After experiencing a very bad dealership in Montgomery. We landed at Academy due to a specific used car on their wed site. The price was very good, actually the best in the area. It was a hour drive from our location to this dealership and the sales mgr gave us an additional discount to make it worth the drive. I love the car buying experience (the game) and Academy was solid.

Purchase a car that had not been detailed. Got promised theyll buff out most of the scratches,. And they guarantee you have a half tank of gas at least before you pull out after purchasing a car. Well, I had barely a quarter of a tank. I was also low on brake fluid. Take it up there today to get it detailed, I mentioned the issue with the gas, I mention the scratches, etc etc. I sit there for almost 3 hours, nobody bothers to tell me they were actually done with the car. I go and look at the car, doesnt look they they even TRIED to buff anything out whatsoever and they did not top off any gas, fluids, etc whatsoever. But then again this is Bessemer were talking about. They got my money, who cares if they give service or not. Just like the person two spaces down from me said.My brother and I decide to call and get a resolution. Upon calling, the receptionist put us on hold and the call dropped. Twice. Then once I get..I guess the sales department on the phone the guy was cutting us off and interrupting while we were trying to describe the issue I was having. I go out to my car to get the paper work, come back in and towards the end of the call he asks if we have anything else. I said I had two questions. I ask the questions, calmly and politely, and I get snapped at saying I already told you three times. Excuse me buddy, I was outside for a couple minutes.I like the car itself, its running great, the salesman...seems to have been alright. But after spending 8+ hours buying the car (I can forgive that), and then having this crap happen, its making me question whether I ever want to deal with this place again. Seems like bait and switch to me.P.S. President Obama signed the Consumer Review Fairness Act of 2016, which essentially prohibits retaliation for negative reviews.
I showed up already knowing what car I wanted to purchase and I was able to test drive it immediately. My sales person did a great job answering all my questions and was direct with any of my concerns. She made me feel comfortable and confident with the purchase of my vehicle. The entire process was low stress and left with a smile.

My experience with Academy was so great it was almost surreal I had the perfect salesman Donald Steel. I had been having trouble finding a new car and Mr.Steel assured me I had come to the right place I gave him my information and in 3 days he called me with a deal he said I couldnt refuse. Mr.Steel delivered me a brand new 2016 Chrysler 200 to my job! Needless to say I was very satisfied and I recommend the this dealership & Donald Steel to anyone looking to purchase a new vehicle.
I did not shop there today, but I did stop by to look at inventory. Once upon a time I did stop there to shop for a used car, but I did not to go inside to speak with the financing people about a car that we were very interested in. I discussed the vehicle at length with the salesperson and we discussed the price that was on the website. My wife and I decided to talk about the vehicle over lunch, so we left the premises. As we discussed the vehicle over lunch, we looked at the website and the price had gone up $1,500. I was assured that this was accidental and completely random price increase. I would not encourage business with that type of organization.

Do not deal with these people!!! I cannot stress this enough. I would use Hendricks over in Hoover, AL. Its a great place with reasonable prices, unlike Academy were everything is $4000.00 dollars over market value. My recent experience with this dealership was great up until I saw how much money they over priced there used trucks (which means I just barely made it in the door). And dont get me started on the appraisal for my trade in. Lets just say the dollar figure changed in a 9 hr period by NEGATIVE $3,500.00. Beware of this place!

They have a sorry service dept. I went in for an oil change. Ended up staying there 5 hours. They completed a recall on my car but did not tell me. After an hour I inquired about why it was taking so long, they said it was next. Thirty minutes passed and I went back to ask whats taking so long. Finally they said they were completing a recall. That was unacceptable and a total inconvenience and I will be changing the service dealer for my vehicle.
I called Twice, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL.. The person who answered the phone was Wanda. She didnt ask me my reason for calling. I told her I needed the service department, she didnt say she was going to transfer my call or tell me who she would be transferring me to.. She immediately clicked over to transfer the call.. and No one answered!! I called back, and Wanda answered the phone again. She said she could barely hear me, I adjusted my mouth closer to my phone speaker, she says.. I can hear you now I then say, I just called and somehow the call dropped.. I proceeded to tell her how I was wanting to speak with the service department. Immediately she clicks over without any guidance or information. The phone rings and rings and rings with No Answer... You would think the phone would transfer back to the person who first answered.. Or at least send to a voice message system. NOPE. Instead someone picks up the phone and immediately hang it back up... SOOOOOO Disappointing and Frustrating. PLEASE SPARE YOURSELF YOUR TIME AND ANGER... GO TO ANY OTHER Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Ram auto center than this one!! Dont Even Call!!! Even if the next one is Across Town!! You being valued as A Customer who may have spent Thousands on a vehicle, is So important and worth way more than how they treat you there.

Academy Chrysler dodge Will never receive another dollar of mine. The service department was horrible, they lied about the time that it would take to fix my car. I talked to the service manager and was laughed at when I asked for a loaner car, because of the extended length of time they had my car. I found out a couple of my friends had tree same problem and the were given a loaner car immediately. I wish there was a no star rating but I will give them the lowest possible. Please dont be a victim to them.

Experience wasnt good,I took my sister with me to shop,weve already looked online to see what I wanted and was already approved with my credit union.when we arrived we were greeted nicely and was placed with a salesman, an older guy, first after receiving my info he start misinforming us of how credit works on how to rebuild credit that he assumed we didnt have,secondly he stated that he had to run my credit so I could get the highest rebate depending on how low my credit was,? Then he complained when my sister asked questions,stating Im saling her the car not you! Last,he couldnt explain to us why the sale price on paper didnt match up to the sticker price on the vehicle. He became rude when we asked more questions. When asked for my keys he threw them down on the desk,they were the wrong keys. When I finally received my keys I happily left. Confronted by management outside to see what was the problem, I told him the situation and he mad excuses for the older salesman.he stated he still wanted my business. No!,this was an easy sale and they blew it.
The Salesperson was nice, but the notice that was sent did not hold up to print on the paper. I stayed about 4 hours and nothing was accomplished. The notice said Bad Credit No Credit and does not matter how much you owe, but it did in my case. He said. He got me approved, but with options which I did not agree too. So my experience was terrible. Your company made it seem like it is easy and your credit was not an issue. They wanted me to put down $5, 000 and keep my car so I would have to make 2 car payments in the amount of around $1400 dollars which I thought was ludacris. I wont be back or recommend anyone to your company.

I got a flyer in the mail that said I won $5,000. I drove all the way to the dealership to claim my prize that was supposed to be legit. When I get to the dealership the guy says I didnt actually win anything. But for coming down to the dealership he would provide me with a $25 gift card. However there was another catch.He wanted me to sign a piece of paper that had my address and information and it also said that it would give them permission to obtain my credit. However after I refused to sign that piece of paper since I was not interested in purchasing from a company who deceives people to get them in their doors he then refused to give me the $25 gift card.I get people have to figure out ways to get customers and doors but doing it in this type of shady way says a lot about a company. If youre looking for a reputable Dodge dealership stay clear of this one.

Manager stated that they are in the business to make money and will continue to use the contractor sales teams and almost scam like sales... Of 49 down... But from what I Been told.. They add to the price and then ask you to pick a vehicle and payment... Then they extend the loan to 72 or 84 to get the payment for you... The supervisor of this sales team sold me a 2013 ram... Msrp 37850.... For 43200 est. Loan for 72 months... Even made me think I was getting a long horn... But I got a big horn... I am a disabled veteran With a tramic brain injury.. He knew this and used it against me... I explained to the manager it was the same people... She was very in telling me.. They are here to make money and will continue to use the sales team to make it... She didnt care not want to hear about that sales team.. Because she has 15 yrs experience in the car business... Wonder how many crooked sales team, She might have watched rip people off at..BEWARE.... THEY ARE THERE TO MAKE MONEY PERIOD... EVEN OFF OF YOU...
I will never go back nor will i tell anyone to go there. They sold me a car come to find two of the rims was bent then I took it to get the tires balanced and come to find out the tie rods are bad. When I kept telling them about the problems they kept denying that something was wrong and they didnt want to fix the problem. Never again

They said it cost this much because it takes so long thats not true this can be done in 30 to 45 minutes easymy brother took our 3500 dodge diesel to academy dodge on saturday for servicehad front and rear fuel filters changed. they wouldnt change just the front.was charged 380.00 for this service. i went here because i was given a free oil change when the truck was purchased. this was on Saturday and the truck had to go to north Carolina on Sunday had no time to see about getting it done elsewhere.the filters where $71.00 each. you can buy a 5mm baldwin filter for about $17.00.IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A FAIR PRICE DONT GO HERE.

I have been here multiple times. Usually for general matienece. The past three times I was here, I was unstatisfied. One time they forgot to top off all fluids, after telling them to, other time. This past time, I came in for an oil change and tire rotation. After licking my car up, I went on the interstate. I went 35mph and it shook uncontrollably. Had to pull over on the side of the interstate and cripple my way back to the shop. TAKE YOUR CAR SOMEWHERE ELSE! After spending lots of dollars and being here multiple times, they have officially lost my buisnss!

He had personality of a brick wall, made several comments about how difficult it would be,,,and how long it would take,,,,, all while playing with his phone and looking at FACEBOOK. I did not have a pleasant experience at Academy Chrysler Service. I brought my Town and Country in on a Wednesday morning (9am) to have the oil changed and tires rotated. I also asked to have a diagnostic performed on the CD/DVD player since it was not working properly. I was told that I would receive a call around 12 pm that day with information about my vehicle. I did not receive a call so I called at 4pm to ask about the status of my vehicle and was told that it had not been looked at yet and to call back in the morning. Well I called the next day, Thursday, at 12 pm and was told that my car was still waiting to be diagnosed and that I should call back later. I called again at 4:45pm and was told that my car was still waiting. At that point I said that I would come pick it up and get it looked at somewhere else because I had to be out of town, I was told that someone would pull it up to the front so that I could pick it up. I guess they didnt want to lose out on the $110 diagnostic fee that they charge so someone called me back at 5pm and said that they were looking at it now and should have an answer for me by 8 am on Friday morning, so I said ok (big mistake).Friday morning I call and was told that they were still working it up. I received a called at 10:30 am saying that I had a stripped drainage plug that has caused me to need a new oilpan and that would cost me $710 (310 in parts and $400 in labor). I said I wanted to get that looked at somewhere else (there is no way Im getting a repair like that done at the dealership- $180/hour for labor vs 85 at my local mechanic). I asked about he CD/DVD player and was told that they had not diagnosed that yet and needed more time but I would have to pay an additional $110 diagnostic fee for that. I said no and told them I would be picking my vehicle up. I get there at 3:30pm on Friday and they still dont have my vehicle pulled up so I wait. I check out and there is an additional $21 environmental fee on my bill that wasnt in my estimate so I asked what does it cover and the lady at the check desk tells me it covers them flushing my transmission fluid? I didnt even question it further because I was already upset and didnt want to be rude to the check out lady. I go outside to wait for my car which they never pulled up to the front like they did for everyone else. They parked it in the lot and didnt even tell me it was out there so I waited for 25 minutes like an idiot with my car sitting in the lot.So, Academy had my car for 3 days, charged me $200 dollars, wanted to charge me an additional $700 to fix an oilpan, and never told me what was wrong with my CD/DVD player. And to top it all off, I get in my car and the dang gear shift cover is loose now and pops off!!!Will not ever return there or recommend it.

The service department is horrendous. I dealt with the service manager, Terry Harrison, after my car refused to start due to their failure to repair a recalled alternator. He had my car towed to dealership and told me it would be done in 1 hour - they would prioritize it. This was because I had to previously cancel 3 appointments because they failed to have the replacement part. I called at lunch and Mr. Harrison told me they were going to lunch and it would be done right after lunch. When I showed up at 5:30, he told me that I had not been called and they would get to it tomorrow. I told him no, I was waiting. So, I am here typing this review while I wait. They were to call me after my last failed visit in May to tell me they had the part and they didnt. So 2 months later, it failed and had to be towed in. WELL.....he just came to get me. Its done. And, wow, look at how nasty they left my car. Oil all over the hood. I guess thats my punishment for insisting on the saggy recall, huh. Terrible!

We spent $35-40k on two vehicles with this dealership. That may be the last penny, given the situation, for my family. Another family member was thinking about buying ANOTHER Avenger, but I bet that idea will go away after this...I rarely get involved in situations for my brother, but Academys service staff treated him like crap. At sale, it was promised in front of him and two other people, to buff out the scratches on the vehicle, detail it, and to top off the fuel with at least half tank when it leaves the lot.Fast-forward to today, he goes to have them make good on that offer. He waits 3 hours, they didnt do a very thorough detail, as there was still glitter all in the seats, old candy still in the center console, candy wrapper and Ross clothing tags in the trunk that said cute. The scratches were not buffed out. Then, when it was ready, they never came to get my brother to advise it was ready.THEN I decide, lets get to the bottom of it. I call, and the receptionist transfers to a dead-line/dialtone twice, one of which while we were still explaining who we want to speak with. The last transfer was to service desk, not a manager as we requested, who has no concept of what good customer service is.I know what good customer service is, and serve Fortune 50 and Fortune 100 companies around the globe, and have done that for over 10 years. To interrupt someone seven times on the call, and then attempt to discredit the customers concern that theyre being treated like crap is not good service. It exacerbates it with the self-serving youre the problem attitude once they have your money. This guy also said that it takes 3-4 hours to buff out scratches, so that tells us something was not done, along with the statement he made that hell have his paint guy come on Friday.The service guy says call on Monday, though he should take the initiative to schedule that. My brother has to go and waste another 4 hours next Friday, and I WILL be with him.My feeling is for wasting my brothers 3 hours, they should do something above and beyond for him, for the trouble and stress they caused.The service guy committed to solving the three issues we originally have, but know that I will be speaking with a member of management sooner or later about his interaction with us.In fact, you would think a 3.8 rating on Google means its a good dealership, yet their reviews dont look like the standard bell curve. Usually you have a few very happy, a few unhappy, and in the middle are just ok with a 3.8. In this case, they have a large 1-star bar.*I would hate to think what their Net Promoter score would be.*(Promoters 5 star - Detractors 1/2 star index)The behavior will not go un-noticed, whether Academy management addresses it, or not.P.S. Purchased a Dodge Avenger the transmission went out in it on the 2nd day of owning it. Was told that there was nothing they could do and I would need a warranty to have it fixed or pay out of pocket. Thank goodness we purchased a wrap warranty. They havehad the car since February 1st and it is now May 1st. They called to say that it was ready for pick up. Im at the dealer to pick it up and they cant find the keys nor do they have paperwork showing what was done to the car or that it is available for pickup up. This dealership has declined in service and integrity since it became Academy Dodge. If you are looking to purchase a vehicle I wouldnt recommend you shop here. To save yourself time and stress I strongly recommend you choose another dealership.

I called the service department to get information on getting a 2015 Ram towed for warranty work after it went into limp mode. I greeted the employee and asked how he was doing. There was approximately 30 seconds of silence and then he asked what I needed with an obvious put out tone. I told the emoeyee I was calling to get information about getting my nearly new truck towed because it quit running, and asked if he was ok because it sounded like I had inconvinced him. He replied with he was in the middle of typing when I called and placed me on hold. After approximately five minutes on hold I disconected the call and called back, asking to speak with the manager. I was sent to a voicemail, left a message discribing what had happened, and left my name and phone number. To date I have yet to recive a return call. Please do not burden this dealership with your business.

Horrible. I told them what we were looking for and tried to sell us something different. On top of that they lied straight to our face saying they dont shotgun credit and despite what we told them that we didnt want them to do that and use one or two banks to submit to ...they did 10!!!! TEN different lenders just from what we can see on our report and shot down our credit bad! Will never buy from them and glad we never did!!

Service department is no good. My vehicle is still under warranty but they refuse to repair a problem that is clearly a warranty issue. While my vehicle was in service, I test drove a new Renegade to buy for the wife. After service said my vehicle would not be covered under warranty, I bought the Renegade from another dealer. Stay away from here!
First off, I received terrible service. The salesman was very dishonest and had an unfriendly attitude. If I could rate a negative star rating I would. I have never received worse service from any dealership in my entire life. I DO NOT recommend visiting this dealership AND if you do, prepare to be lied to, treated like an idiot, and pushed into a vehicle You do not want! My first mistake was even considering buying a vehicle from these crooks and liars. I went to dealership after work one night, (late I may add, around midnightish) and looked over the lot for a particular truck they advertised online. I could not find the vehicle. I revisited the website and there was a live salesman answering questions on the Web page. I asked about the truck and he stated the truck was still available and he would have a salesman call me first thing in the morning. As requested a salesman called me (Brandon), and asked me what vehicle I was interested in. I gave him THE STOCK NUMBER. He blatantly told me the truck was still available and he will pull it around when I get to the lot. I said well Im sure that I want the truck. Lets go ahead and fill out the credit application over the phone due to me having a short amount of time before having to be back at work at 4 that afternoon. He said no, he would rather me see the truck first. Again.. I CALLED BRANDON for the SECOND TIME. I told him I would be there in a few minutes to have it pulled around front for me. He said yet again, I will when you get here. I told him then, do you even have the truck there or is it sold? Brandon said yes sir, its still here I checked myself. I finally arrive at the lot and first I am bombarded by 3 salesman. I ignore them and speak to the receptionist to call for Brandon. Brandon comes in and I tell him to go get the truck. We wait for 15 minutes before he comes back! He says have a seat Mr. Boggs. I knew right then! Sorry sucker did not have the truck. He said I have terrible news, we sold the truck. I said today? He said yes. I flat out called him a Liar! I told him so walked the lot personally just last night. Next, I was furious. There was NOTHING on their lot that I was particularly interested in. He said I can do whatever it takes to earn your business. I told him what we were looking for in a vehicle, which is leather, large vehicle with plenty of passenger space and less than 100k miles. He grabs the keys to 2 Chevrolet Tahoes. First I want to say I feel very bad for the family that decides to buy either of the Tahoes especially the Tahoe Hybrid. He Crunk the Tahoe Hybrid and the engine is knocking and the batteries were whining. I said dont you guys overlook these vehicles before they make it to the lot? Brandon said Im not sure, but if I knew this vehicle sounded like that I wouldnt have showed it to you. To make the rest of my terrible experience a long story short, I drove 3 vehicles, NONE of which were what were looking for. Every vehicle on their used lot comes from auction or trade in. Their mechanics do not look them over and as stated by Brandon, ALL used vehicles are Sold AS-IS. I will never go back to this dealership and I DO NOT recommend anyone else to visit either. If by chance you do visit them, please do not speak to Brandon, the black salesman with long dreads. He is a liar and uses lying sales tactics to sell vehicles with NO regards to the customer. I personally saw what kind of sales relationship Brandon has with people. He cares nothing for anybody nor himself to be working for such a filthy, dishonest, mismanaged, sleazy, deceiving dealership Such as Academy Dodge. I do not wish anyone to have to endure such a bad dealership experience from them. Its dealerships like these that make car shopping experience turn into nightmares. Please spare yourself the time and the next time you see Academy and think to stop in to look at a new or used car, remember my review and keep driving.

Very deceptive and unprofessional, tried to charge me 3k more than price they had listed on their site, went back and forth trying to get them to sell me car for correct price, took 3 days to get everything finalized and I had to call the bank to get the loan approved something they should have did, car was not clean when they sold it to me never again will I come back to this dealership, would not recommend coming here for anything
