The store is huge, pretty close to downtown Boston and very well organized. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and are responsive if we have any questions.Prices are a bit high compared to other online stores (like Amazon), but we save the shipping time and you get the added advantage of talking to the staff to come to a more informed decision rather than on online reviews. The reason for the 4 stars is due to the fact that getting into the parking lot is a bit of hassle as the road in front of the store is pretty busy during peak hours.
Great selection of PC parts. Good prices but the sales people can be a bit pushy very difficult to browse around. I feel like they must work on commission and dont always give the best advice based on what you need but more of what they want you to buy.
I love this place. They got great deals during holiday seasons and tons of PC stuff. I got a good amount of my water cooling bits from here except the big items (water block, pump/reservoir). Tons of other gadgets and accessories as well. I got a pi here too. Lots and lots of stuff for a great price. They also sell the whole Bawls lineup! Too bad I cant give give 6 stars
Micro center is so amazing I got lost in there for 3 and a 1/2 hours because it is a grocery store for electronics is electronics you guys and dials well love it. Have fun visiting
Walked in Mike Parsa helped me pick out exactly what I wanted. Knew his stuff and got out much quicker than I thought. Thanks, Mike!
This place is AWESOME. Better than Best Buy, better than trying to shop around online. If you want to look at anything for your next PC build then make sure you stop into Micro Center. Not only do they have some of the most helpful experts on hand, they will help you to their fullest, walking you through the store and helping you find and select the components that fit your budget and build. Great selection of prebuilt devices as well. Also excellent selection of gaming and general computing accessories that puts some of the biggest names in the retail tech industry to shame.
Two weeks ago, I brought ( what I thought) was a broken lap top to Micro Center that I purchased there about 3 years ago. A man, Peter Rock walked out to the Repair Center and helped me. I watched him go into settings andand click delete blue filter with one click! I was amazed!!! Peter Rocks rocks!!!!! Thank you again. I will always purchase electronics from Micro Center .
Always so kind and helpful! i bought a gaming laptop 4 days ago and last night the screen just died! so i went back today and they checked it out and gave me a brand new one! and after i went to look for a headset and right away a nice man named Hung Ly helped me find a good pair in my price range. very nice store.
Great place! Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Tons of selection too!
Best computer store a staple of boston. I wish only ever live where there is a micro center.
Ive been coming to MC pretty regularly for about a year and have always appreciated the knowledgeable and friendly staff, but a recent experience with hardware in need of diagnostics and service put that over the top.The team I worked with (thanks Khye!) was communicative and knowledgeable throughout, and resolved my issues within the day.
The most reliable store that i’ve ever when to. they will be your best option for electronics in boston. best buy is no competition. i’ve made so many friends there just because we all have the same interests. the employees there don’t really act like employees more like friends just to talk to. i was with my father and we were buying a monitor with a employee and a second later him and I started talking about psychology. all i have to say is that you should go there regardless if you have to buy something. it’s amazing
Should have come to this place all along. Every time I do I seem to get great advice. James Rose is the man. gave me some awesome advice. he was a lot of help!
My favorite adult toy store. I love tech gadgets!
5 stars for Connor MacDonald, even though Micro Center didn’t have the printer I wanted. Am an Apple girl in a PC world, and needed a printer that could handle the latest MAC OS. CM carefully looked at options for me and found a great Canon that would live happily ever after w my iMac. But they were out of said printer, and CM taught me how to check the inventory after shipments. Thanks, Connor! Excellent customer service such as this is rare, & greatly appreciated.
I LOVE this place. I build my own workstations, and this is where I buy most of my parts. I also buy laptops here from time to time. The staff are shockingly familiar with the technologies, products and store layout. Its a joy to buy here.
I asked if they had an MSI godlike board n stock instead of answering my? They told me I didnt need anything like that and I should buy a thread ripper if I want a board like that. I didnt need the pcie slots to run at 16x each I just needed the slots for things I do most of the cards I have take a full size slot but dont use the full slot of pins. They never did ask what I needed it for just told me I couldnt buy it because I didnt need it. Soo thanks for telling me what I want or need. My business went to Amazon on this day I had drove an hour to go to microcenter cause I am normally treated much better when I plan to spend 3k or so. Guess maybe they were trying to upsell me to have me pay 5k or more but thats rude and dishonest not what I had come to expect from this retailer.
They were super nice! I came with my MacBook air m1 cracked screen on Thursday evening for a repair, it was supposed to take more than a week to get fixed, but it only took one business day as the computer was ready by the same Sunday!I will definitely recommend it as its less crowded than Apple, and the staff is amazing! Thanks again Micro Center!
Evan a sales manager here helped me and my friend build my boyfriend’s dream PC set that fit within my budget. The technician Edward was super cool, he finished building the set within ONE DAY, and I got it to my bf as a surprise (he almost cried). I know nothing about PC and gaming set so it would not have happened without microcenter’s staff!!!Thank you so much
Super helpful! I built a custom PC with them and they did the assembly and finished 2 days early. They did a fantastic job and everything runs perfectly. So happy with my purchase!
Best place in Boston to get computer parts! While Im not too fond of the bosses (some seem a bit abusive), many of the employees are very nice
Drove over 2 hours to get here to find a graphics card.... well I found the one I wanted locked up and with no one to get it unlocked so I can purchase it...
Great place to pick up computer parts. The place gets a little busy on the weekend I’d recommend going during the week if you can.
I chose Microcenter cause of past good experience. Well that must have been a long time ago cause the store seemed 3 times larger than then. The staff did the best they could in a disorganized environment. I was surprised at the number of personnel milling about apparently unsure of what to do next. It took 2 hrs +- to get settled and it confused the heck out of me.Hence the 3 star rating.
While they can be a bit understaffed these days they are still the only place that you can go quickly and find the choice of 10+ 24 port managed 2Tb switches at a fair price to replace the one at the office that just fried itself. Also one of the few places with a strong tie to desktop hardware.
Great service and super knowledgable. In every isle I stopped in to look at something someone came by to help me and really took their time to answer my questions. Michael H. was amazing for laptop advice.
Went here with my son to buy him a new computer monitor. Very big selection and competitive prices. Sales people were helpful and plentiful. Nice store.
Eddie S. helped us out a lot and went out of his way to make our experience memorable. Great products, great service.
As a techie, I personally dont need much help with deciding which products I need. The sales floor staff are usually very eager to help. They know where items are located on the floor and they have useful elevator speeches for the popular products. Regarding DIY electronics, be prepared to be confused, searching for a needle in a haystack. That section is always miscellaneous and often ebbs and flows. So its very difficult to find the product you need, let alone potential comparison items. Inventory in this section is also somewhat lacking (I attribute this partially to the recent chip shortage). The staff are not very knowledgeable of DIY electronics. If you need expert DIY electronics assistance, there are better options in the Boston area.
Fast service and very helpful employees, were able to help me fond what I wanted both times I was there
Been here many times and made many purchases.Sadly, I never feel like anyone wants to help me. When someone does, they just want to slap their little name stickers all over the items I am buying. I get it, they want commission, but it feels like everything bad about a large store. Most recently, I was told conflicting information about an insurance policy I bought on an items I bought. Add to that the fact they didnt have that item in stock and I am sitting here with a product I paid to insure, and the best option they could offer me was to swap it out and pay the difference, of go deal with the manufacturer. So much for the insurance. I was told, by a manager, If you dont like it, its tough.Another time, when purchasing an item at checkout, I was asked if I wanted to buy insurance. I said no, and was then told what it covers. I repeated that I didnt want it, and was told Your funeral. When Ive went in to buy stuff I want and not been hassled, its been great. When I try to talk to customer service, I generally have a bad experience. At this point, I will direct my business to newegg and/or amazon. Such a shame.
What can I say about microcenter except that it is the coolest place for any computer nerd. They have everything. Its like walking into an in person version of PC part picker and Amazon. I think I spent well over 2 hours here. I really wish I lived close by because I could see myself going in to pick up things just like a hardware store. Adapters, cables, graphics cards...
I have been using MicroCenter since the early 2000s. I have bought pre-builds, notebooks and have custom rigs made. They have always been acceptable to great. The unit I bought (Dell OptiPlexSFF). I had very minimal requirements as it is a workstation. It was supposed to be wireless (it wasnt) and it didnt come with the WINDOWS disc & key.I called about this and I was told how to find out what my key was. That isnt what I paid for. The staff member I spoke with at the MicroCenter said there was nothing he could do, bnd that the manager would reach out.Several weeks have gone by and I have not heard from the manager about these errors. The simple fact that Microcenter wont give out the contact phone or email to the manager, and that they havent reached out to me isnt acceptable.I wont be using or recommending MicroCenter since they refuse to address the errors.
Terrific place for computers and diy electronics. Staff is attentive knowledgeable and engaging. The left turn off memorial drive can be a bit hair raising. Consider tuning off at a traffic light and coming from a back street.
Only 2 cashiers and a 20 min line, managers should be able to help but they were just standing in th9
No phone number? Really? How can a store not have a phone number? Im buying a computer, maybe I dont have one or its broke and I cant get online to contact them. Come on think people! Oh wait Im supposed to drive 2 hours to see if they have a laptop with my specs, then find out they dont have it and drive 2 hrs back and waste my whole day.
Love this place. Everything a geek needs well almost everything graphics cards are still not wholly available. But I can kill some serious time here.
I had not been here in years and it felt much like a west coast Frys that I enjoyed so much. Great alternative to Amazon or Newegg.
Sweet place I wish thay would put one in NH
Gotta say they have great prices and huge assortment of computers and accessories.
Great store with great parts at a great price. Staff are nice and helpful, and better supply than most stores and online retailers
I went to get an open box 3d printer. Now I understand it having scratches or missing some non essential items. As long as it works as intended it doesnt affect me. But when the unit has clearly been damaged by the customer who returned it and no one bothered to verify functionality its simply unacceptable. I wasted over 3 hrs to get it just to come back and return it. Im disappointed at both the person who returned it and more for microcenter reselling broken merchandise.
Its Micro Center what can I say. Ridiculous amount of tech at your hands. Great customer help and carry everything from 3D printers, retro DIY projects to every computer component thinkable.
Not many brick and mortar computer stores left - need parts or something fast, this is probably your best bet. Still tons of fun to browse, even if computers are way crazier than ever.
F a best buy. Microcenter is for real ones only!
Pushy staff ruin an otherwise great store here. I was intending to buy a keyboard here and the staff were great at letting me try out various options but when I made a selection the staff would not let up about the protection plan despite me saying no several times. The staff member who had been helping me even went so far as to say the keyboard I was buying had bad build quality in an attempt to sell me on the warranty. As I was carrying the box through the store another staff member came up behind me and quite abruptly asked me what keyboard I had and if I had the protection plan without me having talked to him or acknowledged him at all. I decided to take my business to a store which doesnt try to convince me that Im buying a bad product in order to sell a warranty. This really is a shame as Microcenter has a great range of parts. If you are running in to grab something you will probably be fine.
A bad experience. They sold us a Walmart chromebook. If we wanted a chromebook from Walmart we would have gone to Walmart. My husband asked to speak to the manager, and he was like ok, I will let my district manager know. We will not be going there again. It clearly stated on the box that this chromebook had been shipped from China to Walmart. Then there was a thank you card from Walmart inside the box. Not acceptable:(
Find anything or just ask. Prices are competitive and hidden gems are possible!
The salespeople were very pushy. If any other computer center had what we wanted in stock we would’ve left. Four different salespeople approached us when we were shopping plus the cashier and they all aggressively pushed warranties and other upsells.
Best place in Massachusetts to get your parts for your pc and other electronics stuff. Educated / knowledgeable people about their products. Every budget can find something there. Please to discover new gadgets.
Crazy false advertising on their site. Site says $79.99 for motherboard replacement. Now I know its more work because I have liquid cooling but was not expecting to be told $950 just for labor. They said its $500 per hour and thats a great price. What ever you do dont go by their listed prices. I guess those prices are for everyday dells but gaming rigs expect to drop thousands. Same job a local guy is doing for $250.
Bought a great high end laptop. Excellent service.
Micro Center is the best place to buy electronics. Everyone there is so friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend for any electronics needs. Patrick was very helpful in picking out my new laptop.
There is nothing I can write about Micro Center that could possibly convey my love for and reliance upon this godsend. This is hands down my favorite retail establishment, and for real if you live within 30 miles and you order computers or computer parts off of Amazon you need to stop what youre doing and get down to Memorial Drive and Magazine Street right this minute and let the savings begin. Replacement plan on my laptop replaced a cracked screen, a whole new case from my girlfriend throwing it out a second story window, and then the whole thing when rain seeped through my backpack and I unknowingly plugged it in. I literally have to keep myself from going here every day and just browsing for hours on end theres so much computer stuff for such ridiculously low prices I want to go right now but they dont open until I think 10, go here now!
Great knowledgeable staff with all the right products and right price
I went a few hours ago. Right when I walked in I was greeted with a sanitizing station! Then as I was looking at motherboards an amazing staff member asked if I needed anything. She helped me throughout my whole shopping trip. Very friendly and helpful staff!!
Awesome store for a computer enthusiasts. Pick up a lot of my PC upgrades here from knowledgeable sales reps. One guy is stuck up and annoying though.
So helpful and knowledgeable, store manager introduced himself and thanked me for my purchase, was sincere.
Great selection of computer parts and accessories. Prices are sometimes better than I can find at other retailers and they price match anyone! I love going to this store if I dont want to wait for it arrive/ship. Highly recommend.
The best place to go if you need computer parts, help, or anything tech related. Youll find professional employees and prices cheaper than anywhere else.
I got my computer upgraded and cleaned here a few months ago. Everyone there took awesome care of me I couldnt be happier. They were incredibly nice, fast, kept me updated by text, and just did a solid job. Turned my computer from unusable to something I play on everyday. Highly recommend this place.
Easy in and out I was there to do an in store pickup. Everyone was pleasant and efficient.
Great place for electronics and 3d printer supplies
The only place to buy a PC or parts! I have been going to Micro Center in Cambridge for years now. Do yourself a favor and stay out of the big name stores (Best Buy etc.) if your in the market for a new PC. The selection is diverse and enormous. There is a PC for every budget and you can build your own with ease. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Just dont get sucked into buying unnecessary software that they attempt to sell you. You can find many alternatives online for free or much less than what they sell. Thats not their fault, as MC forces their sales people to push it. No different than wines at Olive Garden if you know what I mean.I am writing this review on the setup I purchased last year and can not be happier!Happy Travels!TimothyOLA Travel & Leisure Traveling The World, Together
Excellent place for computers and parts. If you need a computer but you dont have the knowledge, the staff here will help you with your needs. I ordered a laptop online and it was an in store pickup only. I had to drive 2hrs from CT to MA to get my PC but they made the trip worth it. I just wish they had a store in CT closer to me. I am a computer geek but I have never been to Micro Center before, I felt like a kid in a candy store with all the cases, parts and opinions to build my custom rig. Unless they open up a store near me, next time I need a custom build I will for sure head to Micro Center.
Just WOW! Professional well dressed and informative associates. Even dealing with queue lines all of the associates were calm and with a smile on there face. This is one of the most refreshing brick and mortar experiences I’ve had in a long time. Great prices even sometimes below MSRP. I hope micro center is here to stay.
Knowledgeable help and good price s and you have to ask for sales items
There is a guy there called Pierre, awesome person. He did help me a lot.
Awesome place. Wish I knew about this growing up. They have everything a techy wants.
Great store. Customer service is always great and knowledgeable. They always seem to have whatever random cable or connector Im looking for.
The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. No one is pushing customers to buy. Customer Support is just head-and-shoulders above any other electronics-store in the area, including big-box stores. Micro-Centers price for the same item is usually well below competition, often below or at-par with online stores. Never had a reason to complain as a customer for several years now.
Ive never had a pc, only a laptop. So when I wanted to get a custom pc I was very worried Id have the wrong parts and stuff would break. Micro center had possibly the nicest staff Ive ever encountered, the guy I had help me customize my pc helped me get the best parts for the 2900 dollar setup to get the most bang for my buck and it works perfectly. Even if your not going to buy a pc visit this place
I had to replace my malfunctioning home computer and wanted to be able to get the parts I needed to build a replacement, locally. I am fortunate enough to have a Micro Center within 15 miles of where I live. I had never used them before and was very pleasantly surprised from the moment I reserved my order on line and had it fulfilled within 20 minutes to the pick up process at the store itself. The customer service is fantastic from the guy greeting you at the door to the techs helping on the floor to the folks at the pick up desk, everyone was fabulous. I had to go back to the store to do a return because I had ordered something wrong and even that process was as pleasant as it could be. Its great being able to buy locally without having to wait on deliveries and it would have been a chore returning the incorrect case if I bought it on line.
Great place to buy your network and pc item etc.
My go to for all PC and office needs. Their staff is well trained and very knowledgeable per each respective department. I can’t recommend them enough.
I love this place. They have everything you could ask for. Staff is friendly and will help you, you’ll just to find someone.
Came in without too much knowledge on specific parts, but after just over an hour I walked out with everything I needed to put together my new pc. Staff is attentive, knowledgeable, gives options, and offers products that show they are listening to my specific needs. My man Collin took care of me. I am really happy with the pc i put together, and all the parts came from here.
Good selections and good sales. The sales team was very helpful.
Ive shopped here since the 90s. Awesome
TL;DR - bought a bad open box laptop from them, got strung along by customer service/store management for a week. Forced to drive from out of state to Boston store to process the return.Purchased an open box laptop but it didnt work once I got home. I live in another state, so I wanted to ship back the laptop, it would be cheaper and easier than driving in to the store. I went through customer service multiple times over the course of 8 days only for them to tell me they had to email the store manager about it. The last time I called, I had to push for the rep to call the store. After speaking with the instore manager the store policy is that returns must be processed in person.Micro Center used to be one of my favorite stores but after my experience trying to return this laptop I realize its not worth the hassle if something goes wrong. Sadly, Im going to have to order from Amazon, Newegg and Adafruit from now on.
Non existent return policy. Bought a brand new motherboard and processor 48 hours ago and the motherboard would not post. Had several bent pins out of the box. Brought the receipt and all items back to the store to return it. First representative claims I caused the damage and refused the return. Passes me off to someone else who can not explain how the damage was caused but again refused the return. After repeated insistence to prove how I did it they brought a tech out with a spare processor who also could not explain how seating the processor could cause that damage. Manager offers 20% off another unit and refused to take back the motherboard that was broken. Representatives repeatedly walked away during our conversations to ignore me. Another customer overheard the conversation and explained to them they had returned a motherboard with the exact issues. Only came here to deal with a physical store and same day returns on defective products. Don’t bother coming here! Save yourself the time and money and buy it off Amazon where you can at least return a broken brand new motherboard.
This place is the absolute best electronics/hobby etc place around. I drive 45 min here just to buy parts for my PC. Good service too
Best place to shop for computer and nd parts
If you’re a PC person, this is THE place to shop! Amazing selection of everything you’d need to build a PC. However, I am rating a 1 because when I stopped in there, the GPU prices were being inflated HEAVILY. This retail store is literally scalping people worse than the folks on EBay! Not professional at all! DO NOT BUY A GPU HERE! Retail price $999 GPUs going for $2899.
Best place for buying electronics!
Great store. Everything you need for a good time
Awful experience with Cambridge Micro Center getting a laptop, dock and two 4K 27 monitors. I went to Micro Center to buy a system where all the components would be compatible. Well, when I set it up, the dock they gave me didnt work properly with the 4K monitors. The salesman (I kept his business card) ignored 3 emails, the online IT help system promised 4 separate times, serially, that someone from tech services would get back to me within 48 hours and it never happened. I went back in person once, but the store was closed in the middle of the day (they say for Covid cleaning). There is no phone number available to call. I dont expect people to be perfect but I do expect them to help solve problems they caused. Well, after threatening them with as many 1 star reviews as I have the patience to write, and a call to the BBB, a manager, Peter, got back to to me and met me to swap the dock they gave me with a different one. Perhaps unsurprisingly, this one was worse, the problem this time was that the thunderbolt 3 dock wasnt compatible with the laptop they sold me. So I hired an external IT consultant who had me order a dock from Dell online, and I plan to return the second dock provided by Micro Center. I will never go back there once this saga is concluded, and suggest readers do not go there, either.
Great place to find parts to build a PC.
Good place to get parts need to get a 3080 ti
Knowledgeable sales people, depth of product offerings.
They have absolutely everything to satisfy your tech needs! Really great customer service!
Insane selection of goods. Employees generally don’t hound you, sometimes they do no big deal though.
We went looking for an item sadly they were out of stock, but it was a pleasant visit anyway.
