Ewing Cabinet is not a good contractor for remodeling kitchens. You will pay premium prices but you will not get premium quality results.The most significant and non-repairable poor quality work from my remodel centered around the tile flooring. Ewing did not properly level the floor prior to laying out the tile and did not use floor leveling spacers during installation. As a result, numerous tiles are not level with each other which is very noticeable.They also did not install the under floor heating cable properly. Around 5, and up to 8 inches of exposed floor near the fronts of the counters (under the toe space) did not get heating cable installed. If you are standing in front of any of the counters you will feel the front part of your foot as cold and the back part of your foot as warm. This is very annoying if you are barefoot or are only wearing socks.Less significant issues involved not flashing the siding at the bottoms of the new window openings to protect the siding from rain seeping from behind the window trim until I told them they had to do so.They did not smooth out the interior trim work joints (baseboards, window/door trim) until I told them to do so.There also was a design issue that I caught early on that I feel should have never been presented to me.There were other issues but I will leave this review to these. One of the most frustrating things is that many of these issues are low-cost issues that could have easily been performed properly from the beginning yet they did not do so.No matter who you get to do your remodel, watch them like a hawk and learn the basic trades of what is needed to properly perform your remodel. Get details in the contract as well.

Personally, having worked along side this company I can tell you do not hire them. I’ve stopped helping them altogether but they draw customers in with a fancy show. When it comes construction time the work is bid out to the cheapest contractor. When coming time to pay and what not Paul Ewing is infamously bad about relationships with customers and subcontractors alike. The quality of work is bad because of the management’s persistence on speed. Go with someone else and pay a little extra. I recommend Shelter alternatives out Blacksburg and I’m one of their former employees too so there is no bias. Just I want to see homeowners not be screwed.

I emailed in asking for a quote to do flooring and some plumbing work in our home. I received the response, We will not be bidding on this project. I do not feel that this response was appropriate to a customer. This job may have been to small for this company, but to have that communicated would have been appreciated. We will take our business elsewhere with the addition we are also planning.
