My favorite place. Nothing like a hand held copy of a book! Even better when youre not paying 25$ for one book! Most books are anywhere from 5$ to 15 depending on newness/ supply demand I assume. Usually if they dont have it at the location you can request them check the database and they can order if from another location to either be sent directly to you or the store for you to pick up when it arrives!

Easy to get caught up and lose track of time here. Great place to waste time and browse. Sure to find a book or puzzle youd like.

Great books at great prices. Many books are either brand new or look new. Staff are very nice and helpful. I was in there the other day and I accidentally pooped myself. It sloshed down my pants and covered the floor. One of the staff members was really nice and didnt judge me when he cleaned it up.

Always enjoy coming here to browse their selections. They have an efficient tracking system so if youre looking for a specific title, they can tell you if they have it here, or at any of their other stores.On the other hand you can just browse also. Despite the title, not all books are quite as inexpensive... but thats OK too.

Its good for repurposing books when you have too many of them! However they give you pitons for your hard bound books! I took a medical reference book that cost $50, a Webster complete dictionary that cost $70 and a few.small hard bound books! All in excellent condition I received $1.42!!!!!!! Better to donate to your public library for their book sales. That will benefit your community!

I sold and bought some books and DVDS a few times. Its a good place to find bargains but selling is not that great. I sold entire set of Harry Potter books for $14. I think moving forward donating books to goodwill is a better option and get some tax break. I dont plan to sell anything there anymore but will stop by to buy books.

Check out cashier was not the friendliest when I asked to see her body art that was clearly visible to the customers. It just seemed unusual somebody would borderline freak out on their own body art. Anyway, I did find some books.

This location has always been a wonderful place to find old or rare books that you would be hard-pressed to find elsewhere (and a surprising number of old vinyl records). The prices tend to be very fair on books but a bit high on media. The sectional organization of the books is a bit confusing, but the staff has always helped me find anything that I am looking for, and offered to order anything that they dont have in-store. Note that I have never sold books to this store, so this rating is purely from a buying consumers perspective.

Great weekend stop to grab some books for the kids. Weve never had a quality issue with marks or torn pages like some other used book sources. The staff is super friendly. One cashier gave my 3 year old a tiny book he had in his pocket that she treasures to this day.

Friendly staff at this location. They practice safe social distancing with arrows and floor markers. They offer CDs in the front as well as records in the middle of the store. They have video game memorabilia as well as some old copies of retro games.

Good selection of books at decent prices. Disappointed in their buying, however. Two boxes of hardback books, all in good condition, they paid $6.27.....i would have taken them back to the car and donated them to salvation army, but I didnt want to carry them again.

Everything was sideways so you cant see the front of the books. You have to turn your head to read them.

The friendly staff were helpful and polite. Their selection is always nice and varied, and I always find something interesting there. Great value for what they have, and the books I bought were in great condition. They also have a lovely selection of music in vinyl and CDs.Going there for cheap media is a good choice. The only thing I could possible fault them for was their one-way lanes to encourage social distancing being a bit awkward for the shelving layout. Even with that in mind, the store is easy to navigate and clearly labeled.

Very strict policies for social distancing that dont infringe on you too harshly. Theres tons of books, so anyone who likes any genre will likely find something of interest there. My boyfriend specifically loved the music aisle.

I love HPB! They have a great selection of books and other media. If you like harder to find older books HPB might be the place to go. I found some older RPG books that fit well in my collection.

Really dont like the Sell your item policy. Today I took in 2 very nice CD box sets, a graphing calculator and several movies and random other items. I shopped around. They called me up and gave me a quote that was so low. I said Ill take back my box sets and sell them online. Then he said 90% of the quote value was because of them I was so shocked. What was the other ten percent, the calculator.? Like are they just taking all the other items and not even giving me anything? They should give back items of negligible value and say they really dont want them. I could sell the DVD cases on ebay and make more.. This was so disappointing. They need to return things if they dont want to pay. BE HONEST!

I have bought and sold many books here over the years. I need to drop off another box to sell soon!

When I went to the store to sell some of my items that included quite a bit of DVDs, CDS, video games and some Wii accessories. The wait was a hour long and we had to wait at the store. We also in the hour of looking in the store found most of our items that we were selling in the store and saw what they were selling them for. When they called our names they said “we can give you $1!!!” That we took it in disbelief but then instantly realized that the offer was a slap in the face. So we went back to the counter to get our stuff back and not except the offer. When we went back we could tell that they were laughing about our reactions to the $1!! I guess you could consider it a slap in the face. I’m not sure How they came to the conclusion of a dollar

The monetary value placed on my books, many hardback, many worth a great deal, was sinfully small, $14 for upwards of 50 books. I would not recommend this to others. Seems a bit of a racket. I wish I could have donated to my local library but they are not taking due to Covid.

Great staff, always something to find here. They have helped tremendously with a few missing books in a lot of my series and even got me interested in new authors.

Love this place! Such a unique selection of notebooks and cards. The prices on books is super and also the selection. The vibe of this bookstore is great and everyone is really nice and helpful, specifically today! I have been looking for books by a specific artist and the sales girl/cashier helped me tremendously and found what I was looking for, for a great price at another half price store. She was knowledgeable & was also interested in what I was looking for and took the time to help me! (You don’t get that everywhere) I wish I had her name so I could recognize her helpfulness. Overall this place is great & I will always visit Half Price Books before I go to other (more expensive) bookstores. So glad this opened near me! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I will NEVER take anything to this store again. They offer you next to nothing for items you want to sell. Save your gas money and go to a flea market or sell on Facebook marketplace.

Huge selection and great prices. And lots of bargains on the discount shelves in the rear of the store. Easy to spend hours here shopping.

Always great to browse the stacks. The clearance section actually had a book that is currently on the best sellers list. Its a quiet store, but the background music helps it be not too quiet. This place also has DVDs, albums, magazines, and some odd and ends. The childrens dept is nice as well.

Love half price books - wish this was a bigger chain. Pretty good selection. Prices better than they were a few years ago. Can turn stuff in for money, but not a lot. Not a ton of kids books. Books, records, DVDs, and games are the main items but Im sure theres a few others as well. A little crowded. Always busy.

I tend to review based on the experience as a customer, not necessarily the products. I will use my last visit as an example. I was there late on a Saturday and was one of probably two customers in the store. As I walked in, there were four employees near the entrance. Not one of them acknowledged me as I walked in. By no means would I expect anything big, but even a hello or good evening would have been something given there wasnt much else going on. I spent about 15 minutes browsing and a few employees walked past. Then on my way out, just to try a theory - I made eye contact to see if I would get any kind of thanks for stopping by. But got nothing.To wrap this up, Half Price Books is not a bad store. Prices seem good. But in a day and age when there are a lot of choices, the experience for a customer should matter. If you are looking for that experience here, you wont find it.

While there are many great book stores, comic book stores, movie/music/video game stores in the Pittsburgh area - this is my favorite chain store for all of those items. I mostly shop for video games, comic books, vinyl records, and old VHS tapes - half price books has a great selection. The pricing is fair and the staff is extremely helpful.

I love going in and coming out with an armfull of Vinyl records, comic books trinkets, etc. Really fuels my inner geek. You can find so many awesome things here you wont find any where else. I highly recommend a visit.

I find it is not worth anything to trade in your books. My mother brought 9 books that was new that she paid a good bit for and they only gave her $ 4.00. I also turned in books and recieved even less

Great place to buy books, horrible place to sell them. Even books with a high sticker value, or antique value, are treated like they are trash when you try to turn them in for anything other than store credit. Surprised they are still in business, the internet is a much easier place to shop. They do offer refreshments in store, which is nice. They also allow hands on browsing.
