J.C. Penny is a pretty typical chain store. They are mostly cookie cutter and all feel the same. But that is a good thing. It makes it easier to find things. I am a large man, and their selection of clothing for big and tall men is not very large. Even on sale their athletic shorts and light weight shorts are over $20, and $40-$60 normally. Quite expensive for something you can get elsewhere for half of that price. Also, the selection of larger sizes above 3X is rather poor. I dont know if it is the same in the womens side, but I suspect it is.

While shopping at the Bangor Maine location I was publicly humiliated and harassed by an associate. Tall older woman with short gray hair. She pointed at me raising her voice demanding that I stand on the other side of the “ round” check out desk stating that other ppl where ahead of me as if I were cutting in line. I was not. She didn’t see that I had been standing there behind those same ppl while that line was 12 ppl deep. I was last in line. I stepped around a rack of cloths looking while waiting. Meanwhile the two registers quickly checked out most the guests. During this time another guest walked up to the opposite side of the checkout station where the line wasn’t before. I saw the ladies that I was behind were being tended to at the register where the long line had been in front of. No one had stepped into line so I was still next. I stepped right behind them again. Mind you there are two registers open on two opposite sides of the checkout circle. Each checking out a guest, meaning two guest deep per register. Not unusual. I hadn’t cut in line. I wasn’t being waited on. Neither was the other guest. Singling me out she walked toward me waving her had pointing demanded several times that I move behind the other guest on the other side. I did. The very next moment the woman at the then open register waved me over and said I’m open I can take you now. Both myself and the other guest were waited on at the same exact times! That horrible woman stood by, mad, angrily hanging cloths on racks, talking about me loud enough for other workers to hear about how I was in the wrong. I don’t understand what her problem was. No one was cutting in line since there really was none! Also we were all adults and can figure these simple things out for ourselves. I should have just left the items and walked out. Apparently this is something she does regularly and it’s accepted! Rude rude rude!! Don’t shop here I won’t anymore. All online for my family!

This store has a good section to choose from in thg he clothing department, but not so much in shoes. The prices are reasonable

Great selection, but the prices are slightly high. I was not impressed during checkout, though. I was ignored by the senior staff member that was training another staff member. I was not bothered by the training as much as being treated as invisible. After the training was completed the senior staff member walked away and continued to not acknowledge my existence. While the new cashier was shy, she did say hello, asked if I had a Pennys membership, and wished me a nice day.

Wish they had more plus size girls to choose from. Finally found a size (other than adult) that fits my granddaughter that is appropriate for young adult (10 yes old). Nice design and comfortable on her school remote days.

Store was pretty neat and tidy. They have a huge clearance section right now.

Fix your store hours. Online says open at 10 and get there and you open at 11..

This is a great store. I love the clothes that they have. I do think the prices are a little high and i wish they would mark the sale items a little more clearly.

Located in the Bangor, Maine Mall, always a great experience and great sales all year around. There’s a hair salon in this store and they are excellent stylists! Never had an issue here and will continue to shop until they are no longer there.

Being in the middle of COVID we were pleased to see how well stocked the store was. And my wife found a great deal on a dress that she really liked, so were all happy. Good service and we love the quality of stuff at Penneys.

The store has many good clothings to choose from and offer some great deals. The customer representatives are very helpful. I was assisted by a customer rep to figure out my shirt measurement.

Very disappointed with the Bangor store, its cluttered and in disarray no selection of plus size clothing, appears to have same clearance stock for over a year in the womens section. I have been to other JCP stores and this place looks like a rummage sale compared to the other stores.

I purchased items in the store for pick up in Waterville. The CS rep forgot to remove the security tag and when the alarm sounded, waved us through. I purchased for Son who lives in Bangor. I figured they could remove it for me in Bangor and would take to my son who lives 30 miles North of Bangor. The person I dealt with was very grumpy and cut me off as I was explaining_ she removed the tag and said nothing. No apology, NOTHING. I have worked Customer Service for 24 years and understand the security tag issue and not my complaint. I did have to drive 150 miles round trip and could have at least acknowledge me and my issue. I have shopped JC Penny most of my life and didnt expect much, but got nothing but bad attitude in Bangor Mall.

For a major retailer struggling to survive they have a surprising lack of toys and an over-abundance of high prices. I would shop there if I cared what people think enough to pay those prices for things I probably wont wear all that often...

This place is amazing. The store is really old (which I dont mind) but they always have the best clothing deals, they beat Amazon. If you see something you like and its too expensive, just come back in a couple days and it will be half price from what Ive found. I mean Ive seen pants go from originally $50 to sale $14 in a few days. They are also really laid back, no hassling or annoying sales people and easy to try on clothes.

Your typical JCPenney with its wide selection of clothing. I found some very nice winter gloves for my husband while visiting. I am also always surprised at the variety of screen printed shirts they have - from nostalgic to nerdy to cool to crazy, I often end up having to pick up one. Unfortunately they dont often have larger sizes in such things, 1-2x is typically the biggest I can find in the screen printed shirts.

Cashier, whos been there for 10+ years (indicated by a pin on her name tag), checked us out in the childrens section. This cashier spoke with monotoned words and no smile. I get. Its Sunday night and the store is closing in an hour. But would it kill you to pretend to have some customer service skills? Honestly, this is one of the major reasons I mainly shop online. Meanwhile, another associate is literally following us out of the store trying to get us to get a credit card...Even after telling her weve already paid and do not want a credit card.

Good customer service and good sales! Decent selection on clothes and shoes... and they even have a good selection on toys. Theres a lot of different things to choose from here. The customer service was very good. Friendly staff is welcoming!

Good place but miss the old days more stuff

About 2 months ago I came here to buy some jeans. I was able to find what I was looking for with no issues whatsoever. However, the reason I gave it 3 stars was because of a lack of info on a smart watch I wanted. Now I understand that not everyone is tech savvy, but I would expect basic info like how reliable is the product, or do you get a lot of returns. Other than that, its a great place to shop for clothes.

There were only 2 people at the registers resulting in a line of about 20 people long. It certainly wasnt conducive to social distancing. The cashiers were very chatty & slow processing customers through.

Stopped in about a half an hour before they were closing just wandering through the store. Great sales going on and the employees were very friendly and helpful even though they probably wanted everyone to clear out so they could close up. Store was clean and neatly arranged and items were easy to find. Will stop in again when I have more time to peruse the sale items.

Great prices, but have to wait your turn going down the very tight shoe aisles - praying that your shoe size is still available. Feel rushed so that the next person gets a chance to look at shoes

The mall property needs some major TLC. The store is put together well and kept clean with friendly staff.

Considering it downsized years ago, there is still a wide variety of clothing, jewelry, etc. One clerk went out of her way to help me find a certain item, which I truly appreciated. Unfortunately, it was a limuted-selection item that I would need to purchase online. I am sure I will be back for holiday shopping soon.

It was really disorganized but believe they are mid renovation?

We had to go look for a new dress shirt for my husband to wear to his dads celebration of life service, our moods were somewhat somber because of this; a wonderful lady working the mens department measured my husband so we could avoid multiple try ons. Before we left the store she had both of us smiling. HUGE customer service win.Store was clean and neat as always.On days like this, THIS happening made the day go much easier.

Very disappointed with the service. Tried to talk with someone in mens wear. Couldnt find anyone. Talked to cashier who didnt know anything about mens wear. Asked to speak with manager and cashier didnt know who it was? I asked if anyone was working and cashier advised short handed tonight. Poor poor service. Ill order elsewhere on line in the future. This was the Bangor, Maine store.

I simply adore JC Penny. They have everything known to man. I wish it was a little easier to navigate and the customer service could be improved. Some of them dont take no for an answer and keep trying to pressure you into buying their JC Penny credit card. Some of them come off as aggressive about it. Im mostly talking about this one lady that works at the jewelry counter.

Went to the website and it said the item I wanted was in stock at the store and when I got there it was nice where to be found but there was no associate either. You might want to think about more associates on the floor for customer assistance

One of my favorite places for mens clothing in the US. A variety of styles and sizes that always has something new every time I go there. Staff on this visit was very helpfully and pointed me in the direction of sales.

Shopping was great? They had some very good deals atthe Banger mall.

Pretty good clearance items. Got a pair of Carters PJs for my grandbaby for around $3 the other day. I also ordered a really nice hoodie for $7 online and they give you the choice to have it delivered to your house or to the store (which is less expensive)
