DO NOT take kids on this tubing trip. Prior to purchase, we inquired if the weather conditions, and kids in our party would be appropriate for the tubing trip. We were assured that the trip was save, calm and easily managed with children. We had 3 adults and 3 kids (Ages 10, 11/12.) Experience proved otherwise. Both the entrance and exit to the excursion were ill conceived. The steps had no hand rails, ropes or even spacing and the river was extremely deep and unsafe to enter or exit at these points. We had to jump on the tubes and my husbands flipped causing him to have to hang on for the entire length of the trip as he was unable to find any place to safely stand to get back on. The entire 1.5 hours was in 10 to 15 feet water with a strong current. The kids had a difficult time navigating and kept having to be fetched back onto the center by an adult. The final bridge was full of logs and debris causing us to have to exit under completely to the right. However, the planned exit was to the left. So the current was extremely strong and pushing right, and the planned exit to the left was missed by some and one child fell out. This meant that one child exited safely, one child fell out and was drug back to the exit... and the third was chased by the remaining 2 adults downstream for over 100 yards and then took us almost another 100 to get to a point on the side of the stream where we could find a branch to grab onto. We pulled ourselves out and screamed for help. My husband drove the truck over and lowered us a rope to help pull us out of the river, happy he found us. We had 2 scared kids in the truck and we tied a rope and pulled the last kid out and helped haul us out by scrapping and crawling up the side of the embankment through the brush over 200 yards from the planned exit. As we had little choice, and our safety was more important as this point, we left shoes, clicked the vests to the tubes and let them go as they couldnt fit through the brush we crawled out of. We then proceeded to go back to the office and explain and not yell. You wouldnt believe the response. And I quote Oh its rough if you miss the exit, thats why we tell you start heading left after you pass the 3rd bridge. He only seemed concerned that I didnt bring back the tubes. I left as this point, as I couldnt believe it. I mean I was exhausted and still needed to go to the urgent care as I was covered in mud, scrapped up from crawling through bushes, and broke off a toenail in the embankment. DO NOT take kids on this tubing trip. I would suggest that Adults be cautious and I do not think this is a good way to treat people who obviously have been through a rough situation regardless.
This is awesome tube trip. The take out is in the same complex as the Outfitters. If you want to, you can park really close to where you come out. Be prepared to get your feet a little dirty as you will have a short walk in and out of the sandy bank of the river. We wore water shoes or ones we didnt mind getting wet. Highly recommend!
Great store with great selection of boats. Knowledgeable people working there too who are excited about their craft. Mr Roth helped us get two of the kayaks weve been eyeing forever at a great price, and we will be back. Best kayak shop anywhere near Atlanta, and well worth the drive. Right next to Reformation Brewery too, so get a beer there too!
Great shop very helpful even for a noob and someone who is starting out in a Whitewater Inflatable Kayak. Even tho they don’t really have items for that style of kayak they explained what I needed to get paddle wise. With the sport so popular right now they couldn’t get a custom paddle for me til after October. But I got my Shred Ready Super Scrappy Helmet from them helmet(cheaper then online also)to basic fit it and then I finish on the water when it was wet. Great guys glad there in my area. For sure trust the crew. Looking to get a hard Kayak next season after some demos at NOC.Thanks again guys! 🙏🏻
My family had a fantastic float down the Etowah river. Its awesome to have a local outfitter to provide a shuttle up the river with an amazing exit spot too! I mean who doesnt like grabbing a beer as soon as you are off the river! We will definitely be using Nomadic Flow Outfitters this summer!
Had an okay experience 1st time. Still believe I should have been steered away from xs/s pfd as a 58 male who fluctuates between 150 and 180. I think I would have been if they had the next size up. 2nd experience they were not open in business hours. Went back 3rd time to get what I wanted 2nd time and I got what I needed and it met my expectations. I recommend calling before you go on weekdays... even if its business hours.
Wish I would have found this place sooner. I have been wanting to kayak for a while now and was so excited to just happen upon Nomadic Flow Outfitters, not far from where we live. Its local, affordable, has an excellent and knowledgeable staff and rather youre just starting out or youre a seasoned kayaker, this shop is packed full of everything you need or you can simply rent Kayaks for the day, singles and even tandem kayaks. They have three drop off locations, a 7 Mile, a 5 Mile and one where you can just simply kayak up and down the river at your leisure. There van is large enough to carry a large group of about 10 people or more, each trip and quick pick up. We had such a great time kayaking this flat water river, got some beautiful photos and videos and are looking forward to many more trips. ( especially there upcoming special events, like their glow yak trips, where you go out at night with you and your kayak wearing glow sticks) 5 Stars *****
These folks really go the extra mile with their customer service. Nowadays we can buy paddling gear anywhere online and prices are largely the same thanks to the internet. What sets these folks apart from the competition is their incredible customer service. I am always happy to support a local business, especially one like this that has great service.
Very cute little Kayak shop. Had many sizes and types of kayaks from fishing kayaks, recreational kayaks, inflatable paddle boards, paddles, and outdoor/water gear. They do tours for an amazing price! Dylan was very helpful to my boyfriend and I,Even though we didn’t buy a kayak. We did buy two stickers, so fun! We plan on doing a guided paddle in the future with them on the Etowah
Would 10/10 recommend. I love that they can answer basically every question I had and recommendations based on their personal experiences. I’d much rather support my local shop than a mega store. I’m in love with my new PFD (the reason for our visit). I will be excited to see their permanent space in the Mill once it is finished.
I ordered a pfd online 4 weeks ago. Apparently they don’t have it in stock. No phone call to let me know or email. I had to call to ask the status of my order in which they said they didn’t have it. Requested that they gave me a refund since they don’t have the item and was told that since their boss was not available they could not process a refund but that they would let the boss know so that they could refund the item. Three weeks go by and no contact and no refund. I have called them four times and still no resolution. Terrible customer service.
Very friendly, knowledgable staff. I am new to kayak fishing and they took plenty of time with me listening to my needs, and making the best recommendations possible. These are definitely my go to guys for my kayak needs!
Worst experience I have ever had tubing. Will not be going back. The service was horrible when we reported an issue. They were more concerned about their tube versus the safety of people.
Awesome place to shop! Ryan helped me with all my gear and at a great price. More than a great experience.
Excellent people and very friendly service! Would recommend 100% of the time..
The river itself is nice if what youre looking for is a fishing trip or a casual float down the river. Otherwise, gross false advertising not only on Googles images but also the website itself. The images show decent rapids, people wearing helmets, and huge waterfalls. The website claims class 2+ rapids. Not a single rapid was to be found. I do not recommend getting near this place if youre enticed by the whitewater rafting and kayaking photos. Sure if you wanna buy something, but definitely not if youre looking for a thrill.
Purchased an XP10 from Ryan and, although the shipment was delayed, Ryan made the experience a great one. Made me feel very good about my purchase. If you need a kayak or gear, or just need some helpful tips, Ryan at Nomadic Flow is the person to call. Thanks Ryan and I can’t wait to try my new boat this weekend
Friendly, knowledgeable owner and staff. Surprisingly good selection and pricing for a small town. Very happy to buy local and have an OUTFITTER I can trust.
The staff was wonderful!! Great equipment and great service.
This is the place to get into kayaking, especially whitewater. They have everything you need or just stop by for some knowledge. They also have a great fleet of rental kayaks to paddle the serene Yellow River.
Excellent trip. The owner and his crew are really knowledgeable and great customer service. A super day on the water and well worth the price.
Friendly and new shop. Canton mill exchange. They do kayak and inner rentals on the Etowag River
Website is out of date.. the kayak rental/drop is apparently ‘out of season’ now.. if you’d answered your phone you would have saved us a trip and not wasted my day!!
I recently attempted to float the Etowah river with Nomadic flow on the 6th of July. I CAN NOT RECOMMEND using them based on my experience. I called the day before to get information about how the float and shuttle service worked. I was directed to the Canton locations number and called and was told about the opening time of the desk and the first and last float times. I was also told about the frequency of the groups times to be every 30 min. The person asked how many I was expecting in my party i said 4 - 6 and he said he would see me the next day. (This is where it goes downhill). My group and I show up at Reformation Brewery (Canton) at 4:45pm on with what should be 2 float times still available. At the Nomadic Flow desk we were greeted by a Tubed out sign. I asked the lady at the desk what was going on. She said that they were having issues with there tubes first then she said that they were suggesting to people to make reservations even though they took walk ins (mind you I called for such information the day before). Then she went on to say they were having issues with their waivers. Come to find out the issues with their waivers was the printer was not working I later asked if i could just print it out at home they said that was not an option. I dont want to tell you how to run your business but a broken printer should not stop your operation for the day. you send someone to purchase a printer. It seems to me as if they just did not want to go out anymore that day. we were given a buy one get one half off coupon 🤨 which they were handing out as a promotion during the brewerys opening. .I called the other location to let them know what I had experience the gentlemen on the phone said that he would let the owner know and he would call me back. I decided to wait to post this to see if he would actually do so. The Call never came. As local Canton resident I was excited for this coming to Canton and wanted this to be something tell and bring our friends to do, but now this has just left a bad impression of the way they do business.
Excellent store! Knowledgeable staff that will help you with your boating needs!
These folks have excellent service and have a passion for kayaking. Very professional and knowledgable.
These guys love what they do and want you to experience it. Great people!
Great whitewater shop with a knowledgeable and friendly staff. They only carry top notch gear from Kokatat, NRS, Immersion Research, and Warner paddles, My favorite brands!
Great rental and shuttle service located in Porterdale. Ryan and other staff were extremely helpful.
The employees were helpful and willing to talk with you
3rd time weve rented kayaks for a family trip from the Tabor Road drop -in to Porterdale. Always a beautiful trip, always great service and fast pickup.
Super great service
Did not go in the store
