This store offers a great selection of fabrics - from wovens to knits to everything in between. You can easily spend at least 30 minutes just walking around the store to take a look at everything. The workers are also very helpful.Checking out was quick - you bring your fabric to the counter and you get it cut and you also check out at the same time. There is no need to wait on someone at the cutting counter to help you and then you wait in line again to check out.

This place is so great. Very friendly, local shop that has been here for *sew* long. When I ordered the wrong thing online, they were quick to fix it, even while working with less staff than usual in these trying times.

Disappointed. I ordered two fabrics and one was apparently out of stock. Every other fabric store Ive ever ordered from has contacted me and let me know and/or seen if I still wanted the rest of my order. This store did not. They never informed me it was out of stock until my order arrived, and given that 16 days has now passed, it is proving impossible to find this fabric elsewhere when I could have found it chosen to order it from a different place 16 days ago. Will not be purchasing from again.

I design and make custom handbags and pillows. This place has the BEST and most interesting fabrics!!! Since I do custom work, I can find prints here that I could never hope to find anywhere and at a very reasonable price point.The staff is always very helpful, knowledgeable and the friendliest in town as far as Im concerned! People are very helpful and knowledgeable. They explain things very thoroughly and give you options based on what you are looking for. You are even allowed to ask for samples of fabric you are look at to see if it is what you are looking for.

This place is so fun. I always head upstairs to the sale room. I think theres more in the store than online so its definitely worth the BART on over to Berkeley. The staff is always super helpful. It can get overwhelming because no other fabric store has such variety but that seems like a good problem to have.

This is an old-fashioned fabric shop with a wonderful inventory. We were able to buy the raw silk we couldnt find anywhere else. The fabric selection is everything that JoAnns doesnt have and the quality is top notch. They have a good selection of notions and a wonderful collection of buttons. The lady who waited on us was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Great selection, decent prices, (the half off bolts upstairs were a Greta find) lots of other notions useful materials and staff was extremely helpful and supportive of what I needed.I ready appreciated their advice and expertise. So nice to have this walking distance from me instead of having to shlep to Joanns.

My favorite fabric store of all time (I have been sewing for over 50 years).Took my grand niece there and she was enthralled; we found great scraps in the free pile so all we had to buy was elastic for her first project.

Astounding selection of fabrics...indigo patterned cottons, hand quilted cottons, silk jerseys, colorful woven trims from Guatemala etc. Knowledgeable, helpful sales people. Emphasis on fabrics for garments rather than home decor. Beautiful sample garments to inspire you. Ive not seen another textile store that comes close to what this store has to offer.

Finest fashion fabric store in the bay area. Located on Shattuck in Berkeley. Its a small, two story shop that had a fine selection of indie patterns as well as all your sewing needs, including specialty items. All textiles are first quality and reasonably priced. They also do mail order. Metered street parking. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their products. Great place for all your quality sewing needs.

I live a block from Stonemountain for >5 years and always loved it there. Im an apparel designer and they have a humongous selection of apparel fabrics like rayons and knits in really good prints and colors. After moving, I realized how much of a gem it was.

This is a store created by people who love to make things with fabric, for people who love to make things with fabric. They get awesome, high quality piece goods for fashion-oriented sewers. They also have a great selection for quilters, but I am there for their distinctive fashion fabrics.

Great selection of fabrics with an emphasis on patterned cottons (or is that just me?) and notions (dont miss the button collection). Friendly staff that does not hound you. Well set up so you dont end up standing at an empty cutting table wondering if you should wait or go hunt someone down.

Incredibly helpful folks. I wanted to sew a difficult Victorian dress for the Dickens fair and they were able to guide me in every step of the process. They really know their stuff. Excellent.

The staff at this shop always greet you upon entering. Are willing to let you try to find what you need yourself before asking if you need assistance. When I actually have a question(like: how do you like this snap fastener and how do the adapters come into play?) I always get more info than I could ever possibly need to make my decision. The knits are not as varied as the wovens and the trims are not extensive, but always of the best quality and more interesting than what you find at other local shops.If you are working on one pretty thing, this is the shop for you.

The most expansive fabric selection Ive found in the East Bay. We just kept pulling more and more beautiful fabrics. A good selection of kids fabrics, animal prints, Asian prints, dots, stripes and plain colors. We didnt have such a great time with the service but just helped ourselves to the fabrics we were interested in. Ive been back twice since my first visit.

Extremely good selection of 100% cotton fabric. Prints are all the way from food and novelty items, traditional Japanese, to watercolor type batik blues and everything in between. The entire staff is super friendly and very helpful when needed. This fabric store always needs to be here, has its become a staple of the must have stores only found in Berkeley. I LOVE THIS STORE

Best fabric store I have ever seen. The selection of fabrics is great, but the helpfulness of the staff is even greater.

Great selection of fabrics. A large selection of quilting cottons (which I dont use) but also many other fabrics available. Good selection of notions as well. I can never seem to find buttons even though they have an enormous wall of them. Staff are usually very busy with customers but if you can get someones attention theyre always helpful and knowledgeable. More expensive than JoAnns but with their coupons you get almost as good a price and a nicer shopping experience.

The most knowledgeable and organized fabric store in the East Bay. The selection of cotton prints is unparalleled and organized by color, so you can easily coordinate a quilt. The apparel fabric selection seems pretty good, too.This is the place to go if you’ve been sewing since you were a kid or if you’re new at it. Not cheap, but the bolts aren’t strewn all over the floor and dirty, sooooooSomething unique: they carry some indie designer patterns that are designed to be easy to sew (but not shapeless, as most beginner projects are... where were these patterns when I was learning to sew??).

I wanted to alter a dress after taking a 10 year break from sewing. I came in to chat about the best way to make the alterations. The women at Stonemountain were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable.

Kashi was super helpful and really sweet. I expressed that I had to leave work early to get there and he told me to call ahead and he will stay and wait for me next time. I let him know that I was making a skirt for the first time in years and he helped me to pick out some great fabrics for beginner. He even showed me some fabrics that he had just gotten in today and quickly learned my style. Im going to tell all my friends and come back for all my fabrics.

Many options of fabric and color to choose from. However, If you dont know what you are looking for, and expect to be greeted and ask if you need help, you wont get it from the staff. Everybody is so busy at the counter nobody is on the floor to help customers. I went twice in the same week. Both times, I wasnt ask if I needed help. I got tired of wating and eventually walked out.
