I go out of my way to shop at the Barrington Ace Hardware on Rt 14 in Barrington. There are an Ace and a True Value closer to me and a Home Depot about the same distance in the other direction.I find myself at the Barrington Ace again and again because they have everything I need, and just as importantly, their staff know their stuff and where everything is. Another unique experience is that they are proactively helpful.I have always had a good experience and recommend Barrington Ace Hardware over other hardware stores because of the service and product availability.

Had issues with employee and informed management, management quick took care of the issue and help me! If you have any issues with employees at this location please just let management know they will take care of it for you.

Was looking for a new grill but sold out, but I got batteries, and got help was very nice and a lot quicker to get help.

This ACE has the worst stock of any ACE. Went in for a simple 1 1/4” 90 degree elbow for drain repair nothing. Virtually nothing in 1-1/4” ridiculous. Couple weeks ago went for a replacement faucet stem and drain pop up in brass, nothing on either count. The stem was in their book and I found it at another ACE along with pop pop. The help didn’t know if it could be ordered. Last month went for Morton rust remover softener salt, out of stock.Unless you need a bird house or light bulb go to any other hardware store.

Needed 3 copies of 2 keys.They cut them on their new machine which automatically figures out which key blank to use and then makes a identical copy. Had no problems with the duplicated keys.

Ace is not the place with the helpful hardware man in Barrington Illinois. I was here Sunday afternoon and was sold the wrong part for my home repair. The store is scheduled to be open until 5 PM and I was at the door at 5 PM and came in and immediately three people behind the counter said we are closed. I explained that I was just there a couple hours earlier and was sold the wrong part and I could just go run and exchange it real quick. They said our registers are already closed, even though I saw other people in line paying. I offered to pay in cash, but they said no.They were rude and had their front door and registers, if they were telling me the truth, shut off before 5 PM. Even if I got there 10 minutes later, if they were what they say they are, which they are definitely not at this store, they would’ve helped me instead of sending me on my way.I will never shop here again, and I live in Barrington, so that’s really sad. Stay away from this place if you want to be treated with respect and concern and even close to their helpful hardware man claim.

Greg may just be the classiest gentlemen Ive had the pleasure to speak with. I came in looking for a very rare watch polishing cloth that I could not find anywhere else - he made my already incredible experience that much more memorable.He is the light during times like these! GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! A couple of weeks ago when we got our first significant snow fall of the season, my windshield wiper broke (of course). It was after 6, the car parts store near me was closed (of course). I stopped by Ace on my way home, not sure if they carried wiper blades, they do. A nice young man, Joe, helped me. He and another young man tried for about 10 minutes (seemed a lot longer in the blowing, cold, snow) to attached the blade for me. Turned out there was more wrong than just the wiper blade, so their valiant efforts were unsuccessful. I cant thank them enough for trying!!! You dont get service like that at the big box stores!

Very convenient. Saves me a drive to the big box options and I usually find what I need. Great place for kinds of project related buys, not to mention salt for the driveway and salt for the water softener. Multi repeat customer 👍

If I could give 0 stars I would. The staff is rude and unfriendly. I went in to get a couple of keys made and when I asked the man at the register, he said in a very condescending and rude tone “yeah, you can go hang out back there it’s gonna be a while.” To which I said I would go somewhere else and will never be going back. I try to support the smaller hardware stores but this store makes it difficult to do so.

As they say home if the helpful hardware folks. Can always find what you need for all projects. Glad to have a Ace nearby.

Great neighborhood hardware store. Everyone is always so nice and helpful. The store is actually quite bigger then it seems from the outside with almost 20 isles. My go to place to find something fast and affordable.

Not your big box hardware store and that is a good thing. This store is packed with some items that the big three dont even carry. You may pay a bit more, but the combination of smaller footprint, great selection and friendly staff goes a long way to make you forget about them.

Good spot when you need one or two items. They tend to be a bit more expensive. The idea is they have knowledgeable staff to help advise you. They are occasionally new or theyre experienced and grumpy, but usually they can help find what you need.

Good selection and there is always somebody around that can offer good advice.

Dropped off a window to be repaired 6 weeks ago. Had to call to check the status, was told the window guy would work on it the following Monday. Went back two weeks later and they hadnt even touched it. Told me they get to put the next week. Needles to say taking my business someplace else. As we walked out the door the clerk said youre good. The old Ace knew customer service. Not coming back

Struggled to do a return from another Ace store. Took over 15 minutes, said they could not use another stores receipt?! I found that odd. Rang in as no receipt. Very polite however...

Wonderful customer service! I walked in needing weed killer for thistles & was clueless as to which product I should buy. A staff person checked the ingredients of the options & chose the correct one for me. In & out in no time! And, the weed killer he chose for me worked! I always go here instead of a big Box, impersonal store.

This place is basically everything you need to do some quick repairs on your home and gardening and lawn care. The prices are less money than the large chains . The prices are less money than the larger chains . Service more personal and friendly too.

This hardware store is a hidden gem in Barrington on Northwest Highway. They have everything you need for a home or commercial project and there is plenty of staff around to answer any question you have. Pricing appears to be average for this kind of store. Will visit again when in the area and needing a part.
