Somehow ended up in Bartlesville, OK today. Went to the Painted Horse on a recommendation of a local resident.Today we have the Heap of Heifer off their featured section on the menu.Slow cooked beef served over their homemade Mac and cheese. Smothered with melted cheese and BBQ sauce.I wanted to rate the item five stars but couldnt do so. The piece of beef that was served was a generous portion unfortunately it had a fatal flaw. The half on the right was a little dry and stringy while the left side was good. This was all the same large piece of meat.The 5 cheese Mac was very good and there was a lot of it. At first I didnt care for the BBQ sauce all over the Mac and was trying to scoot it to the side. Because there was so much Mac I began to get fatigue from trying to eat it. The BBQ sauce then offered a welcome change to the flavor and hence some relief.I was not a fan of the bits of bacon covering the Mac as they were not crispy and did not enhance the dish by adding textural contrast.Would I order this again? I dont think so but I would definitely consider ordering Mac by itself.
Love the food and service here, the ribeye is incredibly wonderful and is so good I cant seem to order a different entree. I know youre probably shaking your head but I drive 1 hour from my house, (highway miles). Tonight I tried a cup of pork green chili that was spicy and leaves your tastebuds wanting more. The fried onions were sho good and made with red onions, I would order these again. Its located in Historical downtown bartlesville and after you eat go walking around and check out the history.
This place was great. With a sandwich like the Hot gobbler lol how could it not?! Reminded of a nice place in downtown Tulsa.
Fun, open atmosphere. Great burgers. But, the best part of the visit was the wait staff. Abby and Tyler were AMAZING! Came in from out of town and felt welcomed like an old friend. The Painted Horse was the perfect lunch choice!
Wait staff was great. Food was delicious and prices were reasonable. If you want to go downtown and eat at a nice restaurant with a good vibe than this is the place to go.
Ordered ribeye. One of the toughest steaks I ever had. Brussel sprouts were burnt. Waiter was very good. Overall, I will only order hamburgers from now on.
Whoever owns this place deserves to have they a$$ beat. $30 for a po boy and some fried mushrooms and zuccini???? No wonder their prices arent listed, theyre bull$hit. For that price it better be GOOD and STACKED. It aint. The taste is so bland its an insult to cooking. Theyre chips are frozen, not even done in house. Ive had better food in nursing homes. Heres a tip- flavor can be achieved through the use of spices and seasonings.
My husband, daughter and I have eaten here several times. We found this little gem just by chance because our daughter loves horses but wow....we’re we surprised. The decor is beautiful with a horse and ranch theme. The food will blow you away as well! Everything is delicious and the portions are huge. We can’t wait to go back again 😊
Loved this place. It had great customer service and excellent food. We always attempt to eat at local restaurants when we travel. This place did not let us down. We loved it.
Normally I really like eating here. However, they serve hamburger that isnt cooked all the way through. As everyone in the world knows, grounded beef has to be completely cooked and the option to not have it properly cooked should never be passed on to the customer. One of my friends and I ate here, and he got very bad food poisoning. Hes pretty ticked off at me, since Im the one who suggested the place. I really hope they stop the practice of serving uncooked ground beef.

Came here a week ago with my stepson. Wow! We loved it & both agreed we need to bring his mother here.We returned last night. She loved it as well. A new family favorite that we intend to visit frequently.My sweetheart had the Asian Beef bowl, son had the Korean pork shank bowl & myself, the grilled salmon.We each shared a bite from our plates.Abby our waitress was the best. We enjoyed her very much. Able to multi task & not skip a beat. One thing amongst her other ability making her an asset was, while attending to a table near us of 4, she was listening to the 3 of us discussing menu items.She handle both tables without skipping a beat.Highly recommend “The Painted Horse.”
The Ruben sandwich was delicious! Our waitress was awesome! The building was like going back in time. I loved the whole experience!
Our first drink was served promptly the appetizer took FOREVER..it was...Humus. Our next drink took forever even with the glass sitting next to the edge!! The waiters kept looking at us and just smiling.
This place has it all. Cool atmosphere, friendly staff, a clean environment, and a wide variety of options on the menu. The food is amazing, they use all local beef and some pork. They also offer a nice variety of salads. There is a coffee bar and regular bar with lots beer and liquor choices. I will definitely be returning here soon.
Amazing! We love this place. We have never had a bad meal from this restaurant. The staff was friendly. I love the Cluck and Squeal. My wife loves the fried chicken. Great salads. The chicken fry is great. All of the burgers are great. The steaks are fantastic. We highly... No we more than highly recommend it. It is our favorite place to eat in and around Bartlesville.
Food is always amazing but this time they were super busy and yet my cheesus burger came out hot and fresh. Super happy that is where we celebrated my moms 60th birthday!!!
We were told a 25 minute wait time, but we only waited about 15 minutes to be seated. After we ordered food came out as ordered and quickly. We had a great time.

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!! I would first like to say the waitress we had, Abigail, was so flipping kind and on point. She did a wonderful job, kept our drinks fine, picked up any dishes, and was by to check on us very often with SUCH a great attitude; she was most definitely awesome.Going on, dont let the prices detour you, they are absolutely fair! Yes they are a wee bit up there, but the quality is superb, the flavors are great, and the portions seem to make about two meals in some cases. The music is fairly varried without being too loud, they have a really awesome bar, and the overall ambiance is nice.This is definitely the place to go if you want a great meal without entirely breaking the bank; and if you do break it, you at least get what you pay for.

Was in town for OKWU graduation and my advisor recommended this place. So, my daughter and I gave it a try. We had the steak eggs, onion rings n cheese grits and it was to die for!!! So flavorful! My steak was cooked as ordered and was tender too!!We also ordered the barbeque macncheese to go and it was just delicious!! So tasty! The menu was full of unique dishes!! Service was good as well. If ever in town again, we will definitely stop here!!

We were at the painted pony for the first and last time. My chicken fried steak was burned and it took an unreasonable time to receive our order. They did however use the gravy to hide their mistake.

Came up from Florida visiting and this was the choice for the family gathering. GREAT choice! I had The Q burger 8 oz burger with bacon, cheese, grilled onions, lettuce and bbq sauce. Great burger and the bbq sauce was best l ever had! Was using my sweet potato fries to clean the sauce off the plate! I should have just asked for a side of sauce for the fries! I am here for 4 more days and want to try it again! Next time will be the burger that is topped with brisket.

I went with my brother, his girlfriend, my mother and step dad. My mom and I ordered chicken fried steak. The meat was super thin and the crust was twice as big as the meat. My mom found a hair in her plate.
We came here for our honeymoon dinner and loved it! The food was delicious. We ordered the onion rings for an appetizer delicious! Brussel sprouts and lemon coleslaw were very good. We split the Q burger. Our waitress was friendly and quick. I definitely will be back!! Additional information: We went back for lunch today because I enjoyed the food so much. The food was delicious again this time but the service was not. When the waitress asked for our drink order, my husband ordered an unsweet tea and I asked for a glass of ice. I brought an unopened small bottle of coke in with me because I dont like pepsi products. This restaurant only has pepsi products. I do this quite often at restaurants and never had any problems, until today. The waitress said she would have to ask the manager if it was ok. When she returned to our table she told me I was not allowed to drink it. I asked why not? Its a sealed bottle? I was just in here last night and left a wonderful review for this place and we made a point to come back again today! In the meantime I noticed at a table near ours a woman has a coffee cup that she brought in with her and she had ordered a water. No one was saying anything to her. Waitress returned again after several minutes and brought me a glass of ice. Then said we are making a concession for you just this time. She avoided our table like we had the black plague after that. Her service stunk because I asked for a glass of ice! She seemed to take it personally. We even told her we realize you just dont want to get in trouble at work. She would hardly even make eye contact with us it was really poor service because of that. So my original review was five stars for this restaurant but after this Im going to lower it to three the food is delicious but the service was just rude the second time around.

Neat little place. Atmosphere is nice and relaxing, but busy and chatty at same time. Tables and dining are centered around a gorgeous bar. Has second floor as well that circles around it.Food is great from cheesy brisket bowls, to chicken Mac and cheese. Of course their ribeye plate is good too, sometimes even great depending on the particular cut. Was never a fan of brussel sprouts until I tried them here.Service has been great the multiple times Ive been here. Definitely worth visiting even if youre coming from Tulsa.

The Cluck and Squeal Mac and cheese use my absolute favorite!! There are so many great options from burgers to streaks. Love the historic building, rustic decor, and location in downtown Bartlesville!

The flavors were great and I liked the ambiance with the nice pictures of the painted horse around the place. I had Asian pork with vegetables but the place had all cuisine plates.

This place has good food. The wait times are incredibly long and they never have enough wait staff or kitchen staff to even cover normal expected weekend crowds. Would not recommend this establishment unless you are very patient and can legitimately dedicate 2 or more hours to the meal

I like the atmosphere. They was playing trivia while we dined which was kinda fun. The salad I ate yum. The steak was cooked perfect, I loved the brussel sprouts and potatoes
Last weekend was out first time in Bartlesville, OK and while there, the one place people were telling us to try was the Painted Horse. Upon entering, we were greeted with friendly staff. This place was both family friendly and a great place for adult hangout time. It was cool seeing all spectrums in one place. We ordered the beer cheese dip... A must try! For our entrees, we both ordered the Hangover burger, medium rare with sweet potato fries and a Stonecloud beer from OKC....now, when I tell you the food was sooo good, what I really mean is, it was amazing! It was probably top 5 of one of the best burgers in have ever had. It was perfectly cooked, amazing flavor and so so so filling. The staff was so helpful with recommendations and making sure we were taken care of. If you happen to be in the Tulsa or Bartlesville area, go eat at the Painted Horse! You will not regret it!
Met old friends in restaurant they always request to meet there. Food was excellent and the waitress kept our glasses full and she was very happy to be there.

Went there at lunch time on a Wednesday. Waited 25 minutes and nobody came to get our order. I finally went up to the server and asked for help. It took another 30 minutes and the server explained that my friends fries werent crispy, so she sent them back. When we finally did get our meal, my food was cold. I had the brisket sandwich with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was on an white roll about a step up from a hotdog bun. The brisket was just ok, and there was melted cheese on it. Just not the quality food I was expecting. Service was beyond terrible. Extremely disappointed.
Changes in quality of food, drink and even service can be explained and understood as there is change of staff over the years. I have had decent quality food (for Bartlesville) at this restaurant. What is inexplicable is callousness in the face of genuine concerns regarding table spacing at the time of an ongoing pandemic. Whatever their beliefs are regarding Covid19, being a business that is supposed to cater to clients, and literally not the only restaurant in town, not even close to the best, and basically have very little Special to offer, other than an alternative place to eat, I would expect them to be a lot more cordial. I genuinely wish I didnt have to write this, but a small business should not have a small mind too.

We waited for our food about an hour and notice people came in after us were eating. My burger was suppose to be medium rare. It was raw inside, not hot and the middle was still mushy. The manager LAUGH about it. She said that is how they serve medium rare.We paid for the other burger and left.

Came here the other day, food and service was great. Came here today and it is by far the worst service in years. Sat at the bar for an hour. Was only checked on one time!!!! People around the restaurant were looking in the back for their servers!Gave them one star after having horrible service. Updated to 4 because I gave them another chance, different staff and it was perfect!!
It is a decent bar and grille. I would say the service was pretty good, while not being the best. The food is pretty good, while never blowing me away. Just a decent place to go out. However, it is a bit pricey so expect to spend 50 for you and your date

Last night my wife and kids decided to give this place a try. Great atmosphere and good service but the food was less than good. She ordered the cheesy grits, steak, and eggs and I ordered the steak salad. Both of our steaks were horrible! The food was barely Luke warm. They sirloin steak was so tuff that I couldnt even cut it nor could I chew it. I guess I was expecting more because they steak is locally raised. Ive had local beef and it didnt taste anything like it.

Came with my friend and her daughter for lunch. I ordered the Maple Bourbonn Chicken, and it was delicious. Our waiter, Wesley, was an great server, very friendly.I accidentally spilled a full cup of rootbeer on myself and another server, Joe, came right over with napkins to help clean up the mess. He was amazing. I want to thank him personally for all his help.This was my first time here and it was a great experience!! I will be back!

First time visiting and we will definitely be back! Restaurant was very well set up and something different from the usual. We did visit during the less busy hours and service was excellent l. Server gave us suggestions on appetizers which we ended up getting and absolutely loved! They were the fire cracker shrimp said to be a little spicy but too much so it was impossible to eat. I had the Cheesus burger and my husband had the Hangover burger both were fantastic. Would definitely recommend you stop by for dinner!

Every single time I visit Bartlesville I absolutely must stop at Painted Horse for the Reuben sandwich! It is the best Reuben sandwich I have ever had and I have lived in New York City! There’s something magical about the slightly buttery, delicately crispy, artistically marbled rye. But the art of all things Reuben doesn’t stop there…The corned beef is succulent, tender, and cooked to perfection-it is neither the typical chewy dog-treat, nor the fatty, slightly rancid tasting beef-like substance used as filler between two pieces of stale rye. Then there’s the kraut—BALANCE! This kraut is not your typical, sharp, biting, tongue blistering cabbage. Whether it’s the creamy Swiss, the unctuous Thousand Island or the blissful union of the two, suffice it to say that each bite of deliciousness is an explosion of joy and a party for your “buds”! If you haven’t had a Painted Horse Reuben—you are missing out! It’s an EXPERIENCE—not a meal!
