Very happy with my duffel I purchased a few months ago. So happy I’m gonna purchase there transit duffel as well. I see some reviews saying they are high priced. But go check out some other companies prices of gear with The same materials. I think there pricing is fair especially for the high quality gear they make. My favorite feature of the bag is the super heavy duty waterproof zipper on the bag I have. If your on the fence about this company. Don’t be. Another thing I really like about this company is the color options and material options they offer. By far the most options in xpac I’ve seen. Get a inside line equipment bag you will be happy with it. Unless your just not able to be satisfied then probably won’t no matter what you get. Lol.
Great products—really like their bike bags. Nice staff and it’s cool to see the workshop right inside.
Overall a decent quality backpack, marred by quite a few questionable design choices and a few unarguable design flaws. For example, the backpack is poorly balanced and is top heavy, meaning it will tip over if you try to position it upright on a table. This, coupled with the slick (no grip) interior, could mean your precious belongings spilling out.For some reason, there is zero padding on the bottom of the backpack. In other words, zero protection for electronics or anything delicate, in ANY compartment of the backpack. There are lots of miscellaneous straps that are overly long and flap around. I have even hit myself in the face with one of these straps, just by trying to put on the backpack.I’m not sure why the pack’s designers decided to make the top flap so huge, but it makes it difficult to access any compartment. If you have to grab something quickly, you pretty much have to take the backpack off entirely. For a backpack that is so large, there is barely any space inside it. Good luck fitting more than a laptop and maybe one other similarly sized item.Overall, the design is not ergonomic, nor is the backpack particularly comfortable to wear. It also does not win any style points. Really, the only thing it has going for it is the quality of the materials used, but even then I can already see a problem with the Velcro being the first point of failure, rendering the entire backpack useless by virtue of its design.EDIT:In response to the companys reply, their lifetime warranty is extremely misleading, as you still have to pay them to repair essential features. I believe I was quoted $50 for a zipper repair.
From Mallorca,Spain.I bought a Flaptop Mini forest canvas backpack,on-line, on thursday. On friday, the parcel was leaving California.Today midday, monday arrived at home.Comunication on-line with ILE,fast and efficient, unlike others shops....Backpack materials and sewing, perfects. For me,the best of both worlds:Cordura 1000D&organic waxed canvas. With reinforced balistic nylon on the bottom. The finnal price was very good, matter what I was worried. But not.More or less the same as here on EU,but with more variety on ILE website. Is a fair matter to share my experience with ILE with the community.100% satisfied.
Great quality backpacks made by friendly people. Support local!
High quality, delicate customer service. A bit pricy, but for the quality you always have to pay!Highly recommended!
The materials are amazing. Pretty much the perfect incarnation of a bag. Unfortunately, the price is to match. You can see the bags being sewn in the room they are sold in. Fantastic Berkeley-made product!
Great gear and they will customize it for you if you ask. Got additional internal pockets so I stay organized. They sized one for my iPad and another for my notebook. Thanks!
I have been using the DEFAULT XL bag since its delivery in July 0 9. I am very satisfied with this choice. I highly recommend INSIDE LINE EQIPEMENT High quality bag, very resistant and aesthetic. Competence, know-how, mastery define the ILE brand A professionalism which has all the merits of being recognized and reported.Nico.C Brussels Belgium
Its always cool to see a local brand that starts right here in the area. The vibe of the shop with the workshop in the back is such a cool idea. Love all the bags and accessories. A little pricey but worth the design and craft that goes into their products.
Ive had my backpack for five years now and I use it every day. Ive used it as a cooler packed with ice, I use it as my commuter bag for work, I used if for undergraduate and graduate school, Ive used it hiking in the rain, mountain climbing, traveling, on and on. Ive never done anything special to take care of it and it is still in perfect condition, no rips, tears or anything. Quality is an understatement. This thing is flawless.
I am not quite able to describe how happy these guys have made me.HIGHLY recommended for your next adventure gear kit, especially if you ask the right questions.
ILE makes some fantastic backpacks! The build quality and comfort are both exceptional, I can attest to that after putting my pack through the wringer in numerous cities, rain or shine. The companys customer service is also incomparable to any other luggage brand that Im familiar with, who almost exclusively say NO to any adjustments/custom features or charge incredible fees for small changes. Meanwhile ILE was willing to accommodate a request from me and I was very happy with the result.I think it is the shining example of what a Made in the USA company should be and I plan to be a repeat customer for years to come.
Bought a custom backpack a while back, still looks good and functions at full spec.
Very high quality bags, with high prices to match. If youre looking for something to last you a while while supporting a local business I highly recommend.
I got my wonderfully versatile ILE transit backpack one month ago and I use it all the time! It has the incredible ability to become MASSIVE when you want to stuff lots of things inside, but you can also velcro down the top flap to turn it into a really lightweight, portable bag. The waterproof liner is ideal for grocery shopping (I spilled some hummus in the bottom of my bag and was able to clean it up in a second with a wet paper towel) and the front pouch is perfect for my phone, wallet, and keys. Sturdy, high-quality materials so I know I’ll be able to use this bag for many, many years. And the guy who designs/makes the bags is super nice; plus its great to go into the shop and see him sewing together your bag right in front of you. The bags definitely come from a good place, and it shows!
Great Bags and accessories in a spacious and elegant showroom. The fact that you can view the craftsmanship right in the showroom shows that they arent boasting when they say made in California.
Quality backpacks, yes. They get a star for that. But that isnt my gripe with this place.I bought my backpack and after about 7 days, realized that the backpack was too small for my day to day use. I had used it very lightly, there was no visible damage or wear whatsoever. When i went to return it, or exchange for a bigger pack and pay the difference, the owner/manager told me rudely that We are not REI, we dont do returns. When I pushed him to show me where it could be distinguished that the backpack had been used, he responded that the silicon/plastic logo was dusty. When I asked him if I could get a discount he responded maybe 10%I would never have bought the backpack if I knew there was a no return policy. I find it pretty ridiculous that they dont even tell customers buying $200 backpacks that sort of key information. The management were rude, and seemed to have an inferiority complex that prevented them from doing returns or even telling customers about the possibility of no returns. Will definitely not be buying another product from here, since when can you not return a $200 backpack, or any other $200 item. Ridiculous.
I stumbled upon this place while on 4th street in Berkeley last week. I have a little bit of a backpack obsession. Always looking for the perfect backpack. Does it exist? Probably not. But I ended up picking up a Radius Mini in black waxed canvas and so far I’m loving it.I was actually really impressed with the customer service. Eric was super friendly the day I went in and I was probably there for a good 30 mins. I ended up leaving to do some research on my own. I had a couple of questions so I sent them an email and they responded in a couple of hours. I went back to the store a couple days later with everything I carry so that I could try out a bag before I bought it. Eric was there and totally let me run free. He even gave me suggestions based on what I said I was into. They didn’t have a phone holster in the black waxed canvas but they were able to make me one on the spot.Very impressed. If you’re looking for a locally made, American sourced bag, this is the place to go. It’s also great to support local business. Much easier walking into an actual store if you have an issue than trying to ship it back somewhere. I’m sure my perfect bag quest hasn’t ended. When I’m ready for another bag I’ll definitely be checking out ILE again.
Thoughtful design and fantastically durable materials + workmanship
