I found Chocolate Spike when I looked up “chocolate” in Blacksburg. Little did I know what a momentous event this was. Chocolate Spike is operating out of a booth out in front of the Hethwood Market during COVID. The chocolatier (who’s name I missed) was happy to make a custom box of truffles for me, dark chocolate and dark chocolate mocha, and OH MY. Truly, they are the silkiest truffles I’ve ever had the good fortune to eat. Rich, full of flavor, not too sweet (dark chocolate remember?), and melt in your mouth like whipped butter. We will certainly be back. Perhaps more than is good for us.

Genie ( the owner) is so GREAT! I stop in from time to time looking for a gift or special treat for someone. She always has nice suggestions. She puts the extra nice touch on everything! When I want a high quality treat, presented beautifully this is my go to store! The dark cherry bark is so good! If you havent been here yet you NEED to go by!

Chocolates are only average. But very expensive. One of the staff. The younger girl was very helpful. The older lady was quite rude. Poor location. And the space was a complete dump. I know they moved fairly recently. But it looked like a storage room with a small chocolate display.

Had a lovely chat with the store owners and got mixed boxes of fudges and truffles. All were delicious and had flavors Id never experienced with chocolate! Dont buy chocolate from the grocery store. If youre going to eat the calories, do it right and get good chocolate. There were so many kinds and I want to try them all.

A must stop if you are in the area. Prices are not too bad and everything is delicious. Id regularly pick up a few things to try when Im in the area and then savor them over the next few days.

EDIT: The last time we ate out nearby, we went to Chocolate Spike for some chocolates (to wash down mediocre Mexican cuisine). They were closed! We were so disappointed! I hope its not permanent, but it looked like it was.Amazing array of truffles, brittles, chocolate-covered fruits and more! I highly recommend the glacés and chocolate-covered fig candies. Boxes of candy are ready to be purchased if youre in a hurry. Friendly service, too!

I love their choclate covered raisins and pecans. However service in here can be slow. Almost everything is priced per pound. Today I waited 15 minures to be served, because the family in front of me wanted, one of those, one of those and so on.Each item had to be weighed and added to the register. It just took way too long. I left without buying anything, because I got so frustrated. They need a dual pricing system, price per unit and price per pound. The flow needs to be faster.
