Fabulous shop. Got me sorted out, very happy with the price. Trustworthy and friendly. Couldnt recommend highly enough.
Very honest repair shop, they explain everything and how much it cost and why. I would highly recommend this repair shop if you are un sure where to bring you car for repairs .
My parents have been going to Pelham Auto for decades, and theyve generally been great. Clearly theres been a change in management, though, because one of the younger mechanics there is either incompetent, lazy, dishonest, or all of the above. I took my parents car in because a big piece of metal was hanging down from the undercarriage after the car went over something big. They said theyd put in on the lift and look at it. When they called us back they said theyd put it up on the lift and couldnt find anything. My father insisted this was wrong, and the older mechanic who was there agreed to put it back up on the lift and look. Sure enough, there was the obvious (even from crouching next to the car, let alone with it up on the lift!) big chunk of metal that had been ripped loose. Turns out it protects the high-voltage wire, so this was not only noisy but potentially a safety issue. The older mechanic said he wasnt going to say anything about the younger mechanic missing this (or lying about having even looked) because last time he complained about shoddy work by the younger mechanic he got a lot of grief about it. Why in the world would management protect an incompetent/lazy/dishonest mechanic, and give the mechanic trying to maintain reasonable standards grief??? Anyway, be warned that depending on who works on your car you may get dangerously bad service.
Best auto service ever! have been bringing my cars to Pelham auto for years
I took my car in to get a few problems checked out. It was making a terrible grinding/ratchety noise and I was very concerned about it. I also asked that they put back the interior paneling that was falling apart as I can see the wiring in my car.Pelham Auto charged me $100 and didnt address either of the main issues. They said they couldnt figure out what the noise was... and yet one week later, my maintenance needed light came on.They fixed one small thing with the car and then replaced my windshield wipers (without asking me or confirming that was something i wanted. there was nothing wrong with them). When I drove later that day, and it rained, my windshield wipers did NOT work.. they kept getting stuck on one another. So they charged me for services I didnt need or ask for, and wasted my time in addressing the deeper problems with my car. Also $100 for what they did is an absolute ripoff.I liked this place before but i believe they are very understaffed and dont have time to adequately address peoples concerns. Because they wasted my time, my car now has more miles on it and still needs attention from a mechanic (who has time to give it the attention it deserves). Please hire more staffers or dont commit to looking at cars if you dont have the time to fix them.
Went to have my car checked out and have maintenance work done to it and was shocked when they told me my car was “unfixable” .. I know my car is ‘96 but c’mon, they didn’t want to be bothered to help me out. I ended up going elsewhere and proud to say my car is driving fantastic now. I recently moved to Florida and it made the drive down (which reminded me to write this review). Would recommend putting in a little extra time and looking elsewhere for a mechanic.
The artwork around the shop is amazing
Have gone here for car service for many years. Honest, professional opinions and prompt service.
Knowdlge/staff: Jason(I believe) is a great person to talk to about turbo Subaru’s. He knows a lot of good information about suspension, tuning etc. and will not recommend work that doesn’t need to be done, or that offers little benefit for the price. The rest of the staff there I don’t know to well, customer service on the phone has always been pretty good, sometimes a little grouchy but hey that’s how life is when you’re working on Subaru’s.I’mPricing/work. Helped fix a few small issues on my car in a hastle free manner. Also had my timing belt, water pump and thermostat done here. I’ve had some issues with the timing belt gasket leaking oil after that, some weird temp issue also occurred(can’t say if it’s related or not). I think they’ve done a pretty good job. Theyre more on the pricey end of things, if you’re looking for discounted work You won’t find it here. But if you’re looking for reliable and consistent work this is the place, they will never rip you off, you’ll pay whatever the book time calls for x there labor price.Overall I like this shop, and think it’s a great place to take your car, out of all shops in amherst this is defiantly one of the most truth worthy and knowledgeable.
Good service at a reasonable price
My car (Subaru Forester) broke down and I sent it here after reading all the rave reviews. Transmission had to be replaced, they told me. Asked them to check the transmission fluid levels and quality and they said that was fine, that I had to replace the whole thing. Got quoted over $3,000 (which is much too high of a quote to begin with). Sent it to Northampton Transmissions instead and all they had to do was top off my transmission fluid for $80. Saved me a nightmare of a financial crisis and unnecessary work to go somewhere else.
I personally didnt get my car repaired here because I decided to part it. But they were very friendly, knowledgeable and all-round great people. My engine seized and I had it towed there and evaluated, they didnt charge me for the evaluation and even let me keep it there for two weeks. Great people. Thanks guys!
I dont know why I didnt think to write an online review of Pelham Autos for so long. I guess it shows my age. I have gone to them for car repairs since 1981. Except for stuff they dont do, like body shop work, I havent been to any other place in the area. The reason is they are competent, courteous, and trustworthy. If it is bad news, which it sometimes is with cars, you can trust them to lay it out for you, with sympathy and understanding, of course. I have heard that they are a tad pricier than some others. For the peace of mind, if you can afford the possibly small extra charge, they are the best. In thirty-five years, I have never once thought, Gee I wish they had told me more, or that they had done a better job. And the pig motif and cartoons on the bulletin boards always bring a smile to mitigate the hit on the wallet.
Friendly and professional customer service and quality work at a fair price. Its a worker owned co-op so everyone has a personal stake in the work they do and it shows. Im not going to take my car anywhere else if I can avoid it going forward. Definitely recommend it to anyone in the area who needs work done on their vehicle.
Lovely friendly place. Theyll tell it like it is and not overcharge you which is refreshing.
A job well done, reasonably priced. What more do you need to know.
Employee owned means they care. Great people.
Wow. Definately recommend coming here. Their prices are lower than a few in the area which was very pleasing. I dropped my car off, not even an hour later they thoroughly looked at it and had it on a lift and gave me a quote. I have basic knowledge of automotive, and they explained what needed to be fixed so i could really understand what was wrong, while staying very personable and made me feel like i could trust them. They finished the job in less than a day. Definately coming back!! Fast, and super friendly! The piggy vibes are a huge plus!
I really like this place. They are honest and very thorough. No bargain basement deals, but great confidence that they did it right at a fair price.
One of the best shops in the valley. Friendly, knowledgeable staff that are honest and fair. Plus they are worker-owned.
This place is a worker-owned collective, and theyre straight-shooters, and they know their stuff to boot. If you live in the area, there is no excuse to NOT take your car here. Everybody knows theyre the best in the Amherst area.
A mechanic you can trust is worth their weight in gold. This is one of those places. Working with them is worth your time.
Extremely knowledgeable. Been using them for close to 30 years. And they are a worker owned business.
Reliable, fast, professional, affordable, convenient, worker-owned
Great service, good about getting your car in quickly when you have a problem.
An excellent auto service center -- honest, reliable, smart about solving problems, reasonably priced -- we wouldnt take our car elsewhere.
They wont waste anyones time or money on unnecessary services.
As a nervous new car owner, Pelham Auto has made me feel secure about how I’m spending my maintenance money.
For almost 3 decades I have brought my Subarus and Toyotas here, and received the best possible service and flawless repairs. There is really no place like it.
They dont do everything (eg, swap summer/winter tires), but what they do do they do well and for a reasonable price and with an amenable attitude.
Super professional, fast and well priced.
Excellent Auto parts store, Great Customer service, and great prices.
Not the cheapest, but definitely the best. I have an old Volvo and these guys got so excited to work on it.
Reasonable prices, fast accurate and professional.
Really trustworthy folks who will not do more work than you need or than your car is worth.
Its a coop so they work extra
Great service!
Saved my car ✨
Service with a smile
Thanks Al!
