I’ve been to many antique/consignment stores from coast to coast. You might say it’s pretty much a personal passion. This shop is definitely on the top five of my list. The prices are reasonable, the inventory varied, high turnover, and all in all a pleasant shopping experience. I need to mention that the owner, Char, is absolutely fabulous! She is very knowledgeable, friendly, and a pleasure to work with. So far I’ve purchased about 10 things from La Maison and am very happy with everything that I’ve brought home.

Called and left a message asking about the possibility of selling off antiques. The owner called back and said my message was aggressive and inappropriate, and before I had a chance to ask her what on Earth she was talking about, she hung up. So... that happened.Not quite sure whos in charge over at La Maison, or how you make the leap from my question of Do you buy old china? to my God how aggressive!.I would recommend people steer clear of this place and just talk to another antique shop. That was the weirdest, shortest phone call I have ever been a part of, and I have no idea what she was on about.

Easily my favorite consignment shop in Portland. While there are places that are cheaper, at La Maison youll consistently find high-quality found goods at reasonable rates.

The owner is such a sweetheart. Pillow cases and insert that should have cost me atleast 200$, this sweet lady gave them to me for free. And two mohagony nightstands and two tables I think the price tag was 375$ before she removed them (for the tables). God sent her to us to provide. This is the worst place to consign your antiques!! I took my mothers lamp in to sell it!! After 2 months I decided to take it back!!! When I went to pick up she had removed the fringe on the glass shade because she said it was ugly, without my permission!! I told her she should of called me and asked me if I wanted her to remove it!!! The lamp now looks nothing like it did and I have to pay someone to make it look the way it did before!!! She should pay that!!!What a nightmare!!!I had to put one star she desires none!!! Awful place!

I love this little store. There are always new items of interest to find and enjoy. I enjoy coming here even when I dont buy anything. I recently sold a porcelain vase through this store. The terms were fair and clear. When the item sold, I was promptly forwarded my portion of the proceeds. I would recommend this store to anyone looking for captivating antique merchandise. No junk, just good stuff.

My wife and I were very pleased with La Maison! We found 2 very high quality armchairs that were a very good value. Our service experience with Char was terrific - timely and helpful!

I love this shop! They have some great things, from little knick knacks to big pieces of furniture. It’s all good stuff, and if you go you’ll see what I mean!

Id prefer to give a 5 star review, but when I come by on a Friday at 2:40 p.m after an hour and a half drive to buy a birthday present for my wife, and the store is closed (posted hours are 11:00-5:00), with a sign saying see you Sunday what else am I supposed to do? Ive shopped here many times, but I dont think Ill be back.

Great store! I always go into La Maison when I am in the area. The furniture is of good quality and always changing. Accessories are great and well priced. Love the pillow selection and have numerous pillows around my home that have been purchased there. I enjoy going into store, seeing the new inventory and figuring out what I can’t live without. Char has always been very helpful with ideas as to what will work. I have had Jenny text me pictures of items I didn’t get photos of. All in all a very good experience!

Wonderful, classy shop that has been tastefully designed with the best customer service anywhere in town. The shop owner and her assistant are both talented and know how to display these beautiful pieces. Such great items that I have a hard time staying away. I keep finding the best treasures to bring class and style to my home. Thank you and keep up the good work.

We got a very good buy on a great Ethan Allen dining set. The store is large and beautifully laid out. They work with an excellent independent delivery service (Andrew Beer) who provided great service at a very reasonable price.The stores young owner has done a fantastic job. She only takes the best of the best. The pricing is quite fair and the values are very good. I was totally impressed how an independent dealer like this can create a shopping experience far nicer than any large national chain. This is a great way to shop for top brands at a reasonable price.Though (like a typical guy), I was pretty focused on what we were there to buy, Im tempted to go back just to look around once more (but dont tell my wife).

A feast for the eyes! Since I adore European furniture, this beautiful store was a dream come true. Walk in the door and prepare to be swept away! The staff is delightfully helpful, and the prices are reasonable for the fine quality being offered. When I spied a gilded French mirror, I made an offer that was happily accepted. So many consignment stores frown on offers, but the very accommodating manager graciously made my purchase go smoothly. Truly my number one go-to shop for anything I want for my French-inspired home.

Great shop! The on-line marketing is what drew me to this shop. Its feels like youre in Paris. The owner is delightful and she looks just like Meryl Streep!

We furnished our beach house, over a period of some months, with many pieces from La Maison. We’d stop every few weeks to see what else was new, and always found something unique and interesting. And the people were always lovely to work with.

I would like to refute here the negative idea that LaMaison provides sub par service.It is with pleasure that I extend my thanks through this review to Char at LaMaison for her integrity, professional attention to detail and considerate behavior. Char held the french inspired Ethan Allen Amelia desk for me for the time in which it took to get a quote for shipment to Connecticut. I had never met Char prior to this purchase and she owed me no special favor. Her communication throughout the transaction was exceptional, making regular contact throughout the week, sending pictures, recommending a reputable shipper and offering both suggestions and support for careful handling of the piece. She consistently went beyond the call, taking the time to speak to me by phone after hours and sharing her love and appreciation of quality furnishings.Aside from having to pay more for shipping than I did the desk itself, my only regret is that I live so far away from her shop! The desk arrived in very good condition, exactly as described, and were I living in the area, you can bet that LaMaison is a store I would frequent.Those of you who have seen fit to post unkind reviews might take note that many people have a much better opinion of LaMaison; and for good reasons. This is a shop that doesn’t accept or sell junk but offers stylish, well made furniture, provides excellent service and reasonable prices, and won’t renege on an agreement they make with a customer.Char, thank you. Horrible service.. Simply the worst customer service hands down. This lady could win an award for rudeness. The response below is for someone else. Aparently Im not the only one shes rude to.This lady is full of justifications for her actions and takes no ownership for herself. I feel bad for the other guy as well.

Always interesting and decorated so as to draw you in each different setting using accessory pieces advantageously. They incorporate vintage with more contemporary objects you might enjoy. New vintage merchandise brought in all the time.

I hope Char treats her other consignment vendors with more respect. She found my armchair on Craigslist, presumably for her store, and had me wait for her for an hour and a half even after I explained I was waiting outside for her with a two-year-old. Even though she was not interested in buying the chair (for $40), which is fine, she lacked common courtesy when she finally showed up.

I have never left a negative review for a business, ever, but I feel compelled to do soafter a very negative experience with Char.She called and told me I needed to get the over $700 worth of merchandise I hadpurchased out of her store immediately (it had been there for a week). She was extremely rude about it and interrupted me several times when I would try to talk. I had spoken to Ginny (Jenny?) about this issue just yesterday but there is clearly a lack of communication between the two. Char also clearly holds herself to a different standard than she does her customers. She was upset that I hadnt picked the merchandise up the previous weekend. I told her that I had left a message the previous weekend to find out the dimensions of one of the pieces to ensure it would fit in my vehicle before driving from NE Portland to the shop, but didnt hear back from anyone for several days. She actually told me that they get really busy and that you should have called us back.During the rude phone call I was also told that they cant store things for more than three days. That was the first that I had heard of that, but if thats the case, in my opinion they should be more responsive when someone has a question related to picking up their merchandise.The inconsistent communication (and compete lack of communication) is a pattern that I saw on more than one occasion. When I called to purchase one of my items, I was told that the consignor wasnt sure they wanted to sell it now (hmmm?) but they would try to find out and get back to me by the end of the day. I didnt hear anything for days.After making the purchase from Ginny, I was then told that the consignor would have to bring the piece back to the store. When it arrived Char contacted me to see what was happening with the pick up or delivery despite the fact that I had already discussed that with Ginny.I was considering consigning some items with them, but after this experience I am not at all interested.

I called this antique store and experienced a very rude sales lady. I asked her if she could recommend a antique store that accepted ladies gloves. She just hung up on me. These people obviously dont want to help you and she sounded like she was too busy to talk to me.

As a realtor, I try to help my clients who are challenged in the home decor category - missing gene, I guess - but I always lead them to LaMaison and I cant tell you how many raving reviews I get and thank yous for the referral. Lots of homes out there now belong in decorating magazines - and, of course, mine as well. Thank you, Char - great selection and help as always!

La Maison is, far and away, my favorite store.Over the past three years, I have gathered many beautiful pieces of furniture and other items from La Maison for my home at the North Coast in Gearhart. Jennifer is alway so helpful and fun to talk to. What a joy it is to visit.

Such an insult that this has french name when it is pretentious and stupid. An insult to the classic French. Char Sudenga is a German Farmer name and it bears no class that this owner perpetuates. I was in this store two months ago and found it to be very sad, indeed. Chaotic, sensory overload, and no taste. I saw one Italianate piece that was promising but alas, I was dressed casually and the owner seemed to ignore me. What an insult and loss of $$$ for owner.

I really enjoy visiting here when Im looking for accessories. Theres lots of tchotchkes, art and furniture to browse through. Fun place!
