Unfortunately my experience with the dealership was extremely negative.I had come in Monday for a quick viewing and then scheduled a test drive for Wednesday at 6PM. I spent 15 minutes waiting to speak to someone and had to go to the back area to ask to meet with anyone. There were three other sets of customers also not being helped and roaming around looking for help.Once I did get assistance I was able to get a test drive, but was not asked if I had an appointment. This made me question if the Monday I visited I was simply denied a test drive for no reason. I was informed that sanitary measures had to be taken and car needed to be prepared so I had to make a specific appointment and return and that made sense. However, on my test drive the car did not look sanitized there were fingerprints all over the touchscreen. I was simply handed the keys and asked absolutely nothing about my experience with the car and told nothing about basic understanding of the car. This was my very first experience driving a Volvo and this experience has made me reconsider purchasing a Volvo entirely. To top it all of, I received the generic copy/paste customer name email I assume all potential customers receive saying how it was a pleasure to talk and answer all questions about the vehicle. This further provides proof of how little to no attention was paid to provide me any attention as a potential Volvo customer.I certainly hope more attention is paid to other customers who enjoy their Volvo at this particular location.
To be fair I have serviced my car twice at the dealership before. But this time around it was for the windshield calibration and I need a quote for my insurance approval before actual work.I called almost every day to follow up for the quote and no quote is ever sent. It seems service agent can’t get hold of the busy service manager although they are under one roof.Today service manager called me and says will send the quote right away . Still nothing happens. It’s a waste of time, both myself and their resources for taking my phone every time. Do yourself a favor and go to mckevitt Volvo or South Bay one.
The best Volvo dealership in the Bay Area!!! Big thank you to Ash, Tommy & Jay for a very pleasant experience. Highly recommended!!!
I had a check engine light come on in my Volvo V60 Polestar Engineered. Took it to the Palo Alto Volvo dealer, which decided that the fault for a hybrid motor warranted taking apart the transmission and replacing it. They had no loaners, so I called PutnamVolvo. After giving me a loaner, they scanned the car and said it was a software glitch (far more plausible explanation) and said there was no need to rip apart my car. I believe Volvo of Palo Alto wanted the warranty money at the expense of my time and the potential for poorly reassembled transmission. Unless there is a catastrophic failure, I believe the factory is the only place a transmission should be assembled and installed. When checking my brakes for warped rotors, they admitted that while slightly warped, I would be fine in city driving and as long as I didn’t drive aggressively, they would be fine to wait and replace. I decided to doa replacement anyways, but the honesty with which they diagnosed the issue is uncharacteristic of car dealerships. The service manager (Michael) is a car enthusiast and helped me a ton. The service I got here was pleasantly surprising. Dealerships get a bad rep for good reason, Putnam Volvo treated me very well and while your experience may differ, I highly recommend this dealership for service. Honesty, integrity and excellent customer service are just the start.
Worst possible customer service. Dropped off at the service by appointment 10am, for a simple thing (parking sensors cleaning). 5pm - no one bothered to call to inform me that the car will have to stay overnight. Called at 6pm - sorry, everyone gone home, status of the car is unknown. Called 7:15am - status of the car is unknown, well call you back. Came by myself 7:30am - no one even looked at the car yet. Shame on you.
Rockstar Dealership for This Volvo owner!Between the service tech, Peter and the Parts guy, Rick I have had nothing but fantastic experiences.Peter is super knowledgeable on Volvos and Rick went above and beyond to make sure I had the correct battery cable harness for my XC 60.I will forever share my positive experiences at Volvo Burlingame with anyone who is looking for a reputable repair.Thank you Volvo Cars Burlingame!Much love ❤️
Hands down the easiest and best car buying experience Ive ever had. Steve was fantastic at answering questions and explaining the difference in models. He made a point to ask if there were any special pricing offers I might qualify for right up front. His communications were excellent - no pressure, no hard sell - just there for anything needed. Pricing was quick and easy, and finance was as well - Cartier was a true professional and explained everything clearly and honestly. Usually you go in to finance expecting the big upsell and having to decline a lot of options - not here. Felt like a trusted advisor, and that everyone at the dealership just wanted us to be happy. Refreshing! Will absolutely recommend the dealership and Volvo to everyone.
The whole process was very easy. I was able to drop off my car and receive a loaner in a timely manner. The time frame I was provided for the completion of the service work and the actual timing were in alignment. And, I did not expect to have my car washed and vacuumed before having it returned. A very nice touch!
Not a great feel overall. Tried to upsell us even before we got to test drive our car of interest.
We were glad we chose Burlingame Volvo! The best experience we ever had, buying a new car!
Sales Associate was condescending and off putting, will never return nor do business with Volvo of Burlingame. My fiance and I visited on 2/20/21 around 5:30pm and was assisted by Brian W. We told Brian we were interested in the XC40 and XC60 and the purpose of the visit was to get a better understanding of the cars and hopefully test drive them in order to help us make our decision. He asked what our time frame was, what else we were looking at, and what our budget was. Our budget has a $15K range, and it almost felt that his response was an attempt to make me feel foolish for not having a specific number. I brushed it off and started asking questions regarding the different trim levels of each model. Personally, memorizing the three trims (Momentum, R, and Inscription) is difficult, so I would refer to them as low middle and high trim. Brian would quickly correct me every time I didnt use the correct terminology with a condescending tone that I interpreted as What is so hard about memorizing three trims? I started asking questions about the R trim. Volvos website specifically states that a major difference between the R trim and the others is that the R has a sport chassis compared to the other trims that have a dynamic chassis. When I wanted to confirm that the R has a different chassis than the others; Brian again was quick to correct me in his I know more than you tone, that the chassis are the same, but the suspension is different. Volvo calls them different chassis, so I thought Brian would appreciate me using Volvo terminology. I was wrong. We asked for a test drive and Brian happily pulled a car up for us, except that was it. He asked for our cell phone number and walked away. He showed zero effort in showing us how the infotainment worked or anything that would have made a Volvo special. After our test drive I asked if he could show us a color palette of the vehicle in which he informed us that we could view them online. He made sure, though, to remind us to look at Volvo USA, and not Volvo Europe. At the time, we were tired of being patronized and decided to get his card and leave.
While the car buying experience was great (thanks Ash) everything after that, and I say this after only two weeks, has been a complete nightmare. Purchased a Certified Pre-Owned Volvo S60 with 22K miles, only to have Auto Stop/Start and interior fans not work within a few hundred miles after driving off the lot. I returned to Putnam Volvo for service. 5 days later in sitting in Putnam Volvo service dept... original issues I brought it in for remain: Stop/Start still unavailable and interior fan is still not working. Took 5 calls to different areas only to find out whether or not my car was even ready (Mike Moreno said it would be ready by 3-4pm, no call back, called into 5 different areas of PutnamVolvo, no one could confirm until I reached Ryan, who said car was ready to pick up.) Although great over the phone (when/if you can reach anyone who knows what they’re talking about or can refer to notes after service has left after 5pm on the weekdays), I cannot get any straight answers. I’ve never been more livid in my life with a vehicle or servicing... the issues I took it into (less than a week after purchasing) have yet to be resolved only to be returned to me in the same exact condition I took it in for. ABSOLUTELY UNREAL that in this day and age, a Volvo (!!!) dealership honestly feels nothing more than a used car lot with a service center who can’t figure how to listen what problems are with vehicles or how to fix anything.
Since I was looking for an S90 with very specific options and price range, I decided to fly from Seattle to Bay Area to purchase my next car.Volvo of Burlingame had three similar vehicles available. Steven M replied to my online inquiry. He answered all my questions over the email in a timely manner. I told him that I was down to two cars and I will decide when I reach there. I flew to Bay Area Saturday morning,When I arrived at the dealership both cars were ready waiting for me for test drive. During the test drive, I was really impressed with Stevens knowledge on tech details. He presented all features of the car well. It is hard to find an auto sales rep with deep knowledge of their cars these days. After the test drive, I made my decision. Steven provided me the numbers. The car was priced right, so I didnt negotiate.Since I was going to drive back to Seattle that day, Steven streamlined everything. I was not pressured to buy an extended warranty, paint protection etc. Everything was handled smoothly. After I left the dealership, Steven checked how I am doing on the road to Seattle. He was not focusing on just finishing another transaction. He was making sure I am satisfied with my car and safely reached my destination :)I really appreciated buying a car from Volvo of Burlingame. Steven M and everyone helping him with this purchase made it very easy and pleasant experience for me.Yes, they are located 800+ miles away. But probably, I will check with Steven first before I buy another vehicle. Considering how I was treated and what I bought for the amount I paid, it was worth it :)
Recently finished with my yearly service here at Putnam Volvo. My experience wasnt brilliant considering how much I have enjoyed my XC90. When I dropped my car off at 9am, I was told it would be ready by pm. I call them at 3 and they tell me it will be ready by the next morning. When I go and pick up my car, it was returned to me fairly dusty, I understand that it was very windy last night, however I expect a bit better from a premium brand. Putnam also give out the absolute worst loaners, they are cheap and nasty and poorly reflect on Volvo, I would expect at least a cheaper Volvo as opposed to a six year old Chrysler. I will try the Palo Alto dealer next year, they are combined with a McLaren dealership so I expect the service to be a bit better.I love my XC90, by far the best car Ive owned. I only have to go through this once a year so it isnt the biggest deal, just a shame considering Audi and Porsche treat their customers a bit better. There is one other frankly disgusting thing that I witnessed while waiting to collect my car, the gentleman who brought it around was not wearing a mask, he had a bandana around his neck. As soon as he came into view of the office area he pulled it over his face. This is absolutely revolting behavior, if you have your car serviced here, make sure to bring gloves when you drive it home.
Lacy was fabulous, friendly and honest. I had been looking for a few months and finally decided on a Volvo. Lacy was able to answer all my questions and we had a fun time test driving. He really made me feel comfortable. For such a large purchase I was very happy and thankful for his knowledge and experience. I would highly recommend him! I absolutely LOVE my new car. Thank you Lacy!
Competent and responsive service desk staff. (That would be Crystal, in my case).Additions and changes to vehicle service done in real time while on the phone instead of Ill get back to you after talking with the mechanic. That saves time and reduces back and forth calls.Car ready when promised. Forgot to wash car, they quickly took care of it at checkout.Pleased with the service.Recommended for your volvo.
They detailed my SVU after servicing. That was a nice surprise.
SCAM ALERT. The service department here will absolutely try to scam you out of your money. Jobs that cost $200 anywhere else will cost you $700 here. They prey on the trust of people and hope they wont notice. This is from first hand experience. STAY AWAY - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
The worst dealership
I can highly recommend Steven Meister! No gimmicks, no tricks but honesty and comprehensive service by someone who really knows Volvo and cars in general. Thank you Steven.
Salesperson was very friendly and helpful and not pushy.
We recently bought our XC90 from Volvo of Burlingame and Lacy was a pleasure to work with. Lacy made us feel at home which is very unlikely in a car purchasing process. The test drive was fun and info filled, thanks, Lacy. He was never pushy and gave his honest opinion. Highly recommend Volvo of Burlingame if you are looking for a great deal and service.
Working with Steve Meister over a couple of days to figure out what would be the best car that matched my expectations made my experience exceptional. I love my car and I had a great experience, from the moment I walked in, the actual negotiation, to finally driving out the door. This is the third car Ive purchased from Volvo of Burlingame. I highly recommend that you go here first before you buy anywhere else.
Friendly sales staff and not pushy.
If I could give 0 stars, I would. This experience was with a lease which I have done through Volvo in the past. The experience of getting into the lease was exceptionally good. Ash was fantastic to work with and it was an easy process. The issue was with turning the car in as the lease had matured. I actually wanted to purchase the car but it was only worth 21000 and to buy it out was about 30K, which I know is common in lease situations. The issue is with Volvo Financial Services and the damages that they claim. I attempted to have an inspector complete the car assessment multiple times, but they never got back to me and when they did contact me first it was never a time that would work out for me and the second time was too late (there was a ONE MONTH turn around time. Needless to say I had to turn the car into Volvo without having an inspection. The Volvo associate said that the car looked great, the tread was fine, etc. The car was a 39 month lease, brought back within mileage, and in great physical and driving condition. Never in an accident and always serviced at appropriate times with no issues. There was normal wear and tear for a 39 month lease. I received a certified letter a week after I turned in the vehicle that I owed over 2K for excessive wear and tear. Per the letter I was able to view the pictures for only 2 days after the inspection was complete (I hadnt even received the letter yet). Upon calling Volvo and Volvo financial services they were extremely rude and unhelpful. They gave me access codes to view the photos that did not work, they made it extremely hard to dispute the charges, they charged me TAX on the redeposit fee that was not apart of the lease contract. A horrible experience. Had I known that I would have been charged this I would have just bought the car outright. I wish that I had been able to work with Ash. The other associate did not inform me about this possibility (I think his name was Bob). Takeaways from my experience: 1. Get the excessive wear and tear insurance, 2. Do not use Volvo Financial Services if it is a possibility, 3.have your inspection done well in advance so that you have the best information to base your purchase or next lease on. I feel like I was really taken advantage of and will likely NEVER purchase a Volvo again and this is from a loyal Volvo driver for the past 15 years.
The absolute ease of getting service at my convenience. The staff was helpful with the highest degree of respect for anything I talked about.
Ask for Lucy. He is amazing and honest guy. And overall hassle free experience.
RUN FROM PUTNAM VOLVO SERVICE DEPARTMENT. There are many other options and this location is very, very expensive, cheaters and dishonest. I have brought my car in twice and every time get an escalating $ and problem report. They never listen and just look for extra chargers. I now go San Mateo Ind. Volvo Service, 1021 S Railroad Ave, San Mateo, CA 94402 and found the service so much better, less expensive and just better.
Crystal, Rich, and the Volvo team were extremely communicative and helpful explaining all the work on my vehicle from start to finish. What turned out to be initially a minor service, ended up being more complex and an additional length of time than anticipated. Regardless of the complexity of the service or delay to due waiting for parts to be delivered, the team particularly Crystal went above and beyond my expectations. Crystal was very responsive with my questions and also kept me informed regularly on status changes with my vehicle.Im a loyal Volvo Burlingame customer (purchased my Volvo brand new from Putnam) and have only gone to Putnam for all my vehicle service and maintenance. My recent visit was so positive and pleasant that it completely confirms the reason why I only go to Putnam for my car needs regardless of other shops that may be closer to my residence, advertise lower maintenance/labor fees or a referral from a friend/family member. Thank you Volvo for this positive experience!!
It was a great experience working with Brian, and the rest of the team. No pressure, no BS, just explained what my options were, and provided the information I asked for in order to make the deal I wanted.
The team at Putnam Volvo take excellent care of my car
Very positive experience. Professional staff. Prompt responses to questions. Sales associates worked seamlessly together so there were no gaps in the process if one was off during the week. I was able to test drive while maintaining COVID precautions. Love my new XC60 Recharge. Tons of safety features, great performance (its very zippy), and the usual comfy seats and high end interior. The electric mode is great for around the town driving---it just goes. Its like riding the monorail! Smooth and quiet. Volvo for life!
I worked with Steven Meister at Putnam for a month and a half from when I sent an inquiry online to driving out of the dealership with a new car. Exchanged many emails before even a test drive with him which he was very patient about. I contacted many many dealerships and no one responded like he did. Id done a test drive before but Steven did a better one since he patiently explained and demod all the cool Volvo features which really helped make the decision on the Volvo. Even after that I was not an easy customer and continued to ask a ton of questions while I looked at options and tried to decide. Even the lease process was smooth and compared to other previous ones I have done. I was in and out in a couple of hours.Overall, Steven is a very experienced and very patient sales person and will make sure all your questions and concerns are addressed. I did not once feel like he was pressurizing and I recommend him to anyone whos considering a Volvo.
Great experience
Make sure you do a thorough exam of your car before driving off the lot. Im positive the hood of my car was damaged while being serviced, but they can claim ZERO responsibility since I only noticed right after leaving their lot.
Painless negotiation. No pressure from sale person. did not receive criticism during test drive.
Great service department. Willing to help and easy to make appointment
What a joke. Just arrived to test drive their car, there was only a receptionist at the front and no one else. He said there is one person at the office with a customer. Their maintenance shop was deserted as well. So much for buying a car from here and their lack of customer service.
Our service manager Miguel Guzman was great! He knew his products no surprises when it came time to pay.
Prices are competitive, service is great.
Nice local family owned cafe, had breakfast a d it was really good .
The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable, most especially Lacey and Andy. They provided with excellent help for us.
My Volvo had an expensive service and was never fixed correctly. Ended going to another service garage to fix the problem that I paid top dollar for at the Volvo dealership. Horrible service and will never return.
Great service!! Only went in for warranty work. But after my visit I think I would actually enjoy paying for work to be done here!!!
Volvos reboot is evident here. Small showroom but huge inventory in the parking structure. Great staff and good service.
Nice staff. No real pressure. Beautiful cars
Bought a new XC90 this weekend. Brian took care of us each step of the process. Great guy, great crew, and great service.
As a Volvo A-Plan customer buying the XC90 I ordered was a super easy process.
Service department is efficient and theyre always happy to do small things like replacing a bulb without a scheduled appointment.
Always get great service here!
Everything looked so clean
Been a customer here for over 29 years. Bought 7 Volvo vehicles through thdm.
Steven the sales person was unprofessional and unwelcoming
FYI, THE HOURS POSTED ARE ONLY FOR SALES DEPT. SERVICE HAS DIFFERENT HOURS.
Great customer service and staff
Great service staff
Would recommend.
