10/29/2021I went here today for a quality long board based on a rave review I saw online yesterday. Dont know if it was Yelp or Google or somewhere else...Doesnt matter, they were spot on! The owner, Kaare (pronounced like carry) treated me like family, like it was my actual brother helping me to choose board, trucks, LED wheels, and even the adjusting tool. So many choices, and this skateboard is AWESOME!THANK YOU KAARE!

Bethesda Boards is great and I highly recommend them. I went in this weekend looking for a new deck for my electric skateboard. They took the time to guide me into something that worked well for me. They even moved the motor and battery over to the new board. And the best part is they did it all with a smile... Two thumbs up!

I got my board gripped here and it was a custom job perfect for downhill done by the owner. same price as online but with all the service so its worth stepping in and supporting a local business. keep real board shops alive

Eric and Kaare are super nice and helpful! Kaare is extremely knowledgeable and just a really chill dude 😎. Got my deck modified here and they were even willing to put my trucks on after adjusting the wheelbase.

Visited this places several times and the customer service is excellent . The staff are knowledgeable. Brought my sons longboard fixed due to storage(5years) by a staff member and I was very satisfied by their detailed service. My sons longboard performed better than when it used to be. Most amazing skate shop I have ever been to! Great atmosphere! 🤘

I was shopping for a skateboard for my son. Called the day before, spoke with Ben. Super helpful guy!! Explained what I was looking for, he made some suggestions and invited me in to look around. I drove 45 mins to this shop the next day, two men one older one younger were at the counter. Neither of them addressed me. The older guy was on the phone so I get that, the younger guy was repairing a set of skates, did not and had no intention engaging with me. I approached him and told him that I wanted to build a skateboard board for my son, he suggested buying a completed board because it was cheaper. I told him that he wanted to build his own. He then informed that it would cost at least $150. I said that was fine and that he wanted to build his own skateboard. The younger was uninterested in helping me on any level. The older guy encouraged him to stop what he was doing and assist me. Even then, he showed no interest in assisting me. Too bad this very exciting event for son was overshadowed poor customer service.

Dudes here are super chill and knowledgeable. Got me set up with a new complete longboard for my fiance and helped me pick out parts for a new custom for myself. Gave me a bunch of the small stuff for free and were super friendly!

I had a great experience there today buying a much needed new board and grip tape, the owner was very helpful in helping me pick out the exact board set up I would need for my size body and style of skating.They have a really good selection of all kinds if skateboards and even long boards and scooters.They are very accommodating and you should check them out.

I would 100% recommend this skate shop. The owner is very helpful and will answer any questions you have. I came in with a broken tail and he helped me temporarily fix it with wood glue so I could keep skating for the rest of the day.

Amazing skate shop, great selection and incredibly helpful people. I was a little intimidated to come in because I don’t have any experience with skating, but the owner was so nice and walked me through everything, even let me ride a board down the street and back to try it out. Just got my awesome wide wheel pro scooter by mercane at the shop. Amazing because these things arent available anywhere, I couldnt believe they had it. The guys took the time to assemble it for me and walked me through all the features. Couldnt be happier! Bethesda boards is the best!!!

This place is really neat. Since they sell essential products such as mobility scooters, they are able to stay open through the Covid pandemic and brought many skaters and their parents Joy. they have lots of rare collectors editions as well as the tried-and-true current-day setups that you need to shred like the pros.

These guys are amazing. They fixed a very old vintage pair of Warrior roller derby skates-- even crafting a missing part on the fly. I will be coming back for all my board and skating needs. This is a wonderful local business with staff who know what theyre doing!

We have moved away from Bethesda to Asia but this is our go-to place every time we are in town. Owner Kaare is wonderful. A big heart and full of passion who will stop what he’s doing to guide and advise you. A great selection of old school decks. Easy street parking outside and not that far of a walk from the Metro. There are also ramps inside the shop. Highly recommended.

Stopped in to browse a few times and bought a helmet here. Had a good experience. Carey is a cool owner and gave me some good tips as a new rider. He even encouraged me not to buy more than I need even though it meant spending less at his store

Brought my son here for his 10th birthday. Great service, low pressure, and knowledgeable for a parent who isnt a skater. Left with my sons dream board and a loaner for me to skate with him this weekend -- purchase process was a blast for both father & son while talking music, life, tropical fish, and fun with the owner.

Unfriendly staff, didn’t ask if I needed any help and just stood there watching me from about 2 feet away while I looked at the board was hoping for a little advice but got nothing but a cold stair. Won’t go back.

This is by far the best skate shop that I have ever been to. The customer service is excellent. They are very thoughtful and kind. We spent a lot of time talking to them and learned a lot more about longboards!They gave us great deals and we were able to trade in a lot of equipment. They set us up with the perfect longboard. Most excellent service and easy to find. bought a holiday gift for 16y.o. was immediately helped. showed him specs, and they helped find either exact or equivalent items, and helped me save some money. Extremely friendly and helpful. Will buy from this team again. In-n-out in 20 minutes with everything to self assemble.

I have been going to Bethesda boards since i first started skating. The staff is really nice and helpful and the store is amazing! Everything is at a great price but also the best quality. Kaare is one of the nicest people I know and has not only sold me every board I have ever gotten but taught me so much about skateboarding.

Carey(sp?) the owner was super nice, I visited a few times over last few weeks to talk a bit and get informed before making a purchase. Opted for a super sweet Rayne 42 Demonseed DD Longboard. Built up just right for cruising around the neighborhood and eventually the town as I get settled back in, 1st new board since probably 87 or so. Modern longboards ride soooo good. Super nice shop, good deal on this thing. The 69MM wheels are sweeet! Ill be back for a more...trick oriented board Im sure. :)

My friend had bought a longboard a while back and told me he went here, even though he lives way out in the Purcellville area. I figured there must be a reason, so I gave it a shot too.Visited the shop yesterday. I was warmly greeted immediately. I have never owned a longboard so I had questions. All of these were answered quickly and easily in a friendly manner. It did not take long to decide which board I wanted. There was no pressure for upsells, gimmicks, or even to buy. The guy who checked me out asked if I wanted any adjustments to the wheels and trucks of my board. I said it was fine and I could sort it out at home, but he decided to do some anyway as he thought they seemed too tight. That was very nice; he certainly has more experience than myself, so not leaving it up to me was a great call.If you are planning to buy a longboard, a regular board, or any other related product, I highly recommend this shop. It is a great local business to support!

Extremely helpful. The customer service and knowledge in this place is top notch. Being a dad that knows nothing about skating, they were able to get my 3 and 6 yo set up with boards and pads. The kids loved it and we were out skating that afternoon.

Super nice guy! The owner gave me a ton of advice on my board, showed me tips helping me set up my grip tape. I did a not so good job at home, and he helped me clean it up. He gave me some free stickers and a free skate tool. 10/10 recommend, will definitely be coming back here for any more skating needs. If you are new to the skating scene, definitely come here instead of going to a big chain store... the owner definitely knows what he is talking about.

I found My skateboard in my attic after 10 years of not using it, went to the store and was greeted by the awesome owner who helped me get what I needed for the board. He even told me step by step how to put things back together right at the shop. Many decks, wheels, bushings, t shirts and other things available at a very reasonable price. there’s also a cool small ramp inside the store. Awesome environment.

They are very helpful! I bought my son his first skateboard here and I really appreciated that they didn’t try to sell me a more expensive board and recommended a beginner skateboard to use while he figured out if he really likes skating. They also have helped with maintenance at no charge - even during a blackout.

I bought a long board for my boyfriend and the board broke on the frist ride. This was a 200$+ board. Im very disappointed. This si after he sold me an eletric scooter that stoped working after the first ride. Extreamly disappointed it the quality especially for how much paied for it.Edit. You see I cant bring them back nor would I because I would not go back to your shop. Im all the way in Texas so I dont know how you can make it right. But while were at it also add that you sold me a scooter that has no brand on it and you couldnt tell me the brand of it (WHICH IS HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL) so I have no idea how it works and I also cant find it online.. I asked you twice about it I dont know why you couldnt have asked your suppliers. So Im sorry youre just getting a bad review youre perfectly nice person but the quality of your products are not good in my opinion

Besides the fact that Bethesda Boards has awesome customer service, always willing to help my kids with some aspect of their boards whenever we stop by, they were lifesavers building a grind box and quarter pipe for us! I ordered them from OC Ramps and couldn’t assemble them at all. Kaare was totally willing to do it and deliver them back to our house. Great quality assembly and great service! Thank you for giving us something fun to use at home during the quarantine!!

I’m a new skater and my board felt wobbly. Came in thinking i needed new trucks but instead i need to replace a part of the truck (i forgot what they were called). Saved myself $20+ for new trucks. Met Kerry who’s a nice and straightforward guy

I knew I was coming to DC and I always try to visit a local shop and purchase a deck on all my trips. After researching local shops online I decided on Bethesda. Glad I did, super cool owner and a great selection. Not only did I buy one, I bought five more because it really seemed like the owner supports his local scene. A nice mini ramp in the store that he was cool with local kids coming into skate . We need more skate shop owners like this. Between the selection of decks and the true skater vibe of the place I have to say it’s one of my favorites. Keep in mind I have been skating since the 80’s and like I said, I buy a deck on almost every trip I take . Support your local skate shop !!!!

Ask them for a repair quote and instead they suggested I try a cheap home remedy to see if that worked first - before spending a large dollar to replace the part. It worked! Saved me money and time when I was just ready to have them cost out and replace the part. Much appreciated - ill be back for future business!

The staff is always friendly and helpful. The owner and staff are skaters themselves and know their products. They do not try to up-sell you, but openly explain the difference in products. If you are buying a board, I would highly recommend this shop.

I made the decision to go to a local skateshop to get my board, hands down the best decision I have made in a while. The service was impeccable and I was helped the entire way through. I came in with a buddy who wasnt planning on buying anything but the experience we both had in the shop changed his mind and we both walked away grinning with our new boards.The character and passion that owner Kaare has for what he does is unrivaled in any business I have ever seen. The staff being incredibly kind and helpful made the whole process a breeze and creates a welcoming atmosphere. The time had flown by in the shop before I had known and we will definitely find ourselves coming back. I am glad I made the decision to come here, there are not enough people like the folks here in this world
