Twenty-five years ago I drove an hour and a half from Wilmington, Delaware, to Soundscape in Baltimore to buy my Vandersteen Two’s. Last week I drove there again to audition a pair of Golden Ear One R’s. From my first email exchanges with John, through a wonderful half hour listening to music with Ed (and before long both of us were really listening to music. Ed wasn’t just, or even, trying to sell me speakers. After a few moments we were both listening to music, like we were neighbors sitting in Ed’s living room), until Andrew and Aaron dropped off the speakers on their way to install a TV setup at a retirement home in Long Island, it was like we were all in this together. Soundscape has been a family business for close to forever. And for a while I felt part of the family. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. And, not incidentally, the One R’s sound terrific.

Great service. I wanted a stereo with turntable to start using vinyl again and they listened to my budget needs to help me find the best possible system for my needs, set up the turntable for me and explained everything so when i got it home i was in business! Will definitely recommend them and return with any other home audio needs!

Soundscape deserves more than 5 stars!! Ed is AMZING!! I had a REAL serious problem last week. I needed to upgrade my Ortofon 2M RED to the Ortofon 2M BLUE and I searched at least 15-20 sites online and EVERY place was sold out. So, somehow being the Audiophile that I am, I never thought of Soundscape. I was at my wits end and I thought to myself Just one more site and somehow Soundscape came up and I called and ED answered and AMZINGLY Soundscape had an Ortofon 2M BLUE STYLUS in stock!! WOW!! This place has it going on!!Ed is a wonderfully kind man and extremely helpful. I wasted ZERO time and ordered the Stylus right then and there on the phone.It was Friday the 3rd of September with a holiday on the following Monday yet somehow the New Stylus reaches my home in just 5 DAYS including the Monday holiday!! That is stunning!! To me that shows that Ed REALLY cared enough to get an item out to someone whos placing an order over the phone and was incredibly kind and understood the urgency to please someone whom hes never met before. ED YOU ARE AMZING!! I certainly plan a road trip to Soundscape hopefully in the near future!! I Cant Wait!! I may bring a new pair of Speakers home along with me considering the selection that Soundscape has in store for EVERYONE!!

Reached out to the owner approximately 8 years ago for advice. Started collecting equipment in 1978, have digital electronic degree and power from USC in engineering. Have bought numerous pieces of equipment from soundscape and have successfully built a 12 piece set, mostly from their advise. Buy used equipment from them even though I can get it cheaper but without their advice.

Great place. one of the last stereo shops around. theyve lasted because they are the best. wide selection of brands. even greater knowledge. they start out where the big box stores leave off. 3rd generation family run. Ed & Justin will hook you up with the straight scoop. a pleasure to deal with. John too, if you rub him just right. sure they sell..they also service quite a bit in house. they also install all audio/video they sell. I cant speak highly enough on these guys.

His name is Justin Dorsey; when you visit the store you will most likely see him. He gave me excellent advice, explained everything in a way that I - a novice - could understand. Essentially, hes given me my turntable back. Walk in and look around, you wont be disappointed.

Audio stores in the DC area wouldnt stoop to play me the integrated amps they were selling for under $1500. Soundscape said come on in and take all the time you need. If you actually care about audio, Soundscape is a great place. Good selection of great audio equipment with honest, helpful staff that doesnt pressure you. Plus, they really know their stuff and take their time to make sure theyre selling you something youre going to be happy with.

Soundscape is the best! I bought my first stereo system from them back in the 80s. Still using it up till I got the bug for new components. Soundscape was my first and only stop. Ed spent many demo hours with me over several visits until I was sure of my purchases. Great customer service, great people, great selection. No need to go anywhere else!

If youre looking to invest in a great audio setup and get excellent customer service, look no further. I went to these guys for a hi-fi system for vinyl, and they went the extra mile. I couldnt be happier.While the equipment they have comes at a higher price point, its worth it for the quality of what they sell and their employees expertise.Its obvious these guys care about their customers and believe in the quality of what they sell as much as they know their stuff. I wouldnt go anywhere else.

This is one of the best audiophile stores in the area. This is definitely a store for the high-end consumer. They spend a lot of time with their customers. If you didnt spend at least $2,000 in the store you didnt do it right.

Ive been shopping here for years and just upgraded our TV and surround sound receiver. The folks here are the best. Forget the big box stores if you want real customer service.

This place is a great store, with the kind of service that was more common years ago. After a thorough listening session, I walked out with NAD electronics and B&W speakers and I have been thrilled with them. You really cannot make an informed decision on this type of equipment at one of the big box stores. It takes time and patience to sort through what you might like, and how that fits into your budget.Highly recommend. Plus, bring a few of your favorite discs for your demo.

I just started getting back into vinyl again and decided to upgrade my gear. I walked in on a Saturday and told John (first salesperson I met) I wasn’t looking to buy just yet but wanted to get an idea of what’s out there for some intro audiophile stuff. He took me around the store and spoke at length about all matter of sound and different quality stuff, didn’t try to upsell me on anything, just gave honest facts and opinions. He got me set up with a list of stuff that would suit me, wrote it all down with prices and I went on my way. Having some extra cash finally, I went back yesterday to start to cobble together my audio setup with a turntable and small phono box (since I have some decent speakers already) and will be back to buy an amp and upgraded speakers hopefully sooner than later! This place is amazing. I really appreciate the time they spent helping me decide and not just pressuring me into walking out with the most expensive items or things I don’t need. I will definitely be back here for all my audiophile gear in the future!! There’s a reason this place has been in business so long, you just don’t find this at big box stores or online. I very highly recommend!

Off a recommendation of a friend, I stopped by to listen to some audioengine 5+ powered speakers. Great news they were on sale so, I pickup them up and went on my way. Once I had them home and played them I loved them but, got the bug for even better sound. I called Ed and explained my wants. He took the time to talk me though some options. I exchanged the audioengines for another set-up he recommended and I could not be happier. Also, Its nice to spend money at a local business.Great prices and great service! Thanks!

Bought speakers later bought a nice turntable oh Grado headphones still have them all of the equipment going to be stopping by for another purchase it has always been a pleasure. And yes bring some LPs, CDs if that is your thing but kick back and listen and look around. Worth it.
