Just like the surplus stores of my youth. One of the few places in town you can get great vintage gear in person. They have knowledgeable staff and good inventory.

Went here yesterday, looking for something small and simple, straps for a backpack.. but the guy who helped me was extremely friendly and helpful!! Deserves a raise for sure. With the world we live in today, friendlyness is so much appreciated!! And trust me when I say a lot of people may not talk about it.. but its very true! So much cool stuff, awesome staff!.. I could get addicted to this place!

Bought a great shotgun scabbard and my buddy bought his first pistol here! Very knowledgeable guys and tons of cool stuff. The firearms were priced well and the guy selling them was genuinely interested in making sure his customers are satisfied and that they have everything they need. If I could give ten stars I would.

Over priced used military stuff. Super nice helpful staff. But prices made me look elsewhere. But in all fairness, the employees did explain that Covid had driven prices up in the last year. They are experiencing inflated prices also just trying to acquire stock. I do believe them, as I had not been there for a few years, but remembered much lower prices. Hopefully the prices will even out with time. Its a fun place to poke around if you like military stuff. Lots of options for outdoorsy folks like me for hunting, camp and hiking.

Im a fan of being able to touch merchandise, versus the experience of online shopping. Im a fan of choice. Aloha Surplus satisfies.Yes, some items are more expensive than their online competition, and some of the items about which Im knowledgeable werent authentic military surplus but made cheaply for less-than-discerning buyers, but theres enough worthwhile stuff from _all_ the wars to make a visit worthwhile. (Theres also a bunch of silly wanna-be stuff that Id be embarrassed to own but to each his or her own.)On my one visit the staff were pleasant, although not very clueful about things military. Thats a bummer, but the old vets doing the quartermaster thing in private life is probably a thing of the past.If youre near, its worth stopping by for a look. Be mindful of the authenticity and price, be open to buying here or online, and itll all be good.

Not the biggest fan of their open schedules but Its a great store, I love WW1, WW2 stuff and this place is like heaven. They have a what looks to be a browning machine gun on display which looks awesome, They even have a little spot in the store to buy a gun! Employees are super nice, Great selection. They have a lot of bayonettes/swords which is really cool too. Ive been seeing people complaining about the price, I honestly dont think its that bad. I think the prices are just fine, Some things can be pricey but it really depends if its authentic/original because you cannot expect to get a ww2 vietnam helmet here for under 100 bucks like cmon. Overral a great place if your intrested in military surplus items or just need some gear for like hiking etc. this place if totally for you, even if your not intrested in military gear this place is still a must to poke your head into and look around.

Its a really decent store with a lot of various items to buy. The only gripe I have is that I bought a Navy hat from them, and the clerk insisted that it was a Russian Navy hat, only to find out when I got home that its actually a Chinese Navy hat from the Peoples Liberation Army. I kind of wish there was a little more research done on their part, since thats a pretty big difference between the two countries.

This place was great. It had exactly what I needed. I was looking for Army grade bags or pouches to use for photography. I dont like carrying big bags when Im walking or hiking. So I found a canteen pouch that was faux fur-lined that is perfect for one long lens, with a web belt that was in total $30. Im quite pleased with that. The staff was very nice and helpful. I will definitely be going here again.

Review №55

The selection Is great so If you want to browse, this is a good choice. Then, after picking something you want, go home and order it online because the prices here are ridiculous. I recently received a sword from here as a gift. The person who gave it to me left the price tag in the box, because for some reason they were told not to open it by the person who sold it to them. This sword was marked at $165. They convinced her they would give her a good deal by reducing the price to $100. Since this was my first katana I thought this was probably a good deal. To double check, I googled it. 5 different sites selling the same sword from the same maker for $40 to $60. Oh yeah, And they told her the hilt was wrapped in shark skin, when it is actually imitation ray skin. It is still an amazing present It is just disgusting that they so easily swindle people (in this case a young girl that looks about 12 to most people) out of anywhere from $50 to $150. Oh and when I called to ask if there was anything they could do the guy was pretty rude and passive-aggressive about it. So theres that.

Gr
Review №56

Overpriced. I wonder how they stay in business? Every bit of the stuff can be found online for way less than a third the price. How can the owner pay the employees, taxes, utilities, insurance and still have enough left over to make it worth his while? Its like going into Goodwill or Salvation Army with prices higher than full blown retail !!!Good luck for a bright and successful future. Perhaps the owner can rent out the space to 12 step groups and net more greenbacks than selling yesterdays military dumpster dive finds at Beverly Hills Boutique pricing !!!

The store itself is awesome and Ive been trying to support it sense i bought my first sword theyre maybe 20 years ago? But the issues are the sales practices being outdated, and its more of a hoarder shed. No innovation in sales or to update marketing for a generation that knows everything they have in the store is much! cheaper on amazon and has a review from other customers.

Came in for 550 cord, got 550 cord and dental picks (impulse buy). Overall, a solid surplus store with friendly staff. The prices are a bit higher than I would like however, I think it was like $49 for an M4/M16 cleaning kit. Thats a bit steep for me. Everything is good, just a bit more costly than it should be. Great selection and amazing quality overall however so the cost goes to support a small business. So in yhe end, it balances out.
