Matt and his staff are great to work with. I moved from the area 3 years ago but still purchase my replacement chains and parts there for my saws. All I do is send an email of what I need and when I will be in and its always ready!

Canby rentals and equipment is All In Constructions go to equipment supplier. We love everybody there and the experiences that we have every time we are there. Never had any bad equipment and even if we did I feel that the owner Matt and the staff would move heaven and Earth to make sure we stayed on track with what we are doing.

Canby rental is the place to go! My husband had bought tools and chain saws here since they know their stuff. Great customer service, caring employees that take the time to help. We’ve also rented an excavator from CRE as well. With that the sales rep was super helpful getting us the right machine and a trailer as well. Not sure where my review went, but Ive rented from this company 3 times now and had broken items rented to me 2 of the 3 times. They dont seem to care about your time being wasted either. I dont have anything nice to say about them and their trash equipment. Do what they suggest, rent elsewhere.

UPDATEDAfter review contacted by Owner and had some good discussions about expectations and clearer communication he seems dedicated to trying to do better and asking for another chance to do better. Improving the rating based on their willingness to take feedback and hopefully take actionDuped by good reviews, my experience was not good. I purchased a new lawnmower from what I thought was a reputable brand and from a reputable store. What I got was a mower that stopped working after about 6 hr and was falling apart. Took it back showed the salesperson the issues, they confirmed it sounded amiss. A few hour later I get a call from service department that they couldn’t find any issues and want to charge me $250 for time spent (including fixing the obvious poor assembly). I get the machine back and it dies again after 2 hr,. This time I diagnose for them, amazingly they were investigating an electrical issue by cutting grass (not surprising since the authorized mechanic didn’t know where the fuse was located). In short CRE is overpriced for low quality goods, unknowledgeable service department and full of empty promises. They may be outstanding for renting equipment but I will never find out

What a great small local business.I have shopped and rented equipment from CRE for quite a few years.If you are in the area, there no reason to drive to Portland for any of your rental needs, they have almost everything you can think of.Probably the most knowledgeable Stihl dealer around, usually have a great selection of professional and homeowner saws.During the ice storms, they were swamped, but CRE kept in contact and got me the equipment that I needed for storm cleanup.Shop local and show CRE some love!

The owner of CRE was selling the company truck, He had his assist upload the truck to Facebook marketplace and i messaged her a few times before i was told to call and talk to Matt, upon calling Matt the owner i was passed off to Josh and some other shop hand. When i told them i wanted to buy the truck Matt dodged me and hid in his office letting Josh handle everything except i needed the info from the owner of the truck and for him to come to my credit union which he made a huge huff about because he was “so busy” even after i paid him a deposit to hold the truck from me. If you’re going to sell a vehicle that you own don’t pass that responsibility off to other people. Won’t ever come back or suggest this place for anything.

The staff at CRE are all extremely knowledgeable for rental, sales, parts, and service! My husband and I own a landscape company and recently bought a new commercial Toro mower from CRE. Not only did the sales manager work her butt off to find us a mower after Toro decided to stop producing until next spring after being on back order for months, but she also kept updating us while we waited!! Any time we have to fix up one of our pieces of equipment, the service & parts department are on top of it and it comes back like new! And every piece of equipment we have rented from CRE (commercial mowers, trenchers, aerators, excavators, limb chippers, dump trailers to name a few) comes ready to be put to work!! (They event have some event rentals!) we would 100% recommend CRE and the wonderful staff to friends and family! Good job, Canby Rental!

As a local business owner, I can really appreciate a business like this. They have been very helpful and knowledgeable with all of our equipment needs. They almost always have exactly what we need. Ive also personally purchased several chainsaws through them and once again, they make sure I have everything I need to get the job done.

I was shopping all around the Canby area in search of a mower. I went to several shops and the selection varied from shop to shop. This shop had the most in stock. The people working here are friendly and knowledgeable and help me finalize my choice in mower. Even though its a bit of a drive for me, I will be coming back for my future purchases and repairs.

Bought a lawnmower on Friday use it for a couple hours it went out ask these guys to take a look at it they say the fuel pump is out and charge me $254 What a rip off

Very good experience. Rented a 12 chipper, blades were sharp, and worked great for our project.

Matt bent over backwards to get me a tractor and 5 foot cutter deck for last Saturdaymorning. The deck had new blades which made the tractor run cooler and work less hard in the 100+ degree heat. I got good fuel mileage from the almost new diesel tractor, and the power steering made the five acres of dry grass hay a breeze. I appreciate the efforts of Matt and his shop to get me the tractor in a timely manner! The field was a fire hazard and not only affected me, but also my neighbors.Mike Shunn

The Nordstroms of the equipment rental business! The tractor, scoop, tiller and trailer I reserved for a large home project became damaged by the previous customer. Canby Rental operations manager (Greg) called and explained the sitiuation. After stating that my project could not wait until the following week for the repaired tractor Greg, without hesitation reserved equipment from another local business and delivered to my job site. I’ve rented a handful of different pieces of equipment here. They’ve always had what I needed, or were able to reserve it for use in a reasonable amount of time. It’s reasonably priced and the equipment always works great.

The two stars is for the work they did and their honest cost. Other than that, it is quite generous. Communication is far from a priority, so when you do inquire about your repair, you’ll be greeted with undeserving smart-ass comments from someone that is obviously grumpy. And that’s if you don’t get eye balled & mean mugged by some “I’m a bad ass with tattoos on my knuckles” type of dork in the parts department. And on top of that they are managers, so good luck!

In May I purchased a Husqvarna TS354 garden tractor from Canby Rental. I have to say, they are the best around. I rarely write reviews but this one had to be done. I worked with Bobbie on my purchase. She took time to listen to my request and find me exactly what I wanted. I wanted one of the beefier garden tractor/riding mowers around but I was specific in that I had to have it with the Kawasaki engine. Bobbie found me exactly what I was looking for, gave me a great price, and made sure she followed up with me to make sure I was happy.We had a hiccup with the steering wheel on my unit and Bobbie immediately mailed me a replacement part free of charge. Talk about customer service!While I was there I spoke to a very nice guy about a chainsaw. He hooked me up with a Stihl Wood Boss MS251 that I absolutely adore. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I live in Ridgefield, Washington but I will gladly make the trek to Canby to spend my money with Canby Rental. They’ve earned my business. If you’re in the market for new lawn/garden equipment, you owe it to yourself to at LEAST stop by and talk with them. If you’re not impressed with the service, pricing, and selection then you’re probably not in the right place.

In 1995. I grew holly and herbs and raised cows. I bought tractors from him back when he sold the green ones and rented a ton of equipment. They always put me first and tried their best to be helpful. I wish them continued success.

Great customer service

We have done business with CRE since the late 90s and have always been happy with our purchases and their service. We had a bump in the road a few years ago with a zero turn mower we purchased new, had an ongoing issue with auto choke system and it would never run proper despite new parts installed. Endured much frustration with the machine, tried unsuccessfully to get Toro and Kohler to work with us when it became apparent we had a lemon. Eventually, Matt at CRE came up with a favorable solution to our problem, going above & beyond to satisfy our need. We will remain loyal customers and encourage others to consider Canby Rental & Equipment for future purchases!
