My Asus laptop had been having WiFi connection problems for quite a while, then chronic blue screen terrors. Brett didnt precisely identify whether the problem was hardware or software, but he came up with an awesome and cheap workaround that has completely solved the problem. I expected it to cost $100-200 and be in the shop for a long time. Only cost $42 and I got it back in two business days. Awesome!!

Very friendly and knowledgeable! I worked with Brett to identify options for my laptop with a cracked screen. He could have insisted on very expensive repairs, but instead was honest and got my laptop up and running again without the strain on my wallet. Ill definitely be back for all my laptop needs, and they will be the first place I go for a future purchase.

Ive had two Mac Book Pros repaired here. One cracked screen, the other with a dead track pad and keyboard. Brett was very helpful, and both were repaired to my satisfaction.

These guys simply do things right. I ruined my mac with coffee and they saved my data for the lowest quote and quickest time in the state, When I came back less than 24 hours later, I was able to buy an identical machine for a very fair price and they already had my SSD drive installed and ready to go so the new one behaves exactly the same as the old. They waived the price of the data transfer as I bought a new (used) machine and they even gave me a trade in on the broken one! On top of all this great service they are super friendly too.

These guys gave me really good advice to fix my computers exhaust fan myself instead of paying them to do it. They seem pretty genuine and generally great.

All you need to know is Brett does what he says he can do. Damaged my laptop screen while on the road, called ahead to get the part ordered. By the time we got to Burlington the part was in and we coordinated the day of the repair so all I had to do was drop it off, spend some time on Church Street and it was done. The best part was he was able to find the replacement part for less than the estimated price. Highly recommend.

The people here are so friendly and nice. They also have a good sense of humor and maintain a cheery and welcoming environment. They have great prices and great business ethics and knowledge of the products they have. They have a few free things they can offer like computer sleeves etc. which I did receive. They maintain great smiles and service ~ 5 stars for this place.

I was on my way to Small Dog today to buy a mac-book pro or air book. I thought Id stop in to C4C and check to see if there was anything used. Kim was working and when I told her what I was looking for, she immediately explained everything there is to know about the 11 and the 13 air books that were on display. She helped me decide which would work better for me. Since I am 52 I expected to be greeted by a 20-something guy and face a bit of a generation gap in trying to communicate my needs, but was so pleasantly surprised to find a woman who completely got me and my situation. Kim rocks and set me up for a great price with the 13 air book, and Im very happy with my purchase!

Computers for Chumps. These guys arent here to help you; theyre here to make a buck. Dont be fooled by these dudes.If you have any computer repair competency avoid these folks. Theyre more interested in making you pay for repairs than selling you parts, so they can get that $90 minimum service fee.They will refuse to accept returns even with receipts present, even if you used a product once because of a store policy they come up with on the spot. Let me reiterate: your receipt means nothing here.Theyll low-ball you on absolutely everything. Most of the laptops they get are donations because people think theyre making a difference, but in reality they just cannibalize the parts for their overpriced repairs while fooling everyone into thinking theyre some kind of charity. Im sure they donate at least a handful of dinosaur laptops a year to get a tax break on that pricy downtown storefront.Many of the accessories are used or off-brand garbage they then try to sell for premium prices. You can find better on eBay or Amazon for 1/4th the price.These guys know theyre screwing you over, even if you dont. Dont be a victim.

Computers for change is an excellent local business. Knowledgeable and friendly staff that are their to help, not rip you off. I recently bought a new computer there. When I arrived the owner was helping an older gentleman who had recently had his computer fixed. The customer asked a slew of very basic questions that most computer shops would have rolled their eyes at. Computers for Change answered each of his questions and made sure that he understood the answer. Do not go anywhere else in Vermont for your computational needs.

Very competent, very supportive, very knowledgeable. They upgraded the system on my older MacBook Pro, which was a huge deal because Id not updated since 10.6. They helped me prepare the machine, then got the job done in half the time theyd stated. Lastly, they have been very helpful and patient as Ive called in when things were too different and/or no longer worked.

One of the sales people was very knowledgeable, pinpointed the problem I had with my MacBook Pro laptop and replaced a bad hard drive for a reasonable price. Now lets just hope nothing else fails with this computer.But if it does, I would go back to see these guys.

Everybody working said hello and let me browse around the store. I had my old laptop on me and when I told the guy behind the counter about it he offered me a fair price as a trade-in-credit towards the purchase of any of the computers in the store. I ended up buying a Viao and was able to get my old data transferred for free from my old laptop onto my new laptop. It only took an hour to get everything I needed transferred! The one-year warranty on parts was a bonus! I would recommend this place to all my friends.

Unbeatable. My quote for a hard drive replacement/software installation was lower than the 5 other places I looked at. Turns out I had a cracked screen and he replaced it for just the cost of parts. Came back a few months later because my computer wasnt charging, sold me a charger for like 20 bucks. Great guy, super fair. Absolute breath of fresh air in an industry that usually rips people off. Wish I could give 6 stars.

Brett is a good guy whos willing to give you advice and listen, I really appreciated the understanding he brought to something I dont really understand. If you have an issue with your computer give them a call, it can only help.

Bought a charger for my iphone here. It didnt seem like it was actually apple brand but it still worked just fine. Until the piece that goes into my phone popped off one end of the cord .. So I brought it back and the guy immediately handed me a new one and said Give this one a try. No hassle or anything. Would definitely go here again for a new cord or any apple accessory I need because also - only place in town that sells apple chargers without going into South Burlington.

This review is long overdue - easily the best, most helpful, most competent, and fairly priced computer experience I have ever had. I brought in my 2011 Macbook, nervous about taking a Mac anywhere other than an apple store, only for the problem to be diagnosed and explained to me in plain English two days later. The worker went the extra speak of explaining the various ways he could fix it, keeping me informed and in control as well as confident in the knowledge of how my machine worked. I chose the type of repair I wanted and my computer has worked perfect ever since. Probably just got another few years out of this puppy! Best money I ever spent and ABSOLUTELY the place to go to get your computer fixed.P.S. I wish I remembered the name of who helped me, he was fantastic.

I really love the concept of this place-it is a go-to place for computer questions, truly affordable repairs and honest answers and solutions. Their prices are extremely reasonable and its a great place for students.

Maybe its just me but I had a bad experience there. The woman who was working was rude when I asked her several questions about the warranty they offer. She also told me to come back with my broken computer but did not tell me they would be closed for a week so when I came back laer that day she just said I should come back in a week. Why did you not mention before? I also compared their models to the same online and they are much cheaper online.

I work for a non-profit organization (The Friends of the Hort Farm). We needed a computer for our internship program and initially thought to go with the donation program. Brett was open to this idea and walked me through the process, through it didnt seem this was a good fit. When we came up with a budget he was wonderful in helping us find something within our range and even matched our funds! As a non-profit with a humble budget this was a tremendous help.Everyone I spoke to took the time to explain the very basics to me, and I walked away feeling informed and surprised at how easy the process was. My environmental side is happy to be giving an older computer a second life. I would recommend that other organizations consider partnering with Computers for Change, and I know that I will return when it comes time for me to purchase a computer for personal use. They are an asset to our community.

Bought a desktop computer from this shop and about 10 months later, it blew up. This was my second purchase. The first included a laptop where the keyboard stopped working about a year into its tenure - magically after the warranty. For the desktop, it took some emailing before getting a response. We finally figured out a plan to get the PC into the shop. I dropped it off and they said they would follow up. It has been over a week and Ive gotten no response.Like Bush said: Fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you cant get fooled again.

I was there with a friend who bought one. The computers are individually checked, and have Windows 7 or XP, not the awful Windows 8. They have good free antivirus (AVG), and dont have all annoying and slow bloatware that come with most new computers, making them better than new if you dont need the latest hardware, and most people dont these days.

They went out of their way to help me find a part for my computer, got back to me quickly, were honest and knowledgeable and even gave me a free piece to fix the problem! Definitely recommend them.

Went there to see if my external hard drive was salvageable. Unfortunately after 15 minutes of working on it he gave me the bad news that it in fact wasnt. He didnt charge me a cent and sympathetic delivering the news. Long story short the customer service was great.

This place is awesome. I brought my macbook in to be diagnosed (for free) and they said they would need 72 hours at most to get back to me with the problem. Less than 24 hours later I got a call back from Computers for Change with the problem and potential solutions for my computer. I told them I wanted to take some time to decide what to do with my laptop, so they held onto it for me for 4-5 days or so. I decided I wanted to take my laptop back home and get it looked at there, and although Computers for Change asks their customers to call them before they come pick up their computers, I showed up without calling and the staff was extremely friendly and understanding about it. I highly recommend this place to all with computer problems.

Excellent in all areas!When my 6yo MacBook started acting old and tired, I was referred to Computers for Change by my son-in-law. Took the Mac in and had a very thorough discussion of what needed to be done, along with doubling the memory and installing some software. There were some issues along the way but Brett got it all sorted out. Then when the cloud dumped my data (thats right folks, the iCloud is not infallible), Brett was able to use the backup hed done before working on the machine. I very quickly had the missing data back. The excellent work, reasonable cost, and great customer service certainly deserve five stars!

Ive purchased 2 Thinkpad laptops here. I brought in a Macbook that Small Dog said would be $500 plus to repair and they got it up and running, at no charge. Fantastic all around.

About a year ago, I bought a Macbook Pro from here. Today, it still runs as good as the day I bought it, and feels brand new. The gentleman who helped me was very kind and knew what he was doing. I was looking for a computer for college and he recommended a few to me of different price ranges. It wasnt like he was only trying to sell me the highest priced one. I also traded it a few computers that didnt work and my 2010 macbook that did. He gave me very good trade in value on them. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone and next time Im ready for a new computer, I will go there again.

I took my failed Macbook (kept crashing and shutting down) to Computers for Change because I didnt want to set foot in Small Dog Electronics, for reasons I dont want to go into. See other reviews of Small Dog. The problem, they told me, was a hardware issue that could be dealt with by an Apple store. They told me they could address it but it would cost me much more. And they kindly informed me of the current lawsuit against Apple for the faulty part in 2011 Macbook models, that Apple is required to fix it for free and provided me a printout of the information, and backed up my Mac the same day for a very reasonable price. Super kind, helpful, and most importantly *honest* staff (I dealt mostly with Brent or Brett). I will definitely go back if I have other Mac issues.

Super helpful staff. Bought a macbook from them about two years ago. I was having some power issues and they helped diagnose the problem for free and even fixed my charger for me. I spent an hour on the phone with apple customer service and they couldnt help me at all, I drove to Small Dog Electronics and they were going to charge me an insane amount of money to simply diagnose the problem and said it would take 3 days. I then remembered seeing a great review of Computers for Change on FPF and figured I would give it a try. I was greeted warmly by Lucas, and he told me he would have it fixed no problem. This was on a Saturday at about 3pm. I was expecting the work to be done by Monday or Tuesday, and as a college student I was stressed about being without my computer but I knew no one would be able to fix it any faster. To my absolute shock, Lucas called to tell me my computer was done 2 HOURS after I dropped it off. He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure I had my computer. I will never go anywhere else to have my computer fixed!

The computers here are very old and slow. The battery doesnt last long, despite what I was told. I bought a laptop here- much more expensive than it should have been- and 2 weeks latter a file became corrupt. The maintenance took over a week longer than he made it seem. Its a great idea for a business, but lacks good service and quality stock.

I was able to trade in my old laptop (2009 Macbook) to buy a 2011 Macbook Pro. They helped me weigh my options and went through all possible details before I decided on the Pro. Great customer service.
