I felt at first CarMax was not interested in selling me a car. I had to suggest that I was going to another place where I felt I was wanted in order to get the ball rolling. I realize not everyone is serious about dealing for a new car but you need to understand that some people are not pushy enough to get things done when someone is dragging their feet and seemingly not interested in making a deal.
We were really in a bind, trying to get a car. Carmax made an otherwise stressful situation, enjoyable. It was convenient to shop both online and in person. Many, many choices were available, and absolutely NO PRESSURE! Then our trade-in, they made it effortless to resolve all our needs. Definitely will recommend them!!!

Be aware if you have their maxcare and then sell your car to them. They will not tell you that in order to get your refund you have to cancel the policy instead of it being canceled when you sell it. Another dealership noticed it and when I called they admitted they owed us more money than they paid us😡
The buying process is not rushed with no nonsense. The sales team go above and beyond to find something within budget that youre happy with. I have even sold a vehicle and that process was extremely fast as well.I gave 4 stars because some of the vehicles have minor scratches, scrapes and smells that really should be taken of before being resold. Thats my only issue.
My wife and I agree that buying her new car (new to her) at CarMax was the best experience we have ever had when buying a vehicle. Being able to look at the great variety of cars without a sales person tagging along was great. We would recommend CarMax to anyone looking to buy a good used car.

This place was amazing and so easy to find just there right vehicle for me. However I noticed the CarPlay audio wasn’t working and it’s been in the shop for almost two weeks so I was only able to drive it for 2 days. The waiting game is no fun.
HUGE WASTE OF TIME. I wanted to sell my vehicle so I completed their online appraisal. I answered all questions accurately and honestly. Once I received the offer I actually called the following day to discuss my vehicle and make sure their offer was legitimate before I took off work to make the 3 + hour trip. I told the guy on the phone that the van had a wrap and custom shelving. He said the wrap shouldnt be a big deal and the shelves may actually add value. So I felt good about making the trip.When I arrived for my appointment, the offer was reduced by over $5,000!!! My vehicle is a one owner, with a clean Carfax, only 9,000 mi, and it is in nearly perfect condition. They graded it and gave it the highest score in all areas. They really did not give me a full explanation why the offer was reduced so heavily, other than the fact the van had shelving and a professional wrap installed ... which I verified could be professionally removed for $200.I was fully prepared for a deduction, even up to $500-$600 might have been acceptable but not $5200!! So I wasted a day, put more miles on the vehicle, and had additional fuel costs. They even told me that if I paid to remove the wrap myself and brought the vehicle back they still could guarantee the original offer would be valid!What a scam. Needless to say, Im not a satisfied customer and will not be back.
Bought cars at other dealerships in the past but after my experience at CarMax, they have earned my business with my future needs. No pressure, great prices and you walk away actually feeling that you were treated with respect. Great place to buy a car or truck as in my case.

My total experience with CarMax was positive. It was the smoothest transition Ive ever had with a dealer. The personnel were professional, friendly, and totally transparent about costs.
I visited Carmax twice, on two Saturdays one week apart. My first experience left much to be desired. The salesperson we drew for our appointment was not overly concerned about the needs presented by my visit, and as it turned out on my second visit, actually withheld information that would have allowed me to complete all necessary transactions with a single trip. As it was, I was not informed that we could have a replacement title printed on premises for a fee (which I would have happily paid), and her entire demeaner gave me the impression that she was doing me a favor just by speaking with me in the first place. I live over an hour drive from the Bristol store and ended up making two trips in a single day, then again on the next Saturday to complete my business, dragging my family along for the ride. Luckily, the second Saturday, you had a young lady who was kind, considerate, and apologetic for the previous weeks individual. I didnt expect her to apologize, but her consideration was appreciated. And she made the trip and my business run smoothly, efficiently, and quickly. Thanks solely to her, CarMax may have my business again in the future should the need arise.
Carmax was an excellent experience all around! After spending hours at a few other car lots, it was like night and day to experience the difference at Carmax. They were very busy, but efficient. I was able to sell my car, get financing, test drive a few cars, and buy my new car within a few hours. They were straight dealing and even washed my new car and put a bow on it! Loved the whole experience!

I was very pleased with the purchase of my Nissan Rogue. Skylar was exemplary in her service! I went with an idea in mind, but she showed us some other options which worked much better for my needs. This is the second time I have purchased a car from CarMax and would do it again because it is a no haggle, no hassle experience. The only negative was I would like a different date for my payment that better suits my needs, but will work with finance on that.
This was my third purchase from CarMax, the other two were great. This one was terrible! I had made an online appointment which didnt show up on their end even though I had confirmed on my end. Took the car for 24 hour test drive and got my own financing, went back at next day appointment time. Well I wasnt down for that day either. They did find someone to work with me but it took them 4 hours to do the paperwork on a car with me check in hand. But they acted like they didnt know how to proceed with selling me the car. It was absolutely terrible, will not be returning there.
After years of searching and having several horrible experiences with local dealerships, we finally found a car that had all the options we wanted, low mileage, and within our price range. But because the need for the vehicle was immediate whereas it had not been before when we were looking, we had gotten very lucky. The crossover was located in Hickory, NC. It would cost us nothing to have it brought to Bristol. We had pre-approval prior to test driving. We are happy with our purchase.

Honestly couldn’t have asked for a better car buying experience. Looked at a VW Atlas there and the guy was super helpful. Got one shipped in and purchased and took it home the same day. Left with tags and registration. They cleaned the car up very well and installed the front tag bracket. Paper work was a breeze and every employee was amazing.

I recently purchased a vehicle from this location and I was sold a lemon from this location better yet I was duped out my money and transportation they let me drive off the lot in death trap that wasn’t fit for the road I keep calling them to only be given no resolution to my problem and they don’t care about me or the fact that they didn’t do the job that they were supposed to do before allowing me to leave the lot which was their famous 120 point Inspection do not get your vehicle from this location

I appreciate how easy it was to trade in my car and purchase a new vehicle. Everyone was nice. However, I was very disappointed to find out that this CarMax did a terrible job inspecting the vehicle before selling. Literally within a day of purchasing a Subaru I noticed coolant leaking. I open the hood to find that the hose that connects the coolant to the radiator did not have a hose clamp and the hose was basically coming off and leaking coolant. This could have been much worse if I hadnt of noticed so early on. Secondly, there was a major issue with the gas tank. I was unable to pump gas for more than 5 seconds at a time. I tried different gas stations, holding it at different angles...everything. I test drove the vehicle with half a tank of gas and upon purchase it had a full tank so I know an employee filled this tank up and it would have been impossible not to notice this problem. I took the car to a different CarMax in Murfreesboro TN to get it looked at and they replaced a part in the gas tank for me. I really hope that the Bristol TN CarMax will look into their employees in the service department so that others do not have this same experience.

We completed the online form to get a quote for selling our car prior to going. We scheduled an appointment after receiving our online quote at that time (which was almost 4 times more than another site we were considering selling to). We arrived to our appointment and were seated within 5 minutes. The associate took extra measures in cleaning the area we were at for Covid. She used our quote number to pull up everything. We went outside to take pictures. Came back inside. Within 10 minutes, the quote was approved. We had the check in hand in around 45 minutes (from start to finish). It was so easy. No hassle or haggling. I would definitely recommend this process to anyone looking to sell their car.

We picked up the car September 19th. When we were driving home, a light came on concerning emissions. You have had the car since Thursday of that week and we have not heard a word from you at all concerning this car. Poor service. Poor communication. MP

Found the truck I wanted and paid $99 to get it brought into town, dropped by for the test drive and walked out with the keys. Sorry for the local guys, they need to drop the game. When you go to purchase an car it should be the most excited experience for you. But not for us the person we had to help us didn’t greet us had an nasty attitude didn’t even ask our name she only asked you ain’t from here we said “NO” and that’s was it an said pop your hood on your trade in. My husband went to the manager to ask for another sales rep and that manager raised his voice at my husband then my husband had to raise his voice also, and that is when we got another sales rep who was awesome. This was our 3rd car with CarMax and hadn’t experienced this type of behavior before but I will say this if you ain’t a people person don’t get into this type of job.
I am very pleased with the efficiency of every one at CarMax in the trade and purchase process. I love the new vehicle and I will be a CarMax customer for life!

I showed up, paid my down payment, and signed what documents needed signed and I was on my way in a new car. I love my 2020 Hyundai Accent, it only had 1,400 miles when I purchased it. It’s still unbelievable how fast and painless the whole process was, I’m very happy I chose Carmax! I will definitely be going back for future vehicles!

It was so easy to get the car I wanted I searched for it found it. Paid $99 to have it transferred to the store closest to me went in for a test drive. Signed the papers and was on my way with the car of my choice. No other car lot has done that it’s always been I can’t put you in that one I can this one and so on. Very pleasant experience. I started my car buying process online continued with texting and along with phone conversations and finally in store to button everything up and to go over and sign the paperwork. The process was very smooth, I was very surprised It was nothing like going to a regular dealer. You can find the exact vehicle you want online and have it delivered to the nearest dealer if the dealer does not have it on the lot your shopping. thought i would be there for hours if it was not for the test driving, looking at the car and talking it probably would not even took the time that we were there. I had my vehicle shipped to the dealer was told it could take up to 15 days but only took a couple days so that was impressive. Im not one for the whole mask thing but I can say they were very respectful in that aspect sanitizing the vehicle every time someone was in it along with the desks, chairs and electronics that anyone may touch. I really dont have anything negative to say about carmax.

The experience for the most was very nice! We found the car my son wanted and paid to have it shipped to us. Upon test drive which was scheduled at my convenience we noticed some damage done to the windows. They were very nice and agreed to fix the damage and said it should have been done before the test drive. We paid a fee to have it shipped and they said they would refund that as well which so far they haven’t. We have an appt with safelight to be fixed so hopefully that will get done soon. Sales lady was very nice and quick. All and all a good process
Never had a negative experience here. Have purchased 2 vehicles from Carmax, and now looking for my third. I refuse to car shop anywhere else.
First, I will say I am 100% satisfied with the vehicle that I purchased. However, the process leading up to and my visit to the Bristol, TN store the day of purchase were quite disappointing. I selected a vehicle from another store that would need to be transferred to my local store. I made the request online and the next morning I received a call from a representative to help me in completing some information, along with obtaining my financing. After spending near an hour with this person on the phone and securing the financing option, I was told the next step in my purchase would be the appraisal of my trade-in, which I would soon receive a link to do myself and submit. As promised, I received the link to submit my vehicles information and photos, which took roughly about 30 minutes to complete. I had also been advised that it could take up to 14 days for my new vehicle to arrive at my local store. So, I proceeded to send in the trade in appraisal, which was returned quickly with a satisfactory offer for my car and I approved. Now I wait... 9 days later my car had arrived. I scheduled the appointment to go to the store and make the trade. From the call I had had with the representative, I was expecting that I would be at the dealership around an hour to an hour and a half. This turned into an almost 4 hour visit that was not pleasant! Not only did EVERYTHING I had previously done over the phone and online to “help” expedite the process have to be re-done when I got there, I also worked with an agent that was brand new to his role at the dealership. Now, he was a great person to work with, but he struggled greatly with getting me through the process and all the required paperwork with little to no help from his leadership or management. In fact, I observed the manager watching him struggle with helping me and never once offered to come over and help. Not for the sake of his employee or the customer was he concerned. Obviously, this was an extremely frustrating experience for both myself and the employee! When I finally got everything completed, I wasn’t even provided a copy of all my documents for the purchase because the printer had gone down! I’m sure the poor employee was just as frustrated as myself and wanted to try to get me out of there! I was supposed to receive everything by email the next day. Three days later I had to make a follow up call in order to get this task completed.
I had such a great experience I bought two cars in one week from them! I knew what I wanted and I looked at area dealerships and even perused another online car shopping company as well, but the cars I wanted were both available at Carmax. One was on the lot and I paid $99 to ship one from Chattanooga to Bristol so I could test drive it and I was not disappointed. I knew the moment I got in, it was the car I wanted. I truly appreciate the no-haggling prices and its such a refreshing experience compared to the traditional dealership fiascos of my past. I appreciated the friendly and helpful sales team and was amazed to learn they have their own mini DMV and I was able to pay my state sales tax, transfer my tags and renew my vehicle registration all at the same time I bought the cars. Paperwork processes fast as Ive already received the title.to the first car I bought. Huge CarMax fan here. Ill be back!
