Its a chain store selling a variety of goods, stationery, clothes, home wares, etc. The one in Newbury is nice and spacious, as well as a custom embroidery station where you can choose an embroidery pattern/letters for a shirt, towel, tote bag, handkerchief, and others. My favorite item from Muji has always been their pens, they write very smoothly and make a perfect addition to any students pencil case. The prices are somewhat mid-range but I think its a store that has something for everyone.Just be careful visiting during the start of school months (late August/early September). We visited during this time and there was almost nothing on the shelves. Its a very, very popular shopping spot for new and returning students. Otherwise, its a great store to browse and shop at!

Embroidery wasnt opened, which was what I came there for. Be aware that the aromatherapy section might attack you throughout the shop... the day I came it smelled like ginger.Got 3 pairs of socks for $10. Pretty good deal. Other than that, rather disappointed. My expectations were way higher.

For a jackedass street like newbury, this place is sort of a diamond in the rough. Instead of dropping all of your money and going outside to see ypur car being towed away for parking, youll only spend a little bit ( your car will still be towed though, thats not their fault)

Nice brand and products but the service at least in this location really has a lot of room for improvement.1. They have sales going on but ads dont describe the sale coverage clearly. So when you ask if an item is on sale and it tuns out its not, the staff will look at you and ask in an unfriendly tone:Are you sure its the same item? Of course Im not sure! Thats why I ASK! I was the only customer at the cashier so no excuse for that attitude.2. They currently close at 7 pm but stop letting people in when I arrived at 6:50, even if explaines that I already know what I wanted and just wanted to grab and go. Had to make anothe trip downtown to buy what I needed.3. They offered to take things out of the box for you when asked if there is a way for better carrying the bulky item, but without telling you that it cannot be returned or exchanged once out of the box (evening with the package bag on). They dont tell you with the price you can order online and get free shipping and dont have to worry about transporting it.4. Also they dont mention there is a certain color online when they dont have inventory in store.Anyway, its not like the staff are bad or with ill intention. Its just that the way customers are treated are just sooooo inconsiderate, especially when its coming from a Japanese brand.

If you are in the area, this is a must stop shop. They have a great selection of pretty much everything you could think of, ranging from stationary to clothing, and household items, you will find something you need (or want). They have a great selection of pens, pencils, markers, etc. Which are a favorite among the students in Boston. Muji also has an expanding clothing section, many of the styles are similar to Uniqlo. Staff is very nice and welcoming.

Has wide selection and always organized and well stocked. Did have a very offputting cashier. I walked up because no one was at the counter and the cashier yells he was helping someone else. The customer walked away and grabbed another item. I backed off clearly not trying to jump the line but how was I suppose to know? And why yell at customers? The other customer apologized which they didnt have to! Anyways, I avoid going in if I can or try get a different cashier. Totally different from San Francisco; very helpful and polite. No one bothers me in the store but they also dont ask if I need any help.

You could easily spend 1 hour and find some nice stationery stuff or home goods of good design. But the service can be improved. I am a loyal customer, but I am so disappointed today, one of the non Asian staff was so rude to me.It is a quiet Friday evening when I did my last shopping for paper notebooks and kitchen tools. The cashier as Register #3 may be named Da***nn was impatient when I showed the promo code from a text msg. I understand it is late and almost 10 min before store close. The cashier was not well-trained and seams not willing to apply the discount code or even didnt know how to authorize the promo code. Please take some time to train your employees.

I can’t say the same for the store manager, I have never seen them. I hope MUJI upper management realizes how vital Jaime’s presence is to their success at the Boston location, and give him a promotion, or at least a raise, for his endless hard work, his limitless customer service, and constant care for customers. He truly is the backbone of this store and I would hate to see him not get what he deserves for his efforts.

An unexpected find. I dont frequent Newbury St often, but found this place and fell in love. Simple, quality, and fair priced garments that fell more into the style category, rather than the fashion that typifies Newbury St establishments. They also have some great home items and adult coloring books. I removed a star because they dont do gift cards and the gift exchange policy is non existent. You have to exchange with original credit card.

Most incompetent staff I’ve ever seen: purchased a toothbrush stand, payed for it, asked the staff to put them in my shopping bag from Uniqlo, and surprisingly when I arrived home, THERE WAS NO TOOTHBRUSH STAND IN MY BAG AT ALL.He even stamped a final sale on the receipt to let me know that toothbrush stand is not refundable so he definitely knew that I purchased it.Next time MUJI can just say sorry they don’t put their products into competitor’s bag, that would be much better than pretending have sold them to the customer but actually don’t give you what you payed for. Thieves.PS. The Toronto flagship store is way better.

I bought one of the larger acrylic drawer trios for my desk. It was completely cracked on one side but I didnt realize until I got home. When I went to exchange for a new one the next week the store manager told me there were no returns. He asked if I knew it was broken when I bought it. I told him I hadnt realized and just wanted a non-cracked one. He agreed after telling me they wouldnt normally do this and not to expect it again in the future.

Beware the return policy. It starts out like any other retailer: “Merchandise may be returned within 30 days from the purchase date.” However, it goes on to classify most items as FINAL SALE despite lack of in-store signage or labels indicating as such. Example: soap dispensers are classified as “personal care” at MUJI. The categories they list are very broad and can be widely interpreted to essentially bar any item from being returned. Overall a very shady policy.

The store was busy when we went, but it didnt feel that way. Customer service was great, and the checkout line moved super quickly (even though it was a long line). Quality of the items in the store seemed good. I purchased essential oil and it seems of good quality. My boyfriend bought a few home items which we both thought were nice. My only complaint was that they were out of a few items (but I wanted those chopsticks). But given they just opened Ill say they might of just ran out due to high demand.
