I’ve owned Furuno products for many years but lately I have to say the customer support and overall quality control along with availability issues has gone incredibly wrong. I don’t know what happened to this company but it’s really sad to see what was once a good reputable company, evolve into a company that flat out doesn’t care about customer service and keeping their products stocked online or in stores. You can blame covid all you want but when months have come and gone and the company has made little or no efforts to keep their customers informed of what’s going on. Transparency goes a long way and if you level with folks, people will understand but to have no communication and show you don’t care, well hate to say it but I git one will take my business elsewhere.

I have had excellent experiences dealing with Furuno, from quick shipping of a needed part, to really good tech support on the phone, which they actually answer.To the guy who is whining about the cost of a repair, I bet you would be the first guy to scream lawsuit if theywrapped the cable in electrical tape and the unit failed and then you ran aground. Of course they have to do a complete and proper repair before sending it back to you. What did you expect? Perhaps you could have asked about the cost of a repair before sending the unit in?Anyway, I have 7 Furuno products from their simple N2K junction box, up to a $20k professional color radar system. Its good product and will serve you well.

I sent my furuno radar display to them to have the power connection replaced as it had partially broken off. I called them a week later to check on the status and the woman informed me I would be billed $100 plus $14 for the part (a small plastic power connector piece) and the shipping to return it to me. Their labor is $100/hr and I hardly doubt it took anywhere close to that long. I asked if their minimum charge was $100 on repairs and the lady replied uh yeah, as if she didnt even know. I would have gladly sufficed with electrical tape to hold the power cord on (as I had been doing) if I had know this ordeal would cost me $150 including shipping both ways. I paid $175 for this display in the first place (model 1623). Also I had written a clear description in my enclosed letter that the unit was in working order and merely needed a new plastic power connector replaced. Before I had even shipped it out I had called them and they had never mentioned a $100 minimum. Highway robbery! I am selling this unit and never going with Furuno again.
