Friendly service. Great selection.

Im a beer guy mostly and their prices are fair. They do have some product that doesnt move for a while - check the best by dates on your hoppy beers to make sure you arent getting a year-old IPA. Their liquor is significantly marked up, the wine less so I think. The guys behind the counter are kind of a trip but they get an eclectic mix of customers so that kind of makes sense. They do get a decent amount of some difficult-to-find beers, so its not a bad place to look if youre hunting for a barrel aged Founders beer, etc.

False advertisement!!!The advertised 15% discount on non cold wine is being selectively applied to certain customers. I have on 2 occasions questioned the owner about my purchase total not reflecting the 15% advertised discount. I have referred several friends and family to Highland Package Store for the purpose of the 15% discount, which leads me to wonder if they too have been the victims of Highland Package’s False Advertisement. The final straw occurred today (July 18th 2021) after I purchased my usual ( Adesso) along with a first time Rotari and didn’t receive a discount on neither ($30.78), I chose not to question the owner during checkout and decided to call once I got home.. he offered no valid excuse nor offered to apply a future credit. Needless to say I will no longer be buying from nor referring others to this un-American package store. Besides, Piggly Wiggly in Bluff Park has the same wine (Adesso) at a cheaper listed price... plus tax of course. Question: Why advertise a 15% discount on non cold wine, if you’re not going to offer it to each and every paying American customer?... maybe Highland Package has the answer.

Cant say enough great things about the owners of this package store. They are not only friendly and kind but run a store full of every available beer, wine, and liquor distributed in Alabama

If you are feeling flush with money than this is the place to go. For a 4 pk of Founders beer will cost you $24 but at a normal store only $14. And check your receipt for he will charge you more than you really purchased. Hope you enjoy your $16 dollar tip. Last time I will ever go here and I will make sure to let everyone know about my experience.Poor business. Contacted Founders about there practices.Four beers but charged for five. 5.99 is the price per each bottle of Founders beer in a four pk.

The alcohol here is very very expensive compared to other places. I found the exact same bourbon 20 dollars cheaper in a different location

The owners here are super nice and their prices are just as good if not better than most places. They have a really decent beer selection, and you can fill up your own growler. Lots of wines to choose from, and their liquor selection is decent, depending on what youre looking for. Highly recommend supporting this local business!

The owner makes this place worthwhile. If youd like to see them add a select item, just form a rapport with the owner and hell make it happen.

Great beer selection. They often have gems tucked away that have disappeared from other shelves in town. They also have a selection of beer on draft to fill growlers, but Ive never got one. Beer prices are reasonable, if inconsistent. Ive seen stuff lower than everywhere else in town, and above. As far as liquor is concerned, everything is far more expensive than what you would pay at a state store, but thats the norm for package stores in Alabama.

The only place in Birmingham I have found Fernet Branca. Great when you over eat, which I have been known to do on more than one occasion. Great beers and other alcohol, but over priced.

Good selection and hours, but shady business practices. *Always* ask for an itemized receipt and review it carefully. They dont scan the items, they just key in what they think it costs so one or two items will usually be sky high.

This is an amazing establishment owned by some remarkable individuals. They have a wonderful selection of Wines & some Top Shelf Spirits. If youre in the Downtown Area you should definitely check them out!!!!

Terrific craft beer stop. The guy working (most likely the owner) is nice and friendly. Plenty of stock of Alabama beers, in addition to lots offerings from Westbrook, Terrapin, Evil Twin and many many others. They offer growlers also. If youre a craft beer fan, stop & shop here!

The hookah bar after hours is a great place for friends to enjoy different tobaccos if you like to smoke, the package store has a variety of beers,wines,party favors,mixers, and much more to quench, or fill any party or social need. Great place for gift ideas around the holidays and reasonably priced. My wife really enjoys visiting.

Def my go to when looking for upper end craft beer and whiskey. staff is funny and personable. Also this is where i go to get my growlers filled. usually a good growler selection

Great selection. Prices are a bit off at times but it goes both ways. Some things are slightly overpriced, some are under priced. You just have to know your price points. Again, the selection is outstanding.

Pretty good selection of beer and liquor. Easy place to stop by after work or after other places close. Only negatives are higher prices, cleanliness of draft beer section (I dont attempt it anymore) and sketchy crowd in the area. Super awesome craft beer shop. Lots of taps for growler fills, and you can get a growler there if you forgot yours at home. Huge selection of local, regional, and national beers, along with international.

Huge selection of beer, wine, and liquor. The store is no longer up to par with places like Hop City, The Beer Hog, etc., but they always seem to have the hard to find beers. Parking can be an issue here so be prepared to search for a parking spot.

Buying liquor in Birmingham was very different from other experiences Ive had. This place had a vg selection but finding what I was lf was a challenge as everything was kind of all over the place.

On September 9 my family came in town from Miami because of the hurricanes...when we got there we looked around for a few minutes, my cousins phone died so he went out side to the car to get his brothers phone to call his girlfriend to see what she had a taste for while he was outside the short Arabian looking guy told one of the Associates to watch me...the young guy walked over and asked if i needed help I told him no Im was waiting on my cousin to make a decision he said ok let me know if u need help and walked away all of a sudden I heard the short Arabian guy screaming and yelling at the dude telling him he should not have left he told him to watch me and stay over there so the young guy did as was told but didnt make it too obvious even though the Arabian guy was screaming at the top of his lungs while there were customers in line waiting on him.. then he stepped from behind the register came over to me and me cousin yelling at us telling us we need to hurry up and stopping walking out of the store.. one of my cousin tried to explain why he walked out of the store the guy was yelling over him and then started to walk off so I put the$60 Ed Hardy bottle back down told him I would never walk in the store again... I thought it was very disrespectful in the walk over to us screaming at us and also screaming at his associates if we were going to steal which I know this will he thought we were doing we would have been in and out not just sitting there trying to make a decision and then after trying to explain to him the reason why he didnt want to listen and try to talk over us... He didnt know the situation that my cousin was going thru in Miami and didnt care to understand the situation i felt as if it was very unprofessional

This place is usually very laid back and a cool spot to go for a drink or hookah. However, last Saturday night will be my last time spending money in this establishment. We were eating and drinking at the reserved table when we were approached by someone in management. He proceeded to open a trash bag and pop it full of air . Just whipping it In front of all of us while we are still talking and having a good time . He told the closest person to him that this bag was to be used to clean up our food or there would be a ten dollar charge. When that person told him thats fine we will do that, but please dont whip a trash bag out In front of us like that, He went off !!!! He told her he didnt care what she thought it didnt matter, this was a Three hundred dollar table and others have left trash before, that she could get up and get out, and that no one else is complaining but you! We all chimed in with No she is not alone you were rude and are now even more rude. He walked away after basically telling paying customers 1: he didnt care how they felt and 2: you can get out ! Needless to say all 6 of us will not be back.

I came on here purely to say that the people posting reviews saying that this place is cheap are either the actual Monopoly man or are just complete idiots. This stores prices are freaking outrageous. It is less than a five minute drive from my house and yet I instead drive 15 minutes away to go to a different liquor store because this places prices are so exorbitant. I can get the same bottle at an ABC for about $20 less than I can get it at Highland Package.
