Cute place, but the parfait didnt even look like the item on the menu. Lots of things missing and the service was kinda meh. Great spot to take photos and maybe just get an ice cream
I’m a local Berkeley student and I used to come here a lot. However, they put so much ice in their expensive drinks that if you take three sips, the drink is basically gone. This time, I tried asking for no ice but the owner forces their employees to not change the ice amount to save money.Few months ago they offered discounts for 5 star Google/Yelp reviews and offered great service. It’s definitely gone down the drain.Absolutely disgusting customer service experience
Unwelcoming, smells like a wet mop, terrible serving portions, staff is always shorthanded and cold.Matcha quality is great though.
The decor is very beautiful! It is a great place to take photos. This is a drink/dessert place where you get your order to go or sit down and eat. We went during a quiet time, but I can see it getting full fast. Overall everything was pretty good. The matcha soft serve such as in A5 Namacha Matcha Story is flavorful. However, it melts very quickly. They served us the matcha soft serve and it was already melting down the sides. I thought that was a bit weird. The matcha ice cream such as in the D2 Marukyu Uji Matcha Ice ball is not as flavorful. The staff is nice and knowledgeable about their large menu. It is a nice place to visit, and there is a metered parking lot behind their building.
There’s just one person helping out. The line is huge and service is bad and stupid. Try other great places in Berkeley instead of wasting time waiting here.
An exotic (but necessary) addition to the Berkeley foodie scene! Located in the former beloved Radstons space on Shattuck & Berkeley Way, this Japanese-inspired Chinese matcha haven has already found its way into the hearts of locals and Cal students alike. Ive already invited a friend to meet me there next week, and Im looking forward to working my way through their menu. (All desserts, FYI.) Bonus: my server was extremely knowledgeable and intelligent.
I tried soft serve, matcha latte both are really great. Must go place for matcha lover
This place is pretty good. I highly recommend to drop by and try it out. The matcha soft service with the fish waffle was so good.
I have been waiting for the Amausaan at Clement to reopen for weeks now so drove all the way to this location. I would prefer the Clement location over this. No doubt this location has seating with beautiful ambiance. The matcha soft serve was less in quantity, tasted a little different, melted way too quick and no matcha powder sprinkled on the top, unlike the other location. We also ordered the matcha cheesecake which was good.
Ive tried numerous items from here, all of which I love, but I always come back to the simple matcha soft serve. The ice cream in general is great. I feel like the drinks are ok though many others swear by them. Employees are always attentive, patient and helpful. The interior is really decorative, giving a real sense that youre visiting another country. Before covid, the place was never too crowded and I could usually find seats with some friends.Surrounding area is nice and I am always able to find parking nearby. Being right off campus, you might come across a lot of foot traffic and cyclists but not nearly enough to steer me away from this place.
I have a lot to say about this place. The interior is super cute. The matcha ice cream is super good! But I think I just really like their peach drink. Its so good. Haha! Thats all. :D
So many tempting options! Had to go with Matcha milk crepe cake and loved it. Sorry forgot to take a photo :(
Is this place more of hype/ig worthy? Got the parfait and felt like for the price and contents of inside, it wasnt worth it. Refer to the photo attached. I felt like there was a mixture of cookie crumbs, mochi, slice of fruit, granola, clear jello, whip cream and a dollop of froyo on the top with some decorations. Maybe Im ordering the wrong item?
We knew this place had opened a little time ago and my wife wanted to try one of their drinks. The drink was good. And the rest of their offering seems good. However, if you are looking for a authentic Japanese Matcha place, this might be a a little on the sweet side for you.The place was cute and well decorated. Now on the less good.1. The line was pretty long, so we waited in line for take out, until we got inside and saw a sign telling us to go directly to the counter for take out. The sign should have been placed outside, or the staff could check on new customers once in a while.2. The customer service was bad. The staff seemed lost, made people wait for table for no apparent reasons, etc. Once we got our drink, we told the staff that it was not a full serving as pictured on the menu, but about 80% of it. They responded with an awkward and unapologetic sorry.3. Everything is so slow! It took them more than 20 minutes to get our one drink. And it wasnt because the place was crowded. The kitchen is open, so we could see the staff measuring every ingredients to the gram and checking the recipe book every step. Took one of then a couple of minutes to get a scoop of Matcha ice-cream.This highlights a severe lack of proper training and supervision.
Hoji soft-serve with the waffle fish cone is on point.
One of the few fine dessert providers can find in Berkeley. Not too sweet, love it.
Wish the matcha taste to be stronger and less sweet
The ambiance is amazing and posh feels like walking around japan
Great Japanese desserts, but pricey
When you arrive, the first feeling would be a Japanese feeling. There’s just this vibe that welcomes you to this aroma of Japan. The employees are very kind and efficient. Their ice cream A1 and A4 taste pretty nice. They have a unique taste. The texture is everyone other ice cream but the taste is it’s the best trait. They also accept all payments. This includes Visa, Master, and electronic payment. If you are around I recommend this place and remember to bring an appetite because there are many more dishes for you to try. Please note that they are on the pricey side.
Overall, a cute desert place. We got the matcha cheesecake and the black tea ice cream, and we loved how strong the tea flavors were - not overly sugary at all! It was quite pricey though, but I think the ambiance of the store makes up for it.
We tried the matcha and black tea soft serve here and it was delicious. I really liked the black tea flavor. The flavors were very rich and you can definitely taste the good ratio of tea and milk. Also really enjoyed the charcoal cone, both flavorful and crunchy.I would recommend this place, and will come back to try other desserts on the menu.
Cute place, but rip off. Not sure if I want to come back now that I know they pack your drink with so much ice you literally only get 3 good sips. Additionally, the ice cream cones are hollow, so they might look like you get a satisfactory size cone, but in reality no...one lick and you will notice the core of the cone is empty and hollow. I came into this cute place feeling good, but left feeling cheated.
I got the black tea soft serve. It is good and unique. I also enjoyed the matcha latte drink, it has great flavor and not overly sweet. This location looks very nice. I love it and will come back to try other desserts.
The soft serve was really good. The line was really long though
This is a really nice place for matcha desserts and to just chill with your friends! I love the vibes of this place. I highly recommend it, in fact 10/10 would recommend to anyone lucky enough to be in the area!
Got the black tea soft serve. It was refreshing. The matcha lattes taste great.A nice place to come with friends or enjoy a little time by yourself. The interior is beautiful.
I got the black tea soft serve. It was refreshing. I also got the matcha lattes and it was delightful. This is a great place to come with friends or enjoy a little time by yourself. The ambience made the experience felt more authentic.

Glad that I found this place while walking around Berkeley Downtown. Ordered the Matcha Latte Drink and Matcha Cheesecake. Everything was delicious, excellent service and servers. Highly recommended!
Love the matcha here!
I changed from 5 stars to 1 star because of very unprofessional customer service. Not just once but multiple times.Important to note that I used to like this place a lot that I drove all the way from Concord which is 20 miles away.
We tried their Macha pastry and latte. The latte was a bit too sweet for my friends liking. Also, the staff are nice and the decor is cool!
This place is great. My wife is very picky but she really enjoyed the matcha taste here than the other four local competitor. Recommended highly.
Saw this new place while walking around in downtown of Berkeley. It has beautiful decor and good desserts.I got the A4 soft serve and shared the matcha shaved ice B7 with my wife. The staff is friendly and helpful. I didnt have to wait too long for my orders. Highly recommended if you are craving for matcha desserts!
Matcha is good but not the cheesecake.
30mins before close, we were only able to get the ice cream to-go items. Sufficient matcha flavor (bitter and sweet) without the bitter being overpowering. Will come back to try the mille crepe and other desserts
Fantastic place if you like matcha. Get the Kyoto Cube Matcha Latte - super cool looking drink!
Lovely Japanese decor with yummy Japanese soft serve and desserts. Staffs need to relax and smile more.
One of the my favorite matcha ice cream in town. The ambience is nice and cozy. The staffs were nice and friendly.Highly recommended this place for matcha lover.
Went here and tried the matcha parfait. It’s pretty good. I would recommend.
Came here for their matcha soft serve. However, the machines was broken. We tried the matcha shaved ice instead. The service is good. The staff is friendly and helpful. I didnt have to wait too long for my orders.I would come back to try other desserts on the menu.
Delicious. Love it! Staff could be more organized. Could use a curtain to cover messy kitchen.
A nice place to enjoy your desserts. The matcha cake was quite delicious and the service was great. This is a good place for matcha lovers and not too sweet desserts.I would like to visit again.
I went to this place twice in one day. I got the A6(soft serve with toppings) E1(Mille Crepe) and D1(Parfait) as well as the Milk Cocoa matcha. My favorite is definitely the parfait. It had a little bit of everything on the menu. None of the items I had was overly sweet. There are definitely savory notes in the dishes. Which is great because I was able to consume the entire thing without A) feeling guilty and B) feeling sick C)feeling bloated. Typically desserts are too sweet in general but this has a perfect balance.
I have been here a couple of times, and their desserts never disappoint me.This time I got the matcha mille crepes E1 and the parfait D1 to share with my wife. As I expected, they were tasty. Their menu is really diverse and has a lot of different options.Highly recommended this place for matcha lover.
Matcha wasnt overly sweet like many Americanized versions. Have obviously taken great care of products and all the sweets our group got, the Soft serve Matcha, the Mille de Crepe (both Choco and Matcha) were all very good. Pity it was late. Wouldve liked to try some of their other stuff but they were out. Enjoyable for all ages, from sweet lovers to those with a more milder palate who prefer the delicate balance of semi-bitter sweetness of Matcha.
The restaurant has a very nice interior and has good desserts too. We Tried the mille matcha cake and soft serve. They both tasted good. Service is great as well. Overall, I would recommended it.
Nice, sit down dessert shop with matcha themed desserts. I had black tea soft serve and it was yum!
Nice decor. I really enjoy the black tea soft serve.
A nice place for matcha desserts. They have a lot of varieties.
The matcha parfait is delicious here. I thought that the desserts will be sweet, but was wrong. The taste is not sweet which is the original taste for matcha. This is a good place for matcha lovers and not too sweet desserts.Very good services, especially Emily. She is very helpful and informative when I asked about the menu. The interior is beautiful. Feels like I’m in Japan!
I loved everything I ordered and loved the whole atmosphere...unfortunately when we went (at 1 o clock when they opened for the day) we wanted to have taiyaki ice cream cones, but got the response, oh we arent serving that because it takes too long. We heard that explanation to a few other items on the menu. It sounded more like an excuse than a real reason to serve it. If you arent ready to serve all the items on your menu, dont open, or dont advertise it.That being said, our green tea mille crepe, and green tea soft serve were delicious. Everything had a perfect balance of flavor, and just the right amount of sweet, where it doesnt overpower at all. The only down fall of this place was that they didnt offer everything on the menu that was shown.
This place has good matcha lattes and soft serve. Both taste delicious to me.
The matcha soft serve is amazing. Not overly sweet, just right.
Being a matcha lover, how could I resist this cute little shop serving all matcha desserts!!! They have all sorts of desserts from soft serve to mille-feuille cake to matcha lattes and parfaits. All their desserts are very high quality, using real matcha. You can tell from the slight bitterness in the aftertaste.I especially loved the decoration inside with the little torii gate and bridge. Theres also a fun little fortune telling station where you can draw a number and read your fortune! You can also make little wishes.Getting the matcha soft serve in a charcoal cone to go is just as good, since theres often a wait so be seated inside.
The matcha place that made me feel like I am in Japan. The service was excellent, and the matcha incorporated in the ice cream was fresh and the latte was refreshing, not too sweet.Overall it was a great experience coming here for matcha desserts.
Love the black tea soft serve and the matcha latte. Delicious!!!
Terribly slow service. Treats are good but probably wont be going back. Took 40 mins to get two scoops of ice cream served.
Delicious parfait. Love it! Very cute decor.
Matcha soft serve is pretty good here. Highly recommended.
Tasty soft serve. Very flavorful. Love it!
Ordered the matcha mille crepes. It tasted decent and love the concept of the store. Very creative.
The matcha soft serve and cheesecake were delicious, excellent service & servers. Definitely recommend and definitely will be back again.
Love this place! The soft serve and lattes are so good!
It has a very nice interior and has really good desserts too. We tried the mille matcha cake and soft serve. Both taste good and the matcha is not too strong. Service is great as well. Overall really recommend for nice dessert or drinks .
This place reminds me of the dessert shops in Japan! You can get matcha soft serve, parfait, mille crêpe cake, latte and a whole lot more. Save some room after dinner or live a little and get your sweets before your savory!
Love the matcha soft serve here and great service.
We tried the matcha crepe, the matcha and bean ice cream in a chocolate cone and the matcha and coconut drink and all three of them where really good! The place was packed so we had to wait a little bit but it was well worth it. Being a new place it is normal that things take longer, but I hope this cute little shop will be really successful!
You have a lot of expectation when you enter such an desserts and ice cream store. The café looks very japanese, with nice and soft music in the background. The menu is good with a lot of choices, even if too much matcha, also of good presentation and quality. But the service is not at the same level. It takes long for the order to come, the staff is not clear about what you ordered and you have to repeat at least twice. Too bad because it could deserve 4 stars, maybe even 5 with upgraded service.
A4 some of the most delicious matcha Ive cream Ive ever had
I love the matcha ice cream with the black cone, and the daifuku. Been waiting to try the Oreo daifuku, but it’s sold out every time I go. It must be delicious!
Delicious matcha desserts. Definitely recommend for matchaer!!
Delicious matcha shaved ice and ice cream. Love it!
Good stuff and nice drinks. Enjoyed this place!
The food is great and the environment is very nice too. But a bit pricey.
