Very busy for breakfast the day I went there. They give u nice portions of food and the price is reasonable
Visited on 8/4/21 a little after 2 pm. The doors were locked. Didnt realize at the time that they closed at 2. A sweet lady unlocked the doors and came outside as I was walking back to my car. Told her it was my first time there and didnt realize they closed so soon. She allowed me inside where I was able to get two dinner plates and dessert. The employees were very sweet and patient. I ordered beef tips and rice with macaroni and collard greens. I also ordered beef short ribs with the same sides. The food was seasoned and on point. The meats were so tender and the portion sizes were very generous. It was some of the best soul food I had in a while from a restaurant. The chocolate cake was moist and delicious too. Will definitely be going back soon.
Everything Ive had here is good. I only go for breakfast, but you can still get fried chicken wings or a pork chop with your grits...GRITS! GRITS! GRITS. This is usually all I get when I go. Most restaurants cant cook grits properly. But theirs are perfect.

Best breakfast in the area. Be prepared for a long wait in the drive thru but it is worth it. My fav is the chicken & waffle. The omelets are really good too. Employees are very friendly and always remember their customers.
I havent eaten from this place yet but they have a menu on GrubHub that has exactly what Im looking for. Im just waiting for them to open on the app, I check everyday! Please try to open through GrubHub soon. No one has breakfast anywhere that Im craving 😋!
Anything worth having is worth waiting for but you gone wait! Too long if you ask me at the East of the Mississippi Diner. It should not take 30 minutes to provide any meal that they serve regardless of the amount of customers. A marketing analysis is greatly needed to expedite the customer service and meal prep. 5 Stars for food quality. 2 Stars for customer service! 🤷🏿♂️

Good food but don’t take to order over the phone. I record them for 15 minutes talking about nothing and taking orders while my husband drove down there and seeing no one in there as he placed the order inside. All this while I’m on the phone trying to place my order and remaining on hold for so long. While I was on hold I was forced to listen to one of the cashiers private conversations that I’m sure wasn’t supposed to be public and listening to others laugh and giggle in the background!😞😞😩😩 Why is such a harsh review because I just woke up and I do not feel like hearing peoples conversations when it doesn’t involve me and all I’m trying to do is order some damn food🤬🤬!!!

OMG! What a suprise from this little spot. Food and service both remind me of Nanas cooking growing up. You want authentic made from scratch food done with 💖 this is the spot for you. Dont let the neighborhood keep you from enjoying some fantastic food. I also had a slice of strawberry cake to go and it was delicious. If you happen to see German chocolate cake get 2 slices one for now and one for later. You will thank me later when you do.

Great neighborhood diner. Breakfast was cooked to order an delicious! Came for a track meet and was looking for a good home cooked meal. They didnt let me down. Plus the waitress was really nice. I will definitely be back!!!

The only good thing about my visit today was my server Nesha. It took forever to get our food because there was only one cook and Im assuming that none of the rude older women walking around knew how to help in the kitchen. When we finally got our food it was under seasoned and the fried food tasted like the grease was old. I understand that sometimes restaurants have off days but this was extremely disappointing.
It is because the food is well seasoned and generously served at good prices.its the place to go for good home styled food

Pretty decent meat and three diner. The last meal I ate here was breakfast. I ordered the salmon patties with rice and cheese eggs. My salmon was a little too fishy tasting for my taste, but Im not a seafood lover anyway. Ill go back soon for lunch or dinner.

I kid u not they have the Best Fried Chicken I tasted in Birmingham, AL. The serve food from hot bar but i never bother to get it. I go straight for the Fried Chicken! A 4pc is $6.99 which compared to other places is OVER PRICED for whole wings (not including fries or a drink) but overall Im willing to splurge for the flavor. But honestly I would eat here more if the prices wasnt as high as Green Acres which is only a notch below in quality

Customer Service comes over food, period. The Female Owner attitude is so nasty. She talks about Customers with other Customers. Very Unapologetic for her actions. Just because a restaurant has been opened for many years, dont mean start treating Customers any kind of way. This is the main reason she is having to close down the restaurant early because business is getting really slow. Keep her out the restaurant and watch how the business pick up. I am not from Birmingham and was recommended to this place. I also recommended Family and Friends that would visit from out of town to this place. Which was at least 30 more Customers that was stopping by. Not anymore. Clean up your attitude Mrs Owner or leave the business for someone else to run. Thanks!

Offered fried or grilled salmon- requested fried- received 2 patties w/no oil n taste or sight- dust bowl dry- never had grilled salmon patties; & O, requested add cheese to grits- what cook puts half a cheese slice UNDER the grits. The newbie waitress was seriously efficient- she got the 3stars.
Wont accept purchases less than $5.00 on debit or credit card. I wanted a piece of cake... But with taxes came to $4.39. their cakes are delicious. Their policies stink! I was disappointed. Take your purchases less than $5.00 elsewhere!
My granddaughters birthday party was booked for 12 noon. My daughter placed deposit as requested. The day of the party he changes the time of availability to 2:00. This meant having to call the guests, some were not available at the new time, so my 10 year old granddaughter now cannot have the party planned and was disappointed.
The Best Birmingham has to offer. In 💘. Will definitely be returning.
