My check engine turned on Labor Day weekend and my regular repair shop was closed for 3 days. Not wanting to drive around with the light on I went to pep boys and they ran a quick test to see what was wrong with my car. They came back with it being inconclusive and would have to run a longer test that would cost money. The employee was very honest with me. He informed me that I didnt have any major problem, I could drive and not be scared that anything bad would happen to my vehicle. The problem has worked itself out and the light has turned off on its own. Thanks to Pep Boys I didnt have to spend any money on the problem.

I scheduled 3 times for an inspection at this location. The first one was made online and cancelled with notice. The second one was also cancelled. Rescheduled a set appointment over the phone with a technician and assured that I would be serviced. When I arrived the next week to my appointment to drop my vehicle off, I was told “Sorry man, no inspections today” (very professional) and that was it. I inquired further since no explanation was given and told to reschedule for later in the week. When asked why and why I was scheduled if they weren’t doing inspections, I was told, “the guy doing inspections called in sick”. If this is the case, they should have notified any clients scheduled with this mechanic so they wouldn’t have to waste their time. Incredibly unprofessional.

Charles Was very helpful. He went out of his way to find out the answers I needed and even called other stores to see if they had what I needed available. And even though this location did not have it he made sure I knew where I could get it. I will definitely be returning because his customer service is awesome!!

We had exceptional service from everyone although we mostly dealt with Jerry. Initially I was very nervous about the work the vehicle would need and he took the time to give me detailed reasons why I shouldnt worry. Aside from tires and an inspection, we needed to purchase a Bluetooth adapter and I know nothing about them. They listened to our needs and got us the perfect item. Many thanks to all at Pep Boys!

Yesterday I called and made an appointment at this pep boys location to get 4 new tires put on my car along with a wheel alignment and inspection when I arrived to my appointment i was the only customer as i was being taken care of the service person told me it was gonna be 2 hours now I understand cost of labor but when you have no other people waiting and spots open in your garage I dont understand usually you would want to get the customer out of there as soon as possible so then Im told my car wont pass inspection cause of 1 wiper blade a bulb on my license plate and they claim my brakes were getting low all bs just so I can spend some more money as I left my tpms light came on my dash board letting me know my tire pressure wasnt correct so I check it and all 4 tires were at different psi 44,58,36,42, now my tpms on my dashboard says error never go to this place non of these problems were occurring prior to me taking my car here

Brought the car in to check wheel bearing on warranty... they said nothing wrong, all they did was put on lift. That we need tires...We leave and the dash lights up like xmas morning... traction system warning... check engine. . None of those were on prior, so we bring it right back... they said someone took the air filter apart and didnt put it back together...ummmm WHY are you even TOUCHING the air filter, or any other engine components for a WHEEL PROBLEM??? And then you forgot to put it back together?? Something very wrong with that picture to me.Needless to say, were going to get it looked at somewhere else, because after all this nonsense, its still making the SAME noise it was!!!

Pep Boys people are very nice people but the service seems to be lax. The prices for auto repair are high but the job does get done right!!Quality work!! But you will Pay!! If you drop your car off for service (no matter how small) expect to wait!! Bring a book!!

I made an appointment online for a tire repair yesterday evening. It went through no problem. When I arrived at the appointed time, I was told the repair could not be done because when I made the online appointment, the store was closed and there was not a live person there to confirm it. Really???? Why have a system with the capability to make an appointment that may or may not be doable? Asinine. Ill give it two stars only because the service employee was polite and not their fault the company uses an idiotic online appointment system.

I went to the store for my car battery installation. The store manager Gerald Galey was at the desk. I asked to buy and install a battery for my car and also asked if I have any coupons in my account. He denied and didnt offer me any specials and was very unprofessional. During the installation, he broke my car battery holder and it became loosen. While I notice that, he became aggressive to me and also I checked pep boys online, there is a price difference whatever the manager charged me. I show him the page with the price difference and requested if he can price match. As soon as I asked him for a price match he started mistreating and offensive behaving with me. He screamed to me that he installed the battery now he is done, I cant talk to him anymore. I was trying to get the explanation of the receipt he gave me, he denied and push me out of the store and threatened me hes gonna call the police on me. I got shocked! as a customer, I didnt expect it. The manager was so rude, so unprofessional, and dangerous. I felt so racial attack by this manager. I had to leave the store right away for my safety cause the manager seems so dangerous. Also, he didnt return my old parts. I will attach the receipt and the online price difference page. I would like to take immediate action about this incident. I also request my refund for my old parts he didnt return to me as I requested him before starting the installation.

My latest visits to this pep boys have been less than satisfactory. They stopped installing customers own parts some time ago, which is unfortunate because the last time I got my own parts installed, my car was repaired completely. Lately though my services have been lacking in the same integrity. I brought my car in for a wheel alignment after a suspension replacement, and afterwards, for no apparent reason my entire front end suspension started to fall apart, all the components were replaced just a week prior so I don’t know why. Today I spent 225 dollars just to get my car looked at and be told I needed to spend another 1k to maybe fix my bad suspension that started after I waited 5 hours. I’d be very careful coming here. I’d hate to say these are the guys behind the comments people leave about corrupt mechanics, who damage cars while repairing them in order to make customers come back. Because it sure seems like some foul play to me.

MISMANAGED, RUDE, INADEQUATE... I’ll start by saying this was always my go to repair shop and had good experiences up til today October 28, 2020. I had called Monday the 26th at 1 pm to schedule my appointment. The gentleman I spoke with confirmed an appointment for me at 12:30 on Wednesday the 28th. When I showed up for my appointment the sales person did not have record of my appointment and did not have any concern in helping me with an appointment. It was only for a NYS Inspection so it more than likely could have been fit in. I’m very busy and only have limited time so when I book an appointment I expect to have it. After the salesman brushed me off I called the customer service number and they offered no rectification either. I will take my business elsewhere and recommend others do as well.

I had my battery and alternator replaced here during the Summer. It was not the best experience because the mechanic that completed the job sent me off without properly finishing the process, which made it so that I could not control my vehicles speed properly, along with every warning light appearing on my dash. He also seemed very annoyed when I brought my vehicle immediately back as if it was somehow my fault it was having issues. However, this is not the end of the story, about a month later when getting my oil changed, another mechanic discovered that the battery was barely installed and was very close to becoming disconnected. This was very disappointing after spending a good chunk of change at Pepboys, that they could not install my battery correctly.Fast forward to now, 2 months later and my vehicle is making a loud squealing sound on start up, and when I steer. I bring it to my mechanic at home, and what do they discover? The alternator was not installed properly. There is an off chance that it could have become loose from driving on the bad Buffalo roads, but I think that would be a major coincidence. I dislike leaving negative reviews, but would like to leave a warning for customers to be observant and to pay attention to the work that is being done on their car at this location. I am sure that they did not purposely do bad work on my car, but people spend a lot of money for work like this, and laziness can put peoples safety at risk.

I went on a urgent scenario to work on my car and in their tight schedule with the understanding of my urgency the service team is kind enough to have scheduled my appointment.11/08/19I’m sorry I will have to take my word back. I have actually scheduled an appointment for today @ 3:30 PM and I showed up at 3:15 PM and told one of the service team member (some old gentleman) he pulled my appointment and he wasn’t sure how much to charge for my work. So he asked the other guy team member 2 and he didn’t have a clue so I gave him the background details saying I came to the shop on Tuesday 11/05/19 and I spoke to one guy from service team and I wasn’t sure about his name(guy with beard and glasses) and team member 2 said oh yeah it’s Andy or some name and then he called him saying I’m here ... surprisingly the guy on the other end of phone said it’s not Friday I asked him to come over by Sunday 3:30 Pm. This is to the heights, if you aren’t available for work and not able to adhere to your words/schedule be transparent and that’s the professionalism at your work. Everyone’s time is precious and you guys have to realize this. I’m going to pay the money for your work and not for free. Rather it’s just a lie what they told and they were firm it’s on Sunday not for Friday. Very sorry never know that in 2 days of time you will break your customer’s experience. Well done Pep Boys @ Buffalo, NY!

I brought in my vehicle for a brake job (front pads and rotors replaced, rear deemed satisfactory) some minor work and a tire swap for the winter. None of this was of concern beyond the high price, which I paid (some of the work completed was not what I had asked to be done initially).Less than a mile down the street after leaving, my rear brake line snapped. I barely made it home and immediately called to address this. I was instructed to leave my vehicle and they would tow it back to their location free of charge (which they did). However, upon the diagnosis, I was called and it was explained that the repair was already beginning and I was going to be charged for the repair of the lines. The fact that the lines were never checked in the process of my full brake job and the wildly expensive fix was started without consent is not appropriate business, and frankly, dangerous.

Well it was good! Weird thing happened to my car on a Sunday, and they are one of the few guys that are open. Turns out it is a job that they cannot do, but at least they assured me that its not an emergency and I do not need to panic. Used to love going here for parts and oil change. Until I brought my car in for one and they said that my control arms were rusted through and needed to be replaced right away($260). I said Ill have my other mechanic look at the car first. Turns out there a bunch of lairs. The control arms were fine in fact there is rust no where to be found.

Made an appointment to get my snow tires put on, and it was a call that I made a week in advance. Show up for my appointment on time and they tell me that they only have one guy working, the guy I talked to should not have given me an appointment, and its going to be a while. I asked how long and they said about 2 hours. So Im waiting and the lady comes back after checking on something in the service area, and then she tells me that she talked to the manager and Im screwed. I suddenly dont have an appointment at all and I can just leave. Disgusted, I ask to speak to the manager and them Im told hes not there! She sees that Im upset and says, Im just trying to help you. How??? By sending me home? Where Im from, if a company makes a commitment, they stick to it or lose a customer. This company just lost a customer, and I hope youll also reconsider before putting yourself through this BS. And if you read further, MANY people have had the same experience that I had. Their solution to each one is to ask for your contact info so that they can investigate. How about just keeping your commitments and being a little more competent than completely incompetent??? Dont bother asking me for my contact info, because I see a pattern here and will NEVER spend a dime at Pep Boys.

One car needed a tire repair and other an inspection. All within 3 days. Nice. Friendly.Efficient. Cheap. Hours are super convenient. Close to house.Easy and reasonable, predictable price is what I want. No one tried to up sell or cross ell. Theyre promos were well posted but not jammed down your throat.Some of the reviews I just read below were disconcerting and I was surprised. But it clearly said in the waiting area that services were guaranteed by either fixing the problem or money back. I feel comfortable with that and would go back again.

Yeah so I called the pep boys on Elwood around noon today inquiring about getting an inspection. I was told that the guy who does inspection is off today but another guy will be in at 5:30pm. I was going to set up an appointment for it but the guy hung up on me. Fast forward to 5:00pm today... Blatantly lied to our faces in order to give us an estimate twice as high as it should have been.Told my fiance and I that they would have to take apart the whole front bumper in order to change the headlight bulb and that it would cost $80-$100.Cut to this morning when a honest, reputable mechanic replaced the bulb in 15 minutes,(no bumper removal necessary, shocking I know!) and charged me only $40.Steer clear of these thieves!

1 star because I cant give a zero. 1st off, I called to find out if it was true that they did free diagnoses on check engine lights. No one ever answered the phone in the service dept. I waited over 3 minutes for someone to answer. So I went to the store to ask. The counter guy was rude. Wouldnt look up to talk to me. Told me that they wouldnt do the free test because it only gives a code and they wouldnt be able to tell me what the code would mean...but I could pay $90 for a diagnostic but the guy was leaving for the day. Thanks but pick another sucker. Auto zone all the way. No hassle, did the diagnostic and the guy wasnt a dick.

After reading all the poor reviews on Google, I decided to take my car into the Pep Boys shop on Elmwood anyway. Prior to dropping my car off, the man who I spoke with on the phone was very knowledgable and told me he would be able to replace the starter on my car after conducting a few tests. Having read that starter replacements can cost well over $300 (part + labor), I was prepared for a relatively large hit on my wallet.The Pep Boys on Elmwood closes at 9:00PM. I dropped my car off at 6:30PM on a day that was very busy. Although the replacement normally would only take an hour, I was expecting to have to leave my car at the shop overnight. The man I had spoken to on the phone ensured me it would be completed that night. I came back closer to 9:00 and the car was not done yet. The workers ended up staying until 9:30 to finish my car (30 min. after closing time). When I cashed out, I was only charged for half an hour of labor and the total came to $210. The staff were very professional and its easy to see that there is a lot of unity at the shop (like what you would expect from a small-town auto shop)ONLY PROBLEM: The T.V. was playing Off Their Rockers and the TV was too high above the ground for customers to change the channel manually. If you like Betty White, this is not a problem. If you have a universal remote, again, this is not a problem.Overall Grade: A

I had to call the place twice to check on the process of my car for them to tell me everyone went home and I have to wait until the next day to see what the prices for the parts I need! The worst customer service at this place! They are always under staffed and behind on their work...I had a n appointment at 8 am for front brake service and its 2 hours later and my car is still sitting in the parking lot untouched, obviously an appointment means nothing to these people!...I also came here two days before left my car and they called at 8:30 pm (they close at 9) to tell me they couldn't get to my car!....Bottom line don't come to pep boys, they are unorganized, under staffed and provide rude customer service. Do not go here!!!! Save yourself a headache because this store is a mess! Purchased 4 tires, along with the installation and set up an apt for my wife to bring it here after she got out of work. Upon getting to Pep Boys, they informed her that the two back tire nuts are swollen, and wanted to charge her another $250 to take them off!!! They then informed her they do not have the staff or tools to do this job! We live in Buffalo NY....we get snow, it gets cold....what do you expect?? On top of that, they told her they didnt have the time to keep trying....thats why I set up an appointment in the first place!!!!! Then they told her she could get refunded the labor money for the back two tires, but had no one in the store to do this either!!! I repeatedly called for 45 min - 1 hr and could not reach a single person. Every time I called, I sat on hold for 15 min before I hung up, or got hung up on. Finally called main part of the store, and he transferred me to someone who picked up the phone, breathed in it for a min, then also hung up. I called back again and asked for a manager and he specifically said I am one, whats up. Unprofessional jokes here! I have been a customer of this Pep Boys for approx. 18 yrs, as long as I could drive, and have slowly watched this location decline in quality, and today is the epitome of horrible service and an unorganized, dysfunctional business. It is sad because I have had loyalty up to this point. My wife ended up sitting there over 2 hrs and left without the back tires installed, and no resolution! To top it all off, they kept her two back tires, and supposedly lost the receipt and had to print a new one, not the original with both receipts! I am done with Pep Boys and will not go back to this unprofessional company of seemingly amateurs! If I could rate it lower than a 1, I would. The end.

Staff was knowledgeable, but unorganized. Made an appointment for an inspection and was told that they called everyone to cancel. I never received a call and had to argue about it. Employee checked on me specifically and realized they had indeed forgot to call me. They gave me the appointment, but it took TWO AND A HALF HOURS for the inspection. I had walked around the city for the hour they estimated it would take, noticed my car was unmoved in the lot, and waited for another half hour only to get an astronomical price for repairs that was quoted at half the price by my auto dealer, and even cheaper at a local mechanic. Needless to say, Im never going back.

I dont write reviews often because everyone has an off day but I think this calls for a special consideration. I never go Pep Boys because I had a horrible experience there years ago but I needed an inspection, its a holiday weekend coming up and I was out of options. So I dropped of my car at 8:30a for a 9a inspection appointment. The person who helped me check in verified my information from my pepboys loyalty card which I got and used once almost 10 years ago. Confirmed all my information I asked that the inspection be done by 3 and I left. At 3:20 I hadnt heard anything so I called and was told they tried to call me because their inspection machine wasnt working but sometimes the computer changes peoples phone number so they couldnt call me. My inspection is due, thats my fault that I let it go too long but now staring down the barrel of a holiday weekend and everyone booking appointments out into the next week I have wasted an entire day with my car sitting in a parking lot because their inspection machine isnt working and somehow the computer changed my phone number. They also had my email they could have tried more than just an incorrect phone number. My ride back to the store told me that the SAME thing had happened to them a couple months ago. So now understandably upset and having wasted an entire day I went to get my car. I took my key from the person at the counter she called me rude and then proceed to have a shouting match with me. The whole situation was beyond ridiculous. Could I have had a cooler head about the whole thing, sure. Could PebBoys have provided WORSE service no.
