Great reeds and an extremely well designed (Balam) back strap sent fast and secure to the other side of the planet. One day I hope I can visit in person!
I’m filling a lawsuit for the property damage caused by the explosion when I played on these for the first time. But all joke asides DAMN are these reeds indescribably good. I’m a teen, haven’t spent a whole lot of years on sax so I never really understood what people meant when they used the words responsive and the sorts when describing gear. I full well understand now. Hope to see ya on stage one day! Thanks a bunch!
Never personally have been in person, but having ordered reeds, neck straps, and recently ordering the S Series Mouthpiece, I absolutely love the quality of products that Jack puts out. I’ve messaged BSS many times on Instagram, and Jack has responded every time. Love the products and love what Jack is doing in his shop. Just watch out, he may take over the world too.
Sloppy works, although looks professional on the mere surface (very good at acting and making believe).Boston Sax Shop is a big name. But its works doesnt really match it.Players generally dont want to offend the repairmen, for the reason you can imagine, so they always say yes and leave good reviews on the table. But this is misleading, and is damaging the benefit of customers as a whole.
They did a great job of letting us know the situation and refunded the shipping cost even though there was a supply chain issue that was out of their control.
Jack always delivers top-notch work and excellent service.
I purchased a saxophone from Boston Sax Shop. Just wanted to say that working with Jack Finucane is a total pleasure. Besides being a nice guy, he was super communicative, video chatted with me to help get the horn setup, and clearly cared deeply about players having a good experience buying from BSS. I would not hesitate to get a horn from Jack. He will make sure you are happy with your purchase. Also, BSS reeds are just amazing.
Jack is an incredible repairman and provides top notch service. Ive had my horn serviced and overhauled here and hes made my horn the best its ever played. I have the BSS case, neckstrap, and use the reeds and I can say with confidence they are all of the highest quality. The reeds play better than any reeds Ive ever played - they convey your sound without interfering and play very evenly with the perfect amount of resistance.
I have never been in the shop and so only dealt with Jack and co online, Ive only had a couple orders and I can say they are a first rate business. Once I ordered a box of 3 tenor reeds and received 3.5, they sent me the new reeds and let me keep the old with no questions asked. I ordered a Balam strap and it did not fit my body type very well and they took it back without any issues at all. While some items may be a bit pricey, I really like the fact that Jack has character and integrity in how he runs his shop. I may be old but that is something that is very important to me, the quality of the lines that he sells are also top notch, you will not be disappointed.
Jack is THE reason to give support to this business. Such a real and humble shop owner. There is no way I would ever visit any other sax related storefront anytime I am in this area. Thanks for being who you are and bringing it!
Jack is a brilliant repair tech and a great guy! He helped me find an amazing horn for perfect for my budget. His dog Bowie is also very welcoming! By far the best place in New England to buy a horn and get one fixed.
I have a King Super 20 that has had some octave key issues. Jack got it playing better than ever. He also made the keywork super quiet. Thanks for the good work and time.
Jack is amazing. He made a Cannonball tenor play better than it ever did from the factory. Plus hes got a slew of nice cases and accessories for saxophones. Really knowledgeable and a great guy, Boston is lucky to have Jack as a saxophone repair expert.Update: I recently bought a Selmer Super Action 80 Soprano that needed an overhaul. I sent it in to Jack, and he was able to give me a fair price for overhauling this horn. It took one week to do and then he covered shipping for it back to my house. It plays beautifully and looks amazing as well. I have other saxophone friends who are jealous of how well this horn plays now. My five-star review holds for Jack and his shop.
Best. reeds. ever.
Jack knows his stuff! Great reeds from Boston sax shops!
Wonderful shop. Great for musicians. The level of expertise is very good.
Jack is a fantastic guy, he gave me terrific suggestions about mouthpieces and as long as I will leave near to Boston he will be ever a great point of reference. The products he sold me for my tenor sax are simply amazing. Well done Jack!!!!
Jack is world class! Through his craftsmanship at the bench, the development of his amazing BSS product line, and his irrefutable reputation as a trustworthy and honest businessman, he has created what is now one of the premier saxophone shops in the country!
I couldnt be happier with my experiences and purchases at the Boston Sax Shop. Jack Finucane is a master repairman and wonderful person. I recommend this place to the highest degree!
Jack Finucane works fast, does a great job, and is the chillest guy youll ever meet. Worth every penny, and then some. I will come back here for all my sax needs for as long as I live in Boston, and definitely even after that if he supports mailing in saxophones for repair.
Love it! Pro!! 5 Star!!
Excellent service, and a true professional. 👍LTF
Amazing shop. Jack did awesome work on my Yamaha alto sax, was fast, incredibly knowledgeable, and extremely generous with his pricing. Incredible customer service and a really cool guy. Ill be back!
Love this place. Jack is great. His dog is even greater.
Jack is extremely knowledgeable and a very nice guy. I recently came into the shop and played a variety of extremely nice tenors for an hour and went on my way.
Unbelievable service, craftsmanship, and professionalism from Jack. If you are looking for a top-level saxophone you cant go wrong with a business like The Boston Sax Shop.
I ordered a mouthpiece here. Im from Germany and we had to coordinate it a bit. Jack replied immediately to my mails and was super kind - great service!
I recently purchased an Ishimori from Jack. I played alto as a kid and stopped altogether when I went to college. A number of years ago, I took up the piano and then recently decided to get back to playing the sax, as well. I explained to Jack that I was essentially starting over and needed some guidance. After testing an alto, he set me up with the Woodstone New Vintage Tenor VH and I can’t be happier with it. Having such a wonderful instrument has made it so much easier and quicker to get back to the fun I remember. Jack’s individual attention and assistance really made the process easy.
I dropped my alto saxophone 48 hours before a gig, and I didnt feel comfortable playing it on someone elses sax, so I was near panic. I called my old sax teacher from Berklee, and he recommended Jack at the Boston Sax Shop. Jack didnt have any open slots available on his website, but I called him and he squeezed me in, even though it meant working on a Friday night in order to get my sax repaired. He did a great job--my sax seals better on low notes than it did before the repair. He did all the work (removing a dent in a hard-to-reach spot by the middle of the horn by the side C hole, bending the body back into alignment, and replacing some pads in 2 hours. I thought the price was fair (on par with his estimate) and the work was solid. Thanks so much Jack!
Great courtesy and competence. A nice espresso offered too...
Jack is the best in the business, hands down! 🙌
Jack did an excellent job on my 1970 SDA tenor! The dent repairs are great. The formerly clanky action is now slick, light and quiet. It plays more freely and the tone is much more focused; I always loved the sound of this horn but had no idea how much better it could be. Check out the photos on the shop website - now it plays as good as it looks! Youd never guess that the thumbhook was pushed in at least its own thickness. Highly recommended.
Great products! Great service! Fast shipping.
Jack does the best at sax🙂
Best repairman in boston
You will not find a better saxophone repair man than Jack Finucane anywhere in the Greater Boston area!
Jack Finucane is simply the best.
Not very friendly. . . . Staff was perturbed that I brought in a C Melody Saxophone from 1914 for refurbishment and proceeded to quote an outrageous price.
They got my yamaha tenor sax before anyone else could!
Best sax shop around.
Jack is great!
