Pappy’s has consistently been in the top ten of restaurants in Bakersfield for a great breakfast, been here several times and it has always been fresh and darn delicious.I ordered the hamburger patty, eggs, country potatoes and biscuits and gravy, it was outstanding. Shelli was my waitress and she did a wonderful job.Pappy’s is a “blue collar “ restaurant, meaning it is filled with oilfield memorabilia, animal mounts and some mixed match furniture. You won’t find any flowers on the tables. What you will find is great grub, catered to the hard working men and women who make Bakersfield great.

Pappys is me and the wifes go to for breakfast, always solid I usually get the Country fried steak (huge) but I wanted a burger instead. Wife always gets the Benedict. The staff are solid atmosphere could use some work..get rid of some of the taxidermy, uniform the chairs, update tables. These things I look past because Im a hungry boy!

The freedom toast was delicious. The restaurant seemed a bit dusty with all the older decor and it is very small, but its very cute and old-timey. Our server was great! We loved our breakfast and would come back again.

Traveling through Bakersfield and stopped here for breakfast. They had great food and very friendly & fast service! Definitely worth the stop and we highly recommend this place. Im not sure if it is family owned, but it definitely had that vibe and seemed like a great local place to support!

Big 5 egg Pappy Omelette great tastes of multiple meats. Satisfied with golden hash browns.They were out of biscuits. So went with toast. Too bad bread is sliced thin. Large quart jar of iced tea. Friendly service. Definitely a locals place.

It’s a sweet little restaurant down the corner near remote locations given to our everyday marketing. You’ll have plates with just the right amounts of eggs, bacons, sausage and other unique items made in recipe format. Here I’ve had Hawaiian Freedom Toast and a breakfast burrito with gravy- there’s a variety of food which fits the budget for guys who are interested in comfortable dining under a roof filled with vintage antiques. Sitting in the room feels nice! Lots of old gas station signs and drink posters will keep you on your toes; for me, it’s pretty exquisite while having some comfort food in traditional styles and flavors. The Hawaiian Freedom Toast includes butter, syrup, and what’s probably a type of German bread and you can add on a plate of eggs and bacon or eggs and sausage. We’ll have to decide for ourselves how the eggs should be made. Soda, coffee, and even chocolate milk get the tabs on the menu under listed selections where a purchase must take place after leaving back an empty plate. It’s the service, presentation, and cleanliness along with the decorated environment which intrigues me and it’s most certainly appealed to my family while they’re on the run for marketing in small corners located across from new shopping centers. A basic day can start right here in the coffee shop as customers greet and pardon each other under a general understanding of passion related to comfortable dining. Healthy food is an option. Wherever my thoughts for eggs and sausage go depends on the mood and environment realized in such a place like this one during the breakfast rush and delight in table conversations. Being near the customers is entertaining in of itself. We’re talking about a restaurant which specializes in breakfast although they serve a good hand in lunch hour. Pappy’s is the kind of dining establishment that invites guests to party and have fun on a different scheme of things not founded in your typical chains and location hours. Finding hot sauce for the breakfast platter is ideal, but their menu offers a wide variety that speaks to guests on a higher note of presentation as names are searched and looked at for easy orders. Waiters get very attentive here on their moods for nice food. Refills are offered when the cups need filling on a modest budget for some odd country fare for Bakersfield’s standards and the restaurant as a whole is a must-see for visitors hopping in the desert for a bite out.

Never again! Waited an hr for a to go order of 1 biscuit and gravy and stuffed freedom french toast. Check was $23 dollars for regular cold french toast with thawed mushy strawberries, not stuffed at all and cold biscuit and gravy. The pic of stuffed french toast is a total lie and none of the food was worth the price, it was cold, and we waited over an hour for our togo order!! Then when I called to let them know the order was wrong all the waitress can do is ask me if it had strawberries on it? If it had strawberries or not its not stuffed and its not what I ordered, it looks gross, it was cold and you charge me $13 for it? For regular French toast? First time there and last for sure. Worst experience ever!!! It was so cold the butter remained in chunks! Staff is not helpful or in a hurry and definitely not trying to right any of their wrongs. Never again.

I was on a trip from long beach so hungry and I found this place. So glad i came here, my kids loved it will be come everytime. We pass by. Love the customer service. Its like a family own love the vibe.

Pappys is awesome. Sometimes it can get busy and pack and have to wait a little bit for a table. But that just means everyone loves going there. Food never disappoints.

Ive never had a bad experience in the year and a half ive come here. Ive gotten plenty of things on the menu including many of their griddle items. Omelets here are the best! Make sure you get 5 eggs, the skillets and chicken fried steak are items id highly recommend as well. The french toast here is perfect especially the hawaiin bread one. I love the service we receive every time we go, they always have the drinks filled and make sure we have everything we need. A warm smile, friendly & fast service, and amazing food is what you get here!

First time to visit here, been hearing Scott Cox rave about this place. So on my trip to Bakersfield I had time for breakfast. It was great, I had the breakfast skillet.

Main staple in bakersfield, love this place and I cherish it like a child that was taken by a villain and I rescued back . The chicken fried steak is the absolute best and the chocolate pancakes are so good they make you wanna punch your mama for not being able to compete.

We stopped by here on accident, we were on our way to the grocery store when I saw the sign and decided to stop. I’m so glad i did me and the kids loved this place ! From the food to the service to the atmosphere here it’s all great. I think i found my new breakfast stop 🥳

Pappys is the best. Its inside theme is the Classic Old Day Oilfields with lots of old pictures and scaled-down oil derricks...very cool. Good choices, decent portions and fair prices.This is a family owned business by a very old Kern County family and well worth supporting. Alway good service nice 😃 smiles. One of my favorites is the Chorizo Omelette....a very BIG side note...the Chorizo is made in-house by the owners.

There is usually a wait at this place but it is well worth it portions are huge and their food always has great flavor and the atmosphere is incredible with all of the animals on the wall and they history in photos that are there makes it a place thats memorable forever, the food was delicious in the service was super fast they didnt miss a Beat, it was on a Sunday morning after church and I was surprised that way it wasnt very long and the service was excellent and it was a full house.

This place has awesome food, unfortunately they ran out of their special French toast they make. The decor and upkeep might be a 1. Glad they had outside tables. Staff was super friendly great kids at work theyre always asking to refill. I would give this place a 5 but the inside was pretty bad. Anyways if youre driving through Bakersfield I would recommend you stop service and food was awesome.

An amazing restaurant for breakfast lovers. Waiters and waitresses were very attentive and polite, always making sure waters and coffees were filled. It was my first time, so I didn’t get to try any lunch options. I had a ham and cheese omelette, with a side of biscuits and gravy. Which tasted just amazing. My girlfriend had eggs with bacon and sausage, with Pappy’s freedom toast with Apple cinnamon and cream cheese. To die for. My girlfriend was over the moon with her food. Very large portions, and was priced really well in my opinion. The same price as going to Denny’s, but by far superior hospitality, food quality and taste.

Food was good,&the chicken fried steak can literally feed a family of 4, so when they ask if you want 1/2 or a whole one if only you are eating 1/2 is good cause the whole one is a actual whole tenderize chuck steak ! True Story and their biscuits are as big as a soft ball .good food massive servings, and not too pricey

Tamales and eggs with chili verde sauce is awesome. You have to order the chili verde sauce. Their Huevos Rancheros are also so tasty!

The service here is impeccable. I was sat immediately and given drinks in a timely manner. Our drinks wee full and coffee was always coming around. The good at best was decent, just lacking in the flavor aspect. In total, this place kept great care of us, just the food was a bit bland.

I think this morning was the cleanest and brightest I have ever seen this place. In fact, last time I was here I thought I wouldnt come back, but my friend was going home this morning and wanted us to have breakfast before he left. I was pleasantly surprised not being greeted with the stale, rancid odor, then seeing so many things cleaner. Timely & great food plus excellent service... its back on my list of favorites.
