Just left there this is the 3rd time Ive been in and been ignored . Ive bought many guns and never been in a gun shop where Ive been just plain ignored. I was intrested in buying a weatherby they had but after standing there for 40 min and no eye contact or someone saying well be with you in a minute I left . I own a buisness myself and I couldnt fathom treating my customers this way .
I am adding to the other past customers complaints that also got zero service from Valley gun. I wish I could leave a negative rating rather than one star. Employees were standing around purposely avoiding me and then were bugged when I asked about what ammo that they had in stock after they made me wait about 10 minutes before even acknowledging me. Im pretty sure the girl behind the counter lied about the .45 hollow point ammo being sold out when I called minutes before coming in saying they had a few boxes left, only because of the reaction on her face. I will never step foot in this unprofessional gun store again.
I have 2 grand son. i like get them a bow. with. normal beging arows.300lb bow. eagal. like to buy 10 of them if can rest investment. i have google/ ge./ e mail if can/ like buy 7 rifels/40 /70. wenchester/ rementon. with shell.
This establishment is a blessing to area clearly . considering the reach they have to obtain various pieces of armory .a+
They actually had 6.5 carcano. Nobody in SLO county has any, and most places online wont ship to California.
Needed to get my 870 Express repaired due to a shell latch problem. Left my gun at the shop and Cameron was able to bend the left latch back into place and reassembled my firearm at no cost whatsoever. I couldnt recommend these guys enough.
I recommend this place for any issue you have, Molly Quarnberg was very nice and helpful. Molly went beyond to help out with my problem knowing that Im from TX and need to solve my problem ASAP.
I have been shopping at Valley Gun since 1970 they are awesome people.
These people are straight up, Stand up people, They only get rude if needed and they have been very friendly since Ive purchased my firearms from them, Ive never had an issue and always have been able to get my questions answered with more info on top...... 💯
There is an older gentleman and younger man who have been consistently professional. Unfortunately some of their employees can be unfriendly at times. It is too bad really. I have shopped there many times, and recommended them in the past. Sometimes they can manage, but this last time was enough to not come back.PS: If you are trying to write a review and google is not letting you. Open the app for Google maps, it has to be the app, punch in the address and you will be able to post your review. Good luck.
DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! The pretentious attitudes of the elitist employees makes it next to impossible to continue to support Valley Gun. It pains me to say this as I have tried to shop and support this place as much as possible. The only employee thats worth a 5 star rating is Cameron, everyone else needs to find a job where treating people with dignity and respect is not a requirement.
Do NOT SHOP HERE!!! I just walked in to their store and the girl that works the desk had the worst attitude with me, her bearded buddy was just as bad, I was very polite and she kept scoffing at me and making rude comments the whole time I was trying to shop, I ended up walking out and I will not be back. Besides the one employee doing all the work in the back there is zero customer service
Excellent services no complaints a good go to for gun smithing services
I always try to support small businesses especially here locally. However, there is a glaring inadequacy in service here. The past 3 times Ive visited valley gun, Ive tried to get a look at their lever guns. They only post prices on individual tags attached to the weapons and more often than not, the tags are resting behind the gun rendering them invisible. The problem is, nobody feels like showing weapons to customers. Now I mean that even when there are only a couple customers in the store, and at least one or two employees who arent really doing anything, theyd rather look at you then go on fiddling with random things rather than help you out. There is an overwhelming air of Yeah, we dont really care if you buy something or not and almost every male employee comes off as pompous and arrogant. Theyre only helping one customer at a time through completion of that single purchase and anyone else is expected to just stand in line and wait. Im a veteran, I know what Im looking for and what I need help with, so just be willing to show me the merchandise I ask for so I can give you my money! It is inarguable that both 2nd Amendments, Bear Mountain Sports, and Get a Gun all have vastly superior customer service, especially upon entry. After today, I give up on ever attempting to see a weapon from Valley Gun. Sorry guys, but Im not gonna beg you to sell me something.
Good luck getting buying anything here. Generally I want to support local business, but the pompous attitudes definitely make you want to shop elsewhere. They dont acknowledge you, will answer the phone SEVERAL times while trying to make a transaction, and make it a chore to buy something(this is on top of the chore to fill out paperwork).I have bought a lot of firearms/ammo from them. Ill go somewhere else now.
Excellent job on your website .... Subwax ssy yes 108
Ive known Ken over 40 years! He is a stand up guy and is always willing to assist or help you!
I dont know why I keep trying to shop here. I just wasted 30 mins of my life with no one ever asking to help me. There are sho]ers constantly standing around and not one of the employees attempting to help anyone. The owner needs to stop hiring family and friends who are elitist and pretentious A-Holes.
Extremely helpful staff. My new Go-to Gun Store!
A True American Gun ShopIf you want an accurate measure of a modern gun store, visit when everyone is angry over lockdowns AND buying guns. As long as Valley Gun remains on the frontlines of the 2nd Amendment, theyll continue to receive my business over other local stores. You cant blame crowds or ammo shortages on shops these days. Its a sign of the times, but fortunately, Valley Gun doesnt gouge on price. I understand the phrase out of stock better than $50 for a box of 9mm.Their gunsmiths are experienced too, versus other stores that would rather sell you a new firearm instead. Theyve serviced WWII surplus, Glocks, AR-15s, and even delicate .22 rimfires that cost more to repair than replace. Valley Gun is happy to let you pay extra for those family heirlooms because sometimes, its worth the additional cost.Of course, these are all secondhand reports Ive heard from others. I lost all my firearms in a boating accident. If I ever find them, Ill be sure to update this review with how effective their gunsmiths are at fixing water damage.Jokes aside, part of what makes this shop (and staff) special is the variety. Their storefront isnt merely hunting supplies, boomer fudds, or concealed carry holsters. You can find collectible guns, reloading supplies, optics, storage safes, and even an ample selection of spare magazines. So whats the downside? They dont sell MREs or Hawaiian T-shirts. Thats about it. Go visit Valley Gun today before our corporate-slash-government overlords drive them out of business permanently.
Valley gun is so slammed with people not knowing what they should buy. The staff is over whelmed and is always doing paperwork at the counter. Of you just need something small that doesnt require a background check be ready to wait. The cases for handgun are almost all empty so know what you want before hand and get on the waiting list. If you have questions about almost anything the staff will make you feel like to are wasting their time and should just leave. Common types of ammo are always sold out. I feel like because of the rush on everything the last couple of months that the shop is way above their normal sales and know that if for whatever you choose not to by from them there is a whole line of people behind you waiting to give them money.
Excellent customer service
It was my third time in this store. I spent about 25 minutes looking around and no staff spoke or greeted me. The staff all were with customers and seemed to be very friendly with the customer that was there in front of them. It is a small store so there was no way not to be seen and I am looking for a 12 gauge and a hunting rifle.
The service here is impeccable. We had to drive 2 hrs out of LA to find a handgun, and we are so happy that we found Valley Gun. Very accommodating and knowledgeable.Thank you Sam and everyone at Valley Gun for the great experience!
Everyone I go in here they are helpful and honest. I prefer the smaller business as they are typically more personable and the prices are in line with the market so you get the best of both worlds
I recently bought a CZ 75 p01 from Valley Gun and they were very helpful and informative, I will be going back anytime I need to stock up on supplies. Thanks, guys!
They were polite very informative and had no problems answering questions just wish they werent so tight with the ammo but I guess they have their reasons. Good job guys.
I had my gun worked on and Thursday he called said it would be ready in a couple days. I waited until the following Saturday but no call. I called and they said that my gun is on the list and hasnt been worked on so very poor communication
Ive never been in a gun store so my husband took me, pretty excited I wanted to start looking around at getting a gun. We walked in I started looking around and not one person greeted us. A couple times they just looked at us, no smile and went back to what they were doing. I have never felt so out of place!
Amazing gun collection to choose from. Very knowledgeable and super friendly staff. The ammo is cheap (cost me $35 for 40 rounds of 303 when it costs $40 for 20 rounds at second amendment) and they have a lot of older milsurp guns for sale. Just cool to be able to see and hold awesome pieces of history. Bought two rifles from them and will continue to do so in the future.
I recently bought a brand new rifle that was sold to me broken. The issue was that the bolt that held the grip on was stripped and made the grip very wiggly and loose. The people that work here have much more experience and knowledge than me. I literally noticed this issue within 30 seconds of picking up the firearm as a grip that is hanging on is pretty obvious. Because of this it is hard to not assume that this was purposely overlooked. As a result, the firearm had to be sent back to the maker. The lower receiver was replaced which meant a new serial #. This meant I had to pay for another background check and go through another waiting period. I had to express my unhappiness several times times to get so much as a muttered sorry. A purchase that should of taken ten days, took three months. This was completely avoidable as I know they handled the gun and did some proper things like removing the 30 round magazine. I will not be making any purchases through them in the future. As a result of this, I went to a competitor two weeks later who warranties their purchases and bought another firearm. I have had no issues since.
My only complain was the employee that helped me was so bland. I did not want to do business there and wont come back.Thank God for reviews!
Great customer service! Ill be back
My #1 spot to get a gun, my family’s been coming here for years. My dad bought his first gun here 12 years ago. And I got my first last year and got my second this year. Tbh bear Mountain Sports is my number two place because it’s closer for ammo but this place is the #1.
Took my 30.06 deer rifle and new Quigley/Ford long range scope in to be mounted. A most courteous salesman took information and loosely mounted scope and said he would have the gunsmith mount and bore sight it and it would be ready by end of business that day. The salesman (Cameron) and the entire shop just had a comfortable feel about them. Making me feel confident I picked the right gun shopWithin two hours the gunsmith (Berge) called me with distressing news that the set screw in my recently installed Timney trigger had either never been set by a previous gunsmith or it had worked its way loose. Bottom line, the safety wasn’t working and when the safety switch was in the “on” position the weapon still fired, and also that it failed the drop test. I had just recently returned from an elk hunt in Colorado and had I accidentally dropped that weapon it could have been disastrous. Berge agreed to reinstall the trigger properly. When I picked up the rifle he explained what had happened and that he performs a drop test on all weapons that he works on, then only charged me one half of what he quoted it was going to cost.Needless to say I was very pleased not only with a perfectly mounted scope but with his attention to his work. Hate to think what might have happened had it gone unnoticed. I think I have found a winner in this gun shop and will certainly be using them in the future as well as recommending them to others.....
I looked for a local company to purchase my next firearm. I figured I would give this place a shot as it was close to my house. After purchasing the rifle I liked, I did all the necessary paperwork and upon leaving was told I would have to furnish some kind of proof of address issued by the State or Federal government, as I just moved to town and the address showed my old address. Sounds easy right? The day I came in to pick up my rifle I brought the title to a vehicle I own that showed my current address, wasnt good enough they said it didnt have an expiration date. I then gave them my DOT/FAA issued medical showing my address, it has an expiration date, still wasnt good enough. Drove home and got my vehicles registration, also showing my current address, still wasnt good enough because it was a new registration and the start date was a week off. At this point I had enough games and driving back and forth trying to jump through hoops. I asked for a refund. Here is where I got screwed. They charge a 20% restock fee on top of the government fees. So a $130 lesson learned. On top of it all the customer service was lacking. Im very disappointed with my experience here. I would recommend finding someone else in Bakersfield to deal with.
They had an incredible selection of guns, we recently bought up a 1945 German K98 in beautiful condition for under $400 and most guns where in this price range too! The staff was great and very helpful, great store!
Good prices & selection. Friendly & knowledgeable staff. My paperwork was done quickly and efficiently, never had a problem.
Had some gunsmithing done to a couple of shotguns there last week. The job was done quickly, the work exemplary. Plus, when I went to pick them up, they sold me another shotgun. Knowledgeable, good selection, friendly, what more can you ask for?
Took my Taurus 9 mm in for a diagnosis because it was jamming up when I was firing it at the range. The guy working the counter said they would diagnose it and clean it for a fee. He said they would call me and let me know what was wrong with it. They called and left a message that it was ready so I went by to pick it up and when I saw the bill it was 60 dollars for the cleaning and 40 dollars to change a nine dollar part ( extractor spring). So basically I was charged for a simple fix and ripped off for cleaning that should have been a decent price! So I realize that this place has good prices on guns but watch out on any simple maintenance! I called the gun smith back he just told me that he did all this magical work on my gun and that he did me a favor and kept the price down at a flat rate Called other gun smiths and prices quoted were not that high. I should have checked on the prices first here before I got ripped off!I have bought a gun here before and I was happy with the prices. Too bad they are shady on their simple maintenance prices.
The best there is in town by far. Super nice especially once you get to know every one. Outside of going to America aka out of California this is the go to gun shop
Prices are decent. I live out of town and stopped by near. Walked in and everything could be found in a section by what your looking for. I bought a box of ammo for 5$ cheaper then what I would have payed at a local gun store or even at Walmart or big5
The service at this location is horrible. They only want to deal with law enforcement. The last firearm that was bought was sold to me broken. It was 3 months, not 10 days it takes with these guys. You have been warned.
Basically the only gun store i will go to. Always a pleasant experience an always so.ething good to put on the shopping list. Friendly staff and knowledgeable.
Rude people.
Great shop! Had reasonable to cheap ammo! Guns are at fair to bargain prices! Staff is knowledgeable as well! Im a huge fan of surplus so I was overjoyed when I saw they had a 1940 kar98k and a type 99 Arisaka going for bargain prices! My only complaint is they dont restock ammo fast enough or at all some points.
I purchase a Ruger Redhawk .44 Magnum pistol. Great service, good price. Its hard to find good service in L.A. stores. I think I will purchase my rifle(2) from them too.
Great selection Guns And good deals on amo 3rd gun I bought from them They make the process fast and simple
I was shopping a third Customer Service was awesome plus the supply was outstanding. I highly recommend this store to anyone in the market for the product
I took a rifle here for their in house gunsmithing services and was very pleased with their work and prices. Ill be coming here again for future gunsmithing services and gun purchases.
Visiting friend in Bakersfield stopped in to check out gun shops and Valley Gun best in city. Had the best prices and customer services of all the stores.
Worst place ever. Went to go get my grandfathers 3030 appraised and they called the damn police and had it impounded never got it back. forget these people
Great group of people. No pressure service. Helpful, knowledgeable and a good selection.
Very nice staff all are very friendly I lik the shop here alws
Helpful knowledgeable service, didnt mind spending time with me even though I didnt buy this trip.
Knowledgeable staff. Good selection, especially rifles. Good to do business with.
Staff was super helpful, and they had a good selection of guns!
They were rude, ignored me, and talked down to me. Selection is fair if you like older firearms, which I do, ammo selection is small, very lazy people. ALWAYS had an excuse why my firing pin fix wasnt done yet, something I had done for half their price while I WAITED at a store up north. My gun was there for about 3 months. Being that Im 16 of course my mom was with me for all the legal reasons, however, I did not appreciate the hostile tone when I brought up that theyre taking 90x as long as it takes for this fix and the parts are quite easy to find since I found them in about 10 minutes online. All I can say is that they ink care about money and the only customers treated well are personal and long time friends of the owner. I strongly suggest Ole Boys or bear mountain. Much nicer people who will not ignore you and will actually help you and teach you something you may not know.
Just passing through so did not get to chat long. Nice people and good prices.
The employees were a nice group of people, and appeared to be very informative and knowledgeable about the firearms and equipment in their store. I came to them to purchase a 2nd pistol, and things seemed fine. On the 8th day of my DROS, they called to let me know that there was a delay from the DOJ. Ive never had this happen before, but they told me that its rather common, and not to worry because after 30 days if they hadnt had an answer I could pick my pistol up. 30 days came and went, and I called the store and asked if I could pick up the pistol that I paid for in full. Jan told me that the DOJ sent back a decision of Undetermined - she called the DOJ and what she told me that they said was, we havent looked into it, and arent going to. (I should take the time to clarify, there is nothing on my record to constitute a denial at all) I was told that at the end of 30 days the DOJ had to make a decision, apparently that law was changed and the DOJ leaves it up to the dealer now. She told me to come on down, Ken wanted to ask me a couple questions then I would be on my way. I get to the store, and Ken never comes out of the back to ask me anything, instead Jan starts prattling on about how they dont have a policy for this, and I can get/pay for a secondary background check. I asked how long it would take, and in short she said, I dont know, but Im not dropping my other customers just for this - that was the deal breaker, give me my money back. So I get my refund, minus the money for the state background check. Ken finally came out and apologized, saying they dont have a policy for this, and that he has no reason to suspect Im a criminal but you never know While Jan starts telling me in front of everyone in the store about how I can get a lawyer to restore my gun rights - (WHEN WERE THEY LOST!?!?) It made me look & feel like I was a criminal in front of at least 10+ people in the store. Since then, Ive taken my business elsewhere and have had not one problem what-so-ever. I dont know if it was their paperwork or CA. or both, but they need to get something worked out, and probably look at California Penal Code section 28220(f)(4) . A completely misleading and frustrating experience, and I dont plan on returning to try again.
Very in depth. Great store.
Great people good buissnes
They need to update their website nowadays people shop online and see what they have
Walked in the three times out of all three times because Im not a local they didnt want to help me and didnt want to create a goal to even sell anything to me
Supporting the private gun shop!
Their service is not good they wont let you have a gun after months and then when they wont sell you a gun they still charge you a restocking fee for something they never gave you
Had to go in here for job-related reason. Service was not good. Unorganized and not professional.
Very good series
Small gun store, friendly staff.
Good selection
