I took my sunset conure for the first time yesterday and I have no issues. Staff was friendly and they handled my conure with care. He was very calm and didn’t get aggravated throughout the session. It was his first time getting his nails trimmed and I’ll be going back as soon as they get long again! It was $14 for the nail trim.Since it is the first time I take him to get his nails trimmed, he has been having issues climbing, balancing and walking around his jungle gym. I’m sure he just needs to get used to it. I’m not sure if it bothers him. Like I said, it’s my first time getting his nails trimmed. I didn’t know what to expect.
I took my bird for a nail, beak and wing trim and I don’t feel satisfied with the service. The ladies were nice however one of her blood feathers was injured and her nails were a bit short and squared for her to perch on. I took her for many years to the store in Lake Forest where we initially purchased her. I never had a problem like this. Today I went to the Brea store to give them a try since we recently moved closer to Brea. I think the store in Lake Forest is better when it comes to wing clipping and nail trimming. She keeps pecking at her blood feather and acts unsure when climbing
I love parrots especially budgies tho they didnt have budgies or smaller parrots when I visited. There were many medium and large parrots on their stands that could be interacted with, there was a poor plucked umbrella cockatoo who hopefully is being cared well by the store, they liked bouncing up and down. The toys and food here are reasonably priced and there are many good cages.I was confused by the entrance since the lot is small. No bathroom. Please respect the parrots space, as I saw children being a bit excited about touching the birds. If the birds dont want to perch or be pet, give them space or theyll get nervous and bite.
Really nice staff, educated & patient. Birds are amazing! Took my daughter there to look for a buddy to bring home for her parakeet & she quickly fell in love with multiple birds. The cutest thing ever was how demanding some of the birds could be, guiding your hand close to them so that they could step up. Enjoyed our visit. I was also presently surprised by the cleanliness, it smelled fresh & was well kept.

Loved this place. I love that they have the birds just out and about to interact with the customers. Thats really cool!!The waiting list is a trip. I was not expecting that.The prices are way crazy. But hey it is what it is. I guess if youre going to pay in thousands for a bird 🐦the least it could would be to talk

This is the place to stop by if you are interested in Exotic birds. They have mature birds that are on perches outside of cages. Customers are permitted to allow birds to stand on their arms. The birds are comfortable with humans. The birds are not cheap. But, they are long lived. They come in an array of sizes and colors. The colors are vivid, astounding.The employees are knowledgeable and helpful. They can suggest the appropriate bird and match that with the experience of the prospective owner. There is an entire wall where the customer can select assorted feed for different birds by the pound.
We drove an hour address not updated on websiteWe were lost for half hour then we called the female employee told us the new address however she neglected to tell us that she was closing in 2 minutes she gave us the right address so we drive another few mile when we reached she said she is closed. She should’ve told us they were closing in 5 minutesThier normal closing is 6 o’clock according to website we reached 5 o’clock but she was closing early. We also asked if she had certain birds but didn’t care to talk to us........Bad customer service

I don’t know if the guy working was the owner or just an employee, but he was very rude and unfriendly. I was in and out of the store in less than 3 minutes. He is definitely not the kind of person that should be running a pet store.

This place is fun and helpful.I came here to get stuff for my new cockatiel, and the staff were very helpful.The birds were beautiful and mostly hand tamed.The umbrella cockatoo even said “hello” to me, which was surprising but very funny and impressive!They have most of the birds outside of their cages sitting on stands.Since there are usually new birds every time I come, it’s really fun to go around the store and play with them for a while! I recommend this place to anyone who is looking to buy a bird or already has a bird.

Excellent selection of toys and food, and all the birds are very tame and happy. They are also confident in grooming my rescue cockatiel who is still untamed and very afraid of people and hands. they can also special order almost anything at a discount compared to big box pet stores.
The birds: This is how all bird should be treated. Theyre surrounded by love, constantly socialized, well-groomed and well-fed.The feed: ample options for different sizes and breeds, lots of snacks to choose from.The supplies: cages of all sizes (macaws, finches, carriers, and careless stands -metal and wood). Lots and lots of toys of all textures and materials -on the pricier side but quality items. Lots of feeding cups and stands.Price: you get what you pay for. Pricier than your typical pet store but what you get in return is experienced handlers, a very clean store, well-mannered birds, and fresh feed.I love coming here. They also offer bird grooming and boarding.
So cool the way they have large bird displayed cage-free in the middle of the store. Great prices and a variety of toys not found at every place.
They have very healthy and beautiful birds i think a little pricey but its well worth it.

Very helpful staff. Found everything I came in for right away. Able to buy some food items by weight, so i could try it before committing to a larger quantity of parrot food. Priced per pound but you can purchase more or less than a pound. Help yourself dispensers

I’ve been a customer at Omar’s for over 8 years. I prefer the location in Lake Forrest over this one and its way further out of my way.They do not handle parrots gently while grooming. The employees were incredibly rude. The middle aged male is very passive aggressive, and the woman with black hair that held my bird while grooming literally threw my parrot in her cage, completely missed and let her crash into the ground and then left her on the ground and watched me walk around their store counter to pick her up myself. Super lame place.

Clean bird store, much better than another one. Unassuming tiny strip mall. They have more selection of birds than use to be in a past. Always good to check your purchased bird with veterinarian right away.
So much fun to play with the birds, who are on open perches. The birds seem to genuinely like interacting with people. This would be a good place to buy a bird because they are used to socializing with people.

This is my nephews and nieces favorite place to visit. I bring them here to learn about parrots and the amount of care involved ever time they whine about having a pet. The staff are very polite and knowledgeable with patience in answering never ending questions from my 8 yr old nephew.

Love Omars however, I took my bird in for grooming and the sign on the door stated only 10 people in the store at a time. I walked in and there were approx 20 people in the store. Kids were running around with their masks pulled down, store employee came my way as I was social distancing in line and stopped right next to me, rubbing my side...i moved away then more people entered the store. The employees were overwhelmed with helping customers ..... phone calls, grooming, cash register, etc...and were not paying any attention to what was happening in the store. what is really disturbing is the lack of hand sanitizer. Multiple people picking up birds, next person, then the next....YIKES! Very disappointing . If you are an at risk person, stay away from Omars

Friendly staff. I love the birds here. They are well taken care of and very energetic and playful. Birds are low-key expensive though. I have seen the same breeds cheaper elsewhere.
I drive almost a hour to get my parrot groomed here and its well worth it. Done well my parrot gets less stressed then the places local to me. They also have a great selection of toys and foods.
This is a great shop for getting a bird from. If you buy a bird from them, you do get a lifetime of free grooming for that bird. They take great care of the birds and keep them all out in the sales floor so they develop social skills and have plenty of room to move around. The only reason that this is a four star review instead of five stars, is because the staff arent too helpful with specific questions about individual species. They can usually only answer some behavioural questions and almost no health questions.
THEIR BIRDS ARE ALL HAPPY CAMPERS ! THEYRE BEAUTIFUL, & MOST OF EM VERY SOCIABLE. WIDE VARIETY OF BIRD FOOD, TREATS, TOYS, & MORE. THEY DO BIRD GROOMING TOO. (A little pricey, but if you cant do it yourself, then gladly pay up.) DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

Great place. Beautiful birds. Ive been a customer for 8 years.The salesman last week was unfriendly and acted like I was bothering him. Usually the gals there are very helpful. It was Not my usual experience there.
They always have lots of birds that are very receptive to people. Most of the birds in the store are already sold, so if you want to get a bird you have to leave a $100 deposit to reserve a bird for when the new babies come. The staff is friendly and can give you lots of information if you ask them about the birds. Even though the birds in display are already sold, you can always go in and play with the dozens of birds spread around the store.

I have going to Omars longer than I can remember. The have a great selection of birds to see and the worlds best parrot premium blend food. The service is always good. Easy in and out parking too.
This place is awesome. Always a fun visit since they always have a rotation of different birds out on the floor. We get our cockatiel groomed here for $12 for the whole package. We think its a fair price since they take care to handle your pet carefully and with care.

The people here really know what theyre doing. They treat the birds here well and they are all healthy. They have a great purchase agreement that includes lifetime bird grooming for any bird bought from them! The food here is well priced as well.
TREVOR is HORRIBLE! Not only does he talk down to people, he hurt my cockatiel. While trimming him, Trevor somehow let him loose. My poor bird hit the window twice and Trevor sarcastically told me, Well you dont have to freak out. I dont have to freak out?!!! My bird just hit the window twice and now is probably injured because he is unprofessional! The other customers were way more concerned than he was, knowing that hitting a window could kill them. In my hurry to put my recaptured bird back in his cage, I broke off the door spring which Trevor immediately tried to blame for the bird getting loose. If my bird does not recover, I will be talking to Omar. Omar never should have let Connor go. Connor was the epitome of professional bird and customer care. I will be learning how to cut my birds nails myself. Will not be going back until Trevor no longer works there.
Bird people are special. The employees are friendly. They trim my bird quickly, so as not to stress him. Very much appreciated! Beautiful birds selection. If your looking for a long term pet, these are the birds you should consider.

This is a really fun place to visit even if youre not planning on picking up a bird. You get an opportunity to socialize with some of the larger birds hanging out in the center of the store. The staff are friendly and give you plenty of space while you meet their birds. Such a unique place!
The place has beautiful birds that look well taken care of. My little one loves birds so we figured we would take her to go and see some. The guy working there was really rude and didnt seem too enthusiastic on making a sell or educating us on the different types of birds he reccommend for a family and which ones are docile. A nice girl was there spending time with the bird she just purchased and she seemed to be more helpful in letting our daughters hold them and see which ones they like. This place is nice, but the worker that was there looked as though he hated his job. He makes the place look bad.
It was a good place for exotic birds as they are well treated and well fed, the birds are allowed to walk anywhere and they dont fly or walk off from the store because they are trained not to. Another good thing about this shop is you can hold the birds and play with them. 5/5 for every aspect possible.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this store. My baby is always so happy to see me come in with the bag becasue she knows its going to be something fun for her cage or yummy for her tummy. The staff is incredibly attentive and take their time explaining things.

Omar’s is such a nice family friendly place! I’m been to the one in Lake Forest and it isn’t quite as clean as this one, people come to sweep every 10 minutes! The staff is really friendly and helpful. The food here is at such low prices it’s amazing! All the birds are well socialized some are grouchy but that doesn’t change my opinion. I love how they are all on stands not locked up in cages for the entire day. I would get a bird here in the future!

What a fun shop! Had a blast visiting the birdies, my first experience getting up close and personal with these beautiful birds.
Well, today I went to Omars to get seed and I was surprised by the rest of my time there and it wasnt a good surprise. The safflower seeds I always get were dark in color including the actual seed. It also had lots of what appeared to be rocks or pieces of gravel???? I am going to feel safe about giving this to my Grey???? I had to sort through the seeds before I reluctantly purchased some. Also, I noticed that the bins that hold the seed are very dusty. Cant pick up a duster to clean. Smeared poops on the floor in multiple places. The few birds they had did NOT look happy AT ALL. Some were tucked in as if they didnt feel good, (this was in the morning too) The others did not look very interactive or friendly. The store looked in disarray and not very clean. I found out that Connor was no longer manager. I dont think I will return to this location again. Just did not feel clean and healthy at all. The birds water was also not clean and it was cloudy. I wouldnt drink it if I was a bird. Yuk!

This is the place to go if you ever want to know ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING about birds. The staff is friendly and knowledgable, Its the place you can have a hands on experience to see if youd like to own a bird, or just get your bird fix until your ready or able to own. Prices are excellent, high quality breeders/breeds, and merchandise. Check it out, at the very least an interesting experience.

It was relatively busy when I walked in, but Conner was great about helping everybody in the store out. He gave me a lot of great information, and I walked out with two parakeets to give my one at home some company. My parakeet is very happy about her two new friends.The starter pack that come with the bird is a lot of stuff. Im very happy about my purchase.
Small store that had a very knowledgeable staff.Anything you need for your exotic bird they have it here.I used to go to PetSmart for my needs but after finding Omars I wouldnt go any place else.I have friends that drive close to 40 miles just to get there Bird food here.

I highly recommend coming here!Reading previous reviews I wasnt expecting much help from this location. I was extremely surprised by the service! Everything from a hello when walking in to periodic checks to see if I had questions. Conner had fantastic customer service, very knowledgeable, and helpful in my selection without being too pushy. I think I was there for a few hours and he never stopped checking in on me while juggling his other customers. He also wanted to make sure the bird was a match for me and I had everything I needed, including a pros and cons list. He even included my new lorikeets favorite cage toy! Thank you so much for your help and I will definitely be back. I completely blame you for my new family member :P
This store is very clean, organized and well stocked. I just wished the staff greeted everyone that walked in. Walking in with our birds in hand for grooming, which was obvious. No one said Hi, or can I help you. We were there for a good 3 to 4 mins and all 4 of the workers had made eye contact with us but turned away without saying anything. Finally, someone asked if we were there for grooming? I said yes and they said we were next. My husband said finally someone acknowledged us, I just gave him a smirk agreeing with him. We also noticed the prices were dramatically raised or were much more expensive than the Santa monica store (now closed). Because of that we did not buy as much as we usually do and decided to make our own treats, etc. This store does have birds on pirches but they do not list what kind of birds they are or how much they are. This is very helpful if you are looking into purchasing a bird with a store full of a cutomers and all the associates are busy. I am sure theres a reason why they dont do it at this store but it would benefit everyone if they did. I have always referred everyone to Omars when they ask about my birds, I think I might have to think about that one based on my experience. I will visit again soon and hopefully there will be a better outcome.
Excellent knowledge of a variety of birds. Nice selection on bird needs they sell birds also prices are high but worth it if you ask me. Birds are hand raised which makes birds a great pet.

Very clean shop. Toys are a bit pricey, but this is one of the few shops I could find in Orange County that has a bigger selection of toys for your friends so theres really not much you can do. Overall, customer service is good, animals are well kept, you get what you paid for thats for sure.
Very helpful staff member, she told me about the availability for caiques and even charged a cheaper price for the grooming of my two cockatiels. They have a huge selection of birds here and they’re all little babies and hand raised! Grooming was quick as well, but keep in mind they start at 11AM and not their opening time, 10AM.
