This is hands down the BEST CANDY shop. The chocolate is always amazing and so is the staff. This is a family owned business and they put their hearts into every candy that make and it shows. I have been buying candy from here for years and they made my wedding favors last weekend and they were perfect like all the things they make! Old Fashioned Candies is the best ❤️

I use to work at a chain candy store but this store is wayyy better! They had a great selection of chocolate and candies. I also bought some chocolate covered strawberries that were amazing! The chocolate was smooth and the strawberries were perfect( not tart). The woman behind the counter was so nice and helpful. I will definitely be back with friends and family

This is an INCREDIBLE place! First the staff is one of the friendliest places I have ever been. Every person there greets everyone with a smile and a willingness to help. They are extremely patient and very generous. The chocolate is all house made and is DELICIOUS! The other side of the store has the old fashioned candy. Some stuff I have not seen in years! There is something for everyone and sure to be a local favorite, its definitely mine.I also want to mention that I had the pleasure with speaking with one of the owners and they managed and run their store like it was built just for you. Almost to the point where I wanted to quit my job and work for them. I cant believe Ive lived here for so long and never been to old fashioned candies. I bought a ton of fun stocking stuffers here (chocolate covered twinkies, chocolate covered butter butters, and gorgeous Christmas gummies, to name a few). Everyone was so nice and welcoming, and the chocolate - wow! I would normally get little candies at a big box stores, but was looking to support local business during covid - I think its safe to say theres no going back to mass produced candies now. Theyre being very covid conscious - everyone is masked up and someone will come out to help you scoop bulk candies to keep everyone safe.
Always a family friendly environment. Great works of art with the candies. Many choices of them too. Tastes as great as they look. Will always be a fun experience going to the candy store. This place just makes it nostalgic and delicious.

Often I come here to pick up some chocolate covered strawberries and also dark chocolate treats. They do not have parking but there is street parking right in front and it is free. They offer their own chocolate as well as others. You can order ahead for special occasions or just pickup at any time like I do, some treats. The girl at the register was not too friendly but the lady that has been there for some time she is. I really like their chocolate and I will keep coming back.One time I brought some bananas and they covered them for me so feel free to ask if they can do it and they probably will.

Great candy store! What a gem in an unexpected place... I found candy here that I havent seen since I was a kid and the hand-made chocolates are outstanding! They have candy and gum that I have never seen anywhere else. Worth the drive for some great sweets. The store is really fun; decorated with old Chicago memorabilia and a great staff!
This place has the BEST chocolate covered strawberries! Although it is a bit on the pricey side, it is worth it! I make sure that I do a pre order when there is a special event coming up because the lines literally go out the door. I visit this place at least once a month. The staff is super friendly and are very welcoming. They remember my family and I every time we come in. I will definitely be a long time customer!

Chocolate covered Strawberries are the best, pricey but delicious. Its almost like going to the penny candy store when we were kids only the prices have skyrocketed. Still always a good bet for some nostalgic candy.
If you love candy as much as I do you must stop by. They are always making fresh chocolate covered strawberries and are very reasonably priced. You can always find something you will like here. My son has tried one of every chocolate dipped candy, but returns for the strawberries. He is a very picky eater, than only liked Godiva chocolate covered strawberries before. Please do yourself a favor and try this little store out!

Fairly friendly, excellent selection of old timey candies, delicious chocolates. It is a bit pricey though. But they do carry a lot of favorites from childhood. Also, very busy neighborhood, lots of traffic. You can find parking on side streets and behind business.

I went in to see what the hubbub was about for their 40th anniversaryGot the English Chocolate Toffee, 2lbs of mixed popcorn (recommended), The Chocolate graham cracker with marshmallow in the middle (excellent) and two chocolate covered pretzels (highly recommended).Although I gave away half of the popcorn and a pound of chocolate bridge mix as gifts, the people I gave them to raved about the freshness and richness of the flavors.This place is extremely busy so there is a long line so prepare to wait, but I got great service from the people there which made up for it.

Nice shop, good candy and prices but the selection was a bit lacking. I was really hoping to get nonpareils and chocolate stars which are both surprisingly hard to find but only found a single container of dark chocolate nonpareils.

I frequently visit this local gem to purchase those delightful confections from bygone eras that my Grandma is so fond of. Every time I stop in, I am greeted by friendly faces and delicious aromas. The selection is AMAZING and in one of those RARE instances where they dont have something you are looking for, they do their darndest to get it for you! I hope more locals continue to support this wonderful candy shop, because Berwyn would never be the same without it!
