They make a good sandwich. I live nearby and their sandwiches are better than most other sandwiches in the close vicinity. Good bread, good meat, cheese, sauces and toppings. It is a satisfying sandwich. They are also really expensive, $16 for a sandwich. There is an explanation posted at the counter about why their sandwiches are so expensive. I get that cost of living around here is high and quality ingredients are not cheap, and I support that. But I wish I could get a decent affordable sandwich as my go to lunch on the run and save the really expensive ones for special occasions.

They rotate the sandwiches and they are pricey, but good.

This place went down hill however their sandwich prices went up. Dumb business model. I went in on a Saturday, and the only sandwiches that were available were pre-made. $32 for two sandwiches. Wow. To add insult to injury one of my pre-made ripoffs was a tuna sandwich. Although I like surprises, I cant stand tuna. Overall a terrible experience.

I have no choice but to give Star Meats one star due to the price of their signature sandwiches.The quality is top notch, or at least it used to be when sandwiches were only $8... now they are $16! Believe you me... the price markup is not because of the high price of ingredients. You could make 4 sandwiches for the price.... stopped going as much when they started charging for extra chipotle Mayo, and now I refuse to go at all. Such a shame for what used to be a treasured institution

The deli here makes the best sandwiches in the Oakland area that I know of. Ike should come here to see what a real sandwich looks like instead of pedaling glorified Subway sandwiches to his poor clueless customers. Star Meats uses the best ingredients from the bread to the meats. It does take them a little while to make the sandwiches so it is best to call in your order if you do not want to wait around.

Love their sandwiches but for $16 that is way too steep

A nice deli/grocery store. Great sandwiches. Artisan cheese. In house made sausage.Worth a try. Not a lot of parking.

My favorite little food store (Star Market) when we visit Berkeley. A little junky, a little funky, but they have everything. Lots of organic, Neumans Own, produce is limited but good, Star Meats have great steaks, chicken, well, everything. Get there early for Acme Bread.

Favorite Italian style sandwich. Great bread to meat to veg ratio.

I love these sandwiches. The meats/sandwich counter is separate from the grocery store checkout, so youll want to pay for your snacks and drinks at the front while they get your sandwich prepped.

Wanted to try this place because of all the good reviews when looking for a deli..Finally found parking, headed to the deli counter in the back making my way thru the zombies just to have someone tell me theu cant make sandwiches until 11am... it was 1140..Theu kindly offered to take my order but sorry if your gonna charge mr. 12 bucks for a sandwich and not be able to make it for 20 mins PASS...Side note gordo taqueria down the road had a new customer...burrito plus soda and fixings with tip less then the sandwich and wow theyre fast.

The sandwiches are pretty good, but they are really slow and sometimes forget your order.
