An order at the counter breakfast restaurant that has a good selection of breakfast food items. My wife loved her eggs florentine and my omelette was a solid B Plus. All dining is on an outdoor patio area and they bring the food to your table. Overall good, Id eat there again. They did have some amazing looking baked goods for sale which we did not try this time so maybe next.

I moved out of Carlsbad about 6 years ago. Cage Elysa has alway been a favorite. The Eggs Benedict was delicious and the staff as it together.

Had breakfast here and the food was delicious, the service was fast and friendly.

Food was tasty and well priced! Absolutely loved the Pumpkin Spice Chai tea. It was a cold day and that drink was so so delicious. Actually ordered another one to go! Would highly recommend ☺️

Nice place, lots of variety of foods option. No gluten free bread, so dont ask haha... Can definitely tell is a local favorite spot for breakfast. Order at the counter, local tip get there before 8am for less waiting.

We have been coming here for coffee and pastries for over 20 years but the current owners and current staff have made this among the best in casual breakfast/cafe experiences. Excellent prices, best breakfast sandwiches, pastries and so much more, including amazing breakfast selections, fresh and perfectly baked croissants/pastries, incredible coffee and espresso and so much more. All pastries are baked to a deep golden brown and not under-baked like you see so often. All the ladies and gentlemen that work there are also super friendly and experts at their work, and they all work together as a team rather than each only doing one job. This cafe has not been remodeled and doesn’t look as cool or as fancy as so many of the new cafes and restaurants that have popped up in recent years but who cares when they are in a great location and they do the important things so well! Looking forward to coming here for the next 20 years.Great job Cafe Elysa team!!!

A gem of a restaurant! The coffee, tea and pastry selection is top notch. Right on the coast highway across the street from Carlsbad’s amazing beaches. The food portions do not disappoint. Always a recommend from me to stop here.

Honestly The drinks and food are amazing, They have a fireplace to! But the Breakfast Sandwiches can get very messy! But other than that the Cafe is so cute. I definitely recommend it!

Phenomenal food. We stayed in Carlsbad for a week, just stumbled upon this place on our way to a different restaurant for breakfast one day, and it was so good we ended up going back again before leaving town.

Nice location...staff seemed confused and food quality was fair at best. The pastries looked good so maybe for coffee and a quick pastry...food...not so much.

This is about as French as you can get here Carlsbad. Wonderful made real French pastries. Outside dining under colorful embrellas. Fabulousspot for lunch or coffee. Highly recommended.

Had such a wonderful experience today, came to visit some family and all came as a group. Service was very friendly, atmosphere was nice. More importantly the food was flavorful and well cooked. This place is doing something right! :)

The Ocean Burger was amazing. I love Bleu cheese and mushrooms and it had the perfect amount along with grilled onions. The burger was so flavorful and juicy.

Im never disappointed in this place! I always get something different every time we go! Their stuffed french toast is amazing (I attached a picture of stuffed apple cinnamon) and their breakfast sandwiches are good and filling (also attached a pic). If you sit outside on one side of the shop you can see the ocean! Overall, great food and relaxing atmosphere.

We ordered breakfast and enjoyed it on the cute patio. Enjoyed all the options & the beautiful succulents outside. The patio was very cozy and comfortable.

I had a really good experience here. I had the Carlsbad burger and fries. An excellent burger with perfectly cooked bacon and a fresh bun. Excellent fries. The staff was friendly and helpful. And the service was fast. Plus I got a pastry to go. I don’t remember the name but it is great. Filled with almond paste and Nutella. I’ll be back for more.

Elysa Cafe a food enthusiasts haven a place where your flavor pallet experiences bursts of pure delicious savory bliss. We really enjoy the cappuccinos here the sandwiches and burgers are delicious. Love the side options your not stuck to just fries. You can choose between salad, fruit, and the traditional fries. Their menu options are plentiful as are their drink and dessert options. I dont think you can go wrong with whatever you order. The outdoor dinning options seem a little dated but its great large round tables comfortably seat you and your entourage. The fire pits help keep you warm in cool chilly California winter days. As you enjoy your breakfast, brunch, lunch, or whatever you want to call it nowadays. The bathrooms are kept up nicely and clean. The staff is gorgeous and pleasant. The foliage is green and the palm trees add a very nice touch. Parking is good. Located in the Carlsbad Village downtown area, very close to the Carlsbad State Beach where you can conveniently go for a nice long walk on the beautiful strand. Highly recommend you take your chances here. This place is great!!!

This is such a great little place. We were walking by and the cozy fire and cute white tables and chairs invited us in.Order for yourself inside and then go out to find a seat where they will bring your food to you. No waitresses. Clean and tasty.

Ive been going here for years. They consistently provide great coffee, food, pastries and desserts. The girls that work there are hard working & always friendly. I appreciate when their gas fireplaces are on early in the mornings.

This is the spot in the area to get your breakfast fix. Chocolate chip pancakes, waffles, french toast. I like chocolate. The omelettes were also very good. Stop by.

The coffee is so-so, but the people I visit are awesome!Also, Alexs French fries are not to be missed.Too bad Eric doesnt have Crepe Night anymore . That was always very popular. Im a regular. Breakfasts are awesome!

Great food and nice people.

Cashier seemed new & had trouble understanding what a vanilla chai spice latte was. The french toast was DELICIOUS except served a bit cold. I ordered mine with strawberries that tasted like they had been cut with the same knife as some onions and peppers, so that was disappointing. Also there were a number of strawberry leaves mixed in, which is easy to pick out but unpleasant.

Great breakfast / brunch spot. The menu has something for everyone - sweet or savory. I really enjoyed the Benedict with avocado over hash browns instead of an English muffin. My wife got the breakfast sandwich (ham egg cheese) and it was absolutely delicious. There’s a great selection of freshly baked goods. The blackberry / blue berry tart was probably the best I’ve ever had. Iced coffee wasn’t great. Well be back often!

Amazing croissants, pain au chocolat, and apple turnovers. Crazy flaky and authentic. Highly recommend this spot for a quick breakfast bite. Right by the beach! Definitely worth a stop if you are in the área.

Their pastries are delicious and Eggs Benedict light and very good.I wish their coffee was of higher standard, their roast is extremely bitter and dark. We now avoid buying coffee with our goodies.

I ordered the sausage bacon omlet. Disappointed with the flavor, presentation and it looked like the cook put a bunch of ingredients under the eggs. Flavor were blan. You can always tell when the cook has other things on the mind. Pastries are great and people are nice. Great location

We have gone there for breakfast every day this week. Croissant sandwiches are delicious, so is the French toast and the Carlsbad Eggs Benedict. Cold sandwiches and pastries are also heavenly. Great place to sit outside enjoy coffee and breakfaat.

Love the place due to its proximity to the beach, outdoor seating and greenery.Why I could give 5 stars:1. The person behind the counter should not be working in customer service if she cannot stand people. Thats at least my experience from a couple weeks ago.2. Vegan alternatives are missing! :(3. The only toilet could be better, its smelly, mixed gender and the lock doesnt work! Otherwise, great spot for a break from the beach or a casual work meeting outdoors.Overall, this place has great potential if some funds would be used to improve above issues and/or even upgrade the spot a bit.

This quaint location is clean, convenient and serves locally made food that is simply amazing. The staff is kind and the service is great which is why you see a line most mornings. This is a true Carlsbad gem.

Food wasnt that great and not worth the money I spent plus I asked for a mango smoothie and it was the worst have ever tasted in my entire life.

Yes I would have breakfast here again. Very friendly staff, Good Vibes, fresh flavorful food. I had the waffle with bananas and walnuts it was really good, not rubbery like most restaurant waffles..No vegan items. The carlsbad eggs benedict were just ok but the hash browns that came with it were delicious! The matcha latte was pretty good too.Service is fast and friendly. But the reason I chose 4 stars instead of 5 is because the utensils weren’t cleaned very thoroughly. There were still some stains 🤢Would go back if we’re in the area but wouldn’t go out of our way.

The blonde behind the register seemed very unfriendly, rude and was short in her answers and statements with myself and my guest! Not sure why she works in a service environment if she doesnt want to serve...! The locations nice especially sitting outside on the patio. The French Baguette is as far from French as the US from France! Also, they have no butter replacement for Vegans or pregnant women who arent allowed many dairy products!

One of my favorites places to go when Im in town. The staff today n every day was awesome n so professional. Not sure why people have to be mean to servers. Best lemon tart ever n great coffee. Love their quiche dishes n never have had anything bad there. Been going since they open. Be kind n smile when being served or go somewhere else. 😁

Nice but the traffic noise is a problem. Also its one of those places that expect you to tip before you know if you like the food or the service.

Cute breakfast spot right off the beach with lots of great food and even better coffee - their dirty soy chais are heaven ❤. If you go early enough you wont have to wait long for your food, but as the morning goes on it starts filling up quickly.

First time visit to this little cafe and so happy we stopped by for breakfast! It was chilly in the outside patio setting, but they had the outside fire pits going and was highly enjoyable. My Greek omelette was fresh and delicious as were their bakery items. From our sitting area, we could even catch glimpses of the ocean. Make sure you stop by next time you are in Carlsbad!

Fun little place. Usually stop here for coffee/tea. Havent tried their food so I cant review. Food always looks yummy. So glad to have this around as an alternative to a certain coffee place.
