I took two rifles in to have some parts changed out (factory parts that I provided). They changed the parts and charged me a fair rate. After 30 rounds at the firing range one of my rifles quit cycling rounds. I took it back to have it looked at again. After two weeks it’s ready and the entire problem was caused by improper installation the first time. They charged $115 to fix a problem that they caused. That’s bad business in my opinion. I won’t be returning and I would highly recommend that you read reviews before using this business. Buyer Beware.

Had been going to this gun store for months with 0 issues until you want service done. On June 29th I drop off some stripped AR-15 parts to get cerekoted. I was quoted around $550 with a 4-6 week lead time which seemed reasonable. I was getting a camo pattern and and some solid color work done. About 5 weeks go by and I call for an update. I was told their paint gun broke and they were waiting on getting another in to complete my work. I wait, and another week and a half go by, so I call again. This time Im told that they are waiting on my pattern to arrive thats been held up in shipping. A couple more weeks go by (probably week number 12 out of my 4-6 week lead time) and I get my first call from the store. They tell me my gun is next up but forgot what colors I wanted on it even though I told them the day I dropped the parts off. After explaining everything again I was told the parts would be ready the next week. I call the next week and ask what the status is and Im told it has only been prepped. At this point Im fed up and I tell them Im just going to come and pick everything up. Once I arrive to the store (keep in mind this is week number 14) I get my box of parts and nothing has been touched. Nothing was prepped, as there was dust on my lower, and I had been lied too for weeks. Do not come here for custom work or cerekoting. You have better luck at Precision Tactical, in hoover, where they do not lie to their customers.

Brought my gun in to replace the stock on a Stoeger over & under and was charged $235. I purchased and provided the stock seperate. No quote was given just a statement that it shouldnt be that much as it is less then an hour of labor. I am sure they are nice folks but not my cup of tea on gun repairs.

Ill start off with the good first. The staff is top notch and Mike, the guy I dealt with, has an amazing mustache. Now the bad. I dropped a gun off around the beginning of November for a Cerakote job thinking that would give the gunsmith plenty of time to complete the job before Christmas. Christmas came and went with no gun under my tree. I called a few days after to get an update. Now the really bad...I was told it was almost done. The new year came and went so I decided to go there to see for myself. Again, I dealt with the same people at the front who are good as gold. Mike brings me the gun from the back and it hasnt been touched once. I was told the gunsmith just had a kid and thats why it wasnt completed. My gripes are the lack of communication and being told something that wasnt true. Doing business is an art and this place missed the mark. Sorry, but I cant do business with a place like that again.

Took my 1911 to have night sights installed. Took almost a month to get it back. When I did get it back the tritium vial for the front sight was cracked which made it a dead sight. To top that off the guy epoxies the front sight into the frame instead of staking it in. I have pictures and receipt to verify the quality of work you get from this guy. I suggest you stay away from HDC. I had to give one star just to write the review but they dont deserve even that. Ill never use them again for anything.

I tried to spend money with these guys 4 different times this hunting season and they never would get product in. I was told Millennium shipments were coming so I would go to the store and NOTHING. Finally I told them to call me when you get something in. Today I called and the guy says we dont have anything, we got a huge order of it and it didnt sell so we sent it back. WHAT?!? You wont ever grow if you dont take care of the customers who keep coming back and back.

Let me first say that I am not one to typically write negative reviews, it has to be a REALLY poor experience for me to do so. Also, this is pertaining to just one aspect of their business...gunsmithing.The good is that the staff members are very friendly. With the lack of a good gun store/gunsmith in the area, I was glad to find HDC and really wanted to have a good experience, but I just haven’t so far. A little over six weeks ago, I dropped off four guns, three just needed the muzzle breaks changed and one shotgun I wanted Cerakoted. After my calling a couple times, it took roughly a month to have the muzzle breaks swapped, which is about a 5-10 minute process for each rifle. I was charged for an hour of work, but that wasnt what bothered me, it’s just how long it took to get it done from the time I dropped it off. There was no timing needed on the breaks being installed, just simply unscrew one, and thread on the other. One of the rifles has a scratch on the barrel from the process. After it taking so long, I wasn’t going to bother bringing it up. I just paid and left. When I dropped off the shotgun, I let them know that I needed the gun for a quail trip to GA on 3/13/20. They initially said that was far enough out that it shouldn’t be a problem at all. Every time I’ve called or went by the store, neither of the two gunsmiths were in, yet I’m told that there are many guns waiting to be serviced. On one occasion I was told that the person I was speaking with on the phone was the only one working, and the second person that was suppose to be there was a “no show” and he couldn’t leave the front to even check on the status of my gun in the back. Called back several hours later...same story. On an in person visit two weeks ago I was told, “I’m sure they’ll get around to it this week or next.” Here it is the day before my trip, and the job hasn’t even been started.I’ve asked numerous times to be called with an estimate of how much longer this would take... ultimately never receiving a call. They did offer to let me come get the gun to use on my trip, and they would save my place in line for service work. Unfortunately, after my experience thus far, I’m not inclined to continue to try. It seems that most of the negative reviews on this business are centered around gunsmithing, which is a shame. I had high hopes, but was sadly let down. I will be picking up my gun today, and I’ll take my gunsmithing business elsewhere. Maybe I’ll try them for a purchase or FFL transfer at a later time. For now, the store had promise, but failed on execution.* picked it up today... one person working and still no gunsmith on site. Per their website they claim to be the ”Largest Gunsmithing machine shop in the state.” Thats great, but what good is having the biggest shop if there’s no one there?

The prices are no cheaper than anywhere else and the only reason we even purchased the gun here was to help a local business. The gun was a Christmas present and we also got it painted. We purchased the gun at the end of November and was promised it would take just a little bit as there were just a few ahead of us. Called multiple times to be told it was laying on the bench to be put together. 5 weeks later. Will not step foot back in this place and will tell everyone I know to do the same.

I have had a nightmare of an experience with this company! Nathan Hunt or any of his employees are certified gunsmiths nor do they have requirements of a gun smith but charge $80 per hour while a professional gun smith on average charges $40 per hour!I brought a Remington 870 to be repaired due to a damaged magazine tube that needed to be replaced. I was quoted $215 for the repair or they would send it to Remington but I was promised it would be ready for turkey season in March since I was dropping it off at the beginning of February. I was given an excuse every time I stopped by the store or called to check on the repair. Finally June 10th they call and say the gun is ready. I go to pick it up and they have a price of $415! I was infuriated but kept my cool and spoke with the owner he brought the bill down to $347.23! So I paid it to get my gun back. The gun still doesn’t function properly and is not cycling shells. So I bring it back and Nathan takes it to the back and “tweaks” it and shows me it will cycle shells. When I get home to show off the gun I slide the pump action open then closed and the cap on end of tub falls off releasing the barrel and the gun fell apart. I noticed the damages were still on the So I returned to the store on 6/15 and asked Nathan what he can do about this problem and why the original mag tube was still on it and then askedwhy he charged me double of other gunsmiths for gun repair if he does not have a 4 year degree in gunsmithing. He told me he could give me $300 for the shotgun that I have paid $650 for it new. I asked how is that fair?! Nathan responded to me by telling me get out of his store! And what do you mean if I would have conducted myself better? The magazine tube was still damaged because it was never replaced. How do you feel good about that quality of work? You seem very professional over the computer but what happened today was very unprofessional.

I had a great experience at the HDC HuntStore!I took in two guns to be worked on, one for cerakote only and one for a complete overhaul. I really didnt have high hopes for the second of the two since it was in such bad shape to begin with.Boy, was I surprised! 4 weeks later, I wasnt even sure they were returning the same gun! It looked awesome! Definitely something to show off. Expert gunsmithing at a very reasonable price. Thanks HDC for bringing life back into a sentimental piece that I thought was gone for good. I will be proud to pass it down to my son!If you need a gun worked on or are looking for something new, go see these guys!

The service was terrible! My boyfriend and his dad got a gun from there for my boyfriends sister back in November. There wasnt many people ahead of them from what the employee told them so it shouldnt take long. My boyfriends sister wanted it colored. They have checked in with HDC to see if the gun was ready. One day they went and it was colored, but was not put back together. The next time his dad went and they wouldnt give it to him and said he had not paid for it. His dad had to drive all the way home to get the receipt and then go back.

Im not one to complain but I had dropped a rifle off for them to do a complete build: new stock, trigger, barrel, muzzle brake, and paint. Ill start off with the good: the customer service was really good, everytime I called they gave me the best answer they could. And I understand that they had to wait on parts for the rifle, which I was fine with. Now for the bad... Well ive had the rifle back for about a year and a half and I have never been able to shoot a group due to the gun not being able to shoot anything consistant. I took the rifle to another gunsmith and they said it was the muzzle brake. When I got home I decided to check the threads on the barrel, needless to say the outside diameter of the threads are way to small and are not getting good enough contact with the muzzle brake threads (a ton of play when you put the brake on). So now Ill have to take the rifle to another gunsmith and get them to cut the barrel down and re-thread it. Also when they were putting the 20 MOA scope base back on they put the short screws in the back and the long ones in the front (which is reversed) and the screws in the back stripped on day when I was trying to zoom in. The company who made the base sent me new screws to replace the stripped ones. All in all the customer service and people that are behind the desk are nice but the gunsmith isnt the best.

I am usually not one to complain but I think in this case it is warranted. I dropped a Glock 30 Gen 4 off to have night sights, which I provided and had already installed the front sight on, and an extended slide stop lever installed. I also left a Remington 870 that was not ejecting spent shells to be fixed. First, the guy tells me that the Glock would be ready the Tuesday after the Saturday I dropped the gun off. Tuesday rolls around and no call but I didnt think anything about it because I thought the shotgun might take some time and they would just wait until both were ready. I get a call, and I cant remember how long it had been now, saying the shotgun is ready. No mention of the Glock. I ask about the Glock and the girl said it wasnt ready but didnt know any details. So, I ask her if I can wait until its ready and get them both at once. I live in Birmingham so I didnt want to have to make multiple trips there. She says thats fine and that she will call when both are ready. At least 2 weeks maybe 3 goes by and I dont get a call so I call back. The girl says they are both ready and I ask if my grandad, who is retired, can pick them up for me since I work 8-5 in Birmingham and she said thats fine. At this point it has been 1 month since I left the gun and they told me it would take 2 days for the Glock to be finished. I will say that up to this point, everyone I interacted with was very friendly despite some of the aggravation of the long wait time. Anyway, my grandad gets the guns and I ask how much the total was, so I could pay him, and he tells me $274.26. Immediately I realize something is wrong so I call them to find out. Turns out they tried to charge me for the night sights I provided. The guy doesnt even tell me he is sorry for the mistake. He just kept saying they just gave me the gun and the sights and said to put them on, but says they will refund me if I come back. My grandad was good enough to go back a second time to get the refund. So, now I get the guns. Night sights look good and the extended slide catch lever is installed. Originally I intended to install the night sights myself and did install the front sight myself. I realized that I would not be able to push the factory rear sight out without scratching the gun so that was my primary reason for taking the gun to them in the first place. Turns out they scratched the top of the slide up anyway and managed to put a scratch on the back of the slide as well. At this point I just chalk this experience up to you live and learn and decided I would not be going back. Then, I get to go to the range last weekend for the first time since getting the guns back. Five rounds through the Glock and I realize the locking block pin (the smaller pin highest up on the frame above the trigger) has now almost completely walked out of the frame. Not once had this happened before I left the gun with this place. I am irritated at this point and when I get home I break the gun down, go ahead and take the pin all the way out, make sure its dry so its not just walking from having too much oil on it, and push it back into the frame from right to left. Next, I go back to the range yesterday and put some rounds through it. I got around 40 rounds through it and see that the pin is still walking out, just not as rapidly as before. So now my carry gun is not safe to carry and is scratched. The gun was flawless in function up until this place got ahold of it. And now has some scratches thrown in just for good measure. As far as the shotgun goes, they charged me $86 to polish the chamber because they said some rust was causing the shells not to eject after being shot. I shot a half box of birdshot through it and still had a shell not eject. Now it looks like I will have to find another gunsmith or send both these guns back to the manufacturer to be fixed.I would not recommend anyone taking a gun to this place unless you just want to pay someone to mess up your perfectly fine gun or charge you out the nose to fix something and not even fix it.
