I had a good first service experience with Vespa of Baltimore today 05/22/12. Marlene at the service desk was very pleasant and helpful, and Colin, the only Vespa certified technician they have on staff, was fast, informative, and professional. I did not have any problem getting the tire I needed, but another reviewer did mention a problem with getting parts. In my experience, the parts supply issue is a global Vespa problem. Evidently, the Italians are not good with supply chain management and fulfillment. This is part of the problem of owning a Vespa. I try to keep a stock of the parts I need most often and always call before a visit to make sure the parts are in stock and a technician is on site. Only the largest dealers (in major cities) have multiple qualified Vespa technicians.01/21/2013 Update: Brought scooter in for service at 9,200 miles. Colin was the technician. New tire, air filter cleaning, paint chip touchup, 1/4 turn carb adjustment took 5 hours as I waited. Rear rim was pretty scratched up when the new tire was mounted (or it is not my original rim - I cant tell). Hub oil was not changed, though I had requested it. Colin said it did not need to be changed. They do not have the tools to adjust carburetors because new Vespas have fuel injection. I was told they do not keep brake pads or shoes in stock. Nine-ten days to get them. Ive lowered ratings accordingly.03/15/2013 Update: I spoke with Colin a day or two after the service visit on 01/21/2013. Per Colin, the tire was replaced without the use of rim protectors and the rim was scratched by the tire iron tools. He offered to have the rim repaired at no cost to me. I can understand that mistakes happen. However, I was disappointed that the rim was damaged and no one informed me until I brought it up.
Good experience all around. I would recommend them.
