We just went here for drinks to wait for a table at Ichiban to come available. The atmosphere here is great. Very inviting and fun. The patio looked pretty great. We sat at the bar and the bartender was excellent.Salsa was excellent and the queso. We did see others food come out and it all looked wonderful. Especially the wings. The drinks are fabulous!! Although I am not a fan of having pieces of mint or other raw items in my drinks you can totally tell they are fresh and delicious. We will definitely be back to try dinner!
Had a absolutely amazing dining experience food and drinks were the best but the service topped it all. Landon was our waiter hes definitely over the top very personable and very professional all in one. Make great suggestions from the dinner meal along with fantastic drink suggestions. Be certain to ask for him youll be glad you did!!!
I Absolutely love this place. Taco Tuesday’s are the best, you get to try different tacos for a great price and the margaritas are $5 between four and six. Overall the atmosphere is great, the service was very friendly and helpfully. I’m definitely going back!!
This place is amazing! The owner is so friendly! I walked in and greeted with the sweetest smile. I’m here visiting from Atlanta and I will be back! I wish this business nothing but the best of luck ! It is refreshing to meet nice people! Thank you so much! The drinks are great and the food is better!
What a wonderful dining experience. We are here from out of state and this has been our favorite meal this week. We were greeted by a very jovial man. The atmosphere is very fun! They immediately brought us chips and salsa. The waitress... she was so sweet and helpful, truly. We all ordered different menu items and we enjoyed every last bite (button popping off of my jeans). :-) I wish we had this restaurant at home. Everything was delicious! Dont be afraid of the cucumber-jalepeno margarita. It was so good, light and refreshing. It paired perfectly with my enchilada suizas. Such an amazing meal!
After many recommendations by friends, I decided to invite a friend to dinner here. I was impressed by how personable the staff was and how deliciously authentic the food was. Their cochinita plate is perfectly cooked and you cant go wrong with a mango margarita with a tajin (chile and lime salt powder) rim. (Not pictured!)Overall, I was most satisfied with their cleanliness, customer service skills, hospitality, and absolutely also by their menu. Ive already begun to recommend them to other friends. 🤗
My boyfriend and I come here almost every week for food and margaritas. Blue Corn is one of the most consistent and exceptional dining experiences in town. The drinks are smooth and balanced every time. Whether its ceviche, tacos, enchiladas, or soup, every dish is a little different and executed well too. The bathrooms and dining areas are very clean even during busier hours. Service is good at the bar or table, but I never have any complaints! Definitely our #1 date spot, and happy customers! Thanks!
This business doesnt know how to treat people. I called to speak to owner about a private matter. And I was promptly hung up on. Super Pathetic Customer service
Such a great atmosphere and great food. There were 9 people at my table including me and everyone loved there food. Chips are just the right amount of saltiness and has the right amount of crunch. Pair the chips with the table side guacamole which they make right in front you is to die for and there salsa has the right amount of spice. There menu is very diverse with a shrimp burger which is a burger made out of shrimp. There fajitas were absolutely amazing and same with there service, best Mexican restaurant I been too in Louisiana.
Very good, excellent customer service, the owner makes you feel like you are friends. Love the atmosphere
Food was very good. Service and drinks were even better. Get the cucumber jalapeño margarita!! Soooo good. Food was very fresh and so tasty. Will definitely be back each time I go to Baton rouge.
Amazing experience, good atmosphere, and most of all good food. The table side guacamole is to die for; (they male it table side for you to see). Chips are also very fluffy and tasty to pair with an awesome salsa with a touch of spice. Fajitas were amazing too
I visited Blue Corn with my wife and our daughter on our daughters birthday. It was the first time any of us had been there. We absolutely loved everything about our visit. The restaurant was clean, the food was beyond delicious, and the service was first rate. Our server Jimmy was great. Thank you and we will definitely be back often.
I am a FAN of Blue Corn!!! I met a friend for an easy lunch and it was PERFECT! The restaurant atmosphere was modern and ethically rustic. They specialize in ceviche, tacos, and mojitos. The free salsa and chips were addictive to me. Not too spicy or bland. I got a satsuma mojito that was amazing!!! I skipped the main entree and gave an appetizer of flautas and a big side of Calabaza con Elote (zucchini and corn) a try. The flautas were amazing but not to take away from the incredibly flavorful black beans and guac served alongside. The star of the show was by far the Calabaza con Elote!!! It should also be noted they do street-style tacos on HOMEMADE CORN TORTILLAS!!!!This is not the cheapo Mexican American joint though... The price is a tad on the higher side for Mexican but not outrageous by all means, definitely worth it!
We when from not knowing this restaurant existed to finding a wonderful resturant. Food is top in its class, service excellent, atmosphere delightful. From the moment one enters till you leave you feel at home. Will return.
Amazing service, spectacular food, fantastic ambiance. Love going into a space that’s clearly been well curated, with a huge hand painted mural, beautiful seating and fixtures. Different than your standard Americanized food. We got the sautéed cactus with a banana leaf wrapped pork, and sautéed veggies, plus a heaping serving of guacamole. The servings were huge, delicious, and extremely fresh. We shared one entree and still brought a big box home, and we’re not small or peckish people. Will definitely be coming back. Thank you!
Very good food! They need to improve just a little waiters attention
Absolutely hands down the most authentic, creative Mexican (not Tex Mex) food in Baton Rouge. The Blueberry mint margarita is phenomenal. Didn’t want it to end and now will be craving It !
I had such high hopes for this place but it was only okay for us. To start with the decor is outstanding. I really like the look and feel of the place. However when it comes to the food, meh for us when we were there. The Chicken flautas were especially greasy and the chicken inside was chewy and hard. The chips were borderline stale and the margarita was fairly weak from what Im used to. The menu was like traditional Spanish or something so we had to Google everything that looked interesting to make sure of what we were getting. Lastly it was pricey for what you got which wasnt a lot. Sorry but we wont be coming back anytime soon.
Excellent service. Owner seems a wonderful person. Best skinny margaritas ever. Best salsa ever. Authentic Mexican and Tex Mex are awesome. Cool interior as well. Fast take out service and we were sat with our to go ritas and chips/ salsa while waiting. The ceviche, pulled pork nachos, blue corn soup, Chile relleno, and other dishes were fabulous. Tender steak fajitas cooked nicely but needed more flavor/ maybe more marinade or char from the grill. Best rice from Mexican restaurant Ive ever had! Go, youll enjoy yourselves!!
Extremely friendly staff, probably the best margarita I ever had. My food was also great. I highly recommend.
Easily the best authentic Mexican (not Tex-Mex) restaurant that I have ever had the privilege of eating at. Everything was extremely fresh, as if the ingredients were literally picked as I walked into the restaurant. The salsa is nothing short of perfection. The queso, ditto. Beer is delicious and ice cold and the chicken fajitas, as you can see from my pictures, are steaming hot and plentiful. The corn tortillas taste absolutely amazing and fresh. They look handmade to me. I had several favorite Mexican restaurants around Baton Rouge but this one had significantly raised the bar for all others! iiiiiMuy bueno!!!!!
Excellent food and vibe! Highly recommended.
Deeeelicious. Cant wait to go back.
Best authentic Mexican food in Baton Rouge!!! This is the second time that we have had had girls night there. Needless to say we will be spending more time in this lovely place. Jesus has been our waiter both times and he is so good at making recommendations. They have every flavor of margaritas and mojito imaginable. Dont miss out on a wonderful dining experience in Baton Rouge
A solid new contender in baton rouge. This place is between authentic and tex mex.First of all the margarita is excellent!! Fresh squeezed frozen with a not too sweet not too tart flavor. The blanco only option queso was very similar to don Jose on College dr. Finely minced peppers, slightly runny sauce. The chips were dry (kind of crumbly and you need a close drink) and not much salt. The salsa had a tomato juice base, and I mean not chunky. The first soup shown was the blue corn soup. It was piping hot but I could not appreciate the very authentic flare. The second soup shown was the cantina soup. Even though it was described with fried shrimp as an ingredient they were apparently not. Let me tell you though. It had the deepest shrimp stock taste Ive ever experienced with a soup. Chef quality! It had a red peppery spin I might add. Salt was on the mark.I ordered the mahi mahi peruano and shrimp ceviché, mild. They sent one with habanero instead. It didnt take me long to send that spicy one back. The corrected mild version was off the chart great. The kids got the chicken and steak fajitas. They were very good. Not just an everything cooked together flare. The side black bean only option was not impressive. The guacamole on the side was excellent and the pico was as well. Rice was A+ on presentation and very edible. The corn tortillas were authentic and pliable, but could have used some flavoring like salt. The corn shell for the ceviche was bland also. Maybe thats authentic???The cactus was an excellent side. Even the corn in it was excellent. Also pictured was the kids quesadilla. This place can contend with the best of them.
Luis the restaurant manager and staff were fantastic. Highly recommend. 10/10
If anybody wants to eat the best Mexican food you definitely have to go to the blue corn modern cafe.not only is the Tex mex type foods great they have authentic Mexican food! Like the Conchita pibil which is a authentic stewed pork recipe from the Yucatan region which will knock your socks off!! We met Luis the proprietor of the restaurant as we entered, from start to finish he makes sure that your meal and visit are great.this a truly great restaurant for all occasions.
Absolutely loved this place. Great atmosphere, excellent food and very nice staff. Also plays great background music 🎶 . Ive been searching for a good Mexican food place since moving to Baton Rouge and this is it!
Essen lane need a good Mexican spot and Blue Corn more than does that. Unique menu, not your average Mexican cuisine overall but very good. Also great selection of margaritas.
The service was very slow. And the place was not even packed. We ordered tacos, and they werent good at all for all that waiting.
Totally disappointed... Usually love this place but on a Friday night they were closed at at 8:50 pm when the business hours says they are supposed to be open until 10.
Good food, excellent tequila, nice atmosphere.
Service was awesome! Food was very good, a little slow getting the food but it was busy. Beautiful interior but chairs are not very comfortable. But, I will take uncomfortable chairs to get great food and service. 😄
I give this restaurant a 5/5 as this is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in the area. It is a very small restaurant, having an inside dining room and a patio, but has a good atmosphere and style. The food here is a more traditional Mexican style with their own modern twist. Every time we come here the food, queso and salsa are really good, but our favorite thing about this place are the drinks. The margaritas here are definitely some of the best in the area. Their frozen margaritas are always really good, and they are pretty strong, which is a big plus in my opinion. Now the on the rocks margaritas are awesome, they have many different flavors and combinations, many of them interesting and refreshing. Id honestly recommend coming here for the drinks alone. The service here is normally above average, the manager (i think) is always friendly and helpful, whenever there is a shortfall during the visit, he steps in and helps correct the problem. One of the best Mexican restaurants in Baton Rouge in my opinion. Highly recommended.
Fantastic. Our new go-to Mexican restaurant. They also have an awesome Taco Tuesday.
This place is so nice inside. Everyone is always extremely friendly and accommodating. I always love going!
Best mexican I have had in batton rouge salsa is really good and has really good vibes
The food was fantastic! So glad we tried it here.
The owner was very nice and friendly. The food was amazing. The ceviche was really good. The tacos here are outstanding. Definitely a five out of five restaurant. I will be coming back and I definitely do recommend.
Fabulous food with nice authentic flair. Went in a large group. Service was very great. Watrons were attentive and fast. The food was very great, Carne Asada was flavorful and tender. I had the Lingua Taco and it was one of the best things Id ever had at a Mexican restaurant. Finished off with the fried ice cream. Everything was so good. Id definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a change of pace or Mexican food.
Clean, fresh and fun atmosphere. The staff was friendly and quick to seat us and take our orders. Our food came quickly and as ordered, we had enchiladas Suizas and steak fajitas, generous portions of each & served hot. If there was a suggestion to be made, Id say the tiny, cute and delicious tortillas for the fajitas are too small to make a good taco with.... they should be larger so you can get a couple pieces of the awesome steak, some onions & peppers plus guacamole, sour cream & pico de gallo. All that doesnt fit on your tortillas. Otherwise all good.
It’s a fancy Mexican place in my opinion the tacos are VERY good. They do $3 taco Tuesdays!
I am not a Karen, but I just had to share my horrible experience.Blue Corn usually does a better job than what I experienced last night and I am frustrated with the level of service we received. Had they been busy I would understand, but there were only 4 other tables in the entire restaurant. My friend and I arrived at 8pm, were seated and given chips. We then waited 10 minutes for a server - no biggie we used the time to decide what we wanted to eat. When our server came to take our drink orders, we put in our food orders at the same time. Not exaggerating, it took 40 minutes for us to receive our drinks. They were nothing special either, just a margarita on the rocks and a club soda with a shot of tequila - should not have taken this long. When we asked about our food the server looked nervous, and I saw him run over to the POS; I can only assume he forgot to put our order in.30 minutes later we each received a bowl of cold soup. When the cold soup was mentioned to the server he said, verbatim, Yea thats what happens when you come at the end of the day. I was floored! Our server didnt offer to heat it up or remove it from my bill. Either option would have been better than being told it was my fault for coming at the end of the day.Meanwhile, during all of our waiting, employees in the kitchen were visibly arguing and having it out with one another.I usually like Blue Corn, but after this extremely unprofessional and unpleasant experience I dont see myself returning.
Our first time trying you today! It was delicious. My husband got a shrimp ceviche, empanadas and a mole dish. I got the zucchini with onions and tomatoes. Everything was amazing. The salsa is by far the best I have ever tasted. Chips were remarkable. I cant say enough good about this experience. Will definitely be going back!
Good food....friendly staff
Very fresh, good food. Probably the best Mexican food in Baton Rouge. I highly recommend!
This place is COOL on the inside, great location, and tortillas are clearly made from scratch, because you can watch them being made! On the downside, my real fruit margarita was not good. I ended up ordering a tequila shot. Also, the grilled pork dish with onions and peppers was under-salted - I had high hopes because the portion was enormous and the pork was tender. My honey got shrimp, and they were cooked perfectly, fresh, and enormous, but also under-salted. The service was excellent, prices reasonable, and I like the vibe, so we will give it another try!
A true gem of Baton Rouge. Food is fire and the drinks are too. The waiters are the best as well. Ty
Best Authentic Mexican Food and Bomb Drinks ❤️
Amazing food and amazing service great atmosphere .
My experiences at Blue Corn have been wonderful. The food has been delicious and promptly brought to our table every time. The staff is very friendly and the manager, Mildred, made sure to come check on us and ensure we had a good experience. Our waiter Kevin was very nice and accommodating. Will definitely return!!
Delicious food and great atmosphere! 🙂
Delicious tacos. Friendly staff and management.
Excellent full course meal! @ reasonable price! Delish!
Absolutely love this place. My friend me and I go every Tuesday after work. We exclusively order their tacos because they are delicious!
They have some very original dishes that are very trendy and fun to eat. Theyre salsa is well made
I I ordered the suizas and I got bland unseasoned chicken! The sauce was ok but I was expecting more flavor off Mexican food. The service was great though. I probably won’t finish my left overs! Maybe by Turtles will eat it.
Love the chiles rellanos with shrimp. Addicted.
Amazing authentic food. Love eating here and the drinks are amazing as well!
Great food, great margaritas, and great service.
THE BEST MEXICAN RESTAURANT IN BATON ROUGE!!!!!!! Great food & even better service!!!! Will definitely be back!!
Great food and service. Okay atmosphere, but comfortable. I had the mango chicken salad and it was fantastic. Recommend highly.
This restaurant is SO GOOD. We cant stop eating here!
Best Mexican restaurant in Baton Rouge LA, if youre looking for authentic Mexican food with a modern twist then Blue Corn Modern Mexican will not disappoint. I was looking for nice Mexican restaurant near me when I was in Louisiana and my friend recommend it, I had a very good time and the service was excellent.
I went to eat lunch today and the service was okay until the manager screamed at our server infront of us. Even after all of this our server was still nice with us, but this was very unprofessional on the manager’s side and uncomfortable to watch
Two times in a row, that the announced time of close is incorrect, so disappointed.
The food is amazing and authentic and definitely the best Mole in town. However, the service is really awful. I never write reviews but The man who took our order for take out was rude in the phone, rude when we picked up our food and rude when I called to say they forgot our tortillas for the Fajitas.Edit: the restaurant called me and was very apologetic about our service and offered to make it right, so I’m changing the rating because it was very kind of them to take my complaint seriously. Also the food is really delicious.
Very good, portions are generous. Nice surroundings.
Best margaritas! Mildred took care of me. Best manager and bartender 🥰 Super sweet! Hand crafted and specially made. The charro bean soup was on point! The staff is very courteous and attentive ❤ Totally recommend! ❤
Food was great, environment and decorations are great as well. Service was quick. The only thing are the drinks, idk, not as good. Too much lime in the mojitos
I have only been for Taco Tuesday but these tacos were great! Great variety to chose from and large servings. I had Barbacoa, Al Carbon and chicken...they were all very delicious! Salsa has great flavor but is a little bit on the side of tomato sauce in its consistency. Great service. Clean.
The food was not good! I would go back only for the chips and the margaritas. Maybe the tacos are better. 🧐If you are expecting the basic Tex-Mex food this place is not for you!!
Meh.Drinks were good, food was blah.We had a wide range of meals around our table and all left a lot to be desired. Unseasoned meat, but a beautiful presentation. The restaurant itself has a great atmosphere.. If you just want to stop in for a unique margarita, it might be worth your time.Overall, Id skip it.
