The Best grocery market place in Berkeley! Ive been to couple of 9ther markets in Berkeley but none could match the variety of options this place has. Id recommend this place fresh veggies, fruits, meat and bakery. Huge parking space 8s available.

Phenomenal selection of cheese, meats, and produce. this place has everything and i guarantee you will leave with something novel and exciting to try when you get home. a berkeley institution!

If youre tired of Safeway, come here. They have a big selection of produce, cheeses and so much more. For example, I found some prosciutto made in Iowa from Berkshire pork. This maybe the best grocery store Ive ever been to, so far.

This my favorite store. The variety and quality of everything here is fantastic. The employees are knowledgeable. The fruits and vegetables have the best selection of anywhere Ive ever been, and includes a lot of organic options. They somehow also manage to have a selection of packaged goods, including regular brands a lot of other higher end stores dont carry, so its possible for Berkeley Bowl to be a one stop shop. And somehow with all of this the prices are also reasonable. If I could give this place more stars I would.

Great selection, amazing produce. But, increasingly they have stupidly high prices on random non-produce items. I just grabbed some mayo, and it was $8 for a standard size container of Best Foods. Come on...

I just moved to the area from New England and when I set foot in this place I was amazed at the sheer variety of items, especially the produce. I counted over 50 varieties of mushrooms and apples alone, and zillions of other things. Everything is fresh and well kept, lots of bucks for you to bring containers, helpful staff, and just a great friendly vibe. Bring your own bags and containers-they have a lot to choose from!

I have been going to the Bowl since I was a little girl and it’s always been an important part of my life. An extensive collection of top shelf produce, fantastic prepared food, delicious local treats, excellent bulk selection, and some of my most trusted butchers and fishmongers in the area. There’s a reason this place is never not busy.

For produce this place is unsurpassed. There is an incredible variety of fruits and vegetable - things I simply dont see elsewhere. Unfortunately, I dont like their prepared food as much, so only 4 stars. For example, they add oyster sauce to otherwise vegetarian dishes - though Ive made requests to stop. So I generally just go there for produce.e

We love Berkeley Bowl! Either one. Its one of the reasons we continue to pay insanely high rent. There are no other grocery stores like these. I just bought 3 huge bunches of parsley for 59 cents! I keep going back for the awe inspiring produce - you can find anything youre looking for and cool things to try like octopus and hemp infused sparking water - I love the recess brand. You drink it and feel happy and calm. If you havent been you should go. I highly recommend Berkeley bowl.

Love love love this place. I’m visiting from LA and I want to move just because of Berkeley Bowl. So many different kinds of produce, so many unique non major brand items. This is a gourmet heaven. I’ll comeback. PS: Parking is small for its store size.

Big selections of everything. I came to check it out because this place is featured in must-visit-places in Berkeley. Theres organic and non-organic sections. Lots and lots of fresh produces. Theres also deli, and lots of ready-to-eat packed sandwiches, salad or noodles. No wonder the place is crowded.

Berkeley Bowl itself is awesome but the fish counter is not well managed. Had a not great experience today. I asked about 2 different types of salmon and if one tasted better than the other and the answer I got was “your choice. Whatever you pick”. Not helpful at all! I don’t think I’ll be buying fish from here any longer. Probably will go to Tokyo Fish Market where the staff is very personable.

This place was built by a Japanese couple that made their name by bringing a vast, fresh, local variety of produce under one single roof. Personally I have never seen anything like it. The level of freshness its just unreal, you get to try just about everything and on top there is a drink call Kombucha that brings great health benefits. The place has also hot food, cafe shop and again all super fresh. As per supermarket itself there are so many product only found here with an accent on Asian products for those whom love cooking with it. Grains, mix to go crazy about. This is stepping stone to humanity providing a healthier approach to our daily diet.

The selection was uncompairable. Ill deffinately go here instead of a closer more convenient grocerie.

This is a really big grocery. There is almost everything. Be prepared for crowded conditions. I was a bit overwhelmed by so many choices.

One of the best grocery stores in the East Bay. The food is always fresh, especially seafood. A good variety of fruits, berries and vegetable. However, some products are a bit pricey.

Perhaps the best friut and vegetable market in the region, nicely converted into a full size and well stocked supermarket with great fish, cheese and meat counters.

The center of the grocery universe in the Bay Area. The fruit and vegetable section is ginormous with a huge organic section and the most exceptional live herb selection. The Bowl rivals the worlds great grocery stores in London, Rome and Paris.

The only grocery store Ill shop at! Their produce section is incredible and I always find some new fruit or vegetable to take home. Ive always had good experiences with their butcher and seafood selection as well.

Berkeley Bowl has the largest variety of vegetable you can imagine, and then some. Highly recommended to come shop here for veggies though I would recommend checking the quality of what youre picking as there were times we bought packed veggies and they were not as fresh as expected.

Have gone here at least once or twice a month for 2.5 years. Faster checkout speed than Whole Foods. Wider variety of produce than most stores and often very fresh seasonal fruit! Also have a good bulk section and housemade takeout foods. Only complaints are it’s usually so so busy so there’s rarely parking and it’s crowded inside. Also I cannot seem to memorize the organization of the store! Overall, great place and has a fun history!

I love Berkeley Bowl because they have fabulous fruits and vegetables - - both organic and conventional. They are really on top of their produce. There are lots of people working there to keep it clean. They have discounted produce that is super ripe--ready to take home and use.I prefer going early in the morning when its less crowded. I find their aisles to be rather narrow when someone is coming the opposite direction. It can be hard to socially distance in their isles. They have lots of variety.They have fresh fish (wild and farmed), and meat (organic and conventional). I have found the butchers to be friendly and helpful.If you are a senior, they will give you a good cup of coffee (part of my morning ritual if I am there in the morning). They have a very nice bakery if you have a sweet tooth.Their cheese section has cheeses from around the world. Besides the bakery with wonderful tasting desserts, they have fresh breads. There deli has Asian foods, Mexican, and desserts. During Covid times--take out only.They clean their shopping carts between uses, and dont let too many people in at once. You put your own groceries into your own bag--unless you buy a paper bag and they then bag it for you.For me, it is kind of a cross between a coop and a large grocery store. I love what they have to offer!!!

Be careful with their watercress they have recently changed it. Even though it is less expensive it has a snail problem. DO NOT BUY watercress there. It’s infested with snails.

I found all of the fresh vegies and beautiful fruits I needed, fresh black beans great meat too. Prices are low and staff, cashiers are very humble, ready to help me with any questions or/& needs. I love taking time to go to a store so complete. Enjoyable food shopping experience.

Let me talk to you about apples. Lots of them. So many varieties, in fact, that it can be intimidating. If you feel this way just take a breath, grab a bag and pick one apple, just one. Then, pick another, and another. Before you know it youll be over your anxiety and youll be one of the thousands that love Berkeley Bowl. It really is an outstanding market for produce in particular. We do most of our grocery shopping here and you should too.

Berkeley Bowl Marketplace is my go to place for meat, fish and year around vegetables abd fruit. I also liked my burritos. Also they had there parking good which can sometimes be crowded. I think it was the time of day at 7 p.m.

If heaven has a bulk food section, it’s actually the Berkeley bowl

Fresh food section is amazing!

Don’t miss it. This is THE place to shop for groceries. With Covid, people are waiting in line over an hour just to shop here. Why, because this place is that good.

Fresh produce selection is amazing with yams, apples, Peruvian purple potatoes, fresh dates, fresh mission figs.... making me hungry 😋 only bad part is parking that can be a pain when less considerate drivers try to take a spot youve been patiently waiting for 🤐

The store is super responsible and provides gloves. The produce selection and quality are amazing and inexpensive. I bought a 3 lb bag of broccoli 🥦 crowns for $1.59! Their sushi grade fish is very fresh and melts in your mouth. I love this store!

The be all and end all of groceries. Good bread, smoked salmon, Stilton cheese and coffee. Expensive, but I recommend!

A mainstay of East Bay food culture, Berkeley Bowl is the place of organic produce dreams. I generally buy staples like oils, cereals, produce and speciality foods at Berkeley Bowl. (TJs has better frozen food options). Don’t forget to check out the discount produce section in the left back of the store. I always buy some fruit that has a day or so left before spoiling, wash and then freeze it for smoothies.

It isnt the first time that I experience this at the store. Some of your employees really need to make an effort with their customer sevice skills. I have even written an email about this before, and never got a response. Not only the bagger was super grumpy, but this is also how much attention they were paying. In the meantime, I paid for extra bags.

I only wish they would open in North Berkeley where we are afflicted by a plethora of Saf***y

My First time going since I was a child. I had to re-learn the store. However I Really enjoy being able to Fresh Organic fruits and vegetables. I drove over 40miles to go here. I will take this drive once or twice a month

I really miss living close enough to shop here. The variety of produce is just amazing and the quality is great with very reasonable prices too. The choices of cheeses, breads, and bulk foods are all very good too, but it was the awe-inspiring variety of produce that made it so worth the crowded parking and long check-out lines (pre-COVID) when I was able to shop here fairly regularly. If you go looking for some obscure item of produce, expect to be confronted with a choice of a couple varieties from a couple of different places and possibly in a couple size ranges. I may be exigerait slightly, but the variety is just unbelievable.I grew up in Berkeley and I realize how great it is more and more the longer I live away from it.

The Bowl is the Best! Miles of fresh produce, thousands of grocery items from common to obscure, and the best bulk and organic sections in town. Ive been coming here since it first opened in the old bowling alley.

Its been nearly a year since I moved away from Berkeley and the thing I miss most is still this grocery store.If they dont have it, you dont need it.

Giant big grocery store, with lots of fresh vegetables, fresh seafood, fresh meats. Can find pretty much anything you need here. Plus its full of beautiful people to boot. Check it out if you never have.
