First time eating at this establishment and here is my review:*Service excellent*Orders we’re delicious and plentiful
Online order for a sausage and pepperoni calzone, large pepperoni and a Garden Salad with grilled chicken. Bothe the pie and calzone were tasty, but the reason why I gave them four stars was because they forgot to include the grilled chicken with the order. I called them back and this very nice lady on the other side was very sorry about the mishap. She offered to give us a refund, which we accepted.
Great place to dine for great food, reasonable prices and terrific service
First time here. Had the House large pizza. Quality toppings and sauce and a good crust. The large seemed a bit more medium plus but still a good pizza.
My family orders from Genaros often, so I was happy to give it a try. The prosciutto and mozzarella grinder was a MAJOR disappointment. The pic on the menu showed a panini-type grinder. What I received was untoasted bread and ham. What I had was not prosciutto. My calzone was okay. As you see from the pic, the top was a little well done. The cheeses and the extra sauce made up for the deficiency. My kids had lobster ravioli and fettuccine alfredo and they were very pleased. Me, not so much, hence the three stars.
Just moved here about 9 months ago near Genaros and came for pizza the other evening. We were very pleased to have a perfectly cooked crust and a delicious topping. We ordered the Margarita with the red sauce. We have eaten pizzas at many different places and Genaros is on our list as one of the best. The staff was also excellent! We will be returning to try some of the other dishes on their menu.
This is the third time I ordered take out and I have to stand by the three strike rule . I live on the shoreline and want to support the locals but you really need to step it up . I ordered a hamburger deluxe twice . First time came charred, rock hard, second time so much Mayo or whatever that sauce was .. it was drowning in it . I couldn’t even pick it up it was soggy and fell all apart, Fries undercooked and soggy. Ordered the fried calamariand twice it was more like it was boiled . Light pale yellow in color, soggy and rubbery . I was in food service for more than thirty years, these are easy items, you really need to do better . Not trying to be mean, I love to see restaurants succeed especially in my own neighborhood .
Great food at a fantastic price.For a small little place they have an excellent yummy menu to choose from. My friends& I truly enjoyed it with a nice glass of wine!
Placed an order through Uber and they gave the driver my order not properly Bagged/Secured when the driver was taking g the order out of the car the bag literally broke and spilled my Penne Alla Vodka all over her car seat/floor. I know it was probably one of the last orders of the night but take pride in your system. Needless to say I contacted Uber and showed pictures to them they gave me a Refund. I just feel bad for that Driver

Genaros is our local go-to for take out. My wife and I always enjoy the pizza!
We have a PIZZA FRIDAY once per month here at our place of business for the employees to celebrate birthdays and just to put a happy smile on everyones faces! ;) Since this only happens once per month we always hope to have a perfect pizza experience. We have ordered around for years and sometimes we hit and sometimes we miss. On this day, Genaros is going down in our book of Favorites...The pizza was baked perfectly, no burned crust! The toppings were super fresh! The Caesar Salad was pre-dressed just right, and they added in extra just in case. Thank You Genaros for giving these hard workers a taste of heaven on a very busy work day!
My wife and I ordered from here for the first time after living so close by, and were kicking ourselves for not trying it out sooner! Quality pizza and kind staff 👌🏽 The only funny thing was that one of our garlic knots had a hotdog baked into it 🤣 Im curious how that happened, but either way everything was great, and well be back for more soon! 😀

I was very pleased by the quality and flavor of the food as well as the service. Specials are terrific and the chef really knows what he is doing. Definitely will be going back to try some other things on the menu. Worth a trip for sure!

My wife and I randomly stopped in for lunch today when driving by and were both blown away. The service and food were top notch 👌. Glad we made the decision to stop in after all this time driving by it daily. We will definitely be returning!

Sadly I have to rate them a 1 ... usually everything is good but we ordered delivery yesterday ... first time I got their wings now my wife and I have good poisoning:/ love the pizza but my tummy says we wont be going back here.
Got a takeout salad with grilled shrimp and it was excellent. Great service, decent value, in a very cute neighborhood. Would definitely go back.
When I received my xlarge Hawaiian pizza, I thought it was a joke. There were maybe two pieces of pineapple on each slice, some none. Would return, but it was delivery. Really disappointed
Delivered late, cold food, smallest portion possible absolutely the worst experience possible. No apology when we called to discuss. Going out of business would be too good for this place !!!

Great Authentic Italian cuisine and Exceptional service
If I could give them ZERO I would. I know its new ownership BUT the same problems remain. WHY should it take 15 to 20 minutes for a meatball on a hardroll when I am the ONLY customer there at 4:15. Unfortunately this is not the first time I walked out. The two times we did get our orders they were WRONG.

Went to Genaros for the first time recently. I was very happy with the meal. I ordered garlic bread with a side of the best sausage north of Arthur Ave. in the Bronx. Also ordered the Penne Carbanara which was perfectly al dente and delicious.Only issue is the parking. I suggest you try this place out!
The pizza was amazing, although we had to wait a bit being the only people in line, its better than an hour for pepes pizza

I only go into Gennaros to pick up my order. There isnt much room to dine in with my whole family and be able to have any privacy at the same time but thats just because its a small restaurant. They have a dots card that every time you make a purchase you scan your card and you build up points for a free topping or free soda with purchase etc. This concept makes me feel better spending my money because atleast Im able to build up for a perk here and there!! The pizza tastes great. I usually get a large pepperoni. I use to get small gluten free pizza but it does not taste as delicious as it use to so hopefully they can do something to fix that up. The steak and cheese sub is decent! All in all the workers are very nice and I like going to pick up my orders at Gennaros very much. Or getting the delivery just the same.
I write again as the first attempt never made it on to the Internet. I had promised to do so in October, 2017 on my second visit. Con tutto rispetto, as a Tollis devotee since the 1950s, I must say that Genaros is an all-around superior experience, although I have not yet tried their pizza (plain-no mozz). I would give Genaros six stars if that were possible. On my first visit I was pleasantly surprised at how good the eggplant parm was-even without a drink as Genaros lacked a beer & wine license at that time. On my second visit on Friday, October 20th,2017, in town from MA for a party at the Owenego, I was able to swim in the Sound at our beach at Little Bay Lane and then WALK (parking in Short Beach is a challenge) up to Genaros for an al fresco dinner that proved that the first iteration was no fluke. Non-native Short Beachers can stay at Kelseys and walk over also) The Veal Parm was superb, as was the side of pasta-portion of spaghettini pasta just right sized, as well as the serving of Veal and cooked aldente and the sauce was at least as good as what I make, if not better-and that is saying a good deal. Bottom line: Genaros is the best thing going for Italian food on the CT shoreline and best of all, you dont need to deal with East Haven traffic (and cops) if you are on the east end of Branford and plan to go back after dinner-just nip over on 142 and back. Just be aware of parking difficulties-the places are there if you know where to look-and BYOB until such time as they are licensed. Centanni da Genaro!!MIchael R. Cave
