Sean is an exceptional repairman and he has other skilled technicians working with him. Ive brought various saxophones in over the years and he has always performed first-rate work at very reasonable prices and is very easy to work with. More than once he has suggested fixes that I didnt know were possible and has really kept my and my sons saxophones operating at top level. A Bay Area resource!
Shaun always does a great job on my saxes, flutes, and clarinets. Just got my tenor back and it feels better than ever.
So friendly! Went out of their way to help us. Made our old, trashed, missing pieces, obscure brand trumpet look brand new! Will refer everyone I know. Except this is where they already bring their instruments. Because they are well aware of how good these guys are.
Super knowledgeable and friendly. Always helpful in a pinch!
This was a very stress free and down to earth business to work with along with great customer service. I am glad I found this shop. I definitely agree with all of the positive reviews. Quality is rare these days and you definitely get it here. Thank you sir.
Thank you so much for the work on my flute, it is singing like a bird!! I took it in for post-lockdown maintenance. I play it every day and it had a number of leaks after a year and a half. Wonderful job, Thank you!!
Wind & Brass Instrument Repair got my alto sax into playing shape quickly, for a very reasonable rate. I really appreciate that Shawn addressed my specific problems and questions, yet let me know upfront about extra things he could fix, *before* simply going ahead. I know this level of communication isnt always easy for a busy repairperson, but as a working musician I appreciate it greatly. In my case, I wanted my saxophone back in playable condition A.S.A.P. and didnt necessarily care about finer details, such as having my octave key action perfectly tweaked to spec (I like it the way it is), or my neck screw bracket re-built. Hopefully I can return for more thorough repairs or an overhaul in due time. Recommended!
I loved my experience at this quaint and cozy repair shop! I am a viola player and had my bow rehaired, bow-tip fixed and had a new bridge cut for me after mine was beginning to warp again. Jonathan took great care of my instrument, is kind, thoughtful, very gifted ad highly skilled when it comes to string instruments. My entire string quartet ended up going here for bow rehairs and second violinist got a brand new bow tip. All beautifully executed and priced very reasonably. You wont be find a cheaper quality bow rehair anywhere in the Bay.
Shawn is great to work with ... very knowledgeable, polite and responsive. Did great work in bringing my old King 2B trombone back into playing shape, and for a very fair price. Big thumbs up for this shop.
Due to bad saxophone parenting, my horn was in urgent need of repair one Saturday and I found Shawns shop online. He did an excellent job fixing a dent and soldering the tone hole, just in time for my gig later that day. Im forever grateful! Hes a great repairman and made me feel at home while I waited. It was great getting to know him while I waited. Thanks Shawn!
Brought older instrument in to get a piece replaced and to “tune up” the instrument....clean it up, etc. Were told the piece that needed replacement is not available and the instrument “couldn’t” be fixed, rather it should be turned “into a lamp”. Brought it to a different shop and that new shop was able to fix it. Miraculously, the piece that needed fixing was able to be tracked down, the instrument was shined up like new, and it works amazingly. My 14 year old son is thrilled. Too bad because the first experience at this place was decent. Not so much the second.
I dont often write reviews but this was so poor- it was worth my time.Disappointing interaction with Sean via phone. Phoned to inquire about a repair service and he acted as though my phone call was a bother. When I saidGood morning, how are you his reply was yea. Whats up!?! and not in the fun cool hip way. His tone was annoyance. Didnt seem helpful via phone. Why would I spend my money with such a poor customer service experience via phone.Customer service is in need of a RETUNE!
Im sure that I am one of the pickiest trombonists in the Bay Area, and I highly recommend slide repair with Sean!
I brought a vintage wood flute over to Eva and Shaun for an overhaul. They gave me a very good price, and went beyond the call of duty to bring this flute into perfect working order, even though it required way more work than they originally thought. They are truly artists at their craft!
Friendly and knowledgable. Quickly helped me with my sons trumpet.
A great place to repair your instrument! Hospitality is very nice!
Owner is awesome, prices very reasonable, quick turnaround.
I needed a brace support soldered back together and my spit valve soldered back on to my trombone, so I decided to check out the newly established Wind & Brass Repair off San Pable Avenue. I called in prior and as soon as I arrived I was greeted kindly and served with stoke. They shared the full repair process with me, talked shop and fixed my gifted trombone within 20 minutes, ready to walk out playing in the streets. Thank you guys! Will most definetly return for any fixins needed down the road!!
Great repair service, was able to fix up my R-13 to restore the beautiful tone that had faded over years of playing & pad wear, and balanced out the tuning on my tenor sax so i could finally control the intonation between octaves, something other shops said was just a natural part of playing the sax after fsiling to correct the pitch (which is partially true, intonation varies by pitch on any sax, but it shouldnt vary by 20-25 cents from C# to D).Aside from repair services, prhaps the best part of this store is that its the only shop apart from Lees in SF which will BUY, SELL, & CONSIGN pro-level clarinet and Saxophone mouthpieces, barrels, ligatures, and more. I was able to try out clariet Barrels by Fobes, Buffet, Vandoren, Backun(ringless&phatboi), Ridenour, I tried Sax mouthpieces by Otto link, Meyer, Dukoff, Berg Larsen, and even a ultra-rare FRANK KASPAR for alto sax(didnt even know he made sax mouthpieces). He had more options on top of those, and also more reeds and ligatures for clarinet and sax than I could name. Admittedly, Ive seen a bigger inventory at other sax shops, but his prices are always lower, usually by quite a large margin.Anyway, its clear I love this place, if you want honest repairwork and pro-level accessories at a fraction of their cost online(also you can try it before you buy it), this is the place.
Knowledgeable, friendly, fair. Nothing more to ask for.
