Owner/Operator(s) are compassionate, Top Quality people. As a Berkeley Homeless person, Ive made my home in their doorstep. They have treated me with kindness and welcoming. As a non-Gamer -- not necessarily by personal choice -- I cannot speak to the quality of their product/service, but I know Best Quality when I see it. I highly recommend Eudemonia, an enterprise that embodies Best Quality Heart as well as the very spirit of Adventure and Intrigue that is the soul of Berkeley. - Kevin Mitchell Jue, Dublin, California
Store hours posted to Google are not correct. Drove all the way down here to a closed shop
Better selection of snacks than most gaming places Ive been to. Large tables in the backroom for RPGs. Digital registration when you walk in. Short-staffed right now but otherwise no complaints!
Permanently Closed as of April 30th 2021
Was a great place to order a magic deck. You just sit down run through their computer inventory and place your by order. Within a couple minutes the guys have it all pulled and youre out of there. I didnt an entire deck and the whole thing only took me like 15 minutes.
PCs with internet for rent. You can use their tables to play Magic or some other game free of charge. They also sell a few snacks and have a vending machine. Ceiling is really high and lighting is a bit poor. Would recommend if you want to play some games.
Very casual atmosphere inside. Theres no one who will sneer at you for being a beginner, unlike some places. All the staff are super friendly. The card experts are knowledgeable, and can recommend whatever you need. Theres tables in the back that you can simply come in and sit down, no purchase necessary. Overall, I love this place. If you want to have a good, friendly experience, and I recommend you visit!
Employees are cool, store has good board game swag in it, and that bowl of dice has given me an addiction problem. Would highly recommend.
A great place to spend time. Everyone is really nice.
Eudemonia is great! I always enjoy coming here and I hope they stick around for a long time.
A great experience, played on the computers there for hours. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The prices are great, esp. The $3/hr student rate. Dont let the bad reviews put you off, they are all from years ago and the place is much better than they describe.
Bought a 100 set of card protectors for $11 here. By the next day, the protectors had started falling apart. They only lasted me 3 days. I went to Games of Berkeley and got higher quality Dragon Shield protectors for the same price as the generic ones from Eudemonia. They have a great selection of mtg cards, but I dont appreciate being overcharged for cheaply made products.
I have only visited the store for MTG, that being said they have it ALL! Also a great location for selling unwanted cards. Easy to use website for buying and selling. They have replied to 1 of 2 emails I have sent but always answer the phone. I cant give 5 stars due to not having experience with playing there or any computer gaming related activity.
Came in found partner for battlebond. Some guy who signed up earlier complained because he was there first but yet I found the partner first so got removed from tournament. They didnt even have it setup for 2 people sign up and only individually so everyone had to re sign up so very unorganized. OK than.... Asked if I can purchase cards and said make a list and he will get them. I made a list took me about 20 minutes. Said I got list ready and says sorry I am about to close out now even though it was 735 and they stay open until midnight. I didnt see a closing on when they can sell cards.....people seemed a bit off there and only met 2 nice people. I wont return due to this experience. Do not bother responding and try to solve the problem because I really dont care. And this is an earned 1 star. Congratulations you did it!
What a great place! I got there for MTG most weeks and the admission is very reasonable
Great shop for all your boardgames and card games needs. Has tons of available space to play, friendly staff, great prices and huge selection on MTG singles. Also has a net Cafe for PC gaming.
Great selection of MTG cards at reasonable prices and tons of play space. Computers as well but they dont seem to be the fastest things. Luckily thats not what I go there for!
Friendly experts cultivate a fun atmosphere for tabletop gaming. Incredible selection and service. Stop in, play some games, and enjoy!
Offers a great selection of TCG related items, as well as board games and a few D&D books. There are plenty of tables in the back for events and if you just want to play some games. Also offers computer rental for gaming.
Has a very gamer vibe to it. Comfortable for any type of person who likes just about anything. Most of the people there are really nice too
Fun place to play games. Too bad some of the computers suck and its hard to know which ones are good. I wish they would upgrade the bad ones as its almost always packed.
The kinda place that you can walk in without knowing anything. They seem happy to answer any questions and dont get frustrated. Lots of space to play, chiller in the back, friendly people.
Great place for gamers and trading card game player. The workers are nice and helpful. They put effory to make it a friendly and safe place for players.
Super fun place whether you wanna compete or just stop n shop
Great Community for Magic players.
Ok store for mtg events, but sometimes the website has the wrong time, and if you sell a card here, you dont nearly got what you should. i once sold a 30 dollar card for only $17, which sucks.
Best place to play games. Im so glad that we have it here in Berkeley! No smoking, great computers and internet speed, friendly staffs. Good pricing as well for price/hour.
Nice pc bang, gets a bit busy so you might wanna come early to guarantee a spot
Good people running a good game store. Atypically, eudo has computers to rent ala a 90s internet cafe where ppl play Overwatch, LoL etc. There are 8+ tables mainly used for ccgs and dnd sessions. As of Oct 2019, pokemon and mtg have big turnout and keyforge has small tournaments sundays.Stocks board games, sells mtg singles and all sorts of sleeves, deck boxes and other accoutrement. They have a useful website for event calendar and good staff you can call to answer questions.
Good 1-stop shop for Magic the Gathering, a few board games are offered as well.
A really fun Magic the Gathering store. They also have some other games and rentable gaming pcs you can play games on. Their MtG singles selection is superb but be warned their pricing is slightly above tcg market. A great place to buy cards and play in the Berkeley area.
My favorite MTG store. Availability of singles is great and the buylist is very convenient.
I love playing Magic the gathering here! They also have other game nights, board games for sale, VR and lots of computers for gaming on... There are a lot of options :)
The nicest, well laid out, and cleanest game store in the bay area.
Eudemonia feels like a gaming paradise, lots of computer stations and tables, and is a comfortable place to kill time and hangout in downtown berkeley. Lots of regulars.
Best place for getting magic also tried VR for the first time here and because of that I am now developing VR games
Great calendar of activities. Been playing magic there a few times a week. Good crowd and friendly people.
Extensive collection of Magic: The Gathering cards and a great place to just hang out.
I spent the last few weeks going to different LGSs close to me in the Bay Area. Im writing a review of each place I went to based on their magic the gathering merchandise, Friday and Monday night magic.Eudemonia has a huge play are compaired to other places. The tables are a bit close together but the amount of space makes up for the crampt environment. Yes, if the dude next to you is stinky, you will get to smell it. Grade BIf your there to draft, sign up is easy. You walk over to a small pad and input your information. You are automatically added to a que which shows up on the screen mounted on the wall. At any time you can look at that screen and see how many people are signed up for which draft. You can also check this live updater on the website. Signing up for a draft is also possible on the website. This alone makes this place better the average LGS. Grade A-Eudemonia has a pretty good assortment of deck boxes, play mats, dice, etc... You name it, they have it. I found the price of deck boxes and sleeves are on par with the other stores in the Bay Area. If your just getting started in trading card games and want your stuff now. This is the place. You can get better deals on line. Grade B+Booster boxesEudemonia has a large assortment of booster boxes available. They generally have all of them in stock. Like most places they are displayed behind the counter making it easy to see. The bad part about their booster boxes is the price. They are insanely over priced. A War of Spark booster box is going for $135 at Eudemonia WOW!! Considering Amazon has them for a little over $100. About $110 is the average. Eudemonia is a whole $20 over that price. Lets compare their price to the lowest price I found in the Bay Area, that would be at Verses games. You can buy a box there for $111 which is right in line with Amazon but if you are part of their members program which is $20 a month, you can buy the boxes at a discount for $80 plus tax. Thats a $50 difference. Box prices here are a total rip off. In no way do I recommend buying a booster box from Eudemonia games. Grade FThe workers at Eudemonia are very pleasant and have great knowledge about the products they sell. See seem to want to help you with your needs and provide you with good info about the stores inter workings. This place must have a theft problem because one of the workers watched and followed me around for a good portion of the time I looked at the books and deck boxes. He made me feel pretty uncomfortable and not want to touch any of the products. Grade BAside from extremely high booster box prices and employees that will stalk you and make you feel uncomfortable while looking at merchandise, Eudemonia is a pretty good place to play Friday night magic or just meet up with some friends to play some cards. I highly recommend EudemoniaOver all grade B+
Small game shop with heavy emphasis on collectible card games (Magic, Netrunner, KeyForge, etc.) and LAN gaming. Lots of organized play events.
Best (read as only) drafting in town
A classic example of why this place is a joke. With the last MCQ at this location I am not alone with many other players feeling taken advantage of. Time and time again this location has been a joke in the competitive community and should not be considered for future premier events. For years Eudemonia has been a joke of a premier location and should not have the privilege of hosting premier events. My issue with the MCQ are as follows.1. Over the course of promoting the event it was understood explicitly that 100% of entires would be distributed in the prize pool. This conversation remained explicit even through the later round of the event. Last minute it is communicated that this was an error and prize support would be decreased by nearly $4,000. Poor prize support practice are not new for this business and has caused bad blood amongst players.2. Lack of judge staffing. Throughout the event judge staff was stretched thin. Calls taking longer than they should the even be addressed let alone resolved. A clear result of under staffing the event. A factor that should addressed through mandating staffing minimums.3. The parking for this venue is atrocious. This is primarily a side effect of the city of Berkeley though needed to be taken in consideration for premier event locations.
The only internet cafe with gaming computers in this side of the bay. if you love magic the gathering then this is the spot for you and would be a 5 star location
Fantastic service and selection for all your Magic the Gathering and other gaming needs.
A great place for playing Magic. Ive had excellent experiences playing two-headed-giant prereleases, modern, and pauper. While Ive encountered some problems regarding store credit mixups and buying cards, the staff has always been very responsive and has never left me feeling as if an issue was left unresolved. If youre looking for a place to improve your play against decent opponents, then this is a competitive but social environment to do so.
This place is a MTG paradise! The staff is very knowledgeable on past and present cards.
Really good card/gaming store. Very friendly and helpful staff!
Simply the best magic shop in the bay area. friendly community, good selection of modern and standard staples and solid schedule of events and prize support. More intimate than CFB but the most serious magic shop in the east bay and San Francisco
Cool shop with a good selection but some of the employees seem distant and will straight up ignore you when you try to ask them something
Great mtg play and selection. high performance computers. HOWEVER, they need to make eudemonia card sleeves.
Contrary to other reviews I found the staff engaging and friendly, the store well stocked and the PCs to be clean and easily running DotA 2, CS:GO, LoL and others. You do have to bring your own headset and possibly PC+mouse, I only checked out the game performance. Lots of board games and MTG with tables and willing opponents.Looking forward to coming back!
As far as I know, the only place in the Bay Area that supports Vintage tournaments.
Good card shop, bit pricey but has what you need
Fun place to play computer and role playing games.
Great chill place, low prices per hour, and tons of board/card games.
Friendly staff, fun events, good stock of cards and games, and plenty of table space.
Great gaming store! They run lots of mtg events and have a decent prize payout
A great place to come and play MTG. They have lots of open table space when theres not an event going on.
Fun Nerd-out place.
Nice staff and decent selection!
Good place, good selection of magic cards. Lots of play space. Friendly staff.
Good gathering hub for trading card and board games, computers arent very good however, people use them
They have lots of fun games and the night we went there was awesome.
Great store, the employees are friendly and helpful. If you like MtG then you wont find anywhere better.
New location on Bancroft! Still in progress but should be just as awesome as the old location.
Great store, best place for MTG freaks
Only commenting on PC gaming. Bay area is very scarce on LAN gaming centers (not a nerd paradise), and Eudemonia was the closest, so there I went. It had very very very old PCs that couldnt properly run Fortnite or even Dota 2, I couldnt launch some of the other games at all, and most of them werent updated, so I had to wait before launching anything. Mouse randomly stopped working, so I had to unplug and plug it back in, mouse pads are very small (have you guys ever played any games?) and super worn. You have to pay extra (though very little) to rent headphones and provide some kind of collateral (apparently customers steal equipment here), alas, headphones did not work either. The equipment is not just old, but also very dirty, I had to take a shower after touching the offered keyboard and mouse, I dont think these were ever cleaned since the day of the purchase, seriously, its not difficult to clean equip, please try doing that once in a while. There werent many people using PCs (no surprises here), but the ones that were - played some creepy games. Ive been visiting LAN centers in different countries for almost 20 years, this was my worst experience by far, I didnt finish my time and just left. The 4 star review was very misleading, might be because of MTG services (never played, have no clue), but the PC gaming is barely a zero - this is not gamers for gamers type of place. Fortunately there are some actually good places in Bay, though located less conveniently.
Good place to nerd out and ply board games.
Best MtG spot north of San Jose.
Formerly focused on LAN gaming, Eudo has changed to specialize in Magic The Gathering. Dealers are at the top of their game with assisting databases and expertise. After MTG events, they allow tabletop RPGs and board games. A new VR console is clean and can be rented. Bathrooms are public, thus a graffiti and homeless-smells nightmare.
It’s pretty good and stuff
I was a new magic player and went to the store they really helped me get better . If you are a kid the junior planeswalkers sosity is amazing for older magic players and some young there are draft, modern,pre/release pro tour players play there. prices and there employee are great they have board games and magic. They also buy cards . ☺
Nice place. Cool staff.
Great selection of singles, friendly staff and great place for all kinds of tabletop events
As far as I know, this is the best place to play Magic cards in the East Bay.
Love Magic and the staff
Come here to play in the competitive MtG tournaments and buy MtG accessories, not much else since single card prices are a bit on the higher side.
Large number of computers, D&D books with some others, many other P&P RPGs.
Very unhappy after Eudogames cancelled my pre-order when prices spiked after release. Bad business practices!
Staff is friendly, best selection of mtg cards in Berkeley.
Internet faster & computers for Windows games.
Has space in the back to place games but magic the gathering players get priority use those tables.
Selection of singles is picked over at times.
Best card magic store in the realm
Nice atmosphere, clean and well lit.
It the best place Berkeley has to offer....
Eud has a great staff and owner and is, all-in-all, the best place for Magic in Berkeley. Drafts 3 days a week, PTQs, and all the release and pre-release events plus special promos and raffles - these keep me coming back. I have also enjoyed other events at Eud such as Board Game Night and Ive played many RPGs there.I dont use their computers, since I have a fine one of my own, so I have nothing good or bad to say about them.
Best place to game in the east bay
Computers need more attention.
Great store to buy some gaming equipment from for certain card games but can be too cramped
Good place to play!
Fun people and lots of Magic
Great computer gaming and gaming store
If you order cards online for in store pickup, make sure to call ahead and have them pull your order.
Good place
Great place.
Good computers.
Its not the best
Place has starwars destiny stuff
There are a bunch of Magic tournaments, Pokemon tournaments, D&D, Pathfinder, card games and board games alike.
