I LOVE half priced books been going to the shop since I was a kid well the Greenwood on but now we have closer one in Avon! I am such a book nerd and geek out when I walk in, just the smell of the books is wonderful to me. I literally cant walk out of the store without spending way too much! Which is fine cuz I want a library in my house.

Great venue for used art books. Very fine deals often to be found here on used vinyl records. Always check the budget sale bins! Usually an inexplicably great array of foreign films on offer via high quality, international DVDs. Hit those hard.

Very clean. Great place to get some quality books. Found a collection of H.P. Lovecraft stories in one big book for 7 bucks and it was in perfect condition.

This Half Price Books is my favorite in all of the Indianapolis area! The staff is friendly and helpful. Anytime I need a book found, they’re more than happy to assist in locating it!

Decent store, but the Christian section has shrunk considerably and was the primary reason I would visit. They still have great deals on Bibles when you can find them. The selection and availability have declined along with the size of the section.

I love this bookstore. They always have a great selection of books and the prices are usually good. Some of the books can be pricey for a uses bookstore, but overall I love it here.

Went in here for the first time the other day. Loved seeing how big and open this store is! They had a wonderful selection. They also had a large section of games and puzzles. They had a lot of Pathfinder first edition and Starfinder books. Really loved seeing how big, clean, and bright this store is.

Always a good bargain at Half Price Books. I really like this store because it is bigger than the one in Greenwood, IN. I never walk in and leave empty handed! This store is clean and sections are easy to find. I only wish they would put clearance item in author alphabetical order. But the prices are good enough to spend the time scrounging. Employees are always friendly and walk around asking if they can help you find something.

Unfortunately, it seems the store has eliminated the Transportation section. That was my main reason to visit.

I visit this Half Price Books every time Im in Indy. They always have an excellent selection. I havent been disappointed yet.

Large store. It is always nice to visit a real bookstore.

I took 5 large boxes of books (which included at least 5 very good condition Anthony Horowitz books), 2 full (men’s) shoe boxes full of CDs, and another (men’s) shoe box full of DVDs (including the Hoosiers dvd). They offered me only $20 and said they would recycle the rest. Included in my boxes was a good condition copy of Poisonwood Bible (which I saw selling on their shelves for $7.99). Plus, they would not let me leave the store while they priced my items even tho they took my cell number. I waited over 40 minutes and they weren’t even busy. Thumbs down to that experience!

Staff are pleasant but prices for selling books and albums were not good.

Clean & organized. Feel books to sellers are not paid much but to buy at their store price is quite a night higher.

This is a good book store that sells both new and used books, CDs, movies, and even a few video games. Its a good place to go for book lovers in the area. You may find something new! Or old.

I went to Half Price books. I was refused entrance to building because I have multiple breathing issues and cant wear a mask. They made a half hearted attempt at finding the book i wanted. Didnt listen good brought books that were not related. Then told my too order on line. They have seen last of my business and anyone i talk to . They broke the law. Infringed on my rights. EVEN THE GOVERNMENT SAYS PEOPLE WITH MEDICAL ISSUES DONT HAVE TO WEAR ONE.

Great place to go if your looking for books,CD’s,records ect.They also but these things but do not pay anything for them.Big store,clean.Friendly employees that will be glad to help with your needs.Not very busy during the week at all.

Ok I have read the reviews and my experience was similar to those with the mask ordeal where it just slipped past my nose and God forbid lady at registers said something to me as soon as I walked in the freakin door! I pulled mask up then in one of the alcoves some random woman approached me saying the same thing. I’m about to blow my top off at this point. I grabbed a few books and left but will promise this business I WILL NEVER COME BACK AGAIN!!!! I don’t care how nice the business was. Based on statistics of the C one niner the mask doesn’t even help either and it’s not a law for people to wear a damn mask even with health issues. This was my first experience and surely my last, have a nice day!!!

I wanted a new cook book and they had plenty to choose from.

The Metaphysical section is down to nothing. Probably wont be making many trips there. I was very disappointed.

Kind of a cross between a b&n and a small second hand book shop. Doesnt do amazing at being either one but if you want new books at a decent discount they have an ok selection. You might get lucky and find something old and cool.

HPB has the most disrespectful and insensitive employees I have ever dealt with. This store will not be getting business. I walked into the store, barely in the door and the clerk spoke to me in the rudest manner. Demanding that I must wear a mask to shop in the store. I told her that I have difficulty breathing with a mask on and I’m experiencing morning sickness with early pregnancy. She said it didn’t matter and that I had to wear a mask. I said ok and put one on. I was in an alcove by myself and another clerk came up and told me I had to keep the mask over my nose and mouth the entire time in the store. I told her the same thing. Again, it didn’t matter she said the mask had to be over both to be in the store. Before deciding to leave, an elderly customer walked in without a mask. The clerk behind the counter was disrespectfully speaking to the elderly woman demanding her to put on a mask. The elderly woman stood her ground and walked out.I do not have a problem with the mask requirement, per say. I have a problem with the manner, tone, and attitudes that the clerks had towards me and the elderly woman. If you have lost your humanity and compassion for others during this global pandemic, you’ve lost my business.

Rude and disrespectful employees. They became very nasty, because I was holding one loop of my mask instead of having it over my ear to make it easier to breathe while keeping my face covered They acted like it was a previlege to shop there. The previlege was to have a customer. Cant say I would ever go there again. To many other choices to go and be treated as a person. If it wasnt for a gift card, I would not have gotten anything.

I used to love Half Price books. Ive spent hundreds of dollars over the years at the Avon location. This past Thursday, 11/19, I watched as a lady with a mask on, had it slide down just past her nose. She was immediately hassled by a lady behind the buying books counter. The the lady with the mask pulled it back up and it slide back down past her nose again. The employee proceeded to raise her voice at the customer that was trying to comply. The customer says I did put my mask up! And the employee continues in a very loud raised voice, asking the customer if she wanted to speak to manager.Absolutely pathetic behavior. The customer was not beligerant in the slightest and complied and was belittled and mocked by the tone of the employee. Im seriously disappointed in the behavior of the Half Price books team. If the customer was walking around and causing trouble, thats one thing, this was totally absurd. My wife and I left immediately. My only regret is that I didnt talk to the manager to report the behavior on site.I will continue to visit the Half Price books on the southside but I will not be back to the Avon location.

Wow! Plenty of parking here. The area seems very new and clean.This location also seemed larger with a wider selection. I could have stayed for hours.What started out as a browse ended up with my buying books for myself, relatives and friends!Social distancing observed by everyone as well.

I feel a little ripped... Second hand books at higher prices than new. Not a collector thing, or a rare edition. Just a childrens book. I like how they tried to hide the original cost with a sharpie. Wish I never saw it.

Will never go there again!! The lady at the front desk thinks she is medical official about mask. I cant cover my nose because its causing skin problems. I hope no one with any health problems or someone with underlying reasons that cant wear a mask goes there because this store is prejudiced against people with disabilities.

Lots of books at GREAT prices. Got 2 books and spent $11. Only issue was there was checkout lines had no clear starting point...a little unorganized.

Traditional book store. Sore areas are in need of some organization, like the home section to name just one. The variety is good but you may need to be patient and dig around a little. If you like books youll like this store. Suggest a few tables and chairs to allow a person to sit down and look at the books to make sure they are what they were looking for.

Fantastic store & a really great place to go! Of course they have a huge, marvelous number of books but thats definitely not all. They offer movies, games, beautiful cards and all sorts of novelties. And dont forget the calendar you need for the coming year - their selection & price is the best.

A fairly large iteration of the book resale chain. One notable feature here is the large collection of old magazines along the back wall. Service here is generally friendly, and there is always a decent crowd. Some things come at a great discount, and are fantastic deals. As a classic game collector, I appreciate the consistency with which I can find items at these stores, but the prices are always quite high for resale.
