My car was dripping dark transmission fluid. Could be a broken axle seal, said my long-time trusted mechanic, but we dont do transmissions. So I took my car to Active Transmission and Gear. Diagnosis: transmission overhaul, $3,800, 3 days work. I got a second opinion from Accountable Auto Care, two blocks away. Diagnosis: broken axle seal, transmission fluid should be flushed/replaced, $700, few hours work. Accountable Auto did the work, and 6 weeks later my car runs well, no drip. Active Transmissions diagnosis may have been honest or dishonest, but either way my car did not need $3,800 of work.

Top notch business. Everyone is friendly and professional. The only place to go in Denver for automotive services. I wont go anywhere else for automotive care.

Do NOT bring a Volkswagen here. Started having issues with replacement transmission a week after it was installed. Fast forward a few weeks and I bring it to them telling them what it is doing and giving them ideas on how to fix it. It is under warranty but ended up being very low on their to do list because 7 weeks later it’s still parked in the same spot with no time frame for when it will be repaired and nothing but excuses.

Leonard and his whole shop are just great people. I have multiple plow trucks and plowing is hard on transmissions. Two times, Leonard has put a new transmission in a truck same day to get me back in action. He is always willing to help me troubleshoot and solve my own problems as well. I just feel great doing business with them.

Warning transmission shop is a fraud Had them replaced my transmission and my truck lasted a little over a year took it back to have Replace it under warranty got it back less than a 100 miles of driving and the transmission is burnt and they refuse to take any responsibility and are yelling and cursing at me Is extremely unprofessional the worst Ive ever experienced .Do not take your vehicle there unless you want to be ripped off.

My Jeep needed a new clutch, they gave me a fair price and even found and replaced some parts I didn’t know were bad. They worked with me on payments and really seem to care about their customers. I was recommended this place by a friend and I’ll recommend them as well.

Active Transmission listened to what we needed and didnt try to sell us more than what we asked for. They went above and beyond to provide us the best service possible. We took our truck in the morning and picked it up that evening. My husband and I highly recommend Active Transmission and Gears. We will definitely be coming back to these guys in the future!

These guys are the best. The put cam in my 2011 dodge ram which is a tough job but they stuck with it and went above and beyond the call of duty to get it right. I took in my 1994 Chevy 3500 work truck for a transmission. Got a rebuilt at a fair price and it didnt work well after 2 days. Took it back, they replaced it, no questions. 22 months later it went bad again. 24 month warrant, they replaced it, no issues, just replaced it. They held up their bargain better than I expected. Ive been back since for more work. Ill be back if needed. Thanks Leonard.

I have dropped off a few different cars probably 5-6 times over the last 6-10 years for problems I could not fix or diagnose myself and have always had good service. I would not consider myself a regular customer due to infrequent visits but this has never affected the way I was treated. The communication from Leonard has been great and costs have come in at or under what was expected and I can not recall any times where the car took longer to get to than estimated. I would recommend this shop for mechanical work.

My family and I have used this shop for years. They do great work, but mostly when they diagnose an issue I know I can actually TRUST what they are telling me. They are not just limited to transmissions, and have taken care of just about anything I have.

Second update. Car is in the shop again getting a second rebuild by a reputable shop from what they blame was a incompetent attempt at a rebuild. They are not blaming anything we did like the owner of this shop did. They say it was just bad work. Out more money but at least the car will work now.Had them rebuild a automatic transmission that we brought them after pulling it ourselves. Took the car in for warranty work since it was not shifting properly. Took them 28 days just to look at it. They did fix it so it shifts properly now but they charged $400 to install new axle seals. Kind of funny because when the transmission was rebuilt by them they put new seals in it and I know they did since transmission was delivered to them without any seals. Plain and simply put. We got ripped off and run around. I will not recommend this place to anyone and will not be returning.Update. Now they are blaming me for a mistake that they made. Still took 28 days to even look at it and charge for parts that were clearly not the issue. This just proves it pays to bring it to someone who charges more if you want a quality job done that is done correctly.If you read the owners response to my review you will clearly see how they will not want to work with you or provide good costumer service WHEN a problem occurs with the work performed on a vehicle.

Had my truck in for a new clutch and breaks. They said they couldnt get a new clutch to work in there and blamed the new engine fly wheel. Wanted more money to take it apart to find the problem. I went and took my truck back to do the clutch myself with professional assistance. They ended up putting the clutch in backwards.Tried telling them that but they denied it. Also left off the chatter clamps on the breaks. Minor compared to putting in a clutch backwards. Waste of hundreds of dollars.Look elsewhere.

I have brought two vehicles to these guys and they did great both times. The services was done quickly, customer service friendly, and they were willing to stay late for me. I compared prices with a few other shops and they were able to complete the job at a lower price using the same parts. :)

Was recommended to come here after I worried my car needed repairs driving through a tough snowstorm and seeing antifreeze on the ground and my undercarriage hanging off and dragging. Leonard got me in right away and was so nice and courteous. I will definitely bring my car back if I ever have any problems.

Avoid:...After replacing my transmission with a used one, they left sensors and vent tubes unconnected. After taking it back twice, they were able to reconnect, but never correctly connected a crank shaft position sensor; they stretched the wires and it never worked correctly. These guys worked harder at avoiding fixing the problem than just working on the symptoms. Bottom line was they did not have the experience and understanding to fix it correctly. --- Also, the review by leonard is the Leonard that works there!update:...Every time I drive my truck and see that engine light on and I am reminded that the sensor is still messed up from the active transmission. Tried again today but It is very hard to replace. Wish they had connected it correctly the first time......Update ... Leonard said it was a matter of money but this is untrue. They never recognized the problem or offered to fix it for a charge or not.They simply could not read the diagnostics to see the error code ( or they were lying to hide the mistakes). Either way (lying or incompetent) I did not want them to work on my car again.I would gladly pay well for honest work but still stand by original review.

Sure the guys that works here will respond to this post. I gave them the opportunity to fix the issues that I was having with my transmission install before going this route-They kept my truck longer than first promised without informing me that they would need an extension to finish installing the transmission.-Promised to return my call numerous times and didnt-Once I received my truck back the exhaust was in the front seat and not mounted on the truck like I originally gave it to them-My receipt said 12months 12,000miles warranty but he told me over the phone 24months 24,000 for a remanufactured transmission-My transmission is missing the belly (underneath)cover from being installed by them so I can see my fly wheel and tourqe converter-they just never put it on the new transmission (items are exposed to the elements)-They only called me to receive payment not to resolve my issues-They told me what they thought I wanted to hear but just lied time and time again

I called this place and was transferred to a tech named Nick. He was very helpful in ascertaining my transmission needs and even offered to do some research for me on some different transmissions. I am building a street-rod truck and will most likely be having this shop do modifications for me on whatever I buy.

I drive a 2006 Scion tC and began having trouble with the transmission earlier this year... 5th gear kept dropping out, and there was a slight skip into 3rd. Anyway I brought it to Leonard a day or so before Christmas and soon found that I had several problems. Shifter cables, the clutch, flywheel, 5th gear, the 5th gear assembly, and fork all needed replacement. I was disappointed that the problem was bigger than anticipated, but the pros at Active Transmission and Gear identified the problem and helped me fix something I just couldnt do myself. I got a very fair price, and they even stayed late to get it all wrapped up on New Years Eve. At the height of the holiday season, I got a brand new drive-train in just about a weeks time. I would strongly recommend this business to anyone who needs an honest mechanic willing to go the extra mile.

I brought my 04 f-250 in for a new trans and torque converter since then they have had to replace it three times. now..... i need a forth one. wont return calls. says, and i have this on camera that he will not be doing anymore warranties.. when he offers a 3 year 30k mile warranty.. now i cannot move my camper or my boat or my family out of this state.... if i dont receive a reply within a week a small claims will be filed...…never replied..... took my truck to another company and found out forth gear is stuck... the are going to be seeing if there really is a billet bottom end hd converter in as well.. will 100% be taken theses people to court. bad customer service doesnt reply back doesnt call back./ talks about you behind your back. horrible company horrible owner horrible service

AVOID!! AVOID!! ZERO STARSSo here is my horrible experience with these guys. One in particular the part owner Leonard. So it all began a little over a year ago that I talked to Leonard SUPPOSEDLY a good friend of the family well put it this way my dad and I have worked for him and my aunts all take him there vans when the trannys go. I called Leonard up one and told him my car was in need of dire repair the engine was blown so i needed a new engine installed. He said great I can pick it up today (4/13). i said great ill send the tow truck driver with an EXTRA 400$ to get started. For the next year i was told week after week month after month that it would be done by the weekend sorry for the wait. In the process of all this my daughter passed 6/24/13. So in the meantime i kinda put the jetta on the back burners but still occasionally calling Leonard. After a while (10-12 months later all i would get was his voicemail and a couple of texts. I KNOW WHAT YOU GYS ARE THINKING Y HAVENT I WENT AND GOT MY CAR YET RIGHT? He never once told me to come pick it up that he couldnt do it or anything. So about two weeks ago i called leopards VOICEMAIL and said he i need the vehicle if it wasnt done it had been over a year and i was fed up with all the jerking me around stuff. So this is what he text me yeah youre rights its been to long i cant find anybody to actually put the engine in for the price i quoted you nobody wants to work Im having tough time at the shop any help so yeah you want to come pick up the car and your money. WOOOOW!! you think he could have told me that 11 months ago. So i thought to myself you know what you are the bigger person so just go pick up your car and that will be that. so i told Leonard that i would be there the following saturday (memorial day weekend mind you) he texted back great see you then. Saturday comes i texted Leonard (because i know he wont answer my calls as if i did something to him) hey Im on my way he replied holiday weekend out of town forgot about it..............OOkkaayy WTF i think to myself. so i text back is it alright if i pass by next sat (sat are my only available days. He replies okay no problem. SO this past saturday I failed to make it there and woke up sunday morning with a text from Leonard they picked up your car today for no platte code compliance for broomfield heres the number.........you have to call them monday. So i went up there today jun 2 2014 to collect my money and put a voice to all these text messages.I texted leonard Im on my way. Of course when i arrived of course he was not there. So unfortunately i had the pleasure of talking to Gary who had the worst attitude Ive seen since i was in high school and totally treated me like crap from the get go. The minute i started asking where my car was he got an even worse attitude. Asking me why i left the car there so long making me feel like and even bigger idiot then i already felt. So we exchanged a couple of words i cannot post on here. he slammed his hands on his desk like a monkey and proceed to holler and scream at me ( i hollered back). I ended up getting my check for 400 $ back but still NO CAR!! I stopped about a block away from the shop and called Leonard. HE ANSWERED!! I got about to sentences in before he hung up on me.So now i have to pay 200$ to get my car out of the tow yard talk about customer satisfaction!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE AVOID AVOID AVOID AT ALL COST THEY ARE SNAKES!!! This is my name Esequiel Valle and it is in the data base

I took my 2003 Silverado here in June and for $3500 they gave me my truck back even worse off then what I had before. They tore the wires that connect the motor that shifts gear and my truck would not stay in gear. They told me that it was in the shifter, and gave me the keys back. Well the truck would fall into neutral if I went over 20mph and I took it back. They charged me for a new cable for $180 and gave me free labor. The problem continued and I took it back and they said they dont know what was wrong. I tried to get someone to fix it or give me a refund and they would not return my calls, I called over five times. I had to take it to Jonn Elway in downtown Denver to find out that the motor was stripped because it was not mounted right, wonder who touched it last. After $1800 at J.E. I had a perfectly normal running truck. Until today, the transmission is out and guess who only has a 3000mile warranty, my oil changes last longer than that. I am so pissed to know I have to spend another $2800 to get this fixed at a dealership that gives a nationwide warranty of 100,000 miles. This guy has you pay via paypal too, so there is no record unless you keep your receipt. Save your money, go to a professional that can fix it right the first time. I normally do not give reviews unless you rip me off because I dont hide my name and I have a pic of me, if you remember me give me back my money or call me back.
