Showed up at this shop at 240pm today and needed a oil change last minute. The shop was packed with cars but they got me in right away, with no appointment. They did recommend a few things on my vehicle and even showed me my filters and how my battery tested. I could not believe how dirty my cabin filter was! They had it stock and still got me out on the road by 3pm.I could tell the manager is true professional and has a good team to work with. I believe the manager just started working at this location. But it’s a breath of fresh air compared to the last manager.
The new management team (Garrett and Nick)were very nice and accommodating. They were able to get me in and out on a Saturday afternoon with no appointment. My car rides better then ever. I can’t thank this team enough for all their hard work on a super humid hot day.Prices are better then fair, especially after getting a quote at a competitor. I’ll be a customer for life. Rip off artists! I used to have faith these guys took good care of my car. Year after year over the top repair costs. Found out I was trusting the WRONG guys. They’ve been taking advantage of me long enough. Took it to 2 mechanics who both said the same thing. I’ve been being bamboozled. Over charging me for this whole time. I didn’t need many parts and services they charged me. $$$$ thankfully I found ppl who don’t need to do this to their customers. Buyer BEWARE! Literally left me stranded on the side of the road to realize these are shady mechanics and company at this location.

Was there a couple times for oil changes . Prices were good but I ended up with a blown engine after shortly after 1( wasnt sure who to blame them or the last place. then with my new engine I brought in my own expensive filter asked that I get theirs they were gonna use to take home. They didnt have one. Better watch them I dont believe they change the filters here I wont be going back either.
3 months ago had a oil change done, simple $25 dollar service. As usual, always a quote of anywhere between 300 and 2000 dollars of repairs being needed. Last time they said I needed new tires. DID NOT, according to my REPUTABLE mechanic. This oil change is was a new battery; DID NOT, according to my mechanic. Shady business with always wanting to sell unnecessary repairs. If they tell you that you need something replaced or repaired…..get a second opinion. Also, the markup on what they want to sell you is ridiculous, always 3 times what I pay elsewhere. Check out the rest of their reviews too. Seems like it happens often.

Took my Lexus to Merlin in Batavia for a simple wiper blade replacement, and now they dont work. This should be a simple fix. Several calls to their shop never resulted in a return call.
I took my jeep here.long story short was told nothing wrong with it.. took it to merlins in Wheaton and they noticed immediately that my rear shock was broken and leaking! They said it definitely was not a new issue! How the heck is something that obvious missed? I used this batavia location for many years.now they lost my business permanently!! Horrible,I could have been hurt .jeep was unsafe under this condition since it was throwing my jeep all over the road almost into other cars and walls!!
Brought my vehicle in for repair after brake failure due to a burst brake fluid hosing. They didn’t hesitate to get my vehicle in immediately. They did a great job quickly diagnosing the issue and inspecting my vehicle for other issues and maintenance needs.They kept me updated on the progress and cost. I was able to pick up my vehicle the same day. I was very pleased with their service at this location and recommend them to others. I will use them again in the future.
Instead of charging me for unnecessary brake work they discovered a rock within my brakes. While they had the tires off they did the necessary adjustments and brought everything back to perfect. They could’ve easily done work that I didn’t need but they had real integrity. I will bring my car back here any time something goes wrong in the future.
Shady Business. Go in for one thing and they look for any and all problems to upsell you. its very uncomfortable as they try to guilt trip you into allowing them to do a bunch of unnecessary work.my gut says they are creating half the problems on your car or lying about it.they are not ethical at all

Chris is the manager at this location, he is very knowledgeable and always fair. They have helped me out several times over the years with a wide array of car problems. Dekalb is closer, but the guys there are morons, they put my brakes on backwards and I was sent to Batavia to have them fixed, Correctly! Watch out for the Steves at Dekalb, they wanted 1200.00 for a brake job, highway robbery! They wanted to charge me 350.00 for the same rotor I could buy for 53.00 at Auto Zone.If you want quality work and Friendly service, go see Chris, he will help you out.

I came in for a engine timing diagnostic. They came back with a 4k plus quote. I questioned it and they found it was double charging for labor for some items. They redid the quote and dropped about 1k. I was wary an got a second opinion and discovered the recommended strategy was to start with simple oil change to see if the code resets. If there were still issues, then you go down the check list of causes. They jumped to the most expensive possiblity of replacing everything to prey on naive customers instead of taking a true diagnostic. Avoid unless its for small services. Beware of the free diagnostic..
Even though we moved to Warrenville, we still go back to our Batavia Merlin because we,ve been going there for over a decade and trust the mechanics!

I was a customer there for over a year . I had an appointment for my oil change .I will never ever return there again.I was told to go inside and someone would help me.No one was inside to help me. The manager was outside changing someones wiper blades..he must have been upset because he was throwing them on the ground.I waited till the manager came in.and was very rude .he needs to be in a different profession and not working in customer service!Said he didnt have a bay open.he wanted to charge me more than I normally pay..I went to Woodmans .I will not be going back to Merlins in Batavia or anyMerlins.. the one in Montgomery is the same.Very Rude.I am glad my friend suggested Woodmans .I was treated a lot better and much better prices.goodbye Merlin

Chris and his team always do their best to take care of their customers. I have been going there for years and I own a VW, which is not always the easiest to service. This team is always gives a fair price, great customer service. Today I was supposed to pay close to a grand for parts and labor and Chris bent over backwards to save me as much as he could! Love these guys and what they do!
I came in for an alignment because my car was pulling to the right although I was open for them to look at it for other causes.They came up with $2,000 worth of repairs, but primarily said it was one of the front struts. They then added since youre doing one strut, you should do both and since you youre doing that, do this and since youre doing that get new front tires. Also, they said the struts were so bad that the spring jumped the struts and was moving towards the tire and I should be very afraid.I decided to get a second opinion. I took the dangerous struts to heart and had two mechanics look at them and they saw no such problem. They said the struts obviously werent new, but they were fine.Long story short, the repair ended up being replacing the front tires, but I had them do them all and an alignment anyway. (another mechanic) $500.So, beware up-selling, fear-mongering or plain old poor mechanics.I do have them do my oil changes and theyre fine. Theyre kind of mean sometimes though, but theyre close and open on Saturday.
I guess after 9 months of a Pandemic, millions affected, and more people dieing yesterday from Covid than on 9-11 isnt a good enough reason for people in your shop to wear a mask. Like everyone does that is tough. An example of this is Nurses that have bruises on their faces after 12 hour work days and are risking their lives. Simply took my business elsewhere. Unbelievable
I brought my car in three days ago because it had been making a squeaking noise. I picked this location due to its good reviews and it is close to where I work so I made the appointment and dropped it off during my lunch break with no problems, the staff was friendly enough. After returning to work I didnt hear anything from them for over two hours (I was waiting for an estimate and for them to tell me what was wrong with it) so I called them. The woman that answered the phone said they are actually finishing up working on it right now when I asked if they had figured out what was going on with it. So I asked if they had found the problem that was causing the squeaking and she said oh I will have to ask and give you a call back to which I said ok and we ended the call. I never received a call back. I walked back there after my shift and when I got inside they couldnt find my paper work. I asked if they found anything wrong and was told no the car is in perfect condition besides having to adjust the tire pressure. I asked again if they found out why it was squeaking and was told oh that could be a loose belt that just needs some tightening. Well if that is the solution to my issue, why wasnt it done? They werent able to find my paperwork and the man told me ah, dont worry about it, it will be my good deed for the day and let me go without paying and with no paperwork. Well that was a mistake. Two days later I smelled what smelled like gas/oil while my car was warming up. It seemed weird so today I took it to a local place to have it looked at again. Whoever worked on my car at merlins didnt pit the dip stick in all the way and the oil was over filled so it spilled all over my engine (which I now have to pay for to be cleaned). I was also informed that my front brakes desperately needed to be changed (so my car wasnt in perfect condition like I was told at Merlins).I dont know who looked at my car, or what they did to it besides not put things back properly. I will never go to another Merlins and will advise people I know to do the same.Im so disappointed after all the good reviews and having gone to other Merlins in the past.
If I could give more stars, I would. Chris and his team are some of the most kind and talented people. Ive been ripped off at shops before for my car simply due to my gender and the fact that I am younger. These men took the time to diagnose all my issues and did wonderful quality work for me and for my car. I will continue to work with them due to the level of care and craftsmanship that goes into each customers experience with them. Once again nothing but perfection and professionalism at Merlin muffler’s with Steve, Mike and my mechanic Matt, they are just the best and I will never Go anywhere else but to them. They are very much appreciated due to the fact that I have a 2002 GMC envoy with a lot of mileage and they know exactly when I need major and important things done to my car. I had a emergency issue with my car overheating that they quickly diagnosed and replaced the part. They also gave me an easy to understand run down of the issues and charged a very fair price. Definitely will be coming back in the future for repairs.

This was my first time getting my oil changed since I moved here from CA, and I just gotta say the staff at this location really made my day. I had a lot of concerns coming in, since I had just driven so far during my move, but they were able to put my mind (and my wallet) at peace. The service was quick and painless, and I will definitely be coming back for my auto service needs. The employees are friendly and understanding, and I would absolutely recommend this location to anyone in the area.

I cant say enough good things about this shop. Ive been to other places where they constantly try to upsell me on items and tell me my car is not safe to drive if I dont them fixed immediately so I decided to try out Merlins. The staff at this location is honest and knowledgeable. I didnt feel pressured to get anything done. I went in for a brake/rotor estimate and unfortunately had a lot of other things wrong. Frank was great with telling me what was absolutely necessary and what could wait. They worked with me on pricing and made sure my bill was affordable. I went in at 4 PM and Frank had two techs work on all my issues to make sure my car was done by 6 PM that night for me to have for work the next day. Ray and Luke were awesome in explaining what was wrong. My car is running perfect now thanks to this awesome team.
I called on a Saturday morning to see if I could get in for an oil change and they were able to fit me in. When I arrived, Frank told me there would be a slight delay in getting my car in . The delay was only 10 min. which was not an issue with me, but when my car was ready, Frsnk gave me a discount. That was not necessary, but a very nice gesture. The service was great, the mechanics were professional and courteous and I will be back for future car maintenance!! Thank you guys!!

I made an appointment the evening before, and when I arrived the next day, I was in and out rather quickly. They offered a fair price compared to other quotes I received. Everyone here has just been splendid. Many thanks to Nick, Ariana, and Ray.I came in with a sticky gear shift and ended up needing new struts ASAP, and they let me use the (what I call it) Magic Merlin Van.Nick said, when theres a car thats unsafe to drive, I have to make sure that our customers safety comes first, and I really take that seriously.I still need an alignment, oxygen sensor, and other stuff, so Ill definitely be back. But at least I can drive it again!
Ive brought my cars here a few times. Zero complaints about their auto service. Cars were fixed fine and dont feel taken advantage of. However, Frank (I think hes the owner), is unbelievably rude in his interactions with customers. Frank fixed my brakes on Saturday and then called twice to make sure I was going to return before close at 3pm. Twice I reassured him that I would be there before 3pm to pay for, and pick up my car. At 2:50, he calls me AGAIN to insist that I make a credit card payment over the phone. Actually, reading him my CC info over the phone was the only time he didnt interrupt me while I was talking. If you speak with this man on the phone, you WILL NOT finish a single sentence. He will cut you off 100% of the time. Give him a call and try it out. Ask to speak with Frank. If you get interrupted before your able to finish asking, youre already talking to Frank.

I called to get a estimate in January to replace my radiator $857 was their price next placed I called $437 how can it very that much.... next front breaks with the special discount $484 got it done for 311 at the next shop I called place is a rip off!!! Do your homework call at least 3 places before you get your car repaired savedover 500 on two jobs avoid like the plague

Honest folks here. Back in December 2017 while I was waiting for my cars service a visibly upset woman walked in and mentioned her car was leaking a lot of oil. Mechanics put it up on a lift and inspected it while she waited. When they came to give her the diagnosis her first words were how she didnt have a lot of money, needed the car to get to work, etc. They calmed her down and informed her it was simply a loose oil filter. When she asked what she owed them for the inspection, they told her no charge. You could practically see the weight lift off her shoulders. They could have charged her for the inspection, a labor minimum, etc., but were more concerned about her and making a future customer than making an immediate buck.
My good friend dad came in for a oil change on his truck. He just bought it 2 hours before he got there. They dropped it off a lift and did 6k worth of damage and now they are fighting him on the repair that they caused . Do not bring your cars there.

Awful. Came into ask a question regarding a bolt, even just a bit of advice. This guy ( the owner of this shop ) had no clue what I was talking about. He came highly recommend from someone. I then asked for a ballpark price on removing a single sheered bol. His response stunned me. He was absolutely annoyed and disgusted that I asked and proceeded to tell me that he does NOT have a single guy in the shop with a tap... Really?! He must have Jesus and the Apostles of the car industry, WHO HAVE NEVER SHEERED A SINGLE BOLT IN THEIR LIVES.This place is a joke and the owner is a joke.
Just came here for the first time for an oil change. Guy at the counter was friendly. And while my car has a few problems Im in the process of addressing, he didnt pressure me into getting them fixed there. Was in and out inside of 15 minutes. While I do most of my own mechanic work, anything I cant (or dont feel like) do Id come here.

Good on oil changes. However they told me my tires were 6 years old. They are a year and a half old! With the mileage I put on in a year there is no way I could have tires last 6 years. Either they lie, or dont know what they are doing. Quote for new tires was very expensive.
I have been here quite a few times for my Jeep. Changing fluids, lifting it, etc. Not only am I pleased with the service, but also with the price. They are very honest and knowledgeable. I have years of experience with working on cars. I just dont have the place to do it for free anymore now that my father has passed away. So I know what things should cost, what can be fixed, what needs to be fixed and what is a sales hustle. These guys do not try to hustle you. They will tell you what you need and you decide what to do. I will be going back day after tomorrow to change all the fluids, transmission, transfer case, differentials, and I am sure I will be back after that for anything more that comes along.

Im happy they informed me about the issues I didnt know I had. If I didnt live so far away, I would have them work on the issues they found.

The one in Batavia is very awesome I would not go to the one in Dekalb the funny thing is the Batavia and the Dekalb one are owned by the same person totally different atmosphere in the one in Batavia the staff there is very cheerful and I feel that they do a really awesome job with to customer I wish I could say the same about DeKalb

Check engine light came on and I took it for a code check to a local Tuffy that had been recommended. Wanting to make sure Tuffy was pulling the correct codes and not taking me for a ride, I went to Merlin in Batavia for a second opinion. While both Tuffy and Merlin pulled the same code, only the techs at Merlin went the step further to tell me that the Converter that was failing was covered under a manufacture recall - saving me a quick $1,000.00! I had a bad feeling about Tuffy to start with but in my first experience with Merlin, theyve earned my repeat business!
