Very clean tables for when u play board games or card games, not a big selection but the store looks really well kept and me and my roommates been planning to go once a week. Also all the staff has been nice and very helpful.

I love this place so much. Sterling and the guys are great people that make you feel very welcome. Great space with a variety of options between comics, Funko pops, anime figures, as well as DC/MARVEL. You can also find a hidden gem in there as well

Friendly staff. Great atmosphere, I definitely encourage people to spend money on this LGS. I personally live 1hr away from here but see myself driving that far 1 a week to play here with friends.

More a gaming, than a comics shop, alter ego has a friendly, knowledgeable staff and free tables and space to play your own boardgames as well as a superior collection of D&D 5E accoutrements.

Underrated store! As a woman who is into comics, figures, painting, etc., going into places like this can be intimidating because Im often met with unfriendly fandom gatekeepers. However, this was not the case at Alter Ego! The manager (Im sorry Im awful with names) is very welcoming and courteous, and even with his hands full, he made sure to ask us if we needed anything, and showed me and my group how to stay informed of upcoming events and future stock. Definitely coming back soon! Thanks!

10 out of 10 purchase satisfaction!!! Every question I had was answered to the utmost excellence by Sterling, that left me with more knowledge ingrained than I would get from a quick Google search. I went in to play cards for fun and was tempted to buy the whole store before I left.

This is a nice store with a friendly staff. I went there for a signing and they did well to maintain distancing, and checked temperatures.They organized it well and did well to keep the event flowing quickly. They looked to have a vast selection to choose from, too.

This place is amazing, Fun friendly atmosphere.The mtg scene is strong and has a healthy player base for the commander format.Comics are on time and the staff is super knowledgeable.Board games to try out and tons of stock to go through.If you need something the staff is quick to help.All in all i love this place.

Great shop and great employees

I really like this shop and the staff are always friendly. I dont really like their buying prices for pokemon cards though. Dont get me wrong I know they need to make a profit. I sold them a couple full arts, a couple baby shinies, and japanese tag team holos/regular holos. Was only offered $10. Me being a little down on my luck, I accepted. But I also didnt research my cards thoroughly before going in. Thats on me. I also could have easily rejected and sold elsewhere. Thats on me as well. I will continue to support the shop when I can but not sure if Im willing to sell them my cards again. Either way, its still a great shop that has a lot to offer. At the end of the day they still need to make a profit. Go check them out.

Good shop, decent selection and the players here all seem really nice. I bought a VIP double masters booster today and pulled a $130 dollar card. One of the shop employees offered me 2 cards which i wanted as a trade and showed me the price of the foil non borderless card and said it was an even trade. Me being out of magic for awhile and having limited price knowledge trusted him and agreed. Got about $65 worth of cards for the $130 gave him. Roommate about lost his mind when i showed him the trade i did. Will still continue to support the shop and play with some of the cool people i met but will remain cautious about trading others here in the future. My bad i guess for being trusting and not doing my own research. Could have been a simple misunderstanding but he seemed knowledgeable so i kind of doubt it.

They were helpful. Had plenty of books and figures. If you like RPG they had games going. Found a Skottie Young and Fearless cover I had been looking for.

Super nice staff, and they have a little bit of everything for comics but be advised this is more of a gaming and collectible hangout. Maybe should be called Alter Ego Games & Comics? Either way, you wont be unhappy visiting but dont expect to leave with those deep dark comic treasures that took you hours to find.

First card shop Ive seen to have a sizable tabletop figurine selection. Other shops have 10-20 figures when they arent sold out, this place easily had ~60 figures inluding 90% of all monsters you would need.

Drove here thinking it was a game store that has video games. nope. just comics, weird trading cards, and extremely overpriced dolls. seen toys priced ridiculously around $150- $300. you’d think since their prices are extremely high they would of’ve picked a better location.

I’m in town visiting family and stopped by for New Comic Book Day.Extremely welcoming, helpful, and friendly service!I was treated as a usual customer and I felt at home.All new comics come already with a bag and board (some shops don’t do this so this was a nice surprise).I definitely, highly recommend this shop!I’ll be stopping by here whenever I visit in the future!

This place is something special. While it may look like a typical comic and game shop, its the people that make it worth going to them instead of going online or to a larger chain.The employees are super nice and personable. It really does exemplify why you should always by local. You get that special something extra you didnt think you wanted or needed.Will recommend to many of my friends and definitely go back for my comic and gaming needs.

This store has made some HUGE improvements over the years. At its worst, I remember walking in during the summer to a store with 10 fans running because the ac was broken. I wish I could say that was a one time thing but that lasted for months.They got a new owner and the place did a complete 180. Its nice and cool in there and the store got a much wider selection of magic, and I assume other similar things. They also started hosting more events, which is cool even if I dont have the time to pay anymore.Ive always been treated well when Ive gone in there and their prices arent bad. Im not a regular but I do tend to make the trip and drop in every once in a while, and will continue to do so.

Had a very great environment. They had an area set up for kids or adults to play or test out different board games. They had a large selection of comics. I wish my town had this comic place so that I could frequent it.

This place is great! Amazing customer service, diverse inventory, and a cool staff. When we stopped by while visiting family the staff member that helped us was a very friendly, talkative, interactive guy that was very accommodating and maybe a little crazy. After chatting for a few minutes we found our he was actually the owner and was not even technically working but had just stopped in. I can not say how amazing that is! Businesses with ownership that is involved at the ground level is rare these days especially when they are not even technically working. It was such an amazing experience we will swing by every time we are in town rather we need anything or not.

Always enjoyed this store and now they have added Games Workshop inventory to their list of AWESOME things. So excited for a venue in Baytown to support GW!

I was recently reintroduced to an old game and was looking for a good local place to look at cool game stuff and ask questions. Needless to say, I find that at Alter Ego. I was able to get caught up on the new additions to the game, find good prices on products, and the opportunity to play with other customers. I thought Id feel a little out of place, but the owner and staff have been more than welcoming.

I have never had a bad experience with the shop, and everyone I know that shops there speaks very highly of the store. Although its gone through some changes here recently Allstar is hands down the best gaming store in the area. The entire staff is very friendly and helpful and ready help with whatever you need. Fridge is always stocked with drinks and the occasionally have snacks. Best place to play Magic or other card games.

They are so on top of their information and have a fantastic commic collection. I live that they have the comic sets teady to be purchased as a set too! I just wish it werent so far away. I will go back when i get the chance.

Hands down one of the best comic and game shops i have ever been to. Amazing customer service that will help you with any question you might have and one of the biggest assortments of wares on this side of the state.

I frequently buy classic vinyl records here. They are reasonably priced between $1 and $25. Of course the $1 records are somewhat scratched.

Man its a great place to go and play card or board games. Even have dnd on some nights. With the new staff change the store is more upbeat and friendly, walk in and give it a shot.

Dont know what these last few bad reviews are talking about. They give fair offers for a brick and mortar store. They are not collectors and cant buy at the prices that a lot of people think their collections are worth. The guys that work there break down how they come up with their offers and are super helpfull. Been going to Allstars for years and have had great customer service from the owner and staff. So to you guys giving them one star reviews get over yourself and stop throwing at tantrum cause they didnt offer you full value.

Waited to be helped for about five minutes while one person was on the floor for guests. The phone rang, a guy answered it, got done and asked us if we needed help. We were looking for a specific card and got told that they only had one in stock and the person on the phone gets it......WE WERE THERE FIRST AND SHOULDVE GOTTEN IT.......SICK OF BEING PUT SECOND TO CUSTOMERS ON THE PHONE AND SOMETIMES FEELING LIKE WE ARE GETTING RIPPED OFF. WONT BE GOING BACK.....NO ONE IN OUR HOUSEHOLD WILL BE GOING BACK (AND THERES 5 ADULTS HERE) I will buy my cards online from now on.....

This store use to be so much better when Kris and Carlos owned the shop now its run by people who think they know what they are talking about when it comes to comics but all theyre really trying to do is screw you out of your money with key issues and they never really keeps their trades up to date and all they seem to care about is the people who play magic and not the people who want to buy comics.
