We were in the area leaf peeping & someone recommended Blue Benn for breakfast. Very small, old rail car turned diner- the food was hot & delicious! Service was great. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely be back!

Conveniently located on Rt 7 in Bennington, VT, The Blue Benn is exactly the diner you expect it to be…good food, good price and good service. We stopped here for lunch after camping at Emerald Lake State Park, and because The Blue Benn got the Stephen Colbert Small Biz Bump a few weeks ago, so it was nice to help them out with some business. While they are located right on the main road, there is good parking in the back.

A real diner! They closed for awhile, seems theyve changed owners. Now theres an outdoors eating area surrounded by boxed and potted planters with luscious herbs and flowers screening one somewhat from the traffic on this main thoroughfare. Menu hasnt changed much, yeah! One can get a regular breakfast (2 eggs, toast, potatoes) at a reasonable price. Home made pies with flaky crusts (rather than cookie dough crusts which I like better.) Soup is seasonal. Inside seating can be in 4 people sized booths or at the counter on old time stools, forgot to test if the stools spin! Is a popular place with locals so dont be surprised if theres a wait. There are no call ahead reservations.

If you find yourself in Bennington, VT, DO be sure to have breakfast at the Blue Benn Diner! The food is outstanding and the service is great! I could taste the fresh butter and quality ingredients in every bite. I had the Marcus Special omelet which was filled with VT cheddar, apples, sauteed onions and bacon. It was absolutely delicious!

We went in and sat down after waiting for a booth for 10 minutes. They ended up serving everyone around us even though they were seated after us. After they came back around to serve the others their food I finally said something about not being served. The lady replied with a rude “alright” and continued to walk away. We also had small kids with us so we just got up and left. They said nothing. Went down the street to jensens and got served within 5 mins.

The Blue Benn, a quaint old-fashioned diner, is a Bennington landmark. Its a little pricey for a diner, but the service is very good, and the servings are generous-- more than I could eat. Their Home fries are done right--velvety on the inside. Most diners serve home fries that are underdone. I had an eggs Benedict dish with spinach. The eggs were done perfectly, and the hollandaise was yummy! Unfortunately I couldnt eat the spinach and English muffin. Usually I love spinach, but its juice had soaked into the muffin making it soggy, and there was a pronounced bitter flavor. I think they probably use frozen chopped spinach and need to roll servings on paper towel and wring out all the juice. Fresh whole-leaf steamed spinach would make a world of difference. My sausage was delicious, though, and hubs completely enjoyed his country-style breakfast plate with sourdough toast. I tried the toast--it was good! Tasted homemade. Finally, they have cabinet filled with pies--I would have loved to try that Lemon meringue! It looked so good!

I give 5 stars for the experience. Keep in mind its a very small place. Dont eat here if you are in a hurry. Unless the bar is available you will have to wait for a table. I sit at the bar when I ate lunch here. Service was friendly and fast. It was a bustling little diner. Definitely taking a step back in time here. You can tell the countertops are worn down from years and years of thousands of elbows. A one of a kind place to eat.

Not a ton of non-meat and/or dairy-free options, but I got the nut burger which was this giant patty made from chickpeas and nuts, served on a toasted split pita with onion, lettuce, sprouts, and mayo. It was good, though a little bland. The decor is very classic diner, including the jukeboxes next to the booths - but in addition to Elvis and Marvin Gaye, my jukebox had Ed Sheeran. Not a big space, for COVID they are skipping every other booth and there are plastic dividers breaking up the counter into sections. It was really a treat to get to eat inside for the first time in a very long time, and while the food wasnt anything special, the charm was totally there.

This was a first visit for me. We got seated very quickly which was a surprise cause the diner is a bit small but I believe thats what adds to the character of the place itself. After placing our orders we took a look at their song list. Im a big fan of vintage so this was great way to pick songs. The food was a bit of a hit and miss, I got a ham and cheese omelet while my girlfriend got the blueberry pancakes. The omelet was satisfactory but didnt blow me away. The pancakes however, those were the winner of the meal. They were DELICIOUS! Overall I would recommend this place to anyone in the area or just visiting. They do not accept credit cards but its a very nice environment to step back into. Thank you for the meal blue ben, I will be returning soon for more to come!

The vibes of this diner scream vintage. The staff are welcoming and friendly, treating you like an old friend/member of their family as soon as you walk in. Service-wise, there was no wait to be seated and my company and I had our orders taken as soon as we were seated with little-to-no wait to get our food. The food was delicious and the memory bittersweet, because we spent maybe 15 minutes eating. Awesome place to get a bite to eat and feel welcomed.

This dinner has been around since the 1920s and its still in the same spot! The atmosphere is great, and stepping in the door, you swear for a few minutes you have time warped... and then you hear a familiar, but much more recent, song on the radio and you know you might still be in the latter half of the twentieth century... so you may not have traveled as far back as you thought!

The Blue Benn is a well preserved piece of Americas past where you will get good food, great service, and a sense of community which is rare in todays society. Everything is pretty much the same as it was when it was built in the 40s to include the working Jukebox at each table. All very clean and in good repair. The place is tiny and very popular so expect a wait. The menu is surprisingly diverse and has both the expected classics as well as some interesting culinary adventures. I recommend the California Benedict. Also, bring cash as that is all they accept.

It was a journey back in time to the classic diner experience. We arrived for a late lunch and still had to wait for a table. Beware aware that the place is small so the booths are a tight squeeze for 4 adults, but there is plenty of parking. I was surprised by the extensive menu. And be sure to check out the board and the wall because its not all on the printed menu. We all enjoyed our turkey burger, hamburger steak with all the fixings and a southwest-type sandwich. Not sure how I managed to save room for some strawberry-rhubarb crisp. Service was quick and friendly. Hope to come back for breakfast sometime. Although it is served all day. **cash only**
