What a cute neighborhood coffee shop at a lovely residence area. We have been exploring the different roasters time to time to taste various coffees. This was my first time to taste local roaster at Oceanside, I loved it. I chose one their special coffee - the Honey one, I was totally happy with this coffee. Its creamy, sweet, in a strong and heart warming coffee flavor. I enjoyed very much! Nice way to start the day.
These guys roast the best stuff, some of it so unique and exciting, most of it, staple flavors that are well rounded and delicious, youre happy to wake up at five in the morning and switch on your espresso machine, gleefully awaiting the moment it reaches optimum temperature so you can start your day.Their small selection of pastries and cookies leave a lot to be desired, I do know a French pastry chef, Chef Michael, hes the real deal, he might still be in San Diego. Hed be a terrific fit for you guys given youve got great quality coffees.
Cold brew tasted okay. Planned on enjoying more time here, but they donβt offer power outlets. In this remote work environment, Iβd have to say the coffee is not worth the price considering you may not be able to stay and enjoy it while working.
Delicious and unique lattes and idk, coffee equivalent of great cocktails. They have very good fresh baked goods too. Worth visiting once, once getting into a habit.
Wonderful coffee in a cute spot in a bit of a hidden location. Clearly well loved by the community and wonderful people making coffee.
I have been meaning to try this place since my mom has been sending me their beans for the past year or so. I finally got to on my recent visit and it did not disappoint. Great pour over! My sister got the Chai and pumpkin loaf and was very happy. They built a socially distant sitting area for guest to enjoy the coffee. Took some beans to bring back home with me.
The local coffee shop that the Locals go to. Friendly staff. About 10-15% overpriced but worth it for the customer service and sense of βcommunityβ you get by giving them your business. Highly recommended.
This is the new shop I try to find any reason to come out of my way to visit- its won my espresso loving heart. Theres nothing to dislike here- plenty of seating, friendly baristas, yummy pastries, good location, parking lot, and of course really great coffee. Wish I lived closer, I would definitely be a regular, but Ill be back soon to grab some beans :) Excellent
I feel this place is overrated. Coffee is acidic and has weird after taste...but friendly. Opinion of 4 people.
Hands down my favorite coffee shop in North County. Every time I had guests in town while living nearby I would take them to this shop, and I went there quite a bit on my own as well. The PSL (Pancake Syrup Latte) is a real winner, but all of their drinks are a treat even if they are unembellished. Treat yourself to some truly good coffee here and take it down to the beach, youre worth it.
Great third wave coffee. Pour over was $7 π€¨ but it was delicious π
Smooth roast, full of flavor, creative latte offerings
Wow so good!! My first time here. (During covid) it was so cool they had you order in the doorway so you dont have to go inside, and shade outside while you wait. I got a PSL and as you can see, its BOMB (I drink half of it on the way home). Ill be returning! i highly recommend this place to everyone
Edit: Steady State has moved to a new location further on State Street and within a complex towards the back of the buildings. When I visited, the coffee was still fantastic as my first visit. I got my car serviced across the street so I thought I would do some work while I was waiting. I brought my laptop but at the time there were no power outlets. They said they were working on that so hopefully they have gotten that sorted. I really like Steady State compared to the other cafes in the area but I definitely need a coffice where I can work for a few hours.Old review: Even though I had the address, this coffee shop was a bit hard to find. Signage was tiny. Theres a little alley to the left of the brown building. Coffee was excellent. I ordered a proper cortado served with carbonated water. Sign up for their coffee member thing and get your fifth cup free!
LOVE! Amazing coffee, rad staff and perfect Carlsbad location. A must stop if youβre visiting and a routine if youβre local. I have been to many coffee spots all over the world and this one is in my top 5. Shots are smooth, beans are sourced personally by the owner and roasted with much thought and experience.
Favorite coffee in North County. Great flavor, friendly and welcoming staff. The βIndian summerβ is a go-to, and their different bagged coffee options let you bring your flavor home.
Steady State is a wholesome coffee shop with some of the best coffee, lattes, and teas! The staff is incredibly kind, always willing to talk, and makes you feel welcome!Theyve gone to lengths to make their shop more pick-up friendly and added a Pick Up window to ensure social distancing and safety regulations during COVID-19. The best part of that? It hasnt changed what Steady State is known for: Incredible coffee, warm smiles, and genuine people.
The beans they sell here are top notch β highly recommend any flavor that has Ethiopian origins
My favorite coffee shop in the entire world! the service is amazing and the staff are all so friendly. the atmosphere is incredible with the artwork on the walls and the overall layout of the shop. it is the perfect work environment, and the taste of the music that they play is wonderful! most importantly, their coffee and pastries are delightful. the βhoney pleaseβ drink never fails to disappoint.
We LOVE this place!!! The Indian Summer (ginger infused chai latte) is the greatest beverage Ive ever had. And my husband loves the Honey Please latte. Excellent coffee. We drive 30 min from San Diego just to go here.
Cool local cafe. Drank coffee outside with a friend. Chill staff and a good muffin!
By far the best latte Ive ever had!
This spot has consistently great service and delicious coffee -- its the best coffee shop in the Village if you are into quality beans and crafted drinks. The Indian Summer chai is a super satisfying alternative to coffee for those who are caffeine-free and the walk-up order window makes it an easy option for me to swing by while walking my dogs.
Coffee: Got an Ato (Ethiopia, Guji) pour over. The pour was amazing! Can just tell the amount of care that went into this end product, from the original farmer, to processing, roasting, and brewing. Im no expert in many of these processes, but a cup of coffee that has amazing depth and levels of flavor such as this, is just the epitome of care and dedication to the craft.Shop: I loved how they operated the store during these COVID times. Spread out outdoor seating, whole beans/brewing equipment/swag lined against the window facing out so people outside can literally window shop, and then ordering and pick-up at the doorways to restrict indoor gathering.Keep doing what youre doing because you guys are amazing! Got some coffee beans for home this trip and will definitely be back to try out different offerings!
Coffee game is strong here! Nice work guys.A bartender at the windmill recommended you did not disappoint.
This is my go to coffee place in town. If you want quality (not overly sugary) coffee in a place where everyone knows your name...this is it! Staff and patrons smile and chat with you, which seems exceedingly rare these days. The decor and music choice is on point and they offer vegan pastries that are actually tasty. Love this spot. Try a Dirty Indian Summer.
Best hidden coffee place in San Diego County. Consistently delivers rare and amazing tastes for coffee connesuirs and locals alike. They have unique and high class standards for each and every drink on the menu
Hands down, the best roastery in San Diego area. Their selection of beans and roasting skill is top notch. Staffs are very professional in making poor over and even espresso. Highly recommended if you are a specialty coffee person
Great coffee with a well set-up to go area.
Steady State and the team here are top notch. Iβve worked in the San Diego coffee world and have been in coffee for 3+ years & they take the prize home of the best coffee shop in the area. The micro foam of their milk is always consistent, silky texture and never burnt. The espresso blend is delectable and so tasty. You can always taste so many of the taste notes of their espresso. Plus they anticipate service for their customers and actually enjoy their jobs, which is huge for a small coffee shop where your customers can hear, feel and see everything.Great job. My number one coffee shop in the country ππ½ππ½ππ½ππ½ππ½
Very friendly staff! Great coffee!
The cutest coffee shop in all the land... The food, drinks and people are all amazing.. the ONLY reason I didnt give them a 5 is because it is a bit pricey for very small drinks... Although delicious, Im left always wanting more.
Great staff who are always friendly and the best dang almond latte Iβve ever had. Consistently delicious. Bakery items rock also. Lucky to have this gem in the village.
Chill spot, nice staff
The other reviews do not lie. This is outstanding coffee in a nice mellow modern space, served by nice people. Its a bit hard to find, from State St. head to the back of the building and its on your left. You wont regret the hunt.
Was in Carlsbad and found this place. When you go in it looks and smells like a high end coffee brewery and it did not disappoint. Coffee was phenomenal. I had the Space Traveler and it was great black. The bar is really comfortable to sit and enjoy the coffee. I was so impressed i brought a bunch home. My wife drinks decaf so i brought that too and we were both surprised that there was not much drop off in the flavor. Its now my everyday coffee. I live in Escondido so its a bummer they donβt have an inland location, but whenever Iβm on the coast this will be an automatic stop for me.
This has become one of my local favorites! The vibe is as chill as the town it resides in and is so thoughtfully put together. The owner is super rad, friendly, and always more than willing to strike up a convo. Trent has always been a great barista to me providing excellent customer service and coffee insight. Do yourself a favor and order my personal favorite, the Honey Please Latte, or any of their seasonal goodies! Come get the freshest cup of Jo in town with the freshest crew! Keep up the hard work guys!
Our favorite in Carlsbad! Amazing coffee, quick and friendly service.
Best iced latte I have ever had
Updated review: Based upon an excellent response from the management and another opportunity at the coffee, I have upgraded my review. I would think this is a perfect place for the 35 and under crowd and a very good coffee location for all. The staff is very congenial and efficient. The coffee is good to my preference.
Steady State Roasting is an excellent reminder that if youre looking for good coffee, dont judge by how a place looks or by their location. Sometimes a place that looks old-fashioned can have brilliant coffees, and sometimes a place that looks super hipster with the best equipment can brew up major swill. In the case of Steady State, the shop is tucked away in the back of a makers co-op, and they serve some of the best coffees I have had. Each cup is meticulously brewed with a fresh roast of an ever-changing menu of single origins that taste very different from each other. If youβre interested in comparing the unique characteristics of coffees from around the world, a pour over from Steady State Roasting is worth a drive. I am a lucky man to have a place like Steady State Roasting walking distance from the workplace.
Loved the dirty chi and coffee old fashion
First time here. I had an espresso, the honey latte and a pour over. They were all good. Will come back if Im around.
Weve been into Steady State 4-5 times now and its by far our favorite cafe in town! The quality is outstanding and the customer service is great too. Thank you, team. You make our weekend treat a little more sweet :-)
This is one of those cute little coffee shops thats kind of tucked away, but if you happen to find yourself here, you wont be disappointed. The vibes are super chill and they have a lot of artsy books and such that you can look at. The baristas are helpful and pretty friendly and the coffee is awesome.
UNPARALLELED pour-overs. Seriously, havent found a coffee shop in the area that can make one as killer as this place. It is worth the 5 extra minutes it takes to find the place. Ive been here like 5 times this past month. Great job!
Great coffee. Excellent atmosphere. Enter from Roosevelt for easier access and parking. Its in the back of the commercial center but theyre there and worth the trip.
Excellent coffee. Probably the best in town. I was a cycle tourist passing through and recommend this to any others doing the same.
WHAT A JOKE! Someone told us this place had good coffee but well never know. After driving up and down State St on Sunday afternoon we finally found this place stuck out the back in a car park.It doesnt really front State St. We walked in and a big hairy dude asked us what we wanted before we were even through the door.I asked about food and he pointed to a couple of lonely donuts. I asked if he had non-fat milk and he replied whole milk, almond milk and Hemp. This joint had the vibe of a morgue. We left and wont be back!
Had their Indian Summer Chai tea, it was incredible. They could offer just that one item and stay busy.
Everyone is very kind, love the atmosphere. The Indian Summer is my absolutely favorite chai latte of all time!
Lived in SD my whole life, and SS is the best roaster Ive found so far. Top quality beans combined with modest prices and none of the pretentious downtown SD roaster vibes. Even as theyve grown bigger over the last couple years, they still maintain the small town quality and service that they started with. During my last visit to pick up some beans, the head roaster approached me and offered any help in picking beans. We spent the next 10 minutes geeking out on beans, elevations, and brew times. We are lucky to have a roaster like this in SD. A+. Just please dont grow as big as Birdrock!
Authentic and amazing coffee. Definitely my favorite in the area so far. The flat white is absolutely perfect!
Small shop that is spotless and comfortable. The overnight oats and almond milk latte were delicious.
Delicious coffee! Service was great! Guys were super excited when I walked in. Always happy with great service and great coffee!
Great vibe with minimalistic artsy interior that serves fantastic coffee. Tried the pourover, latte, and honey please (latte with honey and freshly ground cinnamon). We are from Vancouver and would definitely come again if we are in the area
Top notch roaster! Their roasts are excellent - seriously good stuff. They always have new and unique batches to try from making it totally worthwhile to always keep coming back!
Possibly the finest coffee Ive ever had. My pour over coffee was perfectly prepared from outstanding beans that were freshly roasted in-house. Location is a bit hard to find but definitely worth the extra effort.
Amazing espresso! They weigh their shots in and out and keep track of their recipe. This is what good coffee is about.
Great place! Good coffeeTry their Indian tea, you wont regret. Very nice people))) Wish they have more place where to sit
Best coffee and espresso Ive ever had and very vegan friendly! Almost all bakery items are vegan.
Coffee so good. Scone so good. Life so good.
Best coffee shop in Carlsbad. Itβs kinda like Cheers. Everyone that works here knows your name, knows your order, is super friendly, and makes the best coffee.
One of the best selections of specialty coffee that Ive ever encountered - the house espresso was a lights-out El Sal from a single farm harvested on a single day. What?!? The fermented Monteverde Wush Wush is a steal at $10 for a pour over. Change yer life broh....
Wow! Im from Seattle, and Ive traveled in Europe, but that might be the best cappuccino Ive ever had.
Love the new location! Try the Honey, Please with oat milk.....yum!! Baristas are very friendly.
A simple coffee shop, quality coffee drinks but not a lot of selection or snacks.
The vibe of this place is awesome and the staff was super friendly. Great selection of house roasted beans. I will definitely be back!
Ok coffee, super nice staff. Im really picky about coffee and infind theirs to be a little inconsistent I have had a few drinks from them including the elixer, Im not sure they even sell it anymore. I do get alternative milks sometimes and they taste kind of off. Maybe its not their fault? At one time they had a gluten free blueberry mini loaf treat I tried to eat with my coffee - it was terrible, but I dont blame them, its hard to get gf treats right. It seems like a cute Meetup place and they are friendly and the coffee is better than chain store coffee anyday.
Thank goodness for these folk! They do REAL coffee, theyd give a number of Cafes back home (Australia) a real run for their money.
Excellent. Love the latte with maple syrup oat milk and salt
Nice, high quality coffee and beans with great service making it the best place for coffee in Carlsbad.
By far my favorite spot for great customer service and great coffee
Great vibe, excellent coffee. All baristas takes time to create a perfect cup with care. Highly recommended to everyone, but especially to ppl who cares about fragrance and the depth of coffee.
Hands down best coffee, our friends bring their beans whenever they visit us up north because we love it so much.
Excellent service plusExcellent food equals excellent experience.
Got a ginger latte and it was AMAZING. will most definitely be back!
Their Cortado not only looks good, its just outstanding!
Updating with why I rated 3 stars. Hoping for a place I could go and get work done on pc but there were no outlets anywhere I could see. Cheapest drink was around 4$ for cortado. Not bad if you are going for coffee with friend once in a while but not somewhere I can go every day with prices and lack of outlet
