The very best place to buy an acoustic or electric piano. Beautiful showrooms for stringed instruments and brass. At this time, they no longer have a massive inventory of electric guitars and amplifiers; they do have a few beginner acoustic guitars and a selection of ukuleles. The best sales & support staff -- you wont find better people anywhere else in the Twin Cities. Overall, Schmitt has been a mainstay in this area and the reasons why become obvious the moment you walk in the door.

I owe these folks a few positive reviews. I played piano as a kid, took 40 years off and started playing again. A few years back, for a retirement gift, I bought myself a Kawai CA95 digital piano - love it. Sue Freeman Dopp helped me find just what I wanted at a great value. Been playing ever since.I also played alto sax in school, took 50+ years off on that one and bought myself a nice used Yamaha. Took it to the Brooklyn Center repair center a couple of times for adjustment which they did on the spot. Great service, nice folks.If you played when you were younger, but dont play now, go see the folks at Schmitt and give it a try again. Or, if youre lucky enough to be young now - I still recommend them.

This place was so great I had to write my first review! I’m a cellist and I was looking for a hard case since I’m going to be traveling soon, I honestly went in not knowing much and left with an awesome high quality case that I know will last me a very long time. I specifically want to thank the violin shop worker Marinos, he was genuinely so nice and helpful and made the process 10x easier than I expected it to be. I will definitely be returning if I ever need a repair or tune up.

I just recently bought an alto flute. I absolutely love it they let me bring it home free for 7 days by the time the 5th day rolled around i knew I wanted it. Bianca Najera was amazing she knew everything about flutes. She answered my questions and was so sweet. I wouldnt have even known where to begin with buying an alto flute without her help. We took my sisters clarinet into the repair shop to get looked at the man who looked at it was super nice! He looked at it and fixed whatever was wrong with it in less than 10 minutes. Definitely did a good job because now it plays better than it ever has before!

Dr. Rachel was most helpful in our flute purchase. She pointed out some of the subtle differences in the intermediate flutes. When it came time to purchase I was very pleased with the communication she made when our instrument was not available right away. Overall, a great place to buy a flute and expert advice to help make the best choice.

The staff here are wonderful! They have extra precautions to protect everyones health that far exceed most retail locations. And they were willing to answer all our questions on a variety of music related topics and instruments. They even called other locations to help us find what we were looking for.

Ive bought an alto sax, bought a bari sax, and sold a trumpet here over the last few years. Every time, the salespeople have been incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this place!While it hopefully wont be applicable much longer, theyre also taking all the necessary precautions for COVID-19. Theyre doing temperature checks at the door and requiring masks for everyone inside the store. While you can no longer try instruments in the store (which is certainly a bummer), you can take home a few instruments at a time to try them. Still an excellent experience despite the circumstances.

Awhile back, I brought my tenor sax in for re-padding and repairs. The suggestions were reasonable and the work was done well. Yesterday, I went in to buy a clarinet. It was an easy process, especially since I had an idea of what I wanted. The payment plan with no interest charged is helpful and I was out of the store within about 20 minutes.

We started renting our childrens instruments from Schmitt in 2015. One child played cello & the other continues to play violin. Schmitt made the process easy & stress free. The associates explain options for purchase and rent so you can understand your choices. Each associate knows their music stuff, and if they dont, they will get someone to help you who does. They have been great when we needed to upgrade instrument sizes, repairs, and tuning. Highly recommend!

We are new to the middle school band world. Renting an instrument through Schmitt was the easiest, low stress experience which as a busy mom of 3, I truly appreciated. I was able to easily select what we needed online and within days it arrived to my house. I had a question about my order and a staff member was able to clearly explain everything to me over the phone. I was also very impressed with how the rental process works. We paid a down payment and now we dont pay anything for a few months. Eventually after a set number of months of renting, we end up owning the instrument, with the option to return at any time! Truly impressed.

I got a beautiful consignment piano that I am very pleased with. The salesperson showed me exactly the pianos in my price range and was very knowledgable. Delivery people were great too. Im very happy with the experience.

I went in to get a clarinet for my husband, with my two children. My son also wanted to fix the leaks on his saxophone, we came in and got great service and found a used clarinet for a great price! Then we went to see if they could fix my sons saxophone, and the guy was great! He did the repairs right then and there in 30 minutes! I recommend going to this place, they have great service and great instruments.

I came in this week with one of my students to rent a viola from the string shop and it could not have been a better experience, from the customer service to the instrument selection and rental options! Its great to see so many instruments and cases on display, the show room is beautiful and I love that the luthiers are in the shop working on instruments. The customer service here is excellent, we were greeted when we walked in and shown to the string shop. The different viola makes and models as well as the rental agreement were explained very clearly. I enjoyed the the process of being able to try out 6 or so different violas and several bows to find just the right fit. The fact that a brand new case, shoulder rest, and rosin come with the viola and bow just makes everything so simple to rent -not having to purchase the accessories separately makes the entire process easy. We were in and out within an hour and never felt rushed or pressured to choose anything out of our price range. I am looking forward to lessons with my very happy and excited student, and hope to send many future students here for their instrument selection!

They had several models to try and we found a wonderful new flute that sounds even better than his previous one. I appreciate the time they took to understand our needs.

Theyve had a strong reputation for the 4 decades Ive known them. Walk in, you wont go wrong. I was buying a replacement professional level C-TRUMPET from Schmitt... Laura Saylor was amazing!!! She had solid opinions about horns, sounds and tuning (not just a typical salespersons whichever one you like best). She genuinely made the process pleasant (even bringing in extra trumpets for me to try!) and after 6 weeks of playing the new horn, I know that she helped me to make an excellent decision (trumpets are expensive and I didnt want to make a mistake). At the end of it all, I feel that Ive made a friend, and would STRONGLY recommend Laura to anyone looking for a trumpet. A+

We rent a flute from Schmitt Music in Brooklyn Center and my daughter takes flute lessons here. Highly recommend both services. Staff are always helpful and friendly and the lessons are quality. The instrument insurance has been a lifesaver a few times for us, including full replacement of a broken flute!

We had a rent to own cello and had to upgrade to full size, as our son has gotten older and bigger. The only thing we were not happy about is the soft case that came with the new one was not the best quality and they didnt even have any options to purchase a different one, except for a hard case. I guess we will find a case at another store.

We are long-time customers of Schmitt, and for a reason. They put the customer first. From music lessons, to other music opportunities, to purchasing, I have made life-long friends with some of the Schmitt employees. The owners are also known to donate to youth programs as well, for which we are very grateful.

Rented a piano for my wedding from another music store, but once the musician opened the bag, discovered the pedal was nowhere to be found. The musician did not want to trouble me on my wedding day and thinking I rented from Schmidtt called them looking for a pedal. Mike F. The manager said he didnt think the rental didnt come from us, but was still willing to help. He loaned us the pedal and we had another friend go pick it up. Mikes generosity to help in a tight pinch did not go unnoticed. I returned the pedal the next day, and he didnt charge me anything for the pedal and just offered a congratulations! Looking to upgrade an instrument we bought for my daughter from this company years ago. We called ahead to make sure they had The instrument we sought before making the hour drive to the store. Got there to learn they do not have what we need and it would take at least two weeks before the store had it (and we had to make the drive again to pick it up). We tried to make this trip worthwhile by discussing the financial side of the upgrade but could not get a clear answer regarding the cost of what we were buying or what the potential value of the current instrument would be in regards to trade. We were not even given an opportunity to try out the upgraded instrument nor the various mouthpieces available for that instrument to be sure it was the correct instrument for my daughter. Complete waste of time because they misrepresented what they had via phone and then the people working made no effort to address issues that could be addressed.I know selling items that cost thousands of dollars can make salespeople numb to the sizable financial commitments customers make day after day but that knowledge does not make committing to buying easier. It would be nice to feel as though the people selling understood how big a purchase this is and help educate me so I can be comfortable I’m buying the right item. Unfortunately, I’m left a bit salty after a wasted Sunday afternoon and left questioning if I can trust buying from these people.

We bought a new flute and trombone for our kids at a sales event. While there was an initial miscommunication about one of the instruments, the way the people at Schmitt made things right is something we rarely see today. They worked to make sure we were more than fully satisfied. We were.

Its worth coming from all the way in Saint Paul, MN. I am deeply satisfied with the service and customer service, its truly been a blessing. I can come as I please as they have long hours, can help you quick but thorough they have anything you can think of from real books to organs. I really enjoy the affordable equipment, I buy many reeds and cleaning supply and other things. Oh and dont get me started about the sax shop, Adam DuVall is soooo great, hes knowledgeable, knows his saxes, and can help you find the perfect saxophone for you at the price rang your looking for. Its incredible to be able to try out all the instruments from really expensive to professional to vintage to student models!!!! The employee is GREAT, PATIENT, AND KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. I believe it is a great thing how Schmitt cares about the up and coming musicians (YOUTH) they have a fabulous student program and financial aid!!!
