Very helpful girls. Google maps took me to Virginia College parking lot. The girls guided me all the way there by phone. When we got there they were ready to size both my daughters ballet shoes and and have us out in 30 minutes. They have very cute dance bags my little girls are wanting. I was happy with the service and the look of the store. Thanks

Had nice dance items but did not listen to me. I asked for a certain type of shoe to try on and she came out with a completely different one.

Bought everything needed for daughters first dance lessons, had a great package deal for ballet and tap. Treated my daughter like a little star. Didnt feel pressured to buy anything or rushed to leave even though we were still looking right at closing. Erica (I sure hope I got your name correct) was amazing, my daughter tried on several pairs of shoes and she was determined to find her the perfect fit!!! As former dancers the staff is knowledgeable about how things should fit and look and what you truly need. As long as my daughter is in dance this will be the only place I shop.

Very happy, when we walked in they said, Hi and asked what we were looking for today. They helped find shoes and clothes for my daughter. The two working both worked as dance teachers, and they also have note books full of different dance studio around the area. I cant say how helpful they were with us. I will not go to another place.

Good store, I needed pointe shoes, they didnt have the exact ones I wanted, but I did leave with a pair. The pointe shoes broke after 3 hours of wear, but they were kind enough to exchange them.

They have lots of options and they know a lot about dance and helped me find what I needed.

Ive visited this store many times over the years. They are consistently friendly and they keep an excellent inventory of dance essentials! Having dancers written there makes the experience even better!

Changing my rating from * to ****.-----------------------------------ORIGINAL: Be careful what you buy here. On 8/8/18, I bought several items from Applause, including a new pair of ballet shoes for my daughter. Ive bought things from them before, so I was not a new customer. My daughter started dance on 8/9/18 and goes every Thursday for a ballet/tap/jazz combo class and shes only missed 1 class. So shes worn them 9 times in total for 30 minutes on each day... that makes 4 1/2 hours total in these ballet shoes. Well, the strap broke last Thursday and when I called to see if they would be willing to repair them, 2 associates told me that they could, but they would charge me around $5 to sew them back up. I told them they had only been worn a hand full of times (4.5 hours at the most) and I would hope they would stand behind their product and repair them for me free of charge. They declined and I told them I would take my future business elsewhere. The staff were nice, but they will not take care of you and they will not stand behind their products and repair a defective product. Im not about to drive all the way to Homewood to spend $5 extra on a pair of ballet shoes that should have stayed together to begin with.

Applause Dancewear always has friendly and attentive customer service. Never have I had a bad experience here. You can tell Katie, the owner, instills great value in her staff. Everyone was very helpful and the vast variety of leotards, hot shorts, 2 pieces, etc. was great.

The service was excellent and I was able to locate all of the items I was going to purchase.

My experience here was not that great. I called before i went to make sure they had what I was looking for and they did so I drove the 45 minutes it took me to get there. I needed a nude bodysuit for my 14 year old 8th grade choir girl. I asked for an adult medium and the person at the counter went and got one for me. She had it out of the package and showed it to me. Right color, I know leotards stretch so I thinking okay. Looks right. I also got some black shorts to go with. The last thing the person helping me says after Ive paid her is this.... if the strap across the back is too small come back we have others in the back. Not good. I am already running behind so I leave and rush to the school to give this to our girl. Does not fit!! I look at the packaging and its medium size is what a small normally is. I dont buy this stuff often so I relied on this sales person. Huge mistake. Never again. By the way the bodysuit alone was almost $40.00. I bought one off Amazon for $15.00 an adult medium and it fits my girl perfect.

I went with my 4 year old daughter to Applause in Homewood to get her some pink slippers for dance. The girl who helped us was very patient in helping her try on shoes and made my daughter feel special and excited for starting her first dance class. It was a very positive experience and I will be back when its time to purchase more items!

This was our 2nd trip this season and they are so helpful. Took all the time we needed fot the fitting. Great selection and were cheaper than Academy.

They know their stuff for sure. Very amiable service with friendly staff. Prices are not the cheapest but they seem to have everything you need.

Add:Trying it on and then buy it online is for the new customers or new dancers. Usually for the old dancers, when their original shoes get smaller, if they want to get it online. they just need to get 1 bigger size. No need to drive all the way to homewood to try it on and for the purpose of buying online.I did ask the sale girl if there is a new pair of the shoes. but she said there is only one pair of that size. I would have bought the shoes except the only pair you had was a pair used for people to try on. I do not want a pair that everyone has tried on, I wanted a new one in the box.I have bought many dance clothes within last several years in applause dancewear. It was the first time I was asked to pay for 10 dollars Try on charge of shoes because I tried two pairs of Jazz shoes without buying them. I refused this unreasonable charge. I wonder its the sales girls idea or its the stores policy. Even if the store want to charge 10dollars Try-on fee, Its better to put it on the sign in the store that everybody can see it before they ask to try the store than you finish trying then they ask10dollars for trying two pairs of shoes. If you charge 10dollars fee. So how about the return policy? How much you should charge for returning a pair of shoes? Because usually the buyer will definitely have to try it on and then decide to return.The sales girls in 2018 were nice and patient. I have no idea what happened to Applause dancewear recently.
