The owner is exceptionally knowledgeable and very friendly. He will make sure you are satisfied with your purchase. I live in Florida yet when visiting relatives in Michigan we made our way to the store. I enjoyed my experience there so much I ended up buying a Taylor acoustic 12 string and had it shipped to Florida. I will be checking in with Detroit guitar now every time I come to visit in Michigan.

Great store, amazing guitars. But their service is very lacking. They’ve had my guitar for a month now just to switch the set up from 9s to 10s. I was told 2 weeks, 4 weeks ago. Again, love to support local businesses, but I cannot recommend servicing your guitar here.

Even though I didnt purchase anything from them(not yet but definitely will in the near future), I was treated as if I were a long time customer. I recently purchased a used bass guitar from them online. Now, the bass was about 15 years old and aesthetically was in great shape. The price was fair and shipping was prompt. Upon receiving the bass I of course did a visual inspection and attempted to set the instrument up to my taste. When attempting to set the bass up I noticed the action was high and soon found out why...The truss rod was maxed out so it could not be tightened anymore. One could think this went unnoticed by the company. However, the bass was serviced and even came with a checklist of service, i.e. fret polish, crown and level, ECT... Which, tells me someone noticed the truss rod maxed out and did not bother to tell me. I just expected a bit more transparency from a company with such a pristine reputation.

This is a great store in every way. Ive bought 3 guitars and an amp from here and every experience has been awesome. The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly, and doesnt pressure you at all. I ordered a new Danelectro stock 59 from this store. When I received it the vinyl was peeling up. I contacted Detroit guitar about it. I was instructed to glue it back down. These things happen if the gutair goes through temperature changes. So if you live in Ontario.... 2h away, dont order from here. The guitar cant handle the trip. No compensation will be offered.

Staff was rude and made my buddy and I feel very unwelcome in the store. Selection of guitars was entirely strats and tele’s with along with their store brand. Definitely won’t be back, would much rather go to guitar Center where the staff is always kind and approachable and happy to help unlike these guys

Wonderful location with a great selection of instruments. The customer service is excellent. Unlike most places, the guitars are all in tune right off the stand.

We went in today and the guy was extremely rude to us. Seemed angry when we asked if we could play some of the guitars, impatient with all my friends, and when we asked him questions he literally told us Ask me some better questions! I just sell guitars. He wouldnt look us in the eye and kept on scrolling through Facebook when we asked him about different things in the store like the posters or the merchandise, and answered every single question like that with a one word answer. I really thought this was one of the coolest guitar stores but no guitar is worth rude behavior. Definitely the last time Ill be coming here. Wish I could leave less stars because this place has done nothing but left a sour taste in my mouth. Never been treated so poorly in my life. And buddy, if youre reading this, you can write it off and deny this all you want, but we arent stupid and we all know what you were acting like.

The guys running the place are super helpful. If they cant get you what you want they know someone who can. Also, the gear they stock is second to none.

For a little shop, its got a ton of stuff, and the people who work there are always super helpful and knowledgeable. And like I saw other people say, they really are no-pressure. Its always my first stop when looking for anything.

Store has a good selection and all, but doesn’t sell ANY used gear and most of the items I saw were overpriced. Not a bad store to visit if you need something new NOW, but there are definitely better options locally for acquiring gear.

Sure. You could get the same stuff online, but why. First of all, the idea of buying a guitar off the internet is absurd when you think about it. Gonna buy it before strumming it once??!!. I love Detroit guitars, because Charlie will definitely match any big boxstore or website, and hes just way cooler. They have strings and accessories and lessons. Tons of amps, pedals, electric and acoustic guitars, and basses. Staff knows what theyre talking about, and theres no guitar store employee snobbery. That alone makes the trip to Detroit Guitars worth the gas money. Dont be cheap!!!

Dont bother. The salesman was a blowhard who wouldnt even look at us. Some guy walked in after us and he jumped up to help him immediately.Also, he didnt know there was a Jumbo Junior bass. Look it up, Guild makes it.

Having purchased many guitars from music stores locally, several being Strats, Les Pauls, I had never purchased such a fine instrument the was in exact specification in every detail. It plays fantastic and is a quality guitar in every aspect. Outstanding customer service, great packaging, and I received this in two days of payment from Michigan to Wisconsin. Two types of stores I love. Bicycle stores and guitar stores. Like most, Im not a fan of the national chains. Pick a reason. When DG popped up in town, I was pretty happy. After I went in, I remembered why I love guitar stores. DG has a great selection. They carry Fender (my favorite) and Danelectro (very cool). Personally, I think guitars are a work of art and going into DG is like going into a gallery.Oh, yeah. I traded in two low mileage guitars (no hassles) and picked up a new Stratocaster. Fun place. Easy to work with. Good pricing. Zero complaints.

This would be the fourth time Ive been to the store, and every time the staff has been incredibly friendly and helpful. All of their guitars are setup impeccably, even the lower end Squiers are setup great. Its great to see such a collection of Gretsch, PRS, Gibson and Taylor guitars, as well as the incredible Carr Amps. Very thought-out, classy establishment. Easily the best guitar shop in Metro Detroit.

I ordered a Taylor 314ce RW 2015 Ltd Cedar Top with a Rosewood back and sides from Detroit Guitar. Both Charlie and Andrew were extremely helpful in making sure that my purchase went smoothly. Just like Charlie said, my special order guitar was in my hands in only seven days after placing the order. The setup of the guitar was perfect and the solid wood cedar and rosewood combination creates a warm and mellow tone.I would recommend the Taylor 314ce RW 2015 Ltd guitar to anybody that loves to finger pick or just has a soft touch.
