I took in my Toyota Camry for a routine oil change, J.D. Zou explained everything to me. I had an unexpected maintenance problem, when it was discovered rodents had nested in my air and engine filters. J.D. showed me the filters, patiently explained causes and solutions, and was extremely helpful. I love Albany Toyota and have been a loyal customer for over 20 years.
I have a very pleasant experience with Toyota of Albany. I have both of my cars serviced there all the time . The staffs are very professional, courteous, and very knowledgeable. They provide thorough information and recommendations for what I need for my vehicles. They shared so much details about the safety of each of their recommendations. I really appreciate the staffs and I would not go anywhere else. Keep up the excellent work.
I recently took my car to Toyota of Berkeley. JD Zou was there to greet me when I arrived and was friendly and very professional. Unfortunately, our insurance adjuster was completely unresponsive. What should have taken a few days stretched out more than a month with no authorization from Progressive Insurance. JD was unbelievably helpful, responsive, and in fact quite proactive. He didnt let the ball drop once throughout the long process. Thank you, JD!
Great service. I had a problem with the hood of my prius. It would not open. JD Zou was the attendant. He explained everything to me and ensured I received exceptional service. I highly recommend this place for repairs and service.
I do my Toyota Tundra and Prius service from Mr JD Zhou. He is so friendly and helpful. Excellent service and very efficient. I give him five stars.
Took my car in for a routine maintenance and inspection back in May. I had experienced some A/C issues prior and figured theyd pick it up during their multi-point inspection. Long story short, it turned into a brake pad replacement on top of it, and oil change that ended up being around $800 dollars. Im driving my car and noticed that the A/C still isnt working correctly. Reading up on the issue, I have good reason to believe its the air exchange door jamming up or not working properly. I bring my car into today and they quote me 200 dollars just to check it out. Then they call me 5 hours later to tell me Freon has leaked all over the engine (great work catching that during your multi-point inspection) and theyll need to clean it up and replace the Freon. Blink of an eye cost has doubled to $400.00. Weve asked them to call us before any work is performed, but that didnt happen.Look up previous reviews, this place has a reputation for upselling. Just an oil change? No, you need to replace everything in your car.Do not go here. Ive had enough. Period.Update: spoke to manager, seeing what they can do. Pending resolution
New employee JT wins top prize. He is exemplary in every category. Knowledge, kindness, politeness. I am very grateful to him for his thoroughness and help.
Staff went way out their way to help. I lost my keyfob in my car. After searching unsuccessfully everywhere I could I called several shops and only Berkeley/Albany Service Center told me to bring the car in and they would try to find it. 4 people were all over it and after about 5 minutes they found it buried in some electrical housing under the seat. No charge. No pressure to return. And I had never used them before for any service. I will now.
Their prices are astronomical but the staff is great.
Great customer service from Mr. JD Zou. He is so friendly and helpful. Solved all my issues.
I went into today before a really long trip and wanted them to look it over. The man working the counter was rude in his manner and printed out a list of about 1700 dollar maintenance repairs that they recommend at my mileage. I couldn’t afford that much, so asked what would be needed for the trip. He rolled his eyes and told me to look at the list. I asked again for specific recommendations and he again told me to look at the list. When I left they hadn’t done the oil change I requested and didn’t turn off the maintenance light. When I asked about the oil change before leaving he got angry and told me it would be another hour after I had already waited an hour and a half. I won’t be going back, which is disappointing, because I bought my car there and the man who sold me the car was really nice. The guy there this morning was honestly kind of a jerk.
Bought a beautiful Toyota Camry there today. Jaz was so helpful. I’m very impressed with his stellar customer service skills and completely satisfied with the experience. Would totally recommend this dealership to those of us with less than perfect credit. Or anyone! They don’t make you feel like their doing you this “big favor” by getting you approved for a loan and ultimately taking YOUR money. I felt good about the decision I was making at the time and still feel good about it now. Oh and Jaz..... GIVE THAT YOUNG MAN A RAISE NOW!!
They upsell you on useless services that if you go to other mechanics none of them will recommend. Like preventative of preventative brake service on perfectly intact brakes. Read their Yelp, its full of these services! Clearly this is how this company makes money: by preying on the ignorant. Dont fall victim to them!
Very friendly staff. Helped us find the best car for us.
Great service, I book an appointment same day Romeo help me with he was really profesional, I drop my SUV in the afternoon and Ray was professional they will tell what’s your best options.
Tried to work with them remotely by having my car towed there and working with them over the phone but they refused. I called multiple times and spoke to their service manager but they would not work with me, as I had to sign an iPad to authorize any work on my car ( a digital signature which could not happen unless it was in person, which is absurd.)Called the Walnut Creek location and asked if they could work with me remotely and they responded with a simple yes!. No multiple calls, no asking again and again, no speaking to a manager who refused.Go to Walnut Creek. They give much better customer service.
Excellent service.Mr Signh was great-answerd all our questions, told us everything we needed to know about a new car purchase.
I bought a used Toyota Certified 18’ Camry today. I can’t say enough about the experience. It started with the greeting I got as I walked onto the lot. I was confused and sort of out of sorts because I had gone to the Shattuck location thinking the appointment I made over the phone yesterday was at that location. I was greeted by a nice young man with smiling eyes. He knew who I was before I introduced myself and thanked me for making the trip from Marin. We got right into it. No BS. He asked me what I was interested in and my reply was “unsure, just know I don’t want a Prius”. Jaz’s excellent customer service skills went right into action. He informed me there was a lot to choose from but while leading me to this beautiful charcoal grey loaded Camry. We jumped in and drove down by the water. I felt very comfortable with Jaz’s energy right away. He was informative but also genuinely interested in what I wanted. The financing was super streamlined. As someone with less than perfect credit, they didn’t run my report a thousand times like I’ve heard other places will. I came prepared and it payed off. I left with such a beautiful car and feeling good about the deal. This was a very positive experience and I would recommend these guys ESPECIALLY JAZ to everyone I know. I didn’t leave feeling “sold”. I left with the feeling that they truly wanted to help me. It’s been a tough year for everyone. It’s nice to see the human in people again. Thank you again Jaz for all of your help! Your one of the good guys.
Needed a headlamp bulb at 4pm on a Friday of a holiday weekend - called, drove there, in 10 minutes they were done and only charged me for the bulb....
Such a bad customer service. They break the parts while taking out and charge me for new parts.Really really bad service ..
Used cars were pretty pricey no one acknowledged me when I was looking at used cars.
Very carefree no pressure excellent service as always nobody beats Toyota of Berkeley never have never will
Manager are great and they take care of you what you need for your car.
They are not friendly. Never top up fluids but they always said we did it.
I traveled from Sacramento to Oakland in the middle of the road I got problem with my new Toyota Prius “under the warranty coverage “ and I tow my car to that Toyota and I spent 3 hours in that location on Friday when my car turns came they told me, our daily task is done. You leave the car and come back on Monday. I towed back my car from that location to Sacramento Toyota Metta and next day with one hour they fixed my car. (The car needed sample technical problem) less then hour work. But they are not assist with that.
Trust me when I say as an honest reviewer I dont leave 1 star. First off we brought a 2014 Venza here. Car registration didnt come for 2 months, imagining driving around a car that has no paperwork and getting pulled over. Second, the car that we traded in was purchased by someone else and they got into a car accident and what do you know, they used reached into the glovebox and pulled out my wifes insurance and used it guess who almost had to be reliable for that accident. Thirdly, my wife was driving and got a flat tire, just a small issue, no problem we can change it, reach into the trunk, oh theres no wheel lock key, they didnt bother to check the car and make sure everything is there no roadside assistance or mechanic tire shop will have this, had to pay $28 for the fee. Used car manager Rudy is a cool guy been in this business for 30 years I think. Oh trust me hes very savvy with his words and downplayed every single thing like it wasnt a big deal, everything worked out in the end right? Nope me and my wife suffered but trust me everything worked out like Mr Rudy suggested.
Thorough & friendly service visit - I waited on-site for a lengthy maintenance service & was kept updated the entire time. My inspection sheet was filled out well & there were notes on tread depth & brake condition, which I appreciated.I wont name my service consultant but standing at his desk, he kept following up the prices of services with It may be more expensive than youre used to, being from the Midwest or This is an expensive service.Let your customer know the price of a service, then let them decide if its expensive or not.Dont try & talk customers out of service by validating the fact that its a lot of money, because for some people it may not be.
Great service,
Very professional, highly skilled, and decades of experienced in their service department. My vehicle was fixed right the first time and delivered when promised on time. They also washed, vacuum the inside and detailed my car.
They are operating as safely as I can imagine, and the regular service took about 2 hours.
Great service and very efficient. They did a great repair work, and made some great recommendations with some questions I had. Looking forward to the next service.
Great customer service,very knowledgable.
Very helpful people
Decent service on warranty recalls. Car was ready an hour and a half after they estimated which was inconvenient but the facility was clean and good social distancing protocols were in place.
Fast friendly service. They did a great job fixing my car and I never felt any pressure to be upsold for services I dont need.
Very unprofessional staff in the service department. Had a check engine light come on and went to have it checked out. Little did I know it’s a simple setting on the dash. The service staff had a laugh on me. They kept me there for three hours and made it look like they were working on my vehicle. I felt silly for my mistake but worst of all humiliated by the service staff.
The service is always great here, they are friendly, personable and professional. They have always cimmunicated clearly with me and made me feel comfortable. Will definitely go there again for my next check-in. words for improvement; They could keep the second floor waiting room a bit cleaner (stained couches and lots of debris on carpet)
Excellent service.
Just the best. Saved my Prius a couple of times, always professional, quick, friendly. Highly recommend.
I do my every servicing there. great service. Customer service is helpful. Its a 5-star service.
To be a certified Toyota dealer it leaves a lot to be desired! Guys are friendly but cars are not inspected as they should be like other dealers. The car we bought didn’t have the smog as they called me to bring it back a week later. I think that they didn’t even service the car correctly because “maintenance” light came on sooner than i expected.Make sure you also check the tires correctly cause my 4Runner has two different wear grades on the tires. It just seemed weird that a known certified dealer had a car for sale like this!
Took my 2020 Rav4 in for check engine light. They had to replace both catalytic converters due to defects! They were very helpful and gave me a free rental Rav4 while they were waiting for parts!Awesome customer service!!!
Not helpful or reasonable. Didnt seem to care whether I would buy the car or not after I drove over an hour to get there. Was ready to pay the full price, but just wanted a few cheap Toyota bolts worth at most $10-15 to replace the severely salt damaged ones underneath. Manager declined. Bought my car elsewhere.
My first time here at Toyota of Berkeley in the Albany area to have work done on my car for a Recall. Nice sitting area with WiFi and comfortable sitting area. My car was very dirty I wished they would had asked me about a wash.
Feel cheated!I bought a used Toyota Prius from these guys and they promised free 3 services. When I went to get the car serviced, they turned it into an oil changes only + on one of the service visits didn’t even top up the fluids.Well, this is how they push their customers to work with other mechanics rather than go to the dealership for service!Well done, good bye!!
I do my every servicing there. They have really great service. The employees are helpful. Its a 5-star service.
Best Prices
I received very friendly and courteous service from this place. I stopped by 3 times in a week, each time being helped by a different employee, all with the same friendly attitude! The reason I went 3 times was because the first 2 times I tried to get in without an appointment, which is not a good idea, as they are very busy. The third time, I showed up for my appointment and Jazmine checked me in. She returned the vehicle to me even sooner than I was told, making me very happy. Thanks, Jazmine, and the entire Toyota of Berkeley Certified Service Center staff!
Nice, friendly salesperson, but really needed to be better trained. He tried to tell us that a non-certified used car has no warranty at all, because factory warranties do not transfer to the next owner (totally wrong), and that the benefit of a certified car is that it has the rest of the factory warranty but nothing more (wrong again). He really didnt know his stuff. When I asked about blind spot monitoring, he tried to say there are no blind spots on the Prius because of all the glass (again, totally wrong). Couldnt buy from him because he was clearly making stuff up.
Sony is a non professional sale guy. Left me for over an hour. Wanting to buy 2009 accord. That is still on there lot. Tim Rudy manager never returned calls. I was treated differently at this Albany car lot. Karma is real.😎
The service was excellent as always. Thank you staff
If they have a half star I wouldve gave it to them. Service does not call you when your vehicle is done( oil change), and a very rude manager. Where do they find these people?
The service reps are very unprofessional, untrustworthy, and unreliable. Consistently overpriced (even with their coupons/deals), and always waiting time past their promised finish when you clearly see your call aitting on lot. Cant wait to somewhere else once warranty expires, as weird as that sounds.
Worked with Jasmine in Service and Dave in parts and they were both awesome!
The shuttle service and front desk was good. But I went there for service I doubt did they really performed? Doesn’t seems they even touch my car. I opened and had look the dust all over till piled on engine as before. Anyway it fine as it freee service.
My Toyota needed its airbags replaced. I made an appointment. When I arrived there was no wait. They gave me a ride to and from the BART station. They were very friendly. Why would I ever go back to those jerks at Hanlees on Hilltop, when these people are so friendly and competent.
I find the shop to be very honest and great for maintenance. It is more expensive than like a jiffy lube for oil change but it is worth it in the long run. Especially if you have a toyota- anywhere you move the Toyota maintenance records will be on file. I didnt use the shuttle, just used their WiFi waiting room. My 2 hour window appointment ended up finishing in an hour and 15 minutes.
They have good service. Consistency could be improved. On some days they offer the best you could expect and then there are some when it is pathetic like some other reviews have mentioned.
Good enough service that I will come back for.
Everyone is super friendly and supportive here. Thank you Ray, Jason and Kent.
The service from this Toyota of Berkeley in the Albany area too worst and they dont give proper and exact answers. We bought a used car from this place and the service they provided too worst and they waited for us almost 4 hours to buy a used car and we forgot the 2nd set of the car key and asked for the 2nd set of car key after 10 days and they said this car doesnt come with the 2nd set of key because the previous owner wont give the keys (but when we bought the car on that day, they said it comes with the pair of 2 keys). They simply said we are sorry about that what we said when you guys purchased the car and I told them this is not the right answer to deal with the customers and we dont want to invest more money on this car and finally they said we wont provide the 2nd set of car keys and you can make a 2nd set of car keys through with the car company. I personally recommend you guys, dont prefer to go to this place (Toyota of Berkeley in the Albany area) and it sucks
They told me service would be done at 5 but instead kept my car overnight without telling me, causing me to miss a day of work. Just an insane way to do business.
I live in the proximity and drove my 2007 Lexus to this service center for an oil change. I know there are a lot of bad review on yelp for this place, but I thought how can they mess up if its just an oil change? The bad thing happened... They gave me a call in the afternoon and told me the oil pan was worn out and needed to be replaced for $600!! Its a seven year old car with only 70k miles. How is that possible?! They told me they couldnt put the plug back and I have to do this repair in their shop. WHAT??I talked to the manager Josh the other day at the shop. He was so rude and didnt take it serious. He was even smiling during the conversation. And he insisted that its the fault of the shop where I did the maintenance last time. He even said that I must did a bad work at a cheap shop last time. I did the regular oil change at Lexus Marin and they found nothing wrong with it last time!I asked for a discount since I dont want to drive with a danger of oil leaking. He told me a 20% off is the maximum. He left with the words Ill give you a little time and you could think about itWe decided not to do the repair at this shop, since we dont trust them and their work at all. Josh is the worst body shop manager Ive ever ever faced with. Trust me, its a really bad service center. They messed up the work and theyre not honest at all!! Again, zero star rating. Dont go there, even for oil change!
Really bad customer service. Was interested in a van when the rep named Sam told us it is sold while walking away. We asked him how much it was sold for and he told us it doesnt matter its been sold while still walking away. Wow... Is this place really a certified Toyota dealer?
I have been to this several times for my car servicing. The front desk staff is just there to ask you few question and thats it. I dont see any hospitality or sense of customer service. I was checking their appointment scheduler online for couple of days but theres was nothing available for so many days. I just needed a quick oil change. I went there this morning to have oil change. The girl who came to check in asked whether I had an appt, I said I dont. I told her I can leave my car in morning and pick it up later in the evening. She turned around and asked the guy - at front desk. This guy bluntly said NO, we can not do it. I told the same thing ; picking car later. Another No and he turned around disrespectfully. Well this the end of my story and I am not going back. Visited Toyota at hilltop, Richmond, dropped my car, got shuttle backbto work and picked my car aftet 3 hours- Voila....
The staff are not very pleasant
Ben and their team @ Service Department were awesome, love the work they didthank you guys !
Ive always had excellent customer service from sales, parts, maintainence and repairs, Joes Tires, The Collision Repair Center and the Albany Center near Target. I highly recommend Berkeley Toyota for all your car needs.
BE AWARE: TWO LOCATIONS. SHATTUCK GETS THE COMPLAINTS ON POOR SERVICE. BAYSHORE HWY. GETS THE KUDOS ON GREAT SERVICE!
They rent cars and they dont offer insurance. They ask their clients to bring their own insurance, I bring the insurance provided by my credit card, with a letter from the bank, wher eit states that I am insured for 50,000 and it was declined so I had to rent elsewhere. Luckily for me, there is a Budget and AVIS only 2 blocks away.
We are working with Josh long time and he is a great manager and they do their promises. And they are working hard. Give them a break and respect their job.
I hardly ever post reviews, but I had to share my horrible experience at this service center. I have had my car serviced at a few Toyota dealers and this was my only negative experience. Terrible customer service. Ben, the representative that assisted me, was very unprofessional and did not attempt to accommodate to my needs whatsoever. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this location.
I recently took my Toyota there for service (02/2017) but was actually denied by the overbearing bungle of the assistant manager under the blunder oversight of the GENERAL MANAGER. I was given imprecise information based on intuitive convictions. In addition, I did not bring my vehicle for general service but for a severe overhaul of a detrimental component that needed immediate attention.Furthermore, I was appalled by their lack of motivation to help me and instead I took matters into my own hands. I was encourage to take my vehicle to a different Toyota dealership were I received the well respected service I am entitled, since I have premium and platinum COVERAGE under my purchase agreements. I was muddled by their botched written and spoken inconsistencies. In conclusion, just take your Toyota somewhere else and avoid the headaches by those entrusted to serve the very people that employ them.
Just had my 10,000 service, was greeted before I got into the service area and they took care of the needed things, answered my new car questions thoroughly, and called to let me know it was ready at very close to the estimated time. It was very close to closing time and as promised, they gave the key fob to sales so I could still pick up my car after closing.
We purchased a used 2004 Toyota Highlander with low miles for a very good price. The service was good and we got a good vehicle
Great customer ServiceFriendly staffFree shuttle to and from workHappy customer will return
Their service center is not very helpful. They cannot even install official Toyota accessories.
The service is very good. I did the 5000 miles service and program a new FOB to replace the one lost two weeks ago.
Worst experience i have had at a Toyota company. I made a reservation at 10:45 am on Friday. I didnt not recieve a phone call till 4:40pm that my car was ready to pick up. Six hours for an oil change and I had a reservation. The icing on the cake was the shuttle service refused to pick me up from my location, that was only 5.3 miles away. From my understanding, your shuttle service is a 6 mile radius.Very disappointed in the lack of customer service. Will not be bringing my business back to the Albany location.
Purchased a used 2007 Mini back in February. The dealers are great and efficient, had no issues during the process of signing contracts/filling out paperwork. Also enjoying the car and am happy with it.The reason why this isn’t a 5 Star review is because of the lack response and unexplanable difficulty with being able to speak with the person managing the DMV department. I was originally told that my new set of license plates would be arriving in the mail within 90 days of the purchase. It’s now approaching 4 months since then and every time I have called to speak to “Kenya,” I’m immediately directed to a voicemail inbox and have not received any call backs. The only person who has given me information does not work in that department, and the information they gave me was entirely different from what I was told when I bought the vehicle. He explained that it could take 3-6 months before my new plates arrive because it was a used car purchase; however, when he checked the status, the record indicates that my plates should be arriving within a couple weeks. The waiting period and discrepancy with the information they give is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. Honda of El Cerrito is more efficient than these people! My used 2011 Insight had its license plates sent to me less than a month after purchase, and yet somehow this place is really trying to expect me to believe it will take 6 months?I would have easily overlooked all of this if the gentleman I spoke with wasn’t also seemingly impatient for the duration of the phone call (he consistently talked over me and would not allow me to talk). Gender discrimination? I think yes considering how difficult it is for me to get a simple call back. Totally not at all the same customer experience I had while I was there at the service center.Used car buyers, be warned! They will leave you waiting for months with no response, clear explanation, or proper answer if you’re waiting for new license plates!
I went for a repair in this Toyota repair shop and the service was excellent!!! Someone drove me home and got me back to get my car after the repair was finished.
Worst service center everI recently changed engine oil here and it almost spoiled my whole day. I requested shuttle on Sat morning and driver left voice mail she is leaving now and arrive at 5-10 min. So I was waiting outside for 40 min and she was not coming. She should had to call me when she arrived but she didnt. While I was waiting, I was calling 20 times!! to service center because driver called me private number and they never got a phone call. They should give a business phone to drivers and educated them again.Furthermore, I also experienced and shocked by their lack of motivation to help me as someone else also got. It was so aweful. My service advisor was Husein Grabic and he even didnt wanna say hi / try to see me when I arrived to pick up even though he was there, in front of me. The other person told me sorry but he said they were busy. Thats all they said.Ill never go to this service center. I dont understand why it is one of the official Toyota service center but they should think about this service center again.I strongly recommend to go the other service center. Dont waste your weekend.
Could not make a deal....sadly
I rarely write bad reviews, but my experience here was so terrible. I came to get just a new key made and it took them like 3 days to make it and they didnt even do it correctly. The price I was quoted on the phone was also $150 less than they actually charged me for.
I believe they overtorqued my cars lug nuts. When I had to install break pads by myself and loosen the lug nuts to remove the tire, I found it so hard to break the lug nuts loose and ended up ruining the studs.Edit: wrong toyota service center. This review is for the one on Shattuck. Sorry.
One of the worst customer experiences with their service department. Took my car in to have a spark plug coil replaced, was told it was going to be almost 1500 dollars. Because I do not have this kind of money, my mother offered to pay for the services she lives over 200 miles away. She called in with their credit card and they refused to take payment over the phone. We were told that Credit Card fraud was rampant in our area and not swiping the card would invalidate there ability to retrieve funds. Seriously??? No Online Payment or Over the phone payments, What year is this ??? I pleaded to have an Authorized release form signed and faxed, NO, They have copies of my DL, Insurance, Registration and Still NO. What kind of reputable dealership, service center does not take Credit Card Payment online or over the phone??? Do not take your car to this location.
I drove to the wrong location due to their online chat agants disinformation. Once arrived, I was underwhelmed by the stereotypical demeanor of their sales people and the lack of information and attention they were able to provide. Needless to say, I left without a purchase.
Really bad business practices! They are running a dishonest business. All we needed was an oil change and they said that they cracked the oil housing and tried to make is pay for it. When I asked to see both the old part and the new part the sales manager refused to show me what they had done. Needless to say this was a terrible experience!
5 hours waiting time just to change my oil and not ready yet. Worst service ever.
4 hours for an oil change. What is the point of having appointment???
Pricey, but they do the job rather well and offer car washes.
Super helpful! Love these guys.
Awful. Never again. They left my car in a worse state than when I brought it to them for something simple. I needed the locking button and window button fixed. They returned it to me non-functional.
Great, quick service!
Over priced and scratched my bumper during a oil change
The worst service ever Sean on my lifeBad and expensive they don’t know what they are doing
I was treated well and the service performed was great
Love it here
Great people and service!
